1. Net neutrality rules restored by US agency

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission voted 3-2 on Thursday to reinstate landmark net neutrality rules and reassume regulatory oversight of broadband internet rescinded under former President Donald Trump.

2. Airlines required to refund passengers for canceled, delayed flights

DOT will also require airlines to give cash refunds if your bags are lost and not delivered within 12 hours.

The refunds must be issued within seven days, according to the new DOT rules, and must be in cash unless the passenger chooses another form of compensation. Airlines can no longer issue refunds in forms of vouchers or credits when consumers are entitled to receive cash.

3. How new mosquito nets averted 13 million malaria cases

Compared to standard nets, the introduction of 56 million state-of-the-art mosquito nets in 17 countries across sub-Saharan Africa averted an estimated 13 million malaria cases and 24,600 deaths. The New Nets Project, an initiative funded by Unitaid and the Global Fund and led by the Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC), piloted the use of dual-insecticide nets in malaria-endemic countries between 2019 and 2022 to address the growing threat of insecticide resistance.

4. Germany has installed over 400,000 ‘solar balconies’

This new wave of solar producers aren’t just getting cheap electricity, they’re also participating in the energy transition.

More than 400,000 plug-in solar systems have been installed in Germany, most of them taking up a seamless spot on people’s balconies.

5. Voyager-1 sends readable data again from deep space

Max Hodak's startup, Science, is developing gene therapy solutions to restore vision for individuals with macular degeneration and similar conditions. The Science Eye utilizes optogenetics, injecting opsins into the eye to enhance light sensitivity in retinal cells.

Clinical trials and advancements in optogenetics are showing promising results, with the potential to significantly improve vision for those affected by retinal diseases.

Jiang Cheng is so aroace to me and I have said it before and I will say it again

He definitely eventually marries because he needs to for political reasons but he just marries a friend who is good at fighting and stuff and they are literally just buds and she has many lovers

He literally doesn't care and often forgets she's his wife and not his second in command

But like I want Wei Wuxian post canon (when they are sorta cordial and maybe sorta trying to awkwardly rebuild their relationship) to see Jiang Cheng talking to an attractive woman in Jiang sect robes handing him some paperwork and after she leaves is like: "Ho ho! Who is that pretty lady?" (⁠｡⁠•̀⁠ᴗ⁠-⁠)⁠✧

"Hm? Oh that's my wife." Jiang Cheng replies not even looking up from his paperwork

It takes Wei Wuxian weeks to recover

I’m going to make my response it’s own post because I think the point is important

As someone who is autistic and has BPD and CPTSD and loads of trauma yes you sometimes need to change how you interact with others to keep people around

When I was 13 I hit the few friends I had when I was angry

I had to change that in order to keep those friendships

When I was in my early 20s if I was losing an disagreement with my husband I would threaten to kill myself. My husband told me it hurt him and was cruel and manipulative behaviour, because it was.

So I worked hard to change that to keep my relationship

It’s easy to say “I shouldn’t have to change for others” and that’s true to an extent. You shouldn’t change your interests or passions or dim your light. And you should have space to be imperfect and flawed and not have to pretend your ugly bits aren’t real. But if something you are doing it causing other people harm you kinda need to change that.

That’s called “living in a society”

People adapt to each other and make space for each other in their lives. You adapt to them and they adapt to you

You start being more diligent about throwing away the empty toilet roll because it really bothers them. They start warning you before they run the blender because you hate loud noises

I stopped threatening to kill myself because I was mad I was losing an argument and my husband stopped being so vocally judgemental amount media he personally dislikes

There is a certain type of person who heard the phrase “your emotions are valid” and took that to mean “my emotional reactions and my behaviour are always objectively correct because my emotions are valid and if you have an emotional response or react to what I’m doing negatively then you are wrong and you can’t be hurt because my emotions are valid”

And that’s a recipe for disaster

Your emotions are valid to feel. They are how you feel and there are reasons you feel the way you do

However, your reactions and behaviour are something you can learn to control and can be irrational

We live in a society and we as people change each other as we interact and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing
