i was thinking about this when the song came on the other day. like dang, that scene set the lightheartedness that disney usually has apart from how dark and tragic war is, and the threat of the Huns was really recognized. one of the reasons mulan is my favorite Disney movie. it shows a more realistic side that most childrens movies dont, and i really like that.

the switch from ‘a girl worth fighting for’ to coming upon the decimated village in mulan is THE MOST kick-in-the-teeth mood change IN ALL OF CINEMA
