An My Adventures with Superman Fanfic
So I wrote this before the last two episodes aired of My Adventures with Superman and I was just inspired to write out this crossover. Featuring my own version of the Doctor. And since Doctor WHO just aired it’s 60th, I’d thought it was time to finally get this out of my drafts. Enjoy!
The Doctor saves Superman
“Jimmy…what are we going to do?” Lois whispered her eyes still on the plane becoming a black dot on the horizon.
“We…we’re going to save him.” Jimmy hesitated but finished in resolve.
“Save him? How? We don’t even know who took him!” Lois exclaimed.
“Then we’ll find out. That’s what we do right? We investigate and get the truth.” Jimmy replied.
“And then what? Go against a top secret government organization armed with alien tech? With what? A camera and a tape recorder?” Lois argued.
“Then we’ll get help!” Jimmy insisted.
“Who? Who could possibly help us save Clark?” Lois asked.
Before Jimmy could answer, a strange metallic noise interrupted them. A grinding mechanical noise that went “Vworp! Vworp! Vworp!” A wind picked up out of nowhere. A flash of light. They gasped as a blue box started to fade into existence out of nowhere before them. Above a row of glass panels the box read, “Police Public Call Box”.
Finally with a metal boom, the light on top of the box stopped flashing and the wind died down. Their mouths hung open as the double doors pushed open and a brunette woman in her thirties stuck her head out. She was wearing sunglasses and a lei over a white trench coat and short blue dress and asked Lois and Jimmy in a British accent,
“This…isn’t Palmero City is it?”
“Uh…no. This is Metropolis?” Lois replied.
“Oh! Brilliant! Not far off then. Blimey. What happened here?” The woman asked stepping out and lifting up her sunglasses to observe the destruction in the park.
“Superman got into a fight. And he lost.” Lois rubbed her arm.
“Superman? Wait! Metropolis! Oh and this is the 21st century yeah?” The woman exclaimed.
“Uh…why wouldn’t it be?” Jimmy finally spoke up.
“Hazard of a time traveler. Sometimes you get your centuries mixed up. You should have seen me show up for Madame Du Pompadour’s birthday with banana daiquiris! The French Court went wild for them of course…” the woman rambled.
“Wait. Time traveler? IS THAT A TIME MACHINE!?” Jimmy cried unable to help himself from geeking out.
“Jimmy come on. How can that be a Time Machine?” Lois asked giving the blue box a skeptical eye.
“Uh because it appeared out of nowhere Lois!”Jimmy replied.
“Okay so it might be high tech. But how do we know it can travel in time?” Lois asked.
“Guess there’s only one way to find out.” The woman gave a knowing smile.
Then she snapped her fingers. The doors of the box opened inward. A warm glow of light beckoned them from within. Jimmy and Lois stepped forward to look. They gasped. Jimmy in delight, Lois is shock. Inside was a massive futuristic control room. The center console with six sides surrounded a glowing column with engraved circular carvings. In short…
“It’s bigger on the inside…” Lois muttered.
Jimmy laughed with glee and he darted inside taking pictures of everything. Lois stepped over the threshold but turned to the woman. Her expression evaluating Lois carefully.
“Who are you?” Lois asked, wary.
“I’m the Doctor. And I’m the one that will help you save Superman.” She said gently.
“Doctor Who?” Lois asked.
The Doctor closed the doors behind her,
“Just the Doctor. Trust me it’ll save time when you’re running for your life. Now. This fight, when did it happen?”
“Just a few minutes ago.” Jimmy answered.
“Right. Perfect. Then we can use the TARDIS to track the people who took Superman.” The Doctor said passing Lois to start flying around the console, flipping switches and pulling levers.
“The what-sis?” Jimmy asked.
“The TARDIS. Time and Relative Dimension in Space. That’s my time travel ship. Can go anywhere and any time. We’ll just go back and see who took Superman and Fanny’s your aunt!” The Doctor explained.
“Go back? As in back in time?” Jimmy asked.
“You can really do that?” Lois asked.
“Have a bit of faith Lois Lane.” The Doctor gave a wink. Then she pulled the largest lever on the console and the TARDIS took off with a shake that jostled them on their feet. The vworp vworp vworp sound started up again, the center column of the console moving up and down in sync.
“This is crazy.” Lois shook her head.
“Hey right now this is our best chance at saving Clark. I can live with crazy.” Jimmy told her in a soft whisper.
“But why is she helping us? Why should we trust her?” Lois whispered back.
“Because what other options do we have?” Jimmy retorted.
Within moments the TARDIS stopped and the Doctor declared,
“Here we are then. Metropolis Park. Fifteen minutes ago.”
“Really?” Lois asked, skeptical.
“Watch the screen.” The Doctor nodded to the monitor she turned on.
Lois gasped seeing Ivo torturing and fighting the blue and red clad superhero.
“Clark! No! Jimmy we’ve got to help him!” Lois said rushing to the door. Only the doors wouldn’t budge.
“What? No! Let us out!” Lois barked at the Doctor. Who had a solemn look on her face.
“I’m sorry Lois. But crossing into pre-established events can destroy the fabric of reality. We’re here only to learn who took Clark.” She explained.
“No! We can stop this! We can help him!” Lois raged at her, tears in her eyes.
“We are helping him Lois! I know that need to fix everything wrong with the past. I struggle with it every day. But there are fixed points in time. Fixed points that can’t be changed. If we interfere now, we risk the end of this universe as we know it.” The Doctor stressed.
“But he’s dying…” Lois whispered tears rolling down.
“Not on my watch. I promise.” The Doctor swore.
“Why should we believe you? Why should we trust you?” Lois yelled.
“Because you’re Lois Lane and Jimmy Olson. And that is Superman. More importantly that is Clark Kent. I know who all three of you are. I know your future. A future at risk right now if we don’t learn what we need to learn. I can help you save him Lois. Trust me to save him. And you’ll find out exactly who I am.” The Doctor promised.
Lois was quiet a moment before letting her hand drop from the TARDIS doors.
“Thank you Lois.” The Doctor nodded.
“So…now what?” Jimmy asked trying to break the tension.
The Doctor returned to the monitor,
“Now we watch. And wait.”
Lois winced as Clark cried out in pain as Ivo tortured him, turning away,
“I can’t. I can’t watch…”
“No one is asking you to.” The Doctor told her, eyes of steel focused on the screen.
Lois shut her eyes, but a voice ordering Ivo to stand down caught her off guard. A familiar voice. She looked at the screen, eyes wide,
“Dad?”
“Wait what?” Jimmy startled as Lois stepped forward to watch the General talk to Clark gruffly.
“That’s…that’s my dad.” Lois said, still in shock.
“I’m sorry Lois.” The Doctor said sincerely.
“Hold on. The General that’s been after Clark this whole time? Your Dad is a general and you didn’t think it might be him!?” Jimmy demanded.
Lois ran her hands through her hair,
“I haven’t talked to him since he was a Colonel.”
The Doctor scoffed,
“Someone got a promotion…”
“I can’t believe this. No scratch that. I can believe it. He’s always been like this. First my mom…and now Clark? We have to stop him.” Lois stated in resolve.
“Right then. Now obviously he’s set up his base of operations near Metropolis. Since he’s able to move back and forth so quickly. And oh. I see he couldn’t help but use some Kyptonian tech to trick out the plane.” The Doctor deduced typing on her keyboard.
“Kyptonian? As in Clark’s home planet?” Jimmy asked.
“Yup. Quick scan around Metropolis for Kyptonian tech…and there’s the base.” The Doctor said showing them the location on the monitor.
“Can you take us there?” Lois asked.
The Doctor smiled at her,
“I can do better than that. We can beat them there and have time for tea.”
She flew around the console again, resetting the coordinates and pulling the main lever to take them back into the time vortex. Right before the Jimmy and Lois of twenty minutes ago made it to the spot in the park where Clark had been abducted.
…
“Aah!!!” Clark cried as the machine zapped him again. It had only been a few minutes since they had strapped him into the device but it felt like years. The General glared down at him as Clark asked out of breath,
“Where….am I? Agh!”
The machine zapped him again, the General growling at him,
“You can’t punch your way out of this Superman. When is the invasion? How many more of your kind are coming through this time?”
Clark looked up,
“This time? You…met others like me? When…agh!”
He gritted his teeth in pain as the machine zapped him again. The General got in his face,
You dare pretend that you’re the innocent one here?!”
Clark looked down, despairing the hatred the General had in his eyes.
“That’s because he is General.” Spoke up a feminine British accent.
The General spun around and Clark looked up. Leaning against the wall was a brunette in a white trench coat, blue dress and red army boots. Clark noted the look of total confidence in her eye.
“Who the hell are you!? How did you get in here?” The General barked.
“I’m the Doctor. I’m here for Superman.” She replied shifting away from the wall to stand before him.
“Doctor Who?” The General narrowed his eyes.
“Hmm. The fact that you’re asking means your security clearance isn’t as high as you think it is. Hullo Superman. You alright?” She breezed past the flabbergasted General to Clark’s side.
“I’ve…been better…” Clark quipped with a weak smile.
“I’ll bet. Here. Let’s take care of this shall we?” The Doctor said pulling out a long cylindrical metal tool with a glowing amber stone at the end from her inner breast pocket.
“Weapon!” The General yelled pulling his gun. Two laser guns lowered from the ceiling and started blasting.
“No!” Clark cried, his blue eyes flickering a moment. Only to watch in amazement as the lasers merely bounced off an invisible wall between them and the General.
“What? How?” The General asked aloud dodging friendly fire.
The Doctor snapped her fingers and a blue British police box rippled into visibility out of nowhere besides them.
“Sorry about that General. The TARDIS force field was supposed to absorb the energy of the lasers.” The Doctor said pushing a button on her device, which opened the locks on the cuffs trapping Clark with a light buzz. Then she pointed her device over her shoulder and the lasers turned themselves off.
“How did you do that?” The General asked.
“Sonic screwdriver. Never leave the TARDIS without it.” The Doctor tossed the screwdriver up in the air and caught it.
“What? Who are you? How did that box get in here?” The General demanded.
“The same way that she’s going to leave. Only we’re taking Superman with us. As for who I am, you really don’t want to know that General.” The Doctor warned.
“I see. You’re one of them. The invasion is about to begin.” The General nodded.
“Actually I’m a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. Err…Time Lady rather. Still getting used to the new parts. Anyway Superman is a son of Krypton. And what makes you think Kryptonians are going to invade the Earth?” The Doctor asked.
“Because it’s happened before. A scout ship. Luckily the Earth prevailed and we took out the alien threat. Used their weapons to build our defenses. And when he showed up, we knew more would follow.” The General explained.
“That’ll be some trick. Considering Krypton blew up twenty two years ago.” The Doctor replied.
“What?” Clark and the General chorused. Which is when the General finally registered the surprise on Superman’s face.
“Look at him General. Really look at him. He’s just a kid. He was just an infant when Krypton was destroyed. He was just a child when that Krypton scout ship came. He was raised here on Earth. He only learned the name of his home-world a week ago. Yes. His alien biology reacts with Earth’s yellow sun thus giving him powers beyond belief. But aside from one bad day he had after completing exhausting himself from trying to help everyone, he’s done nothing to merit this barbarism.” The Doctor hissed.
“Really? All that power and he just wants to help? Why would he do that?” The General retorted.
“Because it’s kind!” The Doctor shouted. She continued,
“Kindness! In a world so lost in cynicism it questions anyone who honestly believes he can use his gifts to make the world a better place! A selfish world so used to people asking “what’s in it for me?” A world where the powerful abuse the weak to a point where they literally ask the powerful to make their lives harder so they can wallow in self pity while blaming everyone but themselves for their troubles. A world that doesn’t deserve a Superman. But he’s here to help anyway. Because it’s kind.”
“Kindness doesn’t win wars Doctor.” The General responded.
The Doctor scoffed,
“Oh I know about war. You see my planet is gone too. Because of a war. And we had no Superman. But we had plenty of soldiers. None of them could save my world. I couldn’t save my world. Because I was a soldier too. And now I’m the last of my kind. But I’ll be damned if I ever choose cruelty over kindness again. Doubt over hope. Cynicism over optimism. That’s who I am. That is who Superman is. I save him. He saves you.”
“How can I believe you?” The General asked.
“Because you’ll believe her.” The Doctor said.
“Her?”
“Lois!” The Doctor called.
“Lois?” The General asked confused.
Lois opened the TARDIS doors and glared at her father. Then she went to Clark,
“Superman!”
“Lo…Miss Lane! What are you doing here?” Clark coughed as Jimmy came out too to help him up.
“The Doctor helped us find you.” Lois replied.
“Lois! What are you doing? He’s dangerous!” General Lane demanded.
“To who? You and your goon squad? The Doctor is right. Superman isn’t an threat. I should know. I’ve seen him do nothing but help people. Any problems he’s technically involved with are caused by people like you who can’t believe he’s that good. But he is.” Lois looked up at Clark who smiled.
“Fine. He may not be a threat to us. But there are others like him out there I know it Lois! I’ve seen it. And they aren’t “kind.” Trust me.” General Lane told her.
“Oh please like I’d let that happen! Most aliens know that I protect the Earth. They wouldn’t dare!” The Doctor exclaimed.
“What?” General Lane started.
“General I’ve been thwarting alien invasions before your grandfather was in diapers. From races far more dangerous than Kryptonians. Honestly I could use Superman’s help. You lot are under an invasion threat like every week…and always at Christmas for some reason…” The Doctor said.
“Every…every week!?” The General questioned in disbelief.
“Trust me. I’ll take care of it.” The Doctor assured him.
“So will I.” Clark spoke up. He continued, straightening up,
“General I may be from Krypton but the Earth has always been my home. I was raised here. I want to protect it as much as you do.”
“How can I be assured you’ll never turn on us?” General Lane asked.
“Because he won’t. He’s not like that. Trust me.” Lois said confidently.
The General sighed.
“I don’t know…”
They jumped as a phone went off with a ring tone that went ‘Do-wee-doo…do do do…do…do doo!’.
“Uh…Doctor? Your phone is ringing?” Jimmy pointed to the TARDIS.
The Doctor opened the phone box on the door and answered,
“Ah! Right on time. Hullo! Joe! How are you? How’s Jill? And the grandkids? Brilliant. Listen we’ve got a bit of a code Nine here Joe. Yeah. He has no clue who I am. Yeah he’s a four star general but I think they only promoted him so he wouldn’t ask questions. Yeah I know. Well he’s taken Superman prisoner. Oh no Superman is no threat at all. Have I ever steered you wrong? Oy! That time with the Cybermen doesn’t count! How was I supposed to know they’d wind up in King Arthur’s court? Look why don’t I bring Superman by the White House for tea? You two have a lovely chat. Take a few pictures. Then you can assure the people of Earth Superman is on your side? Oh sure. General. He’d like a word.”
The Doctor held out the receiver for the General to take. He answered,
“Hello?” He straightened up instantaneously, “General Samuel Lane Sir. Yes sir. Yes sir. I understand Sir. Yes Mr. President. Superman and the Doctor are free to go. And I will relinquish my other prisoners to police custody. Yes Sir. I understand sir. My apologies Sir.”
Clark, Lois and Jimmy were wide eyed as the General handed the Doctor back the receiver. She told the President,
“Alright Joe we’ll clean up and see you for tea. What time? Friday? Brilliant we’ll be there after a few hours. See you then Joe. Give my love to Jill. Ta.”
She hung up and closed the phone box, telling her companions,
“Lois? Jimmy? Help Superman into the TARDIS won’t you? I’ll just be a moment.”
They helped a still weak Superman limp into the time ship. But not before Lois spared her father one last glance. Then they shut the door behind them. Clark’s muffled voice exclaiming in surprise,
“IT’S BIGGER ON THE INSIDE!?”
“This isn’t over Doctor. I still believe hostile Kryptonians are out there.” The General insisted.
“Then it’s lucky you have one on your side. In the meantime I’d worry about why nobody else here on your top secret base has interrupted us. Because I can promise you this. You got off easy today.” The Doctor insinuated with a dark tone that made the General put a hand on his weapon again.
She snapped her fingers and added,
“Also word of advice? I really would ask who would promote you to run this little operation but not let the President of the United States catch wind of it.” They she smirked and stepped inside her box, which instantly faded away with that metallic grinding noise.
Amanda Waller instantly burst through the door shouting,
“General! We’ve been hacked! Someone left a virus on our system. Even the Kryptonian tech isn’t working. Where’s Superman? Is he behind this?”
The General took the tablet she handed him, seeing a taunting Blue police box with the words “Doctor Who?” On the screen. He sighed.
“No. Definitely not.” He grumbled. All the while wondering how his daughter got involved in all this. And if the Doctor had a point about his superiors.
…
The TARDIS materialized in a Kansas corn field. Jimmy burst out, exclaiming,
“THAT! WAS! AWESOME! I mean first the Doctor hacks into those computers like it was nothing! Faces down lasers (and Lois’s very scary Dad) without blinking an eye! And now we’re going to meet the President of the United States in two days!”
“Well we’ll take an day so Clark can get some sleep. Take Clark to Friday tea and then get you lot back to Metropolis before anyone thinks you’re missing. Time Machine remember?” The Doctor leaned against her console.
“So awesome!” Jimmy squeed.
Clark scratched the back of his neck, asking Lois,
“So…that was your Dad?”
“Yeah.” Lois sighed.
“And he already hates me. Great.” Clark joked.
“Clark I’m so sorry! I had no idea he was involved I swear. I’m just so glad you’re alright.” Lois hugged him.
“And I’m glad you’re okay. But it looks like you were in good hands.” Clark turned to the Doctor, “thank you.”
The Doctor smiled,
“You are welcome. Now. Before you get rested up to meet the President, you need to give him some better answers than “I don’t know” and “I’m still figuring it out.” Would you like to know who you are Clark Kent?”
“Please.” Clark nodded.
They followed the Doctor out to the Kryptonian ship buried in the corn field.
“Activate the hologram Clark.” The Doctor instructed.
“But I can’t understand the language.” Clark protested.
“You just traveled in the TARDIS. She emits a universal translator that converts any alien language into English.” The Doctor countered.
“So. Awesome!”
“Jimmy…” Lois scolded.
“Go on. It’s okay.” The Doctor assured Clark.
Clark activated the hologram. The man wearing a black version of his suit appeared before him. He began in perfect English,
“My son…”
“You mean…he’s my birth father?” Clark looked at the Doctor.
“Shush. Listen.” The Doctor urged him.
Clark listened as his father went on the events displayed in the hologram making more sense to Clark as he watched,
“If you are watching this, then you survived the destruction of our home planet Krypton. I am Jor-El. Husband of Lar-El, Your mother. And you were born Kal-El. The last son of Krypton.
I was a scientist that tried to warn our people about the fate of our planet. But they chose to listen to the advanced artificial intelligence that controlled our society’s infrastructure. By the time i realized destruction was imminent, I only had enough time and resources to design a small craft meant to bring you to the closest planet that was compatible with our biology.
Though I’m not sure exactly how their yellow sun will affect you. I do theorize you will be stronger and faster than the people of Earth. But I urge you not to dominate them. But show them that the best of Krypton lives on in you.
This symbol on our ceremonial armor is our family crest. It means “hope”. A hope that you can share with Earth. To guide them. Show them. To protect them. To save them from repeating Krypton’s mistakes.
That is the only legacy I can leave you. Besides a suit of armor of your own and the tech inside the ship that will grow and adapt as you do. Your mother and I may be gone by the time you watch this. But know that we did this because of our endless love for you my son. And we can rest knowing we did everything we could to save you. You…are our hope.”
Tears were streaming down Clark’s face when the hologram ended,
“They…they died trying to save me.”
“Oh Clark…” Lois whispered tears in her eyes too as she stepped forward to comfort him. Jimmy patted him on the back,
“That’s rough Man.”
“I’m sorry Clark.” The Doctor apologized. Clark turned to her, resolved as he said in his “Superman” voice,
“We can fix this. We can just go back in time and save them right?”
“Clark the destruction of Krypton is a fixed point in time. It can’t be changed.” The Doctor shook her head.
“But we can save them! They didn’t have to die! I can save them!” Clark argued.
“How? Here in the solar system you have powers but on Krypton? You would be just an ordinary man.” The Doctor pointed out.
“I don’t care. I have to try. You have a Time Machine. You can help me.” Clark insisted.
“And then what? Would you be able to stand by and let the other people of Krypton burn? To ignore the terrified cries of children? It’s too risky Clark. You wouldn’t be able to just save your parents and no one else.” The Doctor countered.
“How would you know!?” Clark barked in frustration.
The Doctor waited a moment. Eyes glistening with unshed tears. Then she said,
“2.47 billion.”
“What?”
“That’s the number of children that were on Gallifrey the day the Time War ended. When my planet burned. I counted them. I know what it’s like Clark. But I learned a long time ago that you can’t save everyone. You go mad if you try.” The Doctor replied gently.
“But I can help! I know I can…”. Clark began in a small voice,
The Doctor soothed him,
“Clark, Clark, Clark. You are amazing! You know that? All those muscles and the strongest one is your heart.”
She tapped his chest as he gave a shuddering breath. She went on,
“It’s okay. Because you are not the only one who can save people. You met me yeah? I’ll help with any alien threats against the Earth. Every time! And there are others out there. Kind, brilliant people just like you that have extraordinary gifts and powers. That you can rely on to save their little corners of the globe. It’ll be a while before you meet them but believe me. Together you’ll save the world. And in the meantime you have some really great friends to help you now.” The Doctor nodded towards Jimmy and Lois. Clark smiled at them, realizing the Doctor was right.
“Thank you.” He told her.
“Now. You won’t be saving anyone if you fall asleep while you fly. Believe me. Just ask the Egyptians about how the Sphinx lost its nose. So let’s get a proper meal in you. Let you take a nice long bath and a nap. Then we’ll take you to meet the president yeah? Into the TARDIS with you.” The Doctor ordered.
Clark chuckled,
“Yes ma’am.”
The Doctor lead them into the TARDIS kitchen where a full meal was waiting, piping hot. The Doctor regaled them with stories of her adventures making them laugh and nearly forget the horrific day they just went through. Then the Doctor took them into a series of guest rooms. Fantastical guest rooms. Clarks had a bathroom designed to imitate an open concept bath that lead into a private beach. After a good long soak, he slipped into some borrowed pajamas and fell asleep listening to ocean waves.
Checking in on him, Lois smiled fondly at his sleeping form. Quickly crossing the room to give him a gentle peck on the cheek and tuck him under the covers. Brushing the black curl out of his face.
She left him to sleep, finding herself wandering back to the console room. The Doctor had taken them off into the time vortex. Lois watched her fly the time ship, before the Doctor asked,
“Couldn’t sleep?”
“Not yet. Still thinking about my Dad.” Lois admitted.
“For what it’s worth I think he believes he was doing the right thing. He was just asking the wrong questions.” The Doctor said.
“But when you confronted him. I realized I had asked you the same questions he had. Those same suspicions. Those same doubts. I never wanted to be like him.” Lois sighed.
“No Lois. You asking questions. Trying to find the truth. That’s what makes you a great reporter! You may have gotten those instincts from your father, but you choose to act on them in a healthy way. A productive way. Your Dad is a soldier. Somewhere along the way he got interrogation confused with asking questions. One involves forcing the truth. Another is about learning the truth. And you know the difference.” The Doctor encouraged her.
Lois nodded, considering. The she asked,
“There is something else I’d like to learn. You said you were the last of your kind. So how did you survive the destruction of your planet?”
If the Doctor was surprised she didn’t show it. She shook her head, amused,
“Never get one by you Lois Lane.”
She sighed and began,
“The enemies we fought were called the Daleks. The most terrifying army in the history of the universe. They were literally born to kill anything that isn’t Dalek. The Time Lords fought them all over space and time. And then they attacked Gallifrey itself. When the Citadel fell, the high council of Gallifrey decided to surrender. Become beings of higher consciousness and leave the universe to the Daleks.”
“They were going to give up? Leave the universe defenseless?” Lois asked.
“Yup. But then they heard that one soldier…that used to call themselves “Doctor”, had taken the one weapon they wouldn’t dare use. The weapon that would instantly destroy all life in a single galaxy in but a moment. Sparing only the one that would dare push the button.” The Doctor revealed.
“You…destroyed your own planet?” Lois gasped.
“I was given a choice between the universe and Gallifrey. And I chose the universe.” The Doctor said.
“So you really do know how Clark feels about Krypton.” Lois said.
“Only he never has to deal with the guilt of destroying Krypton. Just plain ordinary survivors guilt. That’s something he can get over. With time. And the people he loves to help him.” The Doctor said. Then Lois’ eyes widened when the Doctor pulled out the sphere Lois had been carrying around for the last week.
“Hey! How did you?….”
“When we scanned for Kyptonian tech earlier. Imagine my surprise finding one inside the TARDIS.” The Doctor tossed it up in the air.
“Have you watched it?” Lois asked.
“He’s not like those other Supermen Lois. Believe me. You’ve got one of the good ones.” The Doctor told her.
“I know. I mean I did doubt a little bit. But that’s more about me than him right?” Lois said.
“So what’s bothering you then?” The Doctor asked.
“All those Supermen. They only turned bad because they lost their Lois Lanes didn’t they?” She asked.
“You met some of them.” The Doctor pointed out.
“But they weren’t with their Clark’s. They even developed weapons to stop them.” Lois argued.
“Ah yes. Kryptonite. Well. Green Kryptonite rather. The only thing that can kill Superman.” The Doctor said opening the sphere and taking out the green crystal.
“Kill? Get rid of it before Clark gets near it!” Lois cried.
“And that’s why your Clark will never be one of the bad ones! Because you are just as committed to saving him as he is to saving you. So long as you’re together nothing will stop you.” The Doctor stated.
“Okay that’s kinda scary. We just started dating but between finding out we’re a thing in almost every universe…and that I already feel this strongly for him. It’s a lot.” Lois admitted.
“The best things in life usually are. Have a bit of faith Lois Lane.” The Doctor gave her a wink before she tucked away the Kryptonite and sent the sphere into an air tube that took it who knows where in the TARDIS.
Yet Lois knew that she could trust the Doctor to keep it far from Clark in her amazing ship. She could trust the Doctor with anything!
…
“I can’t believe I trusted her…” Lois grumbled as they watched the live news footage of Superman meeting the President in the guys apartment.
“Oh come on Lois. She locked me inside the TARDIS too.” Jimmy said typing on his laptop.
“And then she had the TARDIS take off to bring us back after Clark was done meeting with the president! The story of a lifetime and I missed it!” Lois groused.
“The Doctor was making sure Clark has an alibi. So that if anyone suspects he’s Superman, we can collaborate his story that he was watching Superman on TV like everyone else.” Jimmy explained. Again.
“Grrr…”. Lois growled moodily.
“It is so weird to watch yourself live on TV…” Clark shook his head. Amused seeing the Doctor making the President laugh. While the talking heads speculated about who she was.
“I better get an exclusive interview “Superman”.” Lois told him poking him in the chest.
“As if there was any doubt. Here. I snagged you a coaster from the Oval Office.” Clark handed her the contraband.
She smiled, teasing him,
“Look at you Smallville. Breaking the rules for a change.”
“Don’t get used to it Miss Lane.” Clark teased back.
“How are you doing? Are you okay?” Lois asked him.
“Yeah. That time in the TARDIS really helped. And the Doctor gave me some good advice about how to balance work, life, superhero stuff.” Clark said.
“Like getting sleep?” Lois eyed him.
“The Doctor gave me some special earplugs.” Clark replied.
“Good. Because if you ever scare me like that again Smallville, you’ll have to deal with me.” Lois playfully punched his shoulder.
Clark chuckled,
“Yes Ma’am.”
“Whoa…”. Jimmy exclaimed.
“What are you reading Jimmy?” Clark asked.
“Well I thought I’d look the Doctor up. You know throughout history? Apparently she met Vincent Van Gogh.” Jimmy passed his laptop over to Clark.
Lois looked over his shoulder and saw a painting. Titled ‘The Pandorica Opens’. Lois exchanged uneasy glances with her friends. Despite the abstract style, it clearly showed an exploding TARDIS.
