Baizhu reincarnated Guizhong, Zhongzhu, angst

A week or so before the Rite of Descension, Baizhu happens upon a cave obviously imbued with adepti magic. There, he finds Guizhong's resting spot, untouched by the thousands of years past.

The flowers are closed, and there's no body, so Baizhu doesn't identify it as Guizhong's grave. Instead, he intends to pick a few flowers to study them- after all, they are unchanged by evolution.

Something happens and he falls onto the flowers, crushing them.

After a moment, he wakes up as both Guizhong and Baizhu. He looks up to see Morax's eyes trained on him, but before he can speak a word he is thrown out of the cave and nearly dies from the force of it. Changsheng, who had been outside the cave, heals him and waits for him to wake up.

Baizhu waits for the Rite of Descension in a depressed mood, intending to talk to Morax. Instead, he watches the god fall from the sky and die before him, leaving both a broken heart and a broken man.

He spends a week after that mourning. His glasses, broken from the incident, are left behind. From there, he sees Qiqi talking with the traveler and Zhongli. He can't recognize them, especially because they are simply blurs of colors without his glasses. After a talk, he decides to tell them about his past life and reveals that he no longer considers himself to be Morax's lover after nearly dying to him.

Zhongli is horrified. He had been overly possessive of his lover's grave, of the untouched flowers, that when they were crushed he threw the mortal out of the cave without care.

Zhongli decides to make it up to Baizhu, falling in love all over again. Baizhu, without his glasses, doesn't recognize Morax and falls in love with Zhongli.

And then, when Zhongli tells him that he loves him; that he never meant to harm him; that he loved him both as Guizhong and Baizhu, they start dating.

Or, perhaps, Zhongli doesn't find out. Baizhu is taken by this man who might remind him too much or Morax, and starts wooing him. And then, starts withdrawing after Zhongli falls for him because of various reasons.

After all, Baizhu had never told Zhongli of his past life, hiding the most important secret.

Or Zhongli starts withdrawing when he recalls how he had hurt Baizhu, that every tidbit of this man he learns is every tidbit he'd had killed had he been a bit harsher.

And, well, their love story might end there. Or, as they live on, Zhongli realizes Baizhu never ages. He confronts him, and Baizhu confesses he was Guizhong, once upon a time- a time he denied after his near death.

Zhongzhu, Dendro Archon Baizhu AU; a brief glimpse into a possible timeline.

Baizhu is the dendro archon, who had entanglements with Zhongli before he “died.”

Prior to Khaenri’ah's destruction, he created a machination to be his replacement, sort of like Raiden Ei’s puppet, in preparation to have a domestic life with Zhongli. However, when Khaenri’ah happens, he is severely injured and is sunken into the Earth. Responding to his incapacitated state, the puppet activates – this is how Nahida is formed.

The Earth of Sumeru responds to Baizhu’s state, degrading and eroding. Decades before the traveler is found, his form and mind has eroded into a child’s. This when his parents found him and raised him, before dying and leaving him to his master.

He can’t hope to recover when Nahida’s power is abused by Sumeru, drawing from his own power. Once his master dies and his vision is formed, it’s simply his desperation showing. He takes on the contract that draws from life force, not power. From then on, Sumeru begins to degrade to the state the Traveler finds it in, with almost the entirety of it a desert.

Meanwhile, once Baizhu dies, Zhongli turns his gaze from the other nations in grief. He lives on, knowing that Nahida is just a puppet and hoping that Baizhu will one day show up. Eventually, he grows weary, and plans his fate.

Baizhu awakens the day of the Lantern Rite, his memories going back to him; the immortality he sought for solidifying into his bones. He witnesses Zhongli’s death on a time he is extremely vulnerable.

A series of events leads them to not meet until the Traveler is finished with their journey in Sumeru. Baizhu is in a much better state thanks to the restoration, and that is how Zhongli finds him. A healthy god in mortal skin, behind the counter of the well-known, and expensive, Bubu Pharmacy.

EXTRA NOTES

Venti is the only one left who is aware of their relationship. In the past, he played as matchmaker. After long events, both since when he joined the Archon war up to destroying Khaenri'ah, he has been helping them with their relationship. He's the sole reason they confessed to one another, from being the reason they were even close enough to be friends. After the Lantern Rite, he tried to use his winds to guide them back together. Unfortunately, Zhongli was not in the mood and Baizhu did not have such whimsies to follow the wind. TLDR; Venti was the GOAT.

Zhongli makes the decision to save Qiqi not just because of her tragic fate, but also because it’s what Baizhu would have wanted. He often wallows in sorrow and makes impulsive decisions.

There are many paintings and poems made by Zhongli himself, all in remembrance of the Dendro Archon. They are sealed in his home, some perhaps in ancient ruins, withstanding the tests of time. His memory never fades, but it’s this extra reassurance that keeps him sane.

kim dokja's been a demon king for all his life. one day, yoo joonghyuk appears, ready to kill him.

except, that's not really what happens. yoo joonghyuk doesn't immediately attack. and kim dokja's been alone all his life. when this human, handsome like a story protagonist with the skills and personality to match, shows up he can't help but be delighted. he takes him in as a knight, misunderstanding yoo joonghyuk's appearance.

he gives him some sort of elixir to make him immortal of sorts, then brings him around the castle. it's empty, not another being in sight.

kim dokja tells him his story. he was a child when hades and persephone took him in, the queen and king of the underworld. he was raised by them and rose naturally as a demon king. the castle he stayed in was gifted by his parents on the condition that he should never leave until he finds someone reliable.

so, kim dokja has always been in the castle, reading and doing whatever he can, alone

he turns to yoo joonghyuk. "now that i have you," he says, "i'll be able to explore to my heart's content."

the very next day, kim dokja and yoo joonghyuk leave. kim dokja first explores the closest town, and then beyond that, with yoo joonghyuk trailing behind silently. yoo joonghyuk falls for this man. he begins making meals for two, leaving the tomatoes out. on late nights, he reads how demons court.

months later, when yoo joonghyuk is presumed dead, kim dokja decides to go to the human world.

"you were human," kim dokja says. "yoo joonghyuk-ah, won't you guide me around?"

so he does. he brings him to the place he grew up, where he trained, and along the route of his journey. he brings him to the forests and the beach, flower meadows and long stretches of grass. yoo joonghyuk courts kim dokja all the while, watching him carefully.

yoo joonghyuk and kim dokja kiss, the kisses again and again and again until they're sure that they can't be apart of one another.

if that was a tale of soft romance, then this is the tale of two crazed lovers.

humans invade the castle weeks after they come back. kim dokja was reading books on the throne, yoo joonghyuk silently standing by his side as his only knight.

they attack immediately. they disregard the knight at first–he had no demon features and could honestly be some armor on a dummy.

that is, until, the first head flies. joonghyuk stands resolutely in front of the demon king, using magic to block him from other attacks. unknowingly to the everyone else, he blocks kim dokja in an illusion, having him stay in the peace just moments earlier.

blood decorates the hall, the army of soldiers unable to fend off the knight. arrows and slashes of swords bounce off the barrier, and soon heads bounce off of the ground.

yoo joonghyuk is tired and without the mana to sustain it, the illusion fizzles away.

kim dokja looks up to see yoo joonghyuk being attacked, scratches on his body. kim dokja is enraged. he kills any life force around that isn't yoo joonghyuk, before taking him to their bathroom. yoo joonghyuk is soaked in water, blood washed away to show the scratches underneath. he's bandaged and fed potions and elixirs.

to make him stronger, live longer, give more vitality. he can't leave kim dokja's side.

all the while, kim dokja is upset. how did this happen? how could he let this happen?

barriers are erected around the castle. in the following week, demonic plants and gargoyles surround the castle. the throne room is cleaned and life continues as normal.

Normal, until the next army comes. there are more humans, more skilled, with better gear. even if half are wiped out by the defences, the other half still makes it to the throne room and attacks.

kim dokja is injured.

the first attack is with magic that slips through the crevices of the barrier, burning kim dokja with holy magic.

yoo jooghyuk is enraged. as if it was his last stand, yoo joonghyuk fights. one slash ends three lives. he puts magic in his last slash, burning the mage alive.

the castle is imbued with a spell to swallow the spilled blood and become stronger. yoo joonghyuk begins to train kim dokja. kim dokja learns that his magic can be used for harm.

the next time and army comes, yoo joonghyuk wins without an injury. as armies come again, they are murdered, until the next hero comes.

for a prophecy had been brought to the world years ago, back before yoo joonghyuk had met kim dokja.

a valiant warrior, great in all aspects, would slay the demon king. shall the warrior fail the world shall fall, the underworld taking over.

or something like that. the "hero" attacks and yoo joonghyuk is injured. his eye has been pierced and his helmet knocked off, revealing the identity of the knight.

everyone is shocked. yoo joonghyuk was the previous hero, advertised around the country and pronounced dead months, maybe years, ago.

kim dokja is angry. he rises from his throne, wings spreading, and starts using his magic. ice encases the army and fire burns them alive, some are pierced with arrows and others beheaded.

"yoo joonghyuk!" the hero shouts, holding his shield up. "snap out of it! you're possessed by the demon king!"

yoo joonghyuk glares, raising his sword and beheading the hero.

kim dokja, in a panic, uses forbidden magic to heal his eye, imbuing it with this magic.

...eventually, kim dokja decides to end it once and for all. fed up by the invasions, he destroys the human empire and rebuilds it anew. he marries yoo joonghyuk and they become the emperors of a new empire.

i didnt finish Debut or Die yet but the prompt wouldnt stop bothering my waking days

what if, after moondae performs a song, he has to experience whatever the characters in the song is

after october 31 performance moondae has to live the life as a vampire and such

the length he stays in the worlds differ, and variables such as audience or length of song would change how long he stays there

this could be listed as a skill, like [Immersed in the Song] or something, and as the skill levels up so does his control over the staying in worlds.

in the game promo, when he performed, he used to see a world with his concept. however, after the theory video, the world changed significantly. now, when he performs it, he sees a world where he does not exist. instead, a robot does.

the worlds change based on people's perception and public opinion. moondae begins finding it really important to explain the concepts, something everyone finds strange. someone eventually asks him abt it, and when moondae tells them they sign him up for counseling.

or, y'know, they also get dragged in at some point--when moondae's skill is at lvl a~s--because moondae panics or something. who knows.

i dont have much to offer, but what i do have? happy thoughts. yeah.

during the scenarios he can finally give the protagonist gifts and celebrate it with him. no one has any clue its yjh's bday so they find it watch in confusion as kdj piles gift after gift on top of yjh.

yjh spends the time doing his favorite things - taking care of kdj, gaming, and bedroom things.

that night, kdj celebrates it with yjh quietly with a small cake the latter bakes. the star stream is off, everyone's gone to bed - its just the two of them.

kdj, of course, knows yjhs bday and decides to be nice to his stalker. he avoids getting hurt for the week and spends all of his time with yjh during this time (all other plans have been cancelled).

yjh spends this time taking the utmost care of kdj, and kdj ends up with the softest skin he had since the scenarios (maybe even since childhood), the most delicious food hes ever had in the largest quantities ever.

kdj honestly thought that this was more of a celebration for him than yjh, but its well deserved. he has to put up with yjhs bullshit everyday and sometimes some plans dont go to plan.

hes cleaned too many bodies for yjh to not deserve this.

so very unfortunately, a constellation tries to rizz up dokja and yjh just has to defend his honor. by unaliving. this officially crosses a threshold and the dokkaebis and other constellations try to split yjh and kdj apart.

but you know, seperation makes the heart grow fonder, so they end up finding each other one way or another

genie au where kdj finds the lamp

kdj, a simple commoner who's favorite book is essentially telling the tale of yjh, the emperor/king/archduke, and regression. he idolizes yjh (even if the book is fiction) and when he finds the lamp, he wishes to be apart of his next regression

lo and behold, kdj finds himself at the gala where yjh's journey kicked off

kdj is set on becoming companions with yjh.

because the book is historical fiction kdj is much less surprised but more informed

the genie acts as the "fourth wall" or bihyung, whichever you prefer

kdjs second wish is the ability to revive, right before he sacrifices himself or smth

when kdj meets hsy, he reveals his wishes and hsy is like, "what an idiot"

you could have a happy ending, like the ones in a fairytale, or you can have kdjs wishes to bring so many consequences that kdj has to "wish for himself to unexist" to protect the ones he love.

for example, everytime kdj revives a part of him is destroyed (amnesia to erasure of history/personality)

and of course you could have fluff, like a kiss (or more) recovers the bits of kdj lost

enabler kdj only recognizing yandere yjh's obsession w/ him because he's the mc, but is oblivious to anyone else's affection twrds him

ysy tries to clue kdj in on the weird occurrences but kdj is oblivious/misunderstands it and starts taking her words as a joke

no one can really say anything to him when yjh takes up so much of his time

still enabler kdj so internally, he is giddy at all the time yjh dedicates to him, ans starts pushing to see the limits. he puts himself in dangerous, self-sacrificing scenarios and watches yjh save him each and every time.

(meanwhile the rest of the team feels useless at being unable to save kdj like yjh can)

yjh feels more and more gratified as kdj starts to rely on him more and more. this comes to a breaking point when kdj is affected by the failure in a scenario (yjh did not attend), causing his skills to be turned down/off.

yjh holes kdj in some abandoned building for the duration of the time, where not even the star stream can see them.

when they return to the company building, no one can even utter a worry for kdj before yjh sweeps him away to another scenario.

lately, ive been thinking of a mdzs x genshin crossover au

anyways my thoughts are: zhongven = wangxian

basically wangxian becomes immortal but are transported to Genshin via array before the archon wars happen. wwx and lwj are seperated and as the years go by they start changing

wwx is stuck as a wind spirit in mondstadt, unable to leave due to decarabian

lwj is a dragon who is looking for wwx and helping the common folk (and subsequently becoming their ruler)

archon war happens, but its different! wwx doesn't meet any humans but leads the rebellion against decarabian, using cultivation to bring him down (kind of like the sunshot campaign at a smaller scale). he takes on the form of the same person venti did in respect for all that they have done, and he arrives near the end of the archon war declared as the anemo archon.

lwj protects the common people, and bc of being so busy w his search for wwx he doesnt meet many people zhongli did. he still hires the yakshas (bc he finds them tragic) and he still follows some of his clan's rules. he becomes the geo archon and rbe first thing he does is create a winery (hidden as a mortal) and make emperor's smile to lure wwx.

they meet and have intense cultivation (the dual kind).

blablabla years go by lore kind of the same. they cant leave teyvat due to celestia's gaze on them.

instead of going into a coma, wwx just dual cultivates w lwj and is taken care of in a private abode (the teapot or wtvr its called)

the traveler falls from the sky and more lore, except at some point they get married and lwj inherits the winery that makes emperors smile

they are rich because lwj is smarter and has this urge to spoil wwx

you can decide whether they still go by wwx and lwj or if they take on zhongli and venti (id imagine they still call each other wy and lz) and if their godly names are different from genshin

anyways adding onto lore (ig?) wwx plays the flute mostly and lwj plays a qin (and any stringed instrument like a lyre or a harp) and there is like, a legend abt that maybe? like "the music of two lovers, seperated by the contracts of liyue, played within the night, praying to meet once again" and wwx just thinks its hilarious and often jokes abt it to the other og archons (before they, yknow, die)

no one knows but in the oldest contracts in liyue, wwx (barbatos) and lwj (morax) are married

ok but venti and xiao soulmate au

mortal soulmates live and die together (nothing special, really) while immortal soulmates have to complete a mission to rest with their soulmate in "heaven" (or whatever you'd like to call it. maybe celestia). they aren't told who their soulmate is, but because venti is a wind spirit he can just feel the tune of wind connecting him to xiao

so he gets onto his mission

his mission is to protect xiao until he bids his final goodbye (which venti finds ridiculous because why would he ever say goodbye to xiao?)

xiao- who doesn't know his soulmate- has one simple mission; choose to go with his soulmate or stay to take on the place of them.

and xiao, being the emo he is, wants to get that over with and tries to find his soulmate not realizing it was venti. venti sticks by xiao's side, doing his best to protect him. xiao just wants to go to heaven (only possible via completing the mission) and see the rest of the adepti.

anyways, xiao slowly tries to get venti away from him and when he can't, he'll do the most mind numbing things that venti would doze off and he could leave. internally, he falls in love w venti w/o realizing it.

the final choice comes when venti is worn down, ready to go back to the winds and xiao who is still searching for his soulmate.

venti asks xiao to take a walk with him, a long one so they could feel the wind. particularly busy that day, xiao denies and says he's going to do his work.

venti fades into the winds that day, leaving his gnosis on xiao's bedside table in the wangshu inn

xiao has to deal with heartbreak when he realizes his mission has reformed; take on the place of his soulmate
