imagine instead of “she’s the only person in the world that calls me spence” we had instead gotten “he’s the only person in the world that calls me pretty” about derek and gideon had to begrudgingly give spencer tickets to a game that derek would like

I’m assuming this is about the person who called them “the sun and the moon” but please let me know if you were referring to something else!!
I’m sure you could probably make a case for both, but I personally would say that Derek better suits the symbolic “sun” traits shared by a lot of cultures, and Spencer closer fits the “moon” traits.
In a lot of cultures (I did research for this because I’m insane), the sun is symbolic of things like power, force, life, strength, perseverance, masculinity, dominance, energy, ambition, and courage.
Whereas the moon symbolizes wisdom, passivity, emotion, illumination, femininity, mystery, reliability, and introversion.
i love reading too deeply into this scene because it starts derek saying "can i tell you something?" and soon as spencer says yes, derek starts walking forward, still maintaining that eye contact. spencer looks like he's waiting for something ((for derek to kiss him)) and he looks kind of... hopeful?? as derek moves closer and pulls him forward. but then derek moves spencer's head towards his shoulder and they both just look sad.
and that's what always gets me about the fact that derek just can't bring himself to say 'i love you'. we know he can say it to his friends because he's said it to penelope multiple times by this point, so why couldn't he say it to spencer?? also the way that spencer says "yeah" and derek pauses for a second and says "you know??". then spencer's like "i know" and as he repeats that, he pulls derek closer. he knows how derek feels and he knows why he won't say it, but the only way he can show that he feels the same is by pulling him closer. and derek saying "good, because i mean it" - he wants to make sure that spencer knows he really does mean it despite being unable to directly say it.
and then after this, they share one last look as derek says "i'll see you tomorrow" and then spencer leaves, to sit on a swing all alone in the dark.
they know they love each other, but they can't say it and they can't do anything about it because derek has savannah now ((notice how this happened directly after savannah went back inside)) and they just have to bury these feelings that they never acted on and live not knowing what could have been.
Just a friendly reminder that derek genuinely gets upset when he realized that spencer didn't talked to him about his near death experience and kept his feeling :)
Derek: "we all know that no one actually sees the afterlife."
Spencer : "I did ! before tobias hankel resuscitated me I had that exact experience, and I wasn't in an emergency room I was in a shed"
