Loud pipes. Or, how I would say it, broken pipe. Broken waterpipe to say it a bit more clear. Because that is the newest problem we have in our flat now. Which means that we have no water for...I assume a while. No water to shower, use the bathroom, wash the dishes or clothes...sounds like fun.

How much does love matter in a job? How much can you get really involved in your work, in what you do? I can't find the right words to explain the deep impact it has for me to work at the Levinstein Hospital. How happy I get just because I see a little improvement, or some patient starts to get used to his new environment, smiles, talks (or at least makes the attempt)...
And I think that this is also love. Because I would define love as something pure, something that is more than the individual self. It's about caring for others, wanting someone else to be happy even though it doesn't have to benefit oneself. I think that this year is teaching me something great. Not only about life but also about love. Ahava. It feels so good to have someone that appreciates what I give. Because I also think that what gives us such a good feeling is not only the act of loving but the acceptance of it by others.

Yesterday evening (ok let's be honest. It was more night than evening) I went to Tel Aviv because there where a lot of events undere the title "who do you call a refugee" after the recent incidents and demonstrations regarding the situation of (specially african) refugees in Israel (http://couldwellbein.tumblr.com/post/71633950894/thousands-of-asylum-seekers-hold-silent-march-on)
And as I hadn't made it to any of the demonstrations I thought that I could at least go to one of the smaller events on sunday evening. At the end I just went in to one of the clubs (there were over 50 restaurants, bars and clubs participating), the Pasaz. The location was really cool and the music was amazing! I came during the perfomance of a young woman with her band. Some of her songs were in english, some in hebrew, the crowd was dancing and the atmosphere was amazing. So relaxed and happy, giving the serious cause another touch, hopefully giving a bit of energy to those who are directly or indirectly part of the refugee struggle.
I also had a nice conversation with a guy that turned out to be a producer and artist. And he knew half of the people in the Pasaz. That really has to mean something. I mean I've lived my whole life in Berlin and I would never know so many people in a club!
The only not so nice thing about the whole "going out spontaneously to tel aviv"-thing was that I could't take a bus "spontaneously" back. Because there where no buses driving anymore. So I had to take a cab back home.
Yeah that was my evening in Tel Aviv.

I guess routine is part of life. We get used to a lot of things if we just keep on doing them, seing them or hearing them. Like the work in the hospital. I get used to the staff, the patients, the sunrise above the first houses when I leave the staircase in the fifth flor every morning. Just a few more weeks and it will be "halftime". I don't know how things are going to be for me after this year but I can say for now that I'm happy. This year is not only about the things I experience here. It is also about appreciating what has been left behing. But that doesn't mean that these things and people will stay in the past. I rather think that it is a chance to show the appreciation towards them. It is a chance and I'm glad to have it.
