thinking about satoru being really excited to show shoko and suguru the ways he’s gotten stronger post-spv. satoru who doesn’t really think about the implications of it, as always. who’s just so damn eager to impress suguru, as always. and he’s proud of himself, for getting this strong. he wants suguru to be proud of him too. maybe he’s even thinking suguru will be a little relieved, knowing that satoru is powerful enough to never let another disaster like riko happen ever again. and, really, suguru’s never misunderstood him before. he’s never even considering that suguru might take it as an insult. that suguru might see it as just another way of satoru outgrowing him, outgrowing them.

i wonder if, when satoru went to confront suguru, his comment of “you already heard from shoko, right?” wasn’t a bit of a smack to satoru’s face. the idea that his best friend, the person he’s closest to, the one who understands him best, can’t even bother to explain his betrayal. all satoru wants is to understand. he’s just asking for an explanation. and suguru is denying him even that.

satosugu bicycle scene in the jjk s2 opening is going to kill me. the way satoru sits behind suguru and fully trusts him to lead them both the right way. he’s so happy, he’s so willing to follow suguru anywhere, he doesn’t even look straight ahead because he trusts suguru that much. they’re both grinning so wide, so confident, not ever even considering that they might crash one day.

YES i seriously think satoru just wanted to understand why, and i think so much of his inability to kill suguru at the end of the scene is because of that and because of the shock. like i don’t think satoru genuinely thought he was leaving suguru behind at all, maybe even just because satoru thought of him as his moral compass for so long. even if satoru knew, logically, that he was getting stronger, suguru would always know what to do. they would always be together, even if it was only in that way. but then he does something that not even satoru can think of as a “good thing”. and all he wants to do is to get it, and suguru won’t let him. and he has that moment at the end, holding his hand out, just thinking oh my god, i have to kill him, i should kill him, right? but he doesn’t. and maybe part of that is because suguru was always the one who would have answered that question for him.
