The Boy in The Band
Chapter Seventeen:
The next few days at the Potterâs were spent roaming around the 15 acres of land they owned and trips down to the local village where the boys grew up. Remus missed the sweet smell of the countryside. He especially missed the nights they used sneak out to one of the fields to look up at the stars.
Today was the day he and James would drive back to Manchester. Remus was really going to miss it. He would miss the not having to worry about what would happen in the busy city. He had talked to Effie, when he was actually able to speak properly, and she had recommended to him one of her therapist friends who was in Manchester. She would have loved to help him herself, but with the distance it wasnât really possible, and she didnât like doing sessions over video calls.
âYou boys be safe driving home, ok?â Spoke Euphemia Potter in her stern but gentle tone Remus and James knew very well. âWe will mam donât worry.â James told his mam hugging her small frame and kissing her on the cheek. âSee you soon Effie.â Remus said to the kind woman. âSee you soon love, I hope you look into McGonagall, I think sheâll be a lot of help.â Effie spoke to the young man in front of her. Remus nodded his approval and said goodbye to Monty. âHope you feel better soon Monty. Wishing you the best.â Remus said hugging the older man. Remus didnât know what he would do if his cancer got worse. Fleamont had been as much as a dad to Remus as he had been to James.
âWell moonshine, I think we better get going if we wanna beat the traffic back to Manchester.â James said to his friend who nodded in agreement. âYeah. Letâs go Prongsie.â âI never did understand the weird nicknames you gave each other.â The three men laughed at that. Remus and James climbed into the car and set off down the long driveway, Remus sticking his head out the window to wave to the two parents.
âHow ya feeling Rudolph?â Remus asked. âBit emotional, glad Iâve got to see them both. Specially my dad. It was nice you know, seeing the village again.â James answered feeling the nostalgia of being back at home. âYeah, I get you. Youâre right though, it was nice being back at home. Got to visit mam so that was good havenât visited her in a while. I talked to her; I told her about Sirius, about Lily and all the success the band has had lately. Even told her about the accident which I know she wouldâve had a heart attack when she found out about it.â The two boys laughed at that. They spent the next hour and forty minutes just having a laugh feeling like they were teenagers again, when James had just learnt how to drive, and they drove round the old village.
****
The boys had got back late yesterday and had pretty much crashed as soon as they got in the flat. Now it was the next day and Remus nearly dropped his phone.
âSirius!â Remus called for his boyfriend. âMoons whatâs wrong?â âWho was gonna tell me a second Mamma Mia came out?!â Remus asked betrayed that no one had thought to mention it to him. âI thought you knew. The trailerâs been out for months.â Sirius spoke nonchalantly not looking up from his phone. âMonths?! We have to go see this. When can we go?â Remus asked the man sitting on the bed. âI mean Iâm not sure, I was gonna take you on a date this weekend, but Iâve already planned something for it.â Sirius said to the tall lad. âOh, itâs ok. We can go see it another weekend.â Remus said disappointed. âSorry Moons, itâs just Iâve been planning this for a while.â âDonât worry about it. Seriously, Iâm looking forward to what you have planned.â Remus said.
****
After pleading and pleading Sirius to tell him where they were going, it was finally the day of the date. Sirius had placed a blindfold on Remus so he wouldnât know where they were going until they got there. Sirius knew being in a car with a blindfold would probably worry Remus, so he held his hand while letting him know the speed he was going as heâd picked up on the habit of wanting to know the speed the driver was going.
They arrived at the place and Sirius helped Remus out the car. When they got outside the building, Sirius removed the blindfold. âWait. Weâre at the cinema. Are we watching what I think we are?â âIf you were thinking Mamma Mia 2. Then you would be correct!â Sirius hadnât been lying about taking Remus on a date, he really did want to. He just had no ideas, so when Remus came asking about the film Sirius knew it was the perfect opportunity. âOh my god, Sirius. I love you.â Blurted out Remus. He covered his mouth as soon as heâd said it. âYou. Love me?â Sirius asked his boyfriend. He knew he loved Remus, but he thought he wouldâve been the first to say it. âOf course, Amor Meus.â Remus spoke. âI love you.â Sirius said back. He had never much agreed with the concept of adding âtooâ at the end of it. He thought it kind of took away the meaning of it and you were just saying it because you felt obliged too.
Remus grabbed Siriusâ wrist and dragged him around the corner of the building. Remus took the shorter boyâs face in his hands and kissed him passionately. The younger kissed back with an equal amount of love and passion. Remusâ hands moved to Siriusâ long, black locks, running his fingers through it. The two pulled away for breath and rested their forehead against the otherâs. âThat wasâŚamazing.â Sirius spoke first breaking the silence between the two.
The two boys walked in through the entrance of the cinema and went over to the front desk. âHi. Two tickets for Mamma Mia 2 please.â Sirius asked the lady working the desk. She handed them the tickets and they walked over to the food stands. Sirius said that he would pay for everything as it was his idea for the date and wanted to treat his boyfriend. Remus got a blue Tango Ice Blast and Sirius got red. The two boys also got a large popcorn to share and walked into the cinema.
âThat was the second-best film Iâve ever seen. The original the first, obviously.â Remus said as they were walking out the screen room. âReally? I thought that one was better, each to their own I guess.â Sirius added. âUsually, Iâd be insulted at that, but Iâll let it slide because I love you.â Remus told his boyfriend.
The lovestruck couple came stumbling into the flat like they were drunk. âGuess you two had fun then?â Lily asked from Jamesâ side on the sofa. âYeah, the film was great!â Remus said to the other two. âDid you get Ice Blasts?â James asked the pair. âYeah I got blue, Sirius got red.â
âThen why are your tongues purple?â

I Shall Drive you Insane.
â I shall drive you insane, and anyway no one shall ever accept it.â spoke the porcelain woman on the staircase, voice low as to not draw any attention. âYou shall not, you are the best thing to happen to me in my short life.â Came another voice filled with femininity. âAny small thing could drive one insane, including the person they claim never shall.â The woman on the staircase spoke again, voice weary. âOur love is strong. Little things like annoyance and irritation cannot nearly compare to it. Our love is what makes our souls resistant to people who try to poison our minds with things we know shall never overcome us because we are so much stronger than they.â The feminine voice spoke once more following her secret lover up the winding stairs.
She followed her until they came to the balcony, where no one could bother them in this quarrel. âLove makes you stupid and blind. It makes you shallow and unaware to the reality of life. It makes you dream of such things that cannot be made possible and makes you wonder of things so far away you will never reach them.â âThen let me not see anything again.â She proclaimed willing to never set her eyes upon anything ever again if it meant being with her star-crossed lover.
âTo not see, is not to know.â âThen let me know nothing.â The pale woman was starting to get frustrated. âKnowledge is to the mind what satisfaction is to the soul.â She recited like something from a book in their many royal libraries. âThen tell me what I should know. Lead me through the light and the dark and the day if it means I shall stay with you.â The darker woman said.
âWhat if I myself do not know? What if I fall blind and sick in the mind and cannot take you, lead you, cannot remain with you?â Confessed the other, scared she would fail her doomed lover and herself. âThen we shall carry on together Marlene, blind as we go never seeing anything again, knowing, feeling the presence of one another may not be for you, but shall be enough for me.â She took the porcelain face in her hands, looking into worried eyes. âThat should be enough for in the future it might not be, but for now it would be enough.â Â Marlene spoke feeling the warmth of the golden-eyed woman holding her. âThe future is nothing but a fragment of time. What matters is it shall be enough in this fragment and possibly in all others, we shall not know until we get there.â The other woman spoke again.
âDonât be silly Dorcas, to get anywhere is to get nowhere. Then again, to get nowhere can be to get everywhere.â Marlene said. âThen let us go nowhere again and let nowhere be our everywhere.â Dorcas started. âLet us stay in this safe haven where no one shall ever tell us how to live or who to be again. Let our love overtake us, let it consume us until the only things left are our souls.â She finished, hands still holding the pale face. âIt should be as so. Love should nourish the soul, shouldnât it?â Marlene asked. âIt should and for us, forever shall. Let our souls be nourished till they can nourish no more.â
âBut it doesnât. A soul cannot be left behind if a soul does not thrive, and tis not love that makes one do so. It is compassion and empathy. It is adoration and respect. It is satisfaction and daydreams. I am afraid I do not posses those.â The blonde had left the otherâs warm grasp and had started pacing her pink gown following her, partly being blown by the warm wind of the summer night. Her hair, long and beachy, currently topped with a crown made my flowers she remembered picking with the girl now sat on the railing of the balcony who then spoke up.
âThen let our souls carry to others and inspire those the same as us. Let them have the strength to do what we shall do and let go of people and things holding them back from being who they truly are.â âLet it be as so and it shall be. Let the nature take itâs course and all will be well, maybe love could help. Not suffice, never suffice, but could help for sure.â Marlene stopped pacing for a moment and looked to the sky. She couldnât help but imagine all the lives she could have had if she had been given a different role to play in life.
Dorcas got up off the rail, lavender gown spilling out from where she had sat upon it. âAnd once our souls are left empty yet again unable to find people willing to be strong enough to do what we shall soon, let them be one with nature taking forms of biological life, the tallest tree, the prettiest flower, the home to other soulful creatures. Let them find homes in place they feel home.â She finished now standing next to the girl she so longed to be able to love freely. âHome will never be a place. Some say itâs a person. A feeling. An emotion. Home is a state of mind and of matter, a state where one feels safest, most at rest. Where one finds it easy to rest their crown with no worries of it being taken from them.â Marlene stated, wanting just even a second to be able to rest her own crown. âThen let them rest, let them be free to: swim through a stream, to inhabit creatures of all kinds. Let them be free to soak into the ground when their last drop of energy has dripped, and they can go no longer.â Dorcas pleaded, wanting the blonde to just be able to have a moments rest, like her life depended on it.
âA soul deserves rest as one deserves life.â âThen let them rest where they please, where they feel most comfortable.â Dorcas grabbed Marlene by the shoulders their eyes meeting once more. âHome, let them go home. We deserve to go home.â It was as if she had come out of a trance finally realising how tired she really was feeling everything hit her like a ton of bricks, her knees giving out but Dorcas being there to catch her. âWe are each otherâs homes, I hope.â âYou will always be my home.â âAnd you, mine.â Marlene had always been Dorcasâ home. Dorcas had always known, and she had never doubted it.
âIn some way, some form, in some state. We will be the otherâs home.â The blonde said. âOur souls shall always find home and comfort in one another.â Dorcas proclaimed knowing it was true. âI suppose that is what makes one a soulmate.â Marlene laughed feeling delirious. âWhen our souls meet we shall forever be at peace. âAnd hopefully one day they will find that peace.â
âAnd when our bodies go weak and we breathe our last breath, let our souls intertwine and rest, always together. As things should be.â
âAs things should be.â

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Sixteen:
It had been a few days since James and Remus had arrived in Harrogate. Remus had really enjoyed being back in the familiar house, but he still couldnât bring himself to try and sleep.
He and Sirius had kept in touch, and by keeping in touch for Sirius was texting Remus every five minutes asking if he was ok. You might think thatâs annoying but Remusâ heart was too full of love for his boyfriend he couldnât bring himself to be annoyed.
 ****
One of the nights he felt really jittery, Remus went down to the kitchen to make himself a cup of tea. The Potterâs also had one of the Quooker taps, which was lucky for him, so he wouldnât wake any one up. âMake me one then love.â came Euphemia Potterâs voice. Remus jumped out of his skin getting a sense of Deja Vu from his and Jamesâ night in the kitchen. He made himself and Mrs Potter a brew and handed it to her. âTa love. Now this probably isnât a conversation you want to have, but I think you need it.â Effie spoke softly. âNow, Remus, care to tell me why you arenât sleeping.â âHow did you know?â âMothers always know Remus. Anyway, I know I asked you this the night you arrived, but are you seriously alright after the accident? I know and have seen plenty of people who have had trauma and, or PTSD after an accident. And from what I heard it was an awfully bad accident.â Euphemia worked as a therapist linked to many hospitals including the one, he and James ended up at. She had seen many cases like this.Â
âYou know, itâs ok to ask for help Remus. No oneâs going to judge you, youâve just been through a traumatic event. No one expects you to be ok straight away.â Effie reassured him with a smile. Remus tried to deny it. He tried to deny that he wasnât ok, but with Euphemiaâs kind face and soft words. He couldnât hold it in anymore. Â She wrapped his arms around him, and it was the last straw, he broke down into a full-on sob, legs buckling, dragging both of them down to the kitchen floor. The kind mother just held him like he was a small child.Â
He told her everything. He told her about the reoccurring nightmares he kept having, he told her about the not wanting to get into the van before the drive here but doing it anyway for Jamesâ sake. He told her about the constant checking of the vanâs speed and how close they were to the cars in front of them, hell he even told her about Peter. None of this affected the kind woman, she didnât chastise him for not saying anything about Pete. She just let him cry and let all his feelings out. He cried that much he ended up crying himself to sleep.
 ****
Remus woke up the next morning with a headache. He looked to the side of him to see a glass of water and two paracetamols. Next to the glass, Remus noticed there was a sticky note, he picked it up to see it read, âThought you might need this love.â With two kisses. He silently thanked his saviour Euphemia Potter and swallowed the tablets. He got out of the guest room bed and walked into his en suite. Remus looked into the big glass mirror above the sink. On his cheeks, there were dried tear tracks, and his eyes were red and puffy. âGod, I look disgusting.â Remus told himself. He took one of the facecloths placed next to the massive sink and placed it under the tap, rubbing his face with the cloth he noticed how dry his skin was. He looked into his toiletries and grabbed the moisturiser his dermatologist told him to use.
When he was a teenager, Remusâ skin had been prone to acne. No matter what he did he just couldnât get it to go away, the number of different products he tried probably made it worse. His mam had seen how irritated he was getting over it, so she took him to see a dermatologist to see if they could do anything to help. They had told him that it was completely normal for his skin to be acting like this as the hormone blockers he had started taking were mixing with all the products he was trying and was making it worse. They told him to just wash his face with warm water and then use a moisturiser that was fragrance free so it wouldnât mess with his hormone blockers. So, he had started doing that and over time, his skin got better. He had been using that same brand of moisturiser since he was 16 and it worked.
After Remus had showered and got changed, he went into the kitchen to find the whole family there. Effie gave him a knowing smile but kept her mouth shut. Then it hit him, he hadnât had a nightmare last night. He figured it was just a one off and they would probably be back, but it was progress, nonetheless. He walked over to the table and grabbed a piece of buttered toast. âIâm going to see my mam today, if thatâs ok.â Remus spoke half a piece of toast in his mouth. âYeah, thatâs fine love, I got you some flowers to take her, her favourites.â âThanks Effie.â âWant me to come too Moony?â James asked from the table next to his dad. âI think I wanna go alone, seeing as Iâve not visited in a while.â James nodded and went back to his breakfast.
****
Remus pulled up to the cathedral near his old house and turned off the engine. He sat there taking a few deep breaths, so he was prepared to go in. He grabbed the purple lilies of the passenger seat and got out the car. He opened the gate to the cathedral graveyard and walked through the familiar trail to where his mam rested.
âHi mam. Itâs me, I know I havenât visited in a while, and Iâm really sorry about that. Iâve been busy mam, Drowners has been doing really well. I mean, weâre going in tour in September so thatâs good right. I also met someone mam, youâd really like him. His nameâs Sirius. We met in a really odd way actually.â Remus laughed sitting against his mamâs tombstone. âIt was through a competition I came up with. I really love him mam. I havenât told him yet, but Iâm going to. I also got in a car accident, was in a coma for five days. He sat with me the whole time, hell he drove four hours straight after heâd found out. James is doing well; heâs got a girlfriend. Her nameâs Lily, like the flower, sheâs the sweetest person Iâve ever met. I miss you mam, I really miss you, and Iâm sorry I canât visit more often but I know that you would rather me pursue my dream than being held back here by you.â Remus kept talking to her for hours until it started to rain. âGoodbye mam.â He whispered. He kissed the tips of his fingers and pressed them to the top of the headstone and left.

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Fifteen: T.W: mentions of rape.
It had been four weeks since the accident, Remusâ nightmares hadnât stopped. If anything they had gotten worse. Every time he even shut his eyes, the flashback of the car hitting them would show up in his mind. He hadnât slept in weeks, running on caffeine and avoiding sitting down and taking a break at all costs. He hadnât told Sirius about the nightmares not wanting his boyfriend to worry about him anymore than he already is.Â
Remus was nervous. Today was the day he and James were going to Harrogate and he hadnât been able to get back in a car and actually go somewhere since the accident that left him in a coma. He tried not to show it but Sirius being Sirius managed to pick up on it.
The older lad was doing a last minute bag check, when Sirius decided to speak up. âI know youâre nervous about getting in the car Remus but James is an excellent driver, which you probably know more than I do, and youâll be ok.â Remus knew he was right, but he was still worried. He hadnât talked about it much and he hadnât yet found the correct way to tell the rest of the band, and he knew he should, but Peter had seemed fine after the accident and seemed to be the one to take the least damage. It turns out the hospital had missed the internal bleeding from his brain and he had passed a week ago from it. He knew he needed to tell the band but he just didnât have the heart. âHey Sirius, I donât know how to tell the rest of the band this, but Peter our manager he actually passed last week. The hospital missed the internal bleeding that was in his brain and he died at home. Thatâs made me even more worried about this and itâs just. A lot. I think Iâm gonna tell James this week though and tell the girls when we get back.â Remus admitted feeling horrible heâd kept it to himself for so long. âOh. Iâm sorry come here.â Sirius opened his arms for the man to climb into. âI know how close he was with you guys.â Sirius consoled his boyfriend.
****
The two bandmates loaded up the bandâs minivan, and set off on their drive to Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The drive was about an hour and forty minutes, so not massive really. James stopped at a service station for a coffee and got Remus a hot chocolate, then they were off again. Remus put his headphones in and listened to his music while staring out the window. He constantly found himself checking how fast James was going and the distance between their van and the vehicle in front. James felt fine, he had been the one to come out with the least injuries as he was in the back behind Peter who was driving. The crash hadnât half as much affected him as it had Remus and Pete. Remus got the worst of the impact as the speeding car hit into his side door. It was a miracle he had lived he had told the doctorâs say to his friends one time.
âYou alright there Moon man?â James asked his friend who had barely spoken a word and just kept looking around like a lost cat. âYeah. âM fine. Just a bit cautious you know?â Remus told his best friends his eyes not leaving the road ahead of him. âYeah, I get it, I mean youâre bound to be nervous we were in a car accident just under a month ago. Why donât you try get some sleep.â James reassured his friend, but Remus wouldnât be getting any sleep anytime soon. âYeah, I guess youâre right mate, Iâm not really tired if Iâm honest.â Remus said trying to hold back a yawn. It was a lie. He was extremely tired, but he couldnât let himself fall asleep at the fear of having another nightmare. Remus sat the rest of the drive in silence.
The two boys arrived in Harrogate at 17:00PM. They had both agreed to go to Jamesâ house first for a few days then they would go see Hope. âHello my favourite boys!â Came the cheery voice of Euphemia, or Effie, Potter. She wrapped her small frame around the two tall lads. âHi mam.â James smiled basking in the familiar feel of home. âHi Effie.â Remus hugging her next, welcoming the loving hug. âOh my! How you two have grown up!â Effie spoke having to look up at her now towering two sons. When they last saw the two elder Potters, Remus and James had both been under 6ft but now James was 6â˛2 and Remus had shot up to 6â˛4. âYou two must be starving, come on inside Iâve just made enchiladas and theyâre still hot!â Remus didnât know where Mrs Potter got all her energy from he had always admired her for that. She never complained about being tired, but Remus could see she was getting older, her hair greying and her eyes looked more tired than he had ever seen them. He knew that Fleamont being sick probably wasnât great on either of them. He really loved Mrs Potter, she had helped him in his early transitioning stages and she had helped him when heâd gotten his period a week earlier than schedule and told him not to worry.Â
Growing up, when he wasnât Remus but Holly, he had never felt like he belonged. He always wanted to play with action figures instead of barbie dolls. He preferred playing football with his boy mates instead of playing tea party with his girl friends. So when he told his mam he was transgender, she wasnât at all that surprised. Remus used to believe that was the reason his dad had left him, but he realised later on that his dad just wasnât a genuine man. His dad ended up in prison for theft and rape. Euphemia Potter had offered to pay for his top surgery but Remus and Hope had both agreed they couldnât take that amount of money from her. On Remusâ fifteenth birthday, he got an envelope from all the Potterâs that had half the amount he needed for the surgery. There had been a lot of tears and âThankyou, thank you, thank youâsâ from Remus.Â
Remus and James walked into the Potter house to find Fleamont Potter sitting on the sofa watching the football. âDAD!â James shouted running over to the sofa smothering his dad in a bear hug. âJames, donât crush âim youâ only just got âere.â scolded Mrs Potter who was setting the table. âIâm not made of glass Mia. Come here Remus, give me an âug.â Spoke the fatherly voice of Monty Potter. After Remus had given him just as big a hug as James had, he went and helped Effie set the table. After they had finished, Euphemia, Fleamont, James and Remus all sat down and ate dinner like they used to.

Chapter Fourteen: T.W: mentions of suicide. Panic attack.
After being asleep for a few hours, Sirius woke up. He didnât remember falling asleep in his and Remusâ bed but here he was. He didnât remember getting changed out of his clothes heâd been in all day either. So overall, he was confused. He looked at the alarm clock to see that it said 1:00am, then he realised the left side of the bed was empty. Remus was usually in bed by now. Instantly thinking the worst, Sirius ran out the bedroom and through the apartment opening every door he could.Â
âRemus! Remus!â He cried, trying not to let the overwhelming fear of panic take over his body. Hearing the cries of the 20 year old, Remus shot up from his spot on the sofa and ran into the hall. Before he could think, the boy came running around the corner crashing into him. âHey, hey, Amor Meus, whatâs wrong?â Remus asked. Remusâ dad was Latin so growing up, before he left, he taught Remus to speak Latin along with Hope teaching him some Welsh. Sirius said nothing just wrapped his arms around Remus, his breathing heavy almost like he couldnât breathe. He was having a panic attack. Remus grabbed his hand doing what Lily always does, rubbing circles into his palm along with trying to crack his thumb. He also occasionally whispered sentences in Latin. He would say things like âEgo sum hic Amor meus.â, Iâm here my love, and âOmnia suus â iens ut sit ok.â , everythingâs going to be ok, he didnât think Sirius would be able to understand him but he still said it just at the off chance he did. âThought. You. Were. Hurt. Again.â Sirius spoke through pants still holding onto Remus like he would disappear if he let go.
****
it was Sunday afternoon, and James and Lily were watching a Disney film in bed. âJames?â Lily spoke. âYes, love?â James replied eyes glued to the screen. âI was wondering, and you donât have to answer, but I noticed whenever youâre on the phone to someone or talking to someone close to you, you always tell them you love them before you hang up or leave. Even if youâre mad at them. Why?â Lily queried.
âWell, when I was fourteen, my friend. Emmeline. She had never had a great childhood, her parents divorced when she was 13 and before that all they would do was argue for hours on end. When it got particularly worse, some nights, she would run over to my house. She only lived on the next street so we were always close. She would knock on the door, sometimes at 21:00PM, other times 2:00am. My mam always had the blow up bed ready just in case. After her parent had finally divorced, they had gone to court for custody and they had got shared custody of her. She would always try and avoid going to her dadâs and I never understood why, until one night. I had heard a knock on the front door and I assumed it was Emmeline, which it was, and opened the door. I remember it so clearly. Emmeline was covered in bruises, some new some old, and she had blood dripping down the side of her face. I yelled up the stairs for my mam and told Emmeline we needed to get an ambulance, but she refused. She begged and begged for us not to call one and that she was fine. I know we should have still called one but we didnât. I saw her the next day at school, and she was acting like nothing had happened like she wasnât dripping in blood the night before. Me and her got into this huge fight. There was yelling and all that. She went home after school that night and she killed herself, and the last words Iâd said to her were I hate you youâve always been a stubborn little bitch. When Iâd found out sheâd killed herself I wouldnât leave my bedroom for weeks. I ate when my mum would bring me food and slept most the days away and the times I didnât spend eating and sleeping I was crying, hell even Remus couldnât get me to leave my room. So, yeah, thatâs why I always tell people I love them.â James finished. He was crying now, all the memories coming back to him. Lily wanted to cry too but she needed to be strong for James. She opened her arms for James to rest in while he cried. She didnât say anything just whispered reassurances into his ears while running her fingers through his hair.
****
After Siriusâ panic attack, Remus made him a cup of tea and carried him back to their currently shared bedroom. âYou ok Amor meus?â Remus asked his boyfriend when theyâd gotten comfy watching âThe Crownâ on Netflix. âYeah, feeling better now. I just panicked because I woke up and you werenât there so I automatically assumed the worst. You didnât tell me you knew Latin?â Sirius told Remus curious as to why heâd never mentioned it. âWell Iâm actually half Latin. My mamâs Welsh and my dadâs Latin, so growing up while me mam taught me Welsh, he taught me Latin. I donât speak it often sometimes I donât even realise it just happens.â Remus explained to his boyfriend who was curled into his side.Â
Sirius liked Remusâ bedroom. The walls were a light grey, much like the kitchen, and there were posters blue tacked up to remind Remus of his teenage years. He also had pictures of him and James and this girl who Sirius didnât recognise. There was also a picture of him, as a baby, being held by a young redheaded woman. Sirius thought she looked like Lily. She was smiling at the camera with a baby Remus in her lap who was smiling up at her like she had hung the moon. âHey Moons, is that your mum in that picture?â Sirius asked his boyfriend wanting to find out who the woman was. âYeah, Hope Lupin. My world, love her to bits. After my dad left, she really struggled but when we moved to Harrogate and we met the Potterâs, it was great. They were like a second family, always offering us help anâ all.â âDo you miss her?â Sirius queried. âYeah. Lots, but me and James are going to go back up their after James has his cast off so he can visit his mam and dad and Iâll go visit my mam.â Remus told him.Â
âIâll miss you when you go, and not just to Harrogate but when you go on tour.â Sirius said closing his eyes getting tired again. âIâll miss you too, but we can facetime Iâll call you after every show, if I havenât fallen asleep. Thereâll be breaks between each leg of the tour so I can come back. I could probably get you free front row tickets to the London show or, if you prefer, you can watch from the wings.â Remus told his boyfriend. âThat sounds nice.â Sirius yawned about to drop off. Remus was tired too. They both fell asleep, Sirius to Remusâ heartbeat and Remus from Siriusâ breathing.

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Thirteen:
Remus woke up in a cold sweat. He had had the nightmare again. He climbed out of his bed, careful to not wake his boyfriend. He walked through the flat being as quiet as he could be and into the kitchen.Â
Turning the lights on, Remus looked around the grey kitchen. The kitchen had many cupboards each filled with different things like plates, bowls and glasses. He walked over to one of the top cupboards and grabbed one of the mugs that he and James had made when they were growing up. James and Remus had one of those Quooker taps, the ones you can get boiling water from, which was a god send not having to wait for the kettle to boil. It also helped it didnât make as much noise as a standard kettle did when boiling. This was good for when James used to have really bad nightmares when they first moved in so he if he woke up and needed a cup of tea to calm him down he could make one without waking his friend up.
Remus grabbed one of the PG Tips tea bags from their tea cupboard and put it in the mug. âMake me one too then mate.â Remus jumped out of his skin. âHoly Jesus James. You scared the shit out of me!â Remus whisper-yelled at his friend. âSorry for not knocking on the door of my own kitchen.â James replied sarcastically. âGo on, make me one.â Remus grabbed the other childhood mug from the cabinet and put a Yorkshire Tea bag in before filling it up with boiling water. Remus gestured towards the fridge and James grabbed the milk. Remus didnât drink tea with milk, couldnât stand it, so he only put some in Jamesâ. He knew the Northerner's exact tea order. Milk, two sugars. he couldnât understand how James could drink it so sweet although heâs always had sensitive teeth so that might be why. âWhy you up so late, youâre usually passed out by midnight and itâs..2:00amâ James said looking at the clock. âJust a nightmare âs all.â Remus muttered through a yawn. James picked up his tea and took a sip. âAhh thanks Moony. You know you can talk to me about nightmares, I used to have a lot if you remember.â James told his friend. Remus did remember. He remembered the nights where they were so bad James ended up in hospital because he stopped breathing. He remembered the nights they were bad enough he ended up waking Remus up and asking to sleep in his bed with him. Remus always let him and he always would. James had been prone to nightmares as a kid too, he had no idea why but the poor kid just couldnât seem to escape them. He still got them occasionally now. âYeah, I know.â
The two friends walked out of the kitchen and walked into the lounge and sat on the sofa. âWhy are you up then?â Remus asked his friend. âJust worried âs all.â James poke in the same manner Remus had about his nightmare. It was scary how alike they were sometimes. âYeah, I get it mate but itâs gonna be ok. Monty will pull through and I tell you what when youâve got your cast off weâll go to Harrogate to see your mam and dad ok?â Remus reassured his best friend and he really missed the Potters and who knows he could maybe visit his mam too. âYeah that sounds great thanks Moony.â âNo worries, now lets try get some sleep, both of us, and weâll feel better in the morning.âÂ
****
Remus was right, they did both feel better the next day. Lily and Sirius had gone out for the day as they both agreed they hadnât spent much time together recently. James and Remus were meeting up with Marlene and Dorcas to catch up with the newly engaged couple.
The two boys walked, well James hobbled, into the costa across from their building, there, Marlene and Dorcas were sat in the corner talking heads looking up at the chime of the bell. They smiled and waved the boys over to them. âRight, you two leave for two weeks and you idiots get in a fucking car accident. How?!â Marlene spoke first. âAnd you still wonder why I call you mean lesbian.â Remus deadpanned. Marlene punched him. âHey you canât punch me! I was in a coma for five days!â Remus said offended. âYou woke up a week ago. get over yourself.â Marlene joked. âSo whenâs the wedding you too?â Remus spoke up. âWe arenât sure yet, but we know we want something small.â Dorcas told them.
After the four band mates had caught, James brought up something they hadnât yet spoke about. âSo, are we doing the tour this September or not?â the other three were shocked heâd brought it up so bluntly. âI mean Iâd love too after all thatâs happened Iâd love to get back playing live music.â Dorcas replied missing the feeling of playing for a crowd. âIâm down I mean it depends how you two lads are feeling.â Marlene added. âMy cast should be coming off in about three weeks so by September I should be fine.â James told the group wanting the feeling of a bass back in his hands. âIâm down, Iâd love to visit all the places again, we havenât been on tour in like ages so it would be nice to get out there.â âItâs settled then Iâll ring Pete to let him know.â Dorcas picked up her phone and dialled Peterâs number. âHello?â their managerâs voice came through the phone speaker. âHiya Pete, itâs Dorcas, I was just ringing to let you know weâre all agreed on the tour in September.â âThatâs great Iâll get everything sorted and weâll be good to go.â âThanks Pete.â After brief goodbyes, Peter hung up the phone.Â
****
James and Remus walked back into their shared flat to find both Lily and Sirius flat out on the sofa asleep. âAww look at our partners being all cute.â James spoke in a baby voice. âJames, I swear to god, never do that voice again.â âWhatâs got your knickers in a twist.â James mocked in that same baby voice. âIf Lily and Sirius werenât sleeping right now and you didnât have a broken leg I would tackle you to the ground.â James started laughing which woke Lily up. âJesus will you two shut up Iâm trying to sleep.â Lily groaned from her place on the sofa. âCome on Lils, my bedâs comfier than the sofa and you can get changed.â James said to Lily so she could be comfortable.Â
After the couple had left the room, Remus picked up his still sleeping boyfriend and took him to his bedroom. He placed Sirius on the bed and unbuttoned his jeans pulling them off his legs so he wouldnât be uncomfortable. He then took off Siriusâ flannel shirt and grabbed one of his old band tees that he knew would be too big on Sirius so he would be comfy.Â

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Twelve:
Four days later...
It had been four days since Remus had woken up from his coma and his health was almost as normal as it had been before the accident. He still had some physical problems in his neck and back from the impact. Sirius had stayed with him while James and Lily were back at the flat. The two best friends would be staying in Manchester for a while to help the two boys, luckily they had just finished until early September.
âHey, you feeling ok Sirius?â Remus asked Sirius as the boy seemed a bit off. âYeah, just tired is all, donât worry Moons.â âMoons?â âItâs like a shorter version for Moony.â Sirius explained. Remus just nodded before shuffling over signalling for Sirius to join him. âCome on love, try get some sleep. Iâll still be here when you wake up.â Remus told the small boy who looked younger than Remus had ever seen him. His eyebags were extremely purple and his once filled-out frame was now skinny and lean much like himself. Remus went to ask him if heâd been eating recently but he looked down to find the boy out cold. Feeling tired himself, the older lad fell asleep too.Â
****
Remus was in a car. âWhy am I in a car, Iâm in hospital right?â he thought to himself. He was in the front seat next to Peter who was driving. âI cannot wait to get to my own bed. I mean I know we âave like proper fancy hotels and shit but nothing beats being in your own bed.â Remus recognised that voice as Jamesâ. âToo right you are James, hotel room are nothing compared to your own bed.â Came Peteâs voice. Remus could hear them, but not greatly. He felt a buzzing in his left ear. He looked out his window, to see a car coming at them full speed. Before he could warn Peter the car had smacked right into Remusâ door crushing it along with him in the process.Â
****
âRemus. Remus.â spoke Sirius trying to wake the shaking Remus from, what he assumed was, a nightmare. âRemus!â Remusâ body shot up almost throwing Sirius off the hospital bed. âHey, Remus, look at me. Youâre fine, youâre ok. It was just a nightmare. Deep breaths.â Sirius soothed grabbing his hand to rub circles into it like heâd learned from Lily. He also managed to crack Remusâ thumb which relieved some tension. The tall ladâs breathing gradually calmed down, there was sweat dripping off him and his face was red.
âNight- nightmare. Car- car hit- hit us.â Remus tried explaining through his panting. Sirius handed him the bottle of water he had bought for him and Remus to share before. Remus leaned back against the propped up bed and took a few deep breaths. Sirius was still holding on to his hand afraid to let go. âAre you ok?â Sirius was the first to break the silence. âYeah completely fine just re-lived the thing that put me in a coma.â Remus spoke sarcastically. âYeah, sorry stupid question. Do you want me to get Dr Pomfrey?â said Sirius. âNo. Iâm fine was probably just a one time thing.â
****
Remus had been let out the hospital the next day. Dr Pomfrey had just told him to take it easy for a few weeks. So Remus had got changed out of his hospital gown, back into the clothes he was wearing the night of the accident, and left the hospital.Â
Sirius and Lily were both living in James and Remusâ shared flat with the two boys. Remus and Sirius were sat on the sofa in the lounge while James and Lily were watching a Disney film in Jamesâ room when Sirius spoke up. âI donât know if itâs the right time to bring this up after you just getting out of hospital and all, but I was wondering. What are we? Like are we a couple? Do you want us to be a couple?â Sirius rambled on. âI want to be a couple if you do. Iâd love to be able to call you my boyfriend.â Remus told Sirius reassuringly. âI would love for us to be a couple, I mean I especially wanted it after that night watching Mamma Mia.â Sirius said sheepishly. âWell then, Sirius Black, I know pronounce us as, boyfriends.â Remus announced like they were getting married. âOh my god, youâre such an idiot.â âBut Iâm your idiot.â âYes you are.â
****
It had been a few days since Remus had been back at the house and so far, he had been right. He hadnât had another nightmare since that one in the hospital. He was going out for lunch with James today. They werenât going very far as James obviously didnât want to strain his leg, but Remus wanted to talk to him about something James had told him while he was in a coma.
âYou ready to go Jamie boy?â Remus asked when James walked into the lounge, his crutches under his arms. âYep. Letâs go.â James and Remus walked out the door and over to the lift. Remus pressed the button and the doors opened. âAfter you My Lord.â âI hate you so much.â The two boys started laughing hysterically while the lift went down to the ground floor.
****
The Northern and Welsh lads walked into a restaurant in Central Manchester, they had been stopped by a few stray fans asking how they were and how they were feeling. They had said their helloâs and told them they were feeling better and not to worry. After the two boys had ordered Remus thought it was a good time to bring the subject up.
âJames, this probably isnât what you were expecting to talk about today but I wanted to make sure that what I had heard was true.â Remus told his friend. James had a thought that this was a topic they would have to talk about eventually but he didnât think it would have been so soon. âI heard you talking to me one night when I was in my coma and I wasnât sure I heard it right but you told me something about your dad being sick?â Remus didnât bother sugar coating it, he just wanted to know if what heâd heard had been correct. âYeah he is, he has Stage Two Cancer. Mam says the doctors are pretty sure if they get it quick enough then it wonât spread, but I still worry because it might only be stage two, but itâs cancer nonetheless.â James explained trying not to tear up at the thought of losing his dad. Remus was trying not to cry too. Fleamont, or Monty as he liked to be called, was just as much as a dad to Remus as James. Remus had moved to Harrogate after his dad had left him and his mum, so Monty had been like a dad to him. âI get it James itâs scary and you know your dad, heâll pull through it I know.â âI sure âope your right Moony.â

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Eleven: T.W: Homophobia.
Three days later....
Five days had passed since the accident. Sirius had tried to stay off social media as much as he could so he wouldnât have to read some of the scary and/or crazy conspiracies people were coming up with. Today he couldnât help himself, he clicked onto twitter and he saw that #WhathappenedtoRemusandJames was trending.Â
Sirius clicked on the hashtag and started scrolling. He saw some that said things like âI bet itâs all a PR stunt so the band actually makes money.â and others along the lines of âI hope James is dead. Never liked him.â He knew it was a bad idea, but he kept scrolling and scrolling until he came across one that made him sick. The tweet said âI hope Remus Lupin suffered and died the f*g and I hope his little t*ink boyfriend kills himselfâ Sirius ran to the bathroom and threw up.
He just so happened to run past Lily and James coming back from Jamesâ appointment for his concussion. âHey Sirius? What-â Lily started but was interrupted by the door in her face. She could hear Siriusâ retching from outside it made her feel sick. James had gone into the room to see if he could find anything that had triggered Sirius being sick and he found, face up unlocked, his phone. He read the thing that had, he assumed, made Sirius sick. He walked out the room.
âLily, look.â James handed over the phone to his girlfriend. Lilyâs mouth dropped at the tweet. âOh poor thing, no wonder heâs being sick. We need to get him out of this hospital for some fresh air.â Lily told James. âI know but he refuses to leave Remusâ side, how are we going to get him actually outside the room and out the place where Remus is.â âI donât know but Iâll figure something out.âÂ
Sirius walked out the bathroom ten minutes later, throat dry and eyes red. He sat back in the chair he had barely left the past five days and grabbed Remus hand âHey Rem, itâs me again, I know you canât respond but I just wanted to talk to you. I havenât left your side for five days, I miss you, I really fucking miss you.â Sirius felt the slightest squeeze of his hand, he thought if he kept going it might get stronger. âRem everybody misses you so much, please come back to us.â he felt the squeeze again but this time it was stronger. âRemus please I donât know what I would do if you didnât come back.â this time the squeeze came with a croak from the pale body next to him.Â
âWat- Watâ croaked Remus âOh you want water.â Sirius grabbed the water sat next to him that Lily had brought him earlier. Remus practically drank the whole bottle, this didnât surprise Sirius as being a medical student he had read that people in comas usually wake up extremely dehydrated because of lack of water. âHi.â Remus spoke to the boy next to him who wanted to give the brunet a hug but didnât want to hurt him. âHi.â Sirius said back unsure of what to say to someone who had just been in a coma for five days. âGive me a hug dumbass.â Remus said. This surprised Sirius but he didnât argue and flung himself into the manâs arms. âMissed you idiot.â came Siriusâ muffled voice from Remusâ shoulder. âMissed you too dickhead.â Remus replied, voice just as muffled from the otherâs shoulder. âI heard all your conversations with me by the way. I never knew you liked my smell?â Remus teased still hugging Sirius. âShut up leave me alone I was grieving.â Sirius pouted. This made Remus laugh which then made Sirius laugh so James and Lily walked into the room to find Sirius and Remus laughing like mad men.
âHoly shit Moony! Youâre awake!â Came the cry of James Potter who ran over to the bed to join the hug. âYeah Prongs Iâm awake!â Remus said tears threatening to spill. âGood. Now I can kill you for scaring the shit out of me. You bastard why would you do that to me.â James said punching his best friend in the arm hard but not hard enough to do any real damage. âIâm sorry Prongs, I really am.â Remus apologised pulling James into a proper bear hug. âItâs ok mate just glad youâre alright now.â James replied trying not to cry.Â
James didnât admit it, but Remus being in a coma had really affected him. They had been like brothers since they were little when Remusâ family had moved from Carmarthenshire to Harrogate. James broke down just at the thought of Remus not being in his life. On the very rare occasion that Sirius had slept the last five days, James would sit and talk to Remus himself. He would tell him about Marlene and Dorcas coming to visit, telling him how much they missed him and how they had just got engaged. He had told him about management still wanting them to go on tour in September instead of postponing it. James leg would be healed but Remus might not have been awake yet. He also spoke to him about Lily telling him how wonderful she was and how good things were going. He told him about the cool fidget cube Lily had bought him to help his ADHD. The most important things he told him were about how his dad was sick and how he was really worried about him and he would explain more when he knew Remus could definitely hear him.
âRed! Get over here and join the hug!â Remus said to Lily. âOh Iâd rather not I just donât want to crush anyone with you know being âbigâ and all. I can give you a hug when youâre stood up though!â Lily said sheepishly not wanting Remus to think she didnât want to hug him because she didnât like him. âOh, ok no worries!â Remus replied feeling sad that his friend felt that way.
âOh Remus youâre awake, I was just coming to do your OPS!â said Remusâ nurse, Poppy Pomfrey, walking into the room. âYeah Iâm awake!â Remus said enthusiastically. âWell Iâll check this then Iâll talk to you ok?â âOK.âÂ
After Dr Pomfrey had checked his monitorâs she spoke to Remus. âHi Remus. We havenât officially met but Iâm Dr Pomfrey or Poppy, whatever youâd like to call me, you have been in a coma for five days since being in a car accident. You faced quite a lot of trauma in your head as thatâs where your body took the most impact. We believe this is what caused your body to go into a coma. Your blood levels and heart rate have been relatively normal while youâve been out, so we arenât majorly concerned. We would like to keep you in for a few days just in case you go back in, which we are pretty confident you wonât but safety precautions. So after weâve monitored you for a few days you should be good to leave. Call me if you need anything.â Poppy explained while changing his wires. âOk thanks Dr Pomfrey and donât worry I will.âÂ

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Ten:
Lily walked down the empty hallway of the hospital. The moon still high in the sky, daylight not coming anytime soon. She walked into room 215. She was a floor down from Sirius as Jamesâ accident hadnât been as severe.Â
âLily?â came a croaky Northern accent from the corner of the room. âJames. Oh my god, youâre ok.â Lily exclaimed rushing over to the side of his bed. âYeah nothing major. Is Remus ok, oh my god, I have to get to him.â James shrugged his own injuries off wanting to know if Remus was ok. âHey, James, Sirius is with Remus as we speak, heâs gonna be fine.â Lily soothed rubbing circles in his palm. âOh right, ok. Wait, how are you here? Shouldnât you be in London?â James asked confused as heâd left Lily in London when he left. âLong story short, Sirius barged into my apartment at 2:00am saying you and Remus had been in a car accident having a panic attack. So I just drove four hours to get here.â Lily explained hand still holding the tanned boyâs who she realised looked the youngest sheâd ever seen him. His face looked younger but had cuts on the side. His body was shrunken in the bed where he lay a cast on his, what she assumed, broken left leg.
âHello Mrs Potter. We got told you had arrived.â A doctor walked in to the room greeting Lily. James gave her a look that said âMrs Potter?â  âYes thatâs me!â Lily replied enthusiastically. âGreat. So Mr Potter has received a broken left leg and a minor concussion. We want to keep him in for a few days or until he gets over his concussion. His leg isnât majorly broken so he should be out of his cast in about four weeks. He should be fine with things around the house with you there to help him. He canât get the cast wet and there isnât anything else weâre majorly worried about. You got lucky Mr Potter, luckier than your friend.â The doctor explained then left.
âWhat was he talking about when he called you Mrs Potter? Like I know I have a concussion but I donât remember us ever getting married in the last twenty four hours?â James turned to Lily after the door had shut. âMe and Sirius had to tell reception that we were both married to you two to get in.â Lily explained to him. âI mean Mrs Potter doesnât sound too bad. It suits you.â James smirked teasingly. âYeah I like it. Has a nice ring to it.â Lily teased back.
****
âHey Remus.â Sirius spoke holding the other boyâs hand. âI know you canât respond to me, but the doctor said that talking to you would probably help to get you awake quicker. I made Lily drive four hours to get to you and I know she wanted to see James because theyâre a thing now if you didnât know, I mean I assume James told you on the train or before...this happened. I hope youâre ok in there Rem, I hope you arenât too bored. I thought Iâd let you know, you left your sweater at my house. You know, the one you let me wear on our first âdateâ or whatever it was. You were wearing it when we watched Mamma Mia but you threw it off when you got too hot.â Sirius was speaking through tears now his breathing still steady. âIt still smells like you. Your sweet honey smell that matches your eyes, it helped calm me down before along with Lily rubbing circles into my palm. I donât deserve Lily. Truly. She is the sweetest person ever I mean I wouldnât be sitting here if it wasnât for her. I miss you Rem. I miss your cheeky laugh and your mesmerising smile. I. Just. Miss. You.â Sirius broke down crying until he cried himself to sleep.
****
âSirius?â Lily whispered walking into room 319. She had come up to check on him, she originally didnât want to leave James but he insisted she went. In the corner of the room she saw Remus lying on the bed wires all over his long, slender body. Her heart dropped for her best friend. Speaking of, Lily saw he had pulled up one of the chairs and had curled up on it, much like a dog, and was fast asleep clutching the pale boys hand in his own. She stayed there for a few moments letting a few stray tears fall down her cheek at the sight of her best friend who looked like he was holding onto Remusâ life not letting it fall because if he went. Lily knew Sirius would go with him. Before she broke down completely, she walked out the room and shut the door.Â
As Lily walked into his room, James noticed the tear tracks on her cheeks. Not saying anything, he shuffled over and opened his arms for the girl. Not wasting a minute, Lily climbed onto the bed and cuddled into Jamesâ side letting herself finally break. Her love was safe and as well as he could be, but Siriusâ wasnât. James held Lily close letting her cry, kissing her forehead and whispering reassurances in her ear.Â
****
two days later...
âSirius, do you want me to get you something to eat?â Lily asked her friend. âYeah, not a lot though. Just something small.â It had been two days and there had been no improvement on Remusâ condition. There had been no decrease either. He was still the same. Sirius had refused to leave his side for the two days only going if he needed to toilet. He wouldnât sleep, would barely eat and at this rate Lily was getting worried.Â
âOk love, if you want to have a quick nap James said he would come and sit in here with Remus while you slept.â âMhm fine.â Sirius answered eyes glued on Remusâ transparent skin. Siriusâ eyes were drooping and his eyebags were the worst Lily had ever seen them. âJames can you go sit in there because it looks like Sirius is gonna drop off any moment.â Lily asked her boyfriend who she was also going to get food for. âYeah sure Lils, is he alright? He donât look it.â James spoke worried for the boyâs general health. âYeah heâll be ok. Heâs just worried, not that we all arenât but I know he doesnât like being in hospitals anyway brings back bad memories.â Lily explained giving James a kiss before setting off to get some food for the three of them.

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Nine:
Sirius couldnât believe it. Remus had been in a car accident, his Remus. He shoved his shoes on and drove over to Lilyâs flat.Â
âLILY! LILY! LILY WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU!â Sirius yelled through tears his breath quickening with every yell. âSirius? What are you doing here why are you crying?â Lily asked her friend concerned coming into the front room in her pyjamas. âRemus and....James. In. Car. Accident.â Sirius said barely able to talk. âOh my god. Sirius get in the car. Iâll drive you arenât in a fit state to drive love.â Lily spoke calmly wanting to break down herself but needing to be strong for both of them. Lily put her shoes on, not bothering to change out of her pyjamas, and got in Siriusâ car ready to drive to Manchester.
The drive was four hours. By the time they would get there it would be 6:00am. Lily stopped quickly for coffee to keep her awake and to get Sirius a hot chocolate to calm him down. When she wasnât holding her drink, she was holding onto her friendâs hand rubbing circles into his palm. She was used to Sirius having panic attacks as he had suffered from anxiety and depression for most of his life. They were especially worse after the incident with his dad. So Lily had picked up the habit of whenever she was with someone having a panic attack she would rub circles into their palms to help calm them. She hadnât tried it on anyone else but with Sirius she sometimes tried to crack his thumb to relieve some tension.
After about an hour of breathing exercises and drinking his hot chocolate, Sirius fell asleep. Lily finally allowed herself to cry. She didnât want to cry in front of him because she didnât want to make him panic more, but now he was asleep she could. James had been in an accident, he could be dead for all she knew but she kept driving. She had to, she had to know if James was ok.
The sky was pitch black and all Lily could see through her tears was the reflecting of the red lights in front of her. The motorway was practically empty except for the stray car coming from the airport. Sirius was still sleeping, she could see the dried up tears from when heâd come storming into her apartment two hours earlier. She stopped at a service station to get herself another coffee and Sirius another hot chocolate just in case.Â
The sleeping boy woke up about an hour later, his hot chocolate still warm from the heating in the car as being March it was still quite cold especially at 5:00am. âYou alright love?â came the redheadâs soothing voice next to him. âHm, are we nearly there?â Sirius spoke throat dry from all the crying he did before he fell asleep. âWe have about another hour. Thereâs a hot chocolate there if you want it.â Lily told Sirius. She would never admit it, but he knew sheâd been crying. From the stuffy nose to the dried tear tracks visible on her face. âThanks.â he told his friend grateful for putting up with him and all his problems. He leaned over the console to rest his head against her shoulder like they were kids again. âAnd not just for the hot chocolate, but for putting up with me all these years and all my crazy mental problems.â he added voice muffled against her pyjama sleeve. âHey, thatâs what best friends are for right, and you Mr Black are the best friend of them all.â Lily told her best friend tilting her head so it was against hers.
****
They arrived at Manchester Royal hospital an hour later. Lily had barely parked the car before Sirius was out and running inside. Lily turned off the engine and followed him in.Â
âExcuse me! Where is Remus Lupin and James Potter!â Sirius asked the reception lady frantically. âIâm really sorry but I can only give that information out to immediate family members. Who are you?â replied the women at the computer. âIâm his boyfriend! I need to see him is he alive?!â Sirius demanded. âWoah Sir please calm down or Iâll have to ask you to leave. Now Iâm sorry but I cannot give you that information as I said immediate family only.â The desk women replied going back to her computer. âIâm sorry to pester you but my friend here gets his words messed up when heâs worried. What he meant to say was that he is Remusâ husband and I am James Potterâs wife, Lily Potter.â Lily held up both their left hands where she had managed to slip one of Siriusâ many rings onto his ring finger while she was explaining and having swapped one of hers before coming over. âOh Iâm terribly sorry Mrs Potter I shall give you the information now.âÂ
The woman on the front desk had given them both the room numbers to which their âhusbandsâ were in. âLily. How did you think of that so fast?â Sirius asked his friend in awe of her quick thinking. âOh Iâve used that more than once.â Lily told her friend casually. âLily Potter! You sneaky bastard.â
Sirius hated hospitals. The smell of antibacterial, the eeriness of the halls at night, the occasional screaming baby and all the injured people you saw. The thing he hated most about them, was they reminded him of his dad. After a beating so hard it landed him in hospital he had tried his best to steer clear of them, but he needed to be strong for Remus.Â
He walked into room 319 and shut the door. Remus was lying on the bed, stone still, with all sorts of wires attached. It took all of Sirius to not breakdown again. âHeâs aliveâ thought Sirius letting out a breath he hadnât realised heâd been holding after looking at the heart monitor. Before Sirius could sit down, a doctor walked into the room. âAh, you must be Mr Lupinâs husband. Mr Lupin I assume? âItâs actually Mr Lupin-Black. If you donât mind?â Sirius told the doctor. âSo Mr Lupin-Black here has faced a serious hit to the head and is facing serious head trauma. He is currently in a coma. We believe his body placed itself in a coma to protect itself. We donât know how long heâll be in it or when heâll come out, but know weâre doing as much as we can to stop the trauma spreading.â the doctor explained to Sirius who was just focused on the fact that he was alive more than anything else.

The Boy in The Band
Chapter eight:
Remus woke up the next morning with a twinge in his neck. He looked down at the boy resting his head on his shoulder with a smile. Feeling like someone was watching him, Sirius stirred, blinking, adjusting his eyes to the light coming in from the window.
âMorning Sirius.â spoke Remus softly as to not startle the younger boy. âMorning Rem.â Sirius replied his head still against the taller manâs shoulder. The two boys stayed like that for a few moments basking in the morning sun and each otherâs presence. It wasnât an awkward silence, it was the type of silence when you can just sit and appreciate someoneâs company knowing the other feels the same. âHow long did we sleep for?â Sirius asked breaking the silence. âIâm not sure- Oh shit!â Remus suddenly jumped up, Sirius losing the comfort of his warm body, and started putting his shoes on. âFuck, I have a train to catch I forgot weâre going back to Manchester today.â Remus told Sirius making sure he hadnât forgotten anything. âWait what time is your train, I can drive you if you want instead of you calling a taxi?â âYeah thatâd be great thanks!â Sirius got up to put his own shoes on and grab his car keys. Remus phone started ringing, âRemus, mate, where the bloody hell are you, our train leaves in ten minutes?!â Came the frustrated voice of James Potter, and was that? Lily? who Sirius could hear telling James to calm down? Heâll ask when he knows Remus is actually on time for his train. âIâm coming mate I fell asleep at Siriusâ heâs about to drive me now.â Sirius heard James say hurry up and an I love you and then the call ended.
The two boys ran down the stairs and out the front door of the flat block, Sirius got into the driverâs seat and Remus in the passenger. âWhich station is it?â asked Sirius to make sure he went to the right one. âWaterloo East.â answered Remus frantically. âWait I donât have my bags, fuck.â Remus realised and rang Pete, his manager, to see if heâd grabbed them. âPeter, please tell me you have my bags from the hotel!â Remus asked his manager. âYes Remus I have them donât worry just get here. âI will Pete, donât worry.â Remus told his manager turning his phone off.Â
The two lads arrived at the train station with five minutes to spare, luckily Sirius lived so close. Remus quickly got his ticket checked and went through to the platform and saw James, Lily and Peter waiting for him. âRemus mate weâve got to get on now!â Shouted Jamesâ Northern accent. âIâm coming!â Remus shouted back.Â
The Welsh lad got to the platform and grabbed his bags before turning back to Sirius. âBye Rem. See you in a bit, message me when youâre home safe right.â Sirius told Remus hugging him. âCourse, bye love.â Remus said kissing Sirius on the cheek before heading onto the train. Sirius was shocked but was even more when he saw James kiss Lily goodbye. When had that happened, he was happy for his friend but he needed all the details. After they had waved the train off, Lily and Sirius got into his car and drove back to Siriusâ flat.Â
âSo, when did you and Mr Potter get together Miss Evans and why didnât I know about it?â Sirius asked his friend once they had gotten inside. âIt literally happened yesterday and I could ask the same thing about you and Mr Lupin, Mr Black?â Lily quipped back. âWell it happened last night, we were watching Mamma Mia, after we had made pancakes, and I kept looking over at him because he looked all cute and smiley. Then he asked why I was looking at him and I accidently said, because youâre cute when watching Mamma Mia and then he kissed me.â Sirius explained to Lily what happened. Lily squealed. âNow, your turn Mrs Potter!â Sirius said grabbing popcorn.  âWell I assume you know about the premiere, after that he offered to take me back to his hotel to see his Disney film collection and you know Iâm a sucker for Disney. So he took me back to his and we ended up falling asleep on his bed, cuddling, and then I woke up the next morning with his arm around my waist. Then Remus knocked on the door which woke James up, I pretended to be asleep so he wouldnât find me weird for not moving...â Lily finished explaining what had happened to her best friend. âOh my god, Lily thatâs amazing Iâm so happy for you!â âIâm happy for you too!âÂ
****
âSo when did you and Sirius happen?â James asked Remus about half an hour into the train ride. âLast night, I kissed him. What about you and Red?â Remus said nonchalantly. âHappy for you mate. Me and Lily happened yesterday, she kissed me.â James replied just as nonchalantly.
****
âWait, how come youâll watch Mamma Mia with Remus but not with me?â Lily asked her best friend betrayed. âBecause Iâm in love with Remus you idiot, I would do anything for him.â âYeah, yeah. Lovesick idiot.â Lily muttered.
After a few hours had passed and Lily had left, Sirius still hadnât received a text or call from Remus saying he had got home. âHis phone has probably just died.â Sirius thought to himself not wanting to freak out over something that could be nothing. He turned on the TV and his stomach dropped.
âLead singer and bassist of the famous band Drowners in a car accident. The band memberâs car was seen coming out of Altrincham train station after being in London. There has been no news on Lupin or Potterâs condition yet but weâll keep you updated.â

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Seven:Â
Lily woke up confused as to where she was. She remembered going back to Jamesâ but doesnât remember leaving, then she notices the arm around her waist. She canât believe it. Sheâs in James Potterâs bed, well his hotel room bed, and he has his arm wrapped around her. She revelled in it for a few moments until she heard a knock and felt him waking up, she didnât want him to think she was weird for not moving after waking up so Lily pretended to be asleep thinking nothing of it.
âCome in.â she heard Jamesâ gravelly morning voice call. âOi mate Iâm just going to the shop-â Remus stopped half way seeing the redhead in his best friends bed still in her green dress which had shifted in her sleep revealing her long legs. âMate are you aware that Lily, the girl youâre in love with, is in your bed? Why arenât you freaking out right now?â Lily tried not to jump out of the bed at his words. James was in love...with her. She almost stopped breathing. âYes, Remus, I am aware of the fact the girl who I am in love with who isnât interested in being more than friends with me is in my bed. Iâm not an idiot.â James rambled on to his friend in just above a whisper so he didnât wake Lily up, except she had heard the whole thing and was freaking out. âJust making sure you knew, and yeah sure you arenât if you canât see the way she looks at you. Now you may not be an idiot Potter but youâre oblivious.â At this point Lily couldnât handle it anymore and woke up for the second time that morning stretching as if she hadnât already a few minutes ago. âMorning Red.â winked Remus before walking out and heading to the shop. âMorning Lil.â spoke James quickly removing his arm from her waist so she didnât freak out. âMorning James.â she said back trying not to be awkward about the fact she just found out James Potter was in love with her.
âDo you want something to eat? I mean we havenât got a lot considering weâre in a hotel but we could go out and get something or order something in?â James went on wanting Lily to feel comfortable. âWe could order something in and watch a Disney film?â âYou know the way to my heart Lily Evans. Do you want to get changed I can give you some of my clothes if you want?â smiled James. âUm, do you mind if we go back to mine so I can grab some stuff or I can just stay in this I donât mind.â Lily spoke knowing that Jamesâ clothes wouldnât fit her and she would probably rip them. âYeah I donât mind we can go to yours and then pick up some food.â âSounds great.â
After getting changed himself into grey joggers and an old band t-shirt, James drove back to Lilyâs flat. âI need a quick shower so if you just want to go into the lounge or whatever you want.â Lily told James before going into the bathroom. James walked round her flat looking for the living room, he walked over to the door after the bathroom, turned the door knob and walked inside. He had found Lilyâs bedroom. It had three white walls and one that was sage green, it reminded him of his and Remusâ lounge back at their flat, she had a floral bed cover and her bed was covered in teddys. James noticed that the only pictures she had around her room were of her and Sirius none with any family members. He walked over to her bedside table to look at the pictures on there, this time the picture didnât have Sirius in it but it was him. It was the picture he and Lily took the day they first met when they had talked for pretty much the entirety of her time there.Â
âJames are you in-â Lily stopped as she came through the door in nothing but a towel. James covered his eyes. âYou donât have to cover you eyes, I have a towel on.â laughed Lily. âI didnât want to make you feel uncomfortable thatâs all. But I mean even in just a towel you look amazing. Do you wanna get dressed then we can go get break-â James was cut off by Lilyâs lips on his. She was kissing him and he kissed back, grabbing onto the back of her neck. They never got breakfast.
****
@Remus.Lupin: Hey do you wanna meet up today I can pick you up?
@Siriuslygay: Iâm really sorry but I have Uni work to do this morning maybe this afternoon? x
@Remus.Lupin: Yeah thatâs ok, we can go for lunch or something if you want x
@Siriuslygay: Do you want to come to mine? We can make some food and just watch a film or something? x
@Remus.Lupin: Yeah we can do that, do you want me to come round about 1 ish? x
@Siriuslygay: Yeah thatâs good should be done by then. See ya x
@ Remus Lupin: See ya x
****
Remus arrived at Siriusâ flat and messaged the boy to let him know he was there. A moment later, Sirius came out the entrance and told Rem to come up. Sirius lived on the fifth floor of his flat block so they took the lift up. âWelcome to my humble abode.â announced the shorter boy opening his front door to let them in. âItâs nice I like it. Now I wanna see the famous room that won my competition.â smirked Remus. âOh god, itâs this way.â spoke an embarrassed Sirius. Remus opened the door and burst into laughter. âHoly fuck, you are obsessed with me.â laughed Remus âOh take a picture, take a picture!â Remus told Sirius standing next to the cardboard cut out of himself trying not to pee himself from laughing.Â
After Remus had finished teasing Sirius about his room. They both decided it would be a good idea to make some food as they were both hungry. âDo you want to make pancakes? I have all the ingredients.â asked Sirius really feeling like something sweet. âYeah Iâm down for that.â The two boys set about making pancakes. âSirius I canât believe you burnt the first one!â said Remus laughing at how bad Siriusâ pancake making skills are. âLeave me alone we canât all be master pancake makers.â sulked Sirius not understanding how Remus could be good at everything.Â
When the two had made a stack of pancakes they could share without setting the kitchen on fire they went into the lounge, sat on the sofa, and put Mamma Mia on. âI canât believe your favourite film is Mamma Mia.â spoke Sirius teasingly. âI canât believe yours isnât! Itâs like the greatest film of all time!â answered Remus. Throughout the whole film, Sirius kept looking over at Remus. âWhy do you keep looking at me like that?â Remus asked confused. âLike what?â âAll smiley.â âBecause youâre cute when youâre watching Mamma Mia.â Remus couldnât take anymore, he leaned over the sofa, grabbed Siriusâ face and kissed him. It took a few seconds, but Sirius kissed back revelling in the sensation that was Remusâ lips on his own. âWow.â spoke the brunet forehead resting on the other boyâs. âWow indeed.â The boys spent the rest of the film cuddling and occasionally kissing some more until they both fell asleep messy haired and pink cheeked.

The Boy in The Band
Chapter Six: T.W eating disorder.
10 days later...
The day James had been ambushed by Paps, he had given Lily his phone number so they could update each other on the Sirius-Remus situation. They hadnât texted each other about that at all, their messages consisted of James telling Lily horrendous jokes and Lily just making fun of them. Their messages were also a lot of flirty banter. Sirius kept telling Lily that James liked her but she never believed him. She would say things like: âSirius, James would never like me. I mean look at me, heâs a famous bassist and has plenty of skinnier, prettier girls and boys lining up for him.â and âIâve told you before Sirius, he never has and never will like me.â It broke Siriusâ heart to hear her talk about herself like that because he knew how beautiful she was but she just couldnât see it.Â
@Lily.flower: Hey, Iâm going out with James today so I probably wonât message you back so donât get worried when I donât x
@Siriuslygay: OK have fun, but not too much fun ;) x
@Lily.flower: Sirius stop it.Â
@Siriuslygay: What! Iâm just saying
@Lily.flower: Well donât say it. Bye.
****
Lily stood outside her Uni flat, wearing a long forest green silk dress. The top of the dress was low cut with jewels all over and silver heels. Her red hair was curled and hanging down over her shoulder. James had told her to dress fancy as they were going somewhere formal. Lily had in her hand a present bag filled with what she knew was all Jamesâ favourite sweets.Â
As he pulled up in his car, the redhead heard James wolf-whistle. âArenât you looking lovely on this fine day Ms. Evans.â said James charmingly in a suit with coincidently a forest green tie. âYou look dashing yourself Mr. Potter.â Lily quipped back. Lily opened the door to the roof-down TT and climbed in as gracefully as she could being 5â˛10 and in a floor length dress and heels. âHappy Birthday!â she spoke handing over his present. âOh you didnât have to get me anything.â James smiled his sparkly white teeth standing out against his tanned skin. âIt was no trouble and thatâs what friends are for.â spoke Lily. âFriends. Ha.â thought James secretly wanting them to be more than friends but not wanting to ruin their friendship. âYeah. Anyway are you ready for where weâre going!â âYeah Iâm so excited to find out.â The girl next to him spoke. James set off driving to where they were going talking to Lily about anything and everything until they got there.
When they pulled up to where they were going, Lilyâs jaw dropped. âJames, you son of a bitch, you brought me to a premiere! How?â asked Lily shocked. âWell a little birdy told me that you loved Disney films and I got invited to the Cruella premiere, that just happened to be on my birthday, and was told I could bring someone and well when you asked if I wanted to do something for my birthday, I thought it was perfect.â explained James grinning at Lilyâs ear-to-ear smile. âJames Potter I love you so much.â this made him smile even more.
The two got out the car and were directed to the red carpet where they would walk down together along with all the other celebrities there. When they got to it, James took Lilyâs arm in his own so she wouldnât fall in her ridiculously high heels or trip over her dress. âOver here Mr Potter!â shouted a person with a camera and a shout of âWho have you brought with you tonight?!â from another camera covered person. James and Lily posed for some photos not caring to answer any of the shouts except the nice reasonable ones and kept walking.Â
Lily felt like she was going to faint. She had just walked down a red carpet with a load of celebrities who she had admired since she was little. She had always wanted to be an actress, but growing up in a working class family her family hadnât been able to afford acting classes or drama classes. Despite this she had taken GCSE Drama and had gotten an A* but her family wouldnât allow her to take it for A-Levels because they believed that creative careers werenât real jobs and if she wanted to have a nice life she needed to do something that would earn her money. So she had taken Law and Politics. She hated it, but she kept going with it because her parentâs words haunted her. âYouâre already fat. You donât want to be fat and unsuccessful.â So when she came to Uni she threw herself into all her work not stopping for breaks like to eat or sleep. She burnt herself out until she passed out one day when she was out with Sirius. Lily ended up in an eating disorder clinic for a year recovering. After her stay in the clinic, Lily switched her Uni course to Acting and Musical Theatre. She also cut ties with both her parents and her sister.Â
****
âSo did you enjoy the film?â James asked Lily after they had gotten back to the car. âYes! It was amazing, I loved it so much Emma Stone was amazing in it!â Lily answered enthusiastically in awe of how good the film was. âWell Iâm glad you enjoyed it. I have to say that is probably my new favourite film.â âI didnât know you liked Disney films?â Lily asked James. âLike them? I love them! Theyâre some of the best films ever made! Also I have ADHD and I just like hyper fixate on them. I have a whole collection. I can take you back to mine to show you if you want?â James told Lily hoping to spend more time with her. âI would love that as long as it isnât too much trouble.â âI woulnât âave asked if it was would Iâ James and Lily both laughed.
****
They got to James and Remusâ shared flat and before she could get out, James ran round and opened her door for her âMâlady.â James joked linking their arms to help her get up to their flat without falling. They got into the lift and went up to the top floor. James and Lily walked into the lounge and saw Remus on the sofa âRemus for fuckâs sake once again, why are you always eating oranges?!â Lily snorted at this. âWell hello to you to mate. Enjoy the premiere? Hey Lily.â spoke the Welsh lad from the sofa. âYeah it was great James just offered to show me his Disney film collection.â Lily told Remus. âThat sounded oddly sexual but Iâll leave you to it.â
The two ended up falling asleep, still in their premier clothes, cuddling in Jamesâ bed.

The Boy in The Band
Chapter five:
It had been a week since Sirius had met Remus and Sirius was freaking out. He was going out for coffee with the man in a few hours and he had no clue what to wear. Remus had sprung it on him last minute as Sirius was leaving Manchester tomorrow and Remus thought it would be nice for them to meet up before he went back to London.Â
âLily! I have nothing to wear!â shouted Sirius in the bedroom about to break down. âSirius calm down weâll just go to the Trafford centre again or do you want to look at the Arndale?â Lily spoke coming into the room. âCan we try the Arndale because we went to Trafford already?â âCourse love.â Lily replied softly knowing her friend wanted this, whatever it was, to go perfectly.
The two friends arrived at the Arndale centre and walked through the big, glass entrance. Sirius noticed the Arndale was very similar layout to Trafford but was a lot more modern and didnât have the same flare as Trafford, but he still went and looked round because he wouldâve gone anywhere at this point. After fifteen minutes if looking, they went into âZaraâ and Lily found him a button up shirt that had sunflowers on it which he also found some baggy jeans to wear with it. He said to Lily that he would wear his red converse with it. While Sirius paid for his shirt and jeans, Lily called a taxi to pick them up so they wouldnât have to stand outside for ages as it was quite cold.Â
When they got outside they noticed a massive crowd forming, as their taxi wouldnât be here for another five minutes they went to see what all the commotion was about. Turns out James Potter had tried to come shopping for something and someone had tipped him off to the Paparazzi. âJames! Come here!â Shouted Lily seeing their taxi pull up. James, recognising Lilyâs voice, ran over to the pair and they all got into the taxi, Sirius in the front James and Lily in the back, and drove off. âOi, thanks for saving me back there. I âate it when people tip me off like leâ me go shopping like a normal person.â started James breathing quite heavily after the shock had warn off. âI know itâs been a few years but the feelings still the same. Donât help me being bloody claustrophobic either.â James finished feeling his breathing calm down. Maybe it had calmed down because he had got out the small space or maybe it was the much smaller hand of the girl next to him that was rubbing circles into his own.
The three arrived back to Sirius and Lilyâs hotel, Sirius went into the bathroom and James sat on Lilyâs bed and messaged someone from his phone then put it back into his pocket. âNice hotel room, comfy bed, nice bathroom. The one thing I donât get it why is there two double beds? I thought you two would have shared being a couple anâ all.â questioned James. âWait. You seriously thought me and him were together?â James nodded âOh my god you dumb fucker. Sirius is gay. Have you not seen the way he looks at Remus-â Lily slapped her hand over her mouth but it was too late she had just told Remus Lupinâs best friend that her best friend has a crush on his best friend. James burst out laughing. âOh my god I was joking about you two being a couple and I knew he had a crush on Remus donât worry about it. I mean it works out because Remus likes Sirius too-â this time it was Jamesâ turn to slap his hand across his face. âWait Remus like Sirius too? This is great news! We can set them up I mean theyâre already going on a âdateâ today so this could be good.â Lily spoke like a child in a sweet shop. âYes! Thatâs perfect! Plan get Remus and Sirius together is a go!âÂ
****
Remus has suggested they met at one a Costa outside of the main part of Manchester so itâs less likely they would get harassed by Paps. Sirius, as usual, just agreed with Remus as he didnât want to make a fuss and had been fancying a Costa for a while now so he really didnât mind.
When he got there he saw Remus sat at a table on his phone waiting for him. He heard the door open and Remusâ eyes looked up and met Siriusâ. His face lit up, he was wearing black skinny jeans with a knitted, grandad style sweater. Sirius thought he looked adorable, hot too but more adorable. The Black haired boy walked over to the table and the lanky boy stood up to meet him in a hug. âI already ordered for us I got you an iced mocha with oat milk.â âHow did remember my order I told you it like three weeks ago?â asked Sirius shocked Remus had remembered such a minor detail about him. âI remember the little things about people I like.â Sirius almost fainted.
After about an hour, they had gotten out of the awkward stage, and they had really gelled into themselves. âI have a Sirius question I need to ask you.â asked Sirius, Remus snorted. âDo you like frogs?â âWhy wouldnât I like frogs? Theyâre amazing.â âNO! Frogs are the scum of the earth, the bastards of the barrel you could say. Sorry book reference you probably donât get it.â âI get it donât worry. Six of Crows, favourite book of all time.â âNo way me too! But now, back to seriousness. I hate frogs because my brother Reggie had two growing up and I was trying to feed them but it bit my finger and just fucking hung there for ages and I freaked out and accidently smacked it into the water.â âDonât hurt the froggys!â âGood to know youâre worried about the frogs now I know where your priorities lie.â âIâm gay frogs are life.â âNo frogs are bastards. It was attached to my finger.â Sirius deadpanned. âIt just wanted to be friends.â âNo. It wanted to eat me.â âThatâs just how frogs say hello.â âNo this is the end of this conversation.â Sirius spoke then shivered. âAre you cold, you are in just a shirt?â Remus asked the boy across from him. âA bit yeah, itâs not too bad.â answered Sirius rubbing his arms trying to get some warmth. âHere take this.â Remus said before taking off his sweater revealing a long sleeve white t-shirt. âThanks Rem.â said Sirius putting the sweater on and instantly feeling warmer. âNo worries.â Remus smiled. The two boys stood up and walked out the cafĂŠ.
****
âDrowners lead singer Remus Lupin spotted outside Manchester with competition winner Sirius Black, who looks to be wearing one of Lupinâs sweaters weâve seen him in previously.â

The Boy in The Band
Chapter four:
Today was the day. The day Sirius met Remus. The stars met the moon and Sirius met the love of his life. Now a lot of people say that their celebrity crushes are the loves of their life, but after messaging for 2 months Sirius could truly say he had fallen in love.
âLily, how do I look?â Sirius asked his best friend determined to look good enough for Remus. âSirius, like Iâve said the last five times, you look hot. Anyway Remus wonât care how you look, if the messages heâs sent you are anything to go by he likes you for you not the way you dress.â Lily told Sirius knowing how smitten he was was with Welsh lad. Sirius had tried on about a million outfits even though they had gone shopping yesterday and heâd picked something. âI know but still I want to make sure I look perfect. Do you think heâll like the present I got him?â âSirius, shut up.â Lily had put on her green dress with a pair of black Mary Janeâs. Sirius had bought Remus a new guitar pick with the moon on one side, because he new the bandâs nickname for him was moony, and his initials R.L on the other. The pair got into a taxi and headed to the agreed meet place.
****
âMoony, Moony, Moony!â spoke James prancing into the room looking for his friend finding him eating an orange while scrolling on his phone. âRemus I swear to god, why are you always eating oranges!â James asked Remus not understanding why his friend ate so many god damn oranges. âI donât know Prongs just like them, I guess. Anyway are you ready to go mate?â âYeah, just waiting on the girls to get ready.â âRight, OI! MEAN LESBIAN, DORKY, HURRY UP AND GET DOWN HERE ELSE WEâRE GONNA BE LATE!â shouted Remus James barely understanding a word he had said due to his Welsh accent. Next thing the boys knew a grumpy, half ready Marlene and a fully ready, without shoes, Dorcas. As the pink haired girl walked past she punched Remus. âAnd you wonder why I call you mean lesbian.â the tall lad muttered to himself. Marlene punched him again.
The four band mates climbed into James Audi TT Roadster, Marlene trying to do her eyelashes threatening James âIf you go over another fucking bump Potter, I will kill you.â James went over the bumps on purpose. After getting Dorcas to do it for her, Marlene had her signature flawless eyeliner. Remus kept checking his phone for messages off Sirius. âMoony, mate, stop checking your phone. Heâs probably getting ready for after, probably freaking out about his outfit more than you were.â James told his friend who was shocked James knew whoâs messages he was refreshing. âWait! How did you know I was checking Siriusâ messages? And, I wasnât âfreaking outâ I was just being indecisive.â âI didnât you just told me. No but seriously Rem, youâve been checking your phone obsessively for the last 2 months I know what Sirius has done to you.â answered James knowing the effect this Sirius Black had had on his best friend. âWait what has Sirius done to Remus?â asked Dorcas from the backseat. âIâm not gonna say the word my dear friend Dorky but just know it starts with L.â âLeprosy?â âNo. Itâs a four letter word and ends with e.â âLice?â âNo. Love.â âOh that makes more sense.â The four arrived at the place and headed inside to set everything up.
****
Lily and Sirius arrived at Manchester Arena right on time which Sirius had been stressing about the whole journey there. âSee Sirius, we did get here on time.â Lily told her friend who was practically shaking from nerves. âSirius. Breathe, Remus is gonna love you. Youâre gonna be ok.â The redhead told her friend holding and squeezing his hand. âYou ready to go in?â Lily asked, Sirius nodded and they went in.
Sirius didnât know why Remus wanted to meet at Manchester Arena, but he didnât question Remus about it when he had told him. The arena had seats going around the whole room with towers of lighting equipment and a rectangular space in the middle where the stage should be there instead was Remusâ microphone stand, his guitar, Jamesâ bass and Marleneâs guitar as well as Dorcasâ famous drum set with the Drownersâ logo on the front and her pink, yellow and blue drumsticks sitting on the stool. Lily being a previous band student couldnât help herself and walked up the steps onto the stage and took hold of the drumsticks and started playing the beat from a song Sirius recognised. âWell, Dorky looks like weâve found a replacement for you.â Came a strong Northern accent that made both Lily and Sirius jump, causing the famous drumsticks to fly out of Lilyâs hand. Sirius made a quick movement for them so they didnât fall and break. More focused on catching the drumsticks than the objects around him, Sirius didnât see the figure standing six feet away from him causing him to trip and almost hit the floor before someone wrapped an arm around his waist so he didnât hurt himself the drumsticks landing right into his left hand. âWell, I didnât expect us to meet like this.â laughed the lead singer not seeing Siriusâ frozen expression. âSirius, you alright?â asked Remus. âYeah! Great! Never better! Sorry about that, I donât usually trip over people when I first meet them.â spoke Sirius snapping out of his dazed phase. âOh donât worry about it! Thanks for saving Dorcasâ drumsticks by the way.â âYeah thanks Sirius. I donât know what I would have done if theyâd broken. Iâm Dorcas by the way, although you probably know thatâ The next to speak was Dorcas whom Sirius gave the sticks back to. âHonestly, no worries I know how important they are to you and yeah I knew that. Oh Remus I got you this, happy birthday!â Sirius dug the pick out of his jacket pocket and handed it over. âOh this is sick mate thanks! Why the moon?â âWell, I know your band mates call you Moony so I thought it would be cool.â answered the black haired boy. âI love it thank you so much.âÂ
After brief introductions, the four band members told Sirius and Lily that they would spend the next four hours just talking and playing the odd song and signing stuff, if they wanted, so thatâs what they did. Sirius spoke to Remus basically the same as they did on Instagram except Sirius was a bit less chatty as he was nervous, which was pretty normal, since he was meeting the Remus Lupin.Â
After the four hours was over Lily and Sirius said goodbye to Marlene and Dorcas. Remus walked with Sirius and James walked with Lily outside to their taxi. âSo, Sirius, I was wondering. Would you like to meet up for something to eat or a coffee sometime?â Remus spoke shyly almost so quiet Sirius didnât hear. âOh, yeah that sounds great, I would love too!â answered Sirius cheerfully. âOk, thatâs great. I just want to like get to know you more and I feel like it would be better to do that in person than over text.â âOh yeah I completely agree.â âGreat Iâll text you, but not through Instagram.â âWait how will you text me I donât have your phone-â Sirius stopped talking as Remus wrapped him in a hug slipping a piece of paper into his jacket pocket where the pick had been a few hours before. Remus let go of him, said goodbye and walked back into the arena. Sirius swore he saw him wink.

The Boy in The Band.
Chapter three:
Sirius received the email that night. He opened it on his laptop and read everything he needed to. To say he was excited was an understatement, he called Lily to come round so they could fangirl over getting to meet the people theyâve been in love with since Year 10. âI canât believe you get to meet Remus on his birthday!â exclaimed Lily unbelievingly. âI canât believe I get to meet him at all! Itâs so crazy, like out of all the entries and mine was picked. Just, wow!â spoke Sirius still in a haze about everything. âIâm so excited I canât believe I get to come with you as well! I cannot wait to meet James!â âI bet you canât.â smirked Sirius. Lily threw a pillow at him.
In the next few weeks, Sirius kept finding himself checking his phone. He and Remus had been messaging some of the messages were about the meet, but most were just friendly conversations like they had been friends for ages and Remus wasnât an A-list celebrity in a rock band. Lilyâs birthday had passed at the end of January and Sirius had managed to get Lily a special message off James courtesy of Remus as he had told the older man all about how much Lily loved James.
âSirius Black, we are meeting the Drowners in two days! We need outfits!â Lily and Sirius had come up to Manchester from London for the meet and they both still needed outfits. âWhere should we go?â Sirius asked Lily who has family here so she knew more than he did. âI think the Trafford Centre would be our best bet and if we donât find anything there The Arndale is about nine miles away so we can get a taxi there.â said Lily checking directions between the two places on her phone. The pair set off from their hotel to the Trafford Centre.
âHoly Jesus.â gasped Sirius as they walked in to the centre. The centre was a two story building with a glass roof as if you were in a giant conservatory room and the walls were covered in renaissance art with giant, stone pillars holding the marvellous building upright. âItâs great right, this isnât even all of it. Thereâs a China Town, golf course, cinema and wait till you see the food court!â Lily announced excitedly. After Sirius had had time to take in all Lily had told him they set off looking for outfits. After about half an hour of looking, Sirius having found a band t-shirt and ripped jeans to go with his Docs and leather jacket, they had come into New Look and Lily immediately saw something she liked, it was a ditsy, pastel green wrap dress that tied at the side. Lily came out of the changing rooms in the dress, Sirius loved it. It hugged her curves in all the right places, it hung flatteringly on her round hips and made her breasts perk up, but not so they were extremely noticeable, Lily loved it too. âLily. You have to get that dress, if you donât I will, and we both know I would pull it off, but I have to say you look even more stunning than you normally do. So Lily bought the dress and they headed to to food court before going back to the hotel.

âRemus,Remus!â chanted James down the just picked up phone. âJames why are you calling me I thought you said you were going to Trafford?â came Remusâ thick Welsh accent down the line. âYeah Iâm âere, but I just saw the most gorgeous girl in my life! She had strawberry, red hair that was wavy and she was trying on a dress with, who I âope, was âer friend. It looked amazing on her and bloody âell Remus she was just bloody gorgeous.â ranted James frantically to his friend.  âWoah, woah. Calm down mate. If you liked her that much why didnât you just go up to her and ask for her number?â questioned Remus confused why his mate hadnât just gone up to the girl. He was 22 for heavenâs sake. âBecause, Remus, her friend was wearing a Drowners sweatshirt. How much bloody attention would I âave drawn to me self if Iâd gone over and heâd freaked out.â âThatâs true, but mate donât worry abouâ it if it were meant to be then youâll see her again.â Remus told his mate walking back to their lounge sofa, holding his phone to his ear with his shoulder while trying to peel an orange at the same time. âYouâre right. Iâll be back ina bit see ya mate.â âSee ya Jamieâ Remus hung up and turned on the TV. It turned on to the news, Remus almost dropped his orange at the headline. âDrowners competition winner Sirius Black spotted in Manchester today with someone who seems like a girlfriend. Sirius was seen, as in the picture, wearing the same brown Drowners sweatshirt he was wearing in the picture that won him the competition.â Remus took a second glance at the girl next to Sirius in the photo and he realised she looked exactly like the girl James had described to him on the phone mere moments ago. He had to admit James had good taste she was stunning, on the bigger side, but stunning nonetheless. It hit Remus like a brick. James had seen Sirius. It all matched up, the Drowners sweatshirt, the red haired girl James had been entranced with. He frantically reached around for his phone needing to check he had seen a brown sweatshirt. James picked up on the third ring, ââEllo? Remus, I spoke to you like two minutes ago-â âJames! The girl you told me about was her friend wearing a brown Drowners sweatshirt?â Remus interrupted needing answers. âYeah âe was. Why?â âYou just saw Sirius Black and that was Lily! You know, the one I got you to do the birthday message for because sheâs been in love with you since she was like 15!â Remus told the other lad his words getting faster and faster as he kept going. âNO WAY! IT WAS! HOLY SHIT! I WONDER IF HEâS BRINGING HER TO THE MEET TOMMOROW?â shouted James hoping he would be able to talk to her and get her number. âIâll message him!â âOk, thanks mate.â This time James hung up the phone. Remus opened Instagram and went to his messages. He clicked on Siriusâ account and typed a message;
@Remus.Lupin: Hey, I was wondering who are you bringing to the meet tomorrow, if youâre bringing anyone that is x
@Siriuslygay: Hey, Iâm just bringing my friend Lily. Sheâs hoping to talk to James if she can. Like Iâve said before she really loves him xÂ
@Remus.Lupin: Oh right ok x
@Siriuslygay: Whyâd you ask? x
@Remus.Lupin: Oh just wondering is all. See you tomorrow x
@Siriuslygay: Ok, see you tomorrow x

The Boy in The Band.
Chapter two:Â
Weeks had gone by since Sirius had entered the competition, and there still wasnât any sign that Remus Lupin had picked or even seen his picture. Until today. Sirius had gone out last night with a few of his friends from Uni and they had stayed out late drinking which obviously meant he was hungover this morning and had slept in late.
âBzz Bzzâ Siriusâ phone vibrated against the bedside table he had placed it on drunkenly when he had come in last night. He hit the snooze, or what he thought was the snooze button, and tried to fall back to sleep. âBzz Bzzâ. His phone went off again, he swore he hadnât set an alarm. He hadnât. It wasnât an alarm at all it was Lily, he had answered her call.
âCHECK YOUR PHONE!â shouted Lily down the phone which did not go over well with Siriusâ headache. âJesus Lily, Iâm hungover why are you telling me to check my phone?â asked Sirius confused at why his best friend was yelling at him to check his phone when she usually tells him to stay off it when he has a hangover. âJUST LOOK AND YOUâLL SEE WHY!â replied Lily getting impatient with all his questions. So he did, and god was he glad he did. There on his lock screen notifications was âMessage request from @Remus.Lupinâ. Sirius was about to die. His 5 year long celebrity crush wanted to message him. Him of all people. He immediately rang Lily back.
âHOLY FUCKING SHIT LILY THE REMUS LUPIN WANTS TO MESSAGE ME!â âIS THAT ALL YOU LOOKED AT OPEN THE MESSAGES YOU DUMB SHIT!â Sirius, once again, listened to his best friend and opened Instagram to see it was flooded with notifications. Most from people he didnât even know, but he was only focused on one notification. He opened the messages and pressed accept. He couldnât believe his eyes. âOH MY GOD LILY! I FUCKING WON! I WON!â yelled Sirius suddenly not feeling the effect from his hangover anymore, too overcome with the excitement that he gets to meet the Remus Lupin. The guy who had made him realise he was, in fact, a homosexual and the guy who had given him the confidence to do and be whatever and whoever the hell he wanted to. âI KNOW THATâS WHY I RANG YOU TO CHECK YOUR PHONE!â Lily yelled back just as excited as her best friend. âHey if you get to meet he bassist, which I assume you will, could you maybe give him my number If you could and just like tell him about me. Donât feel like you have to though I know youâd probably want to focus on your time with Remus.â asked Lily and Sirius knew she was rubbing the back of her neck with her hand like he knew she did when she was asking for something. âOh, did I forget to mention? I can bring a plus one and you know damn well Iâm bringing you so you can meet the love of your life, James Potter.â said the 20 year old smirking. Lily had been in love with the bassist, James Potter, as long as Sirius had been in love with Remus. She didnât follow the band as much as Sirius did but she still listened to their music sometimes to be honest she was more interested in James than the band as a whole. âShut up Mr Sirius Lupin.â Lily teased knowing her best friend used to scribble that in his notebook back in secondary school. After he had ended his call to Lily, Sirius looked back at the message Remus had sent him:
âYou might not have to sell your soul after all ;)â

âSo, I saw on your Instagram that youâd picked a winner for the comp.â James asked his friend and bandmate walking into the lounge of their shared flat. The two lads and their other two bandmates lived in a 4 bedroom flat in London. The lounge had three white walls and one that was dark green which was their feature wall. This was where they had all their records and awards they had won over the last 5 years as a band.  âYeah, I hope you donât mind me picking one without talking to you or the rest of the band. I just saw their picture and knew they were the winner.â responded the Welsh man sheepishly hoping his band mates werenât annoyed at him. âAhh. Donât worry about it mate! Marlene and Dorcas seem happy with who you picked, and the whole competition was really your idea so you should have got to pick the winner anyway. Sirius Black, wannit?â spoke the Northern lad with half a burger in his mouth. âYeah it was. I donât know his picture just stood out the most and I was just drawn to it I guess. You better have got me a-â âIn the kitchen. No pickles, no cheese.â âAhh. Jamie boy you know me too well.â smiled the lanky 22 year old getting up and walking over to the kitchen after clapping his friend on the back.
James and Remus, much like Sirius and Lily, had been good friends since they were kids becoming friends in primary school and just being really close since. They may have had the occasional hook up, but it was never awkward between the two if anything it brought them closer together and letâs be honest one is a raging bisexual and the other an extremely horny pansexual something was bound to happen on a drunken night. Their whole band has pretty much hooked up at least once. They were a mess, but Remus liked mess.Â
âHey James! We need to get Pete to email Sirius about like details of the meet up and shit like that.â Remus shouted through a mouth full of chips. âAlready messaged him. Did it like an âour ago.â shouted back James. âAhh. Always the organised is our James. I think weâd be dead if it werenât for you.â âWell, when you grow up with my mum you have to be organised.â âHey, donât diss my lady and saviour Effie Potter!â gasped Remus jokingly knowing how Effie is with organisation. âIâm not! You know more than anyone how much I love my mum.â Itâs true James Potter was a total mummyâs boy. The fans of the band knew this from how much he posted about her on his social media, his motherâs day posts always had fans crying behind their screens. âI was joking, you know how much I love your mam and how much she loves me.â Remus teased knowing it wound James up. âYeah, yeah my mum prefers you over me. Itâs the Welsh accent am telling ya.â âYou canât say anything! My mam loves you way more than she loves me!â laughed the Welsh lad. âMust be the charm!â James winked getting up and running through the colourful flat avoiding the faux fur rugs so he didnât slip on them, the 6â˛2 lanky man chasing after him trying to rugby tackle him. James enjoyed nights like this, nights when Remus really came to be himself. Not the Remus the media see but the cheeky, funny lad from Carmarthenshire James knew and loved.
