Sorry for not doing practically ANYTHING these days, here's a drawing of Cockerell (and yes, it's very movie-ish, but by imagination is jaded -_-)

More random Inkheart headcanons
- despite popular belief, Basta didn't get his name from his dad or someone yelling 'enough' at him when he was a child, 'Basta' is just the name that is usually given to family-less, unwanted children, or children from unmarried mothers who died in childbirth in the Inkworld (most 'Bastas' pick out a nickname later in life, because it's not exactly the nicest name you can have)
- many of the Black Jackets from our world (which is the majority of them) can actually read - not very well, since they're mostly former street kids or school dropouts, and also Capricorn basically forbid them to read, but still, they can (and they taught the Black Jackets that came from the Inkworld how to write the sentence 'the red rooster crows tomorrow')
- I know I've been saying otherwise, but right now I'm actually convinced that Fulvio was a Black Jacket from our world, since, unlike Basta, Cockerell and Flatnose, he doesn't seem to have a nickname, and in the movie, he doesn't have writing over his face (it's still not impossible that he's from the Inkworld, though, because not everyone in the Inkworld has a nickname, just take Roxane as an example, and also, I'd just love to make things differently than the movie)
- anyways, Basta is an insomniac, and disguises this through also being a morning person; he likes it to wake other people up to, let's say bridge duty, at an ungodly time, where every normal person is still sleeping, he's got that 'well, if I can't sleep, why should you' mindset
- he's also secretly got a sweet tooth and if asked what invention from our world he likes best, his honest answer would be peppermint chocolate (but he would lie and say it's guns or cars or something like that)
- I quite like the headcanon I've seen somewhere that Fulvio had been Basta's apprentice of sorts, because it would make Basta's life even more tragic and c'mon, after Fulvio disappeared in the church, he seemed to be quite upset in comparison to other Black Jackets and even told Mo he'd 'pay for that', that's literally the most caring/protective he gets over any other character in the books (and no, with Capricorn, it's a different story, because Basta worships like a dog at the shrine of his lies, but he not caring and protective over him)
- just the simple fact that Cockerell had to jump around before someone's window wearing a devil's mask, like wtf, this is actually in the books, Capricorn, why would you make him do this, is this effective
- I wonder how the women other than Resa came into Capricorn's village, like, were they read out of some story, or did they come from our world, were they taken against their will, maybe from local families who couldn't pay their tributes to the fireraisers?
- also, it was mentioned in Inkheart that some of them were in a relationship with one of the Black Jackets, were they in those relationships voluntary? If yes, I'm pretty sure many of the other maids disapproved of this, like maybe they saw them as traitors for it...
-and I can't help but wonder what happened to them after the end of Inkheart and if Resa kept in touch with any of them

Here's another drawing of Basta how I imagined him. Sorry if the quality of the picture is a bit horrible :3

Sorry if you have done this one before, but would you tell what your favourite place(s) in the inkworld is and why?:)
Oh, you're the first one who asks! ^^
My first instinct was seriously going to say the Fireraiser's Fortress in the Wayless Wood, because, as one might tell, I have a soft spot for the bad guys and I really wish we knew more about what it was like when there were still people living there. Was it basically just a medieval version of Capricorn's village from Inkheart, what changed when Firefox came into power, ...? I don't know, I've always found that interesting.
But I must say that I love the Wayless Wood with all its strange, magical and sometimes deadly creatures in general, there's something about the mysteriousness of it that draws me in.
But there's also Ombra, which I'd definitely like to see if I ever got a chance, and this and that and... It's really hard to pick. But in the end, I stick to the bad guys, I guess -_-
Thanks for the question :3

My shitty Inkheart Fanart
Soooo... Here's my shitty Inkheart Fanart. I drew this piece when I was like 8 and had just read the book for the first time (thankfully, my imagination was still unaffected by that terrible movie at this time).
We have Capricorn (this is how I imagined him, I kid you not), the Shadow, Dustfinger (Staubfinger in German), Basta and a black cat, Elinor, Meggie of course and the book Inkheart written by Fenoglio.
Tumblr media
And here's the redraw I did recently. I tried to leave most things like they were, but I... Uh... Updated a bit of the character design, one might say. Sorry that the picture's kinda upside down, but I'm like a granny when it comes to technology.
Anyway, enjoy the trash! ^^

Random Headcanons (Ink-Triology)
- the Black Jackets appear all gangsta and evil book burning badasses in public, but they still gather around the tables in the Red Church every morning like school boys to eat their cereal and I think it's hilarious (everything about them is darkly hilarious, lol)
- in the first time in the village, many of the Black Jackets were sleeping in the church, on some old mattresses they found in the abandoned houses or something, and they also didn't have the two long tables we read about in the book, but a colorful mix of chairs, banks, coffee tables, beer benches and whatnot, they also had an old record player and whatnot... it was very, very chaotic, but also a lot of fun, but eventually, Capricorn was fed up with the trash and the chaos, threw everyone out and installed the situation we are presented with in Inkheart
- y'know that scene in Inkblood, where Resa mentions that evil smile of the Piper, which he always used to show when an execution was coming up in Capricorn's fortress? Well, he uses the same smile when he managed to successfully seduce somebody
- contrary to popular belief, I think that Basta is actually in quite good terms with some of the new recruits; I mean, being respected and admired is very important to him, and he enjoys it that he knows so much more than them and that they listen to him and don't make fun of him like that idiot Cockerell; and also, I've mentioned earIier that he secretly wishes to have a son - and when he's interacting with these kids, he sometimes imagines he does (not that he would ever tell anybody, of course)
- Flatnose is actually such a funny character, I mean, he seems to be kinda the only one who willing to constantly put up with Cockerell's bullshit, and he's such a careless, uncomplicated guy in general, I mean, he even tried to have some friendly smalltalk with Meggie - despite being involved in her kidnapping
- also, he's superstitious too, not more superstitious than Basta (is that even possible), but superstitious enough for Cockerell to make fun of him
Uh, here are some more headcanons... It's kinda messy, but I couldn't get them out of my head or write enough for one single person.
If you have any additions, opinions etc, pls tell me, I'm desperate for Inkheart and bored :3

More Piper Headcanons (Inkworld)
- the Piper is such a manipulative bastard, honestly (somewhere I saw a headcanon that he seduced Sootbird to convince him of becoming a spy for the Adderhead, and - just - that's it)
- he's quite empathetic by nature and is good at interpreting other people's feelings, but since he's the bitch he is, he uses this ability mostly to manipulate others (Firefox is kinda jealous that he can't 'read' people like the Piper does, though)
- the Piper also has a very good sense of how things are going to play out most likely, and is pretty goal oriented in general, but c'mon, how couldn't he be, he managed to become a duke's herald starting off as a poor singer kid, you need to have some special skills if you wanna do that
- his vision of his father, who he never knew, as a nobleman isn't even that far from the truth, he is the bastard of one
- as a child, he was actually a pretty warm-hearted and timid mama's boy, but as the sad story often goes, life wasn't the nicest to him when he was young... and it didn't change him for the better
- after the death of his mother, when he was ca. 11, he kinda just went 'OK, fuck it all, you want to play dirty, then we'll play dirty' and became just as hostile as the world around him (kinda like Basta)
- remember that scene in Inkblood, where Firefox and the Piper are first introduced and it is said that, unlike Firefox, he doesn't wear the Adderhead's soldiers' uniform? Well, he's just snobby and arrogant, you could say, and while this is true, the actual reason is that he would rather die than become a soldier or even look like one, because he hasn't forgotten the day his mother died and he still knows that it was soldiers who took the only person who ever seemed to love him away from him
- yes, he and Firefox are inseparable, even though they actually don't have a lot in common, but when they first met when they were still teenagers, they hated each other (it was kinda a rivalry thing)

More Cockerell Headcanons (Inkworld)
- Cockerell is a womanizer, and yes, I know I say that about a lot of these guys, but hear me out; he's a quite irresponsible dude, probably only thinking as far into the future as he can spit, and after getting his stupid heart broken by the daughter of the blacksmith back in the Inkworld (see: my previous headcanons about him), he decided that romantic feelings and attachments are more trouble than they're worth and he would be better off without them
- so, I'm not saying that all these fanfics portraying him as an irresponsible jerk who's chasing after every skirt he sees are right... but they kinda are -_-
- at the same time, it's pretty important to him how the people around him perceive him and he's probably done quite some reckless shit because he wanted to impress someone or convince them what a legend he actually is
- he's easily bored, both with situations and people and also honestly really bad at taking care of himself, but capable at the same time if that makes sense
- he's the guy who would, on the one hand, manage to lock himself up in his own closet, but also still be able to survive the zombie apocalypse, if you get the idea
- just a sidenote, but I find it funny how in all these reader-insertish BastaxOC stories, Cockerell is portrayed as the mean asshole guy, and when it's CockerellxOC, it's Basta who must play the 'bad guy'
- I believe that Cockerell didn't have a huge problem with adjusting to life in this world, there wasn't much for him to miss in his old one and also he's a lot more open to new things than, let's say, Basta
- cynical realist who also laughs at his own (quite horrible) jokes
- actually isn't that loyal to Capricorn as a person; unlike Basta, he knows that Capricorn doesn't really give a shit about him and mostly works for him because he himself will get the most out of it, like I said earlier, he believes he's better off without emotional attachment
- but hey, he's quick, good at problem solving and absolutely ruthless if he must be, so he managed to establish himself as a relatively respected personality nonetheless
- secretly his appearance is very important to him, trust me, this guy spends probably quite some time everyday to do his hair and choose what to wear... but if someone asks, his outfit is 'just some stuff he had laying around', of course
(Btw: I'm still surprised that these second Basta Headcanons got so popular over night, lol! If you have any requests or constructive criticism, just send'em in! Have a nice day owo)

tbh i don’t think anything in the trilogy except maybe rosanna hit me as hard as that little story in the first book about the old lady who refused to give up her farm so capricorn had his men shoot her old donkey and trample her fields and burn her house down… like what the fuck that’s illegal. you can’t do that.
