Kerak Telor ~ A crunchy bite of spicy egg crust
While you visit Jakarta, there is one special street food that you must try.
Kerak Telor (read: ke-rak, te-lor) is a Betawinese traditional spicy omelette dish. It is made from many ingredients that can easily find in traditional market.
Glutinous rice is mixed with eggs and served with various topping such as dried shrimp, serundeng ( an Indonesian condiment which is made from grated coconut and spices), and crispy fried shallot. You can eat it as a snack.
The price is affordable (range from IDR 10.000 – 25.000). You can find it in some travel destination points in Jakarta, such as Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Monumen Nasional, Kota Tua, Ancol and others.
I had one when I visited Kota Tua. It was tasty and best to eat on the spot, while it still warm :)
