bald trench

Something interesting I noticed; Trench, despite being a male dragonfish, has female features like having a lure. Any reason for this? (BTW, love your art and characters, especially the sea creatures)

no reason i thought it was cooler to have the features on him! its literally just for design purposes lol but while i was reading about them while trying to develop trench i thought it was so sad that males lack bones and teeth and barbels and are much smaller right..... theyre like limp balloons

and i cant imagine trench bald......

and thank you! lol but from that u can just imagine/pretend in this universe male/female sexual dimorphism will not always apply and can have any feature regardless of their sex. shruggg the biology comes second to a design component i think is badass.

even Trench in the alternate universe I made him have an even longer barbel and gave him a topfin because i just thought it was cool but he's still a dragonfish no matter what! LOL the easiest way to think of it is the fish in my created world of Fish Band are sort of mutated in all different ways but they live as they like :)
