Hey love :) I have LOVED your Aemond pieces so far and couldn't help but also send you an idea - please feel free to do as you please with it. Let's say Aemond and Otto travel short before the official "war" begins, to a very powerful family (probably the most powerful and rich after the Targs) who are known to be fierce warriors and they *maybe* do a bit of magic here and there (the women especially) in order to gain their support. There Aemond meets reader who is very much like him (intelligent, withdrawn, a bit spooky, long bloodred hair but also has a huge heart for those she loves) and they get close to each other more so because Aemond finds her alluring, mysterious and completely from another world. Seeing this, the Targs think is a brilliant idea to get them betrothed in order to secure their alliance. Would love to read your take on how they are with each other when they meet and developing the connection they have in the early stages of their relationship. Sorry for the long message :( and I thank you sososo much for reading my request and even more if you choose to do it!!!! Lots of love :X:X
Hi, angel! Thank you so much 🫶🏼 I am in love with this request and will absolutely do it! It might take a while as I feel like this could potentially be a few parts long (if that’s what you would want) and want to do it well :)
Again, I’ll update this post with a link when it’s done 🕺🏻

Modern!Aemond Targaryen x Fem!Reader
Request: Love your writing smmm idk if u take requests but im craving a fic of aemond and reader sharing a smoke and its all touchy and cute
Words: 1.3K
Warnings: drug use, fluff, my obsession with The Smiths
A/n: Sorry it’s quite short but I loved the idea and wanted to write it up a$ap </3 Also, feel free to send in reqs! It may take me some time to get to them but I’ll try my best 🫶🏼
————————————————————————
The comfort of Aemond’s room was unmatched. More often than not, (Y/n) would find herself either nuzzled into an armchair that sat by the mini-library in the corner of his room, standing by the record player and perusing his seemingly endless collection of vinyls and selecting which one they would listen to, or lounging on his bed that was far too big for even the two of them - a cigarette or spliff being shared between them, usually courtesy of Aegon. At the moment, they were in the latter position, having already eased into the familiar warmth of each other's company and the plushness of Aemond’s bed, and halfway through both The Smiths’ ‘Hatful of Hollow’ and the spliff (Y/n) had flirted out of Aegon. Sure, Aemond had more than enough to buy their own, that much was evident from the size of his room alone, but only a fool would miss out on free supply with only a bat of their eyelashes and a little giggle.
“Aegon is such an idiot.” Laughed Aemond, taking a drag before passing it to the girl beside him.
“Hey,” she followed his actions, “I’m not complaining.”
He hummed and nodded in agreement, “Not a fan of the method in which you get them though.”
(Y/n) quirked her eyebrow in amusement, leaning on one elbow and facing Aemond who leaned lowly against the headboard, “And why’s that, hm?” She already knew he despised the idea of Aegon being his… provocative self around his girlfriend, but couldn’t help teasing him.
Aemond, however, caught on to her tone and rolled his eyes, “Shut up.” He took the spliff off of her and took a drag before blowing it in her face, making her giggle. He smiled at the sound and placed a kiss on her temple, pulling her closer to him, “I’ll buy them from now on.”
She said nothing but nodded in acknowledgement, the wave of contentment from both the smoking and Aemond’s presence beginning to warm her up. The girl gently traced her fingers over his chest, arms, and hands as they sat in a moment of silence, ‘This Night Has Opened My Eyes’ playing softly in the background. Listening as Aemond absentmindedly hummed along, she intertwined their legs and dotted a few lazy kisses against his jaw - her usual affectionate urges appearing that went along with her smoking, a frequent habit that Aemond had no plans on interrupting. He took another drag before gently tilting her head up with the tips of his fingers and kissing her, exhaling at the same time as she happily accepted - inhaling both the smoke and Aemond’s ‘hmm’ of pleasure. Parting, he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smirked, making her blush furiously. It didn’t seem to matter how long they’d been together, he would never stop flustering her.
“You’re so cute when you get all shy.” He taunted, wrapping a hand around her hip and pulling her in before sliding his hand down to rest on her thigh comfortably.
Seemingly having had enough of his teasing, (Y/n) took the hand on her thigh and slid it back up to her waist, moving to sit on his lap as she did so in one smooth motion - Aemond now leaning against the headboard with both a shocked and slightly flushed look on his face as she slipped his hand just under the hem of his her shirt to her lower back. She sat in only his her long shirt and underwear - the usual attire for sessions like this. It was now Aemond’s turn to blush, not resisting when she took the spliff from his hand and muffled her own amusement with a drag, copying his earlier actions and blowing it in his own face.
“You’re so cute when you get all shy.” She mocked with a grin.
Aemond hid a smile with a tight-lipped ‘tsk’ before he grabbed her hips and lifted her and placed her back on the bed, her back now against the soft blankets and legs either side of his body that now began to tickle her sides. Bursting into a fit of laughter and squeals, she almost dropped the spliff and burnt a hole in the duvet (which she had definitely, 100%, totally never done before).
“Stop! Stop! I give up, please!” Her words were broken by giggles and sharp intakes of breath, Aemond’s attack relentless.
The boy kissed along her neck lightly, only adding to the ticklish onslaught, “Not so strong now, are you, hm?”
She attempted to block each one with the contractions of her neck, hair splaying around her almost angelically, leaving Aemond exposed to a moment of weakness as he admired her. In that moment, (Y/n) managed to wiggle out of his entrapment and retreat under the covers, still taking drags as it began to reach its end.
“Greedy.” Scolded Aemond, taking it from her and joining her, wrapping himself in her hold and pulling up the cover, brushing it over her still scrunched nose from the laughter.
The two of them relaxed back into the previous calm, now feeling the full effects of their indulgence. He rested his head in the crook of her neck and took her hand into his own, lifting it above them slightly and playing with her relaxed fingers as well as tracing the lines in her palm - earning the occasional ‘that tickles’ between her softly singing along to ‘Back To The Old House’ (the John Peel session version ofc). They fell into hushed conversations about whatever came to mind, whether it be what they’d done that week or the deepest philosophical questions ever thought up.
“Would you still love me if I was a cat?” Asked (Y/n) randomly, interrupting his re-telling of something his mother, Alicent, had said earlier that day.
Aemond let out a scoff of laugher, “What?”
She now took his hand in hers as they continued to be interlinked, “Like, if I turned into a cat, would you still love me.”
He pretended to think, closing his good eye in ‘concentration’.
“You aren’t supposed to think about it!” She lightly hit his chest with their still joined hands and pouted at his lack of response.
He kissed her chastely and smiled down at her, “Of course I would.”
“More than Vhagar?”
As if on cue, Vhagar, Aemond’s incredibly large Maine Coon, hopped onto the bed and nuzzled in between the two as if to remind (Y/n) of who had Aemond first. The girl laughed and fussed the ageing cat with a happy smile.
“Okay, too far.” She gave in as Vhagar rested her head on (Y/n)’s chest, purring loudly.
Aemond, too, scratched her behind the ears and grinned as her purring increased almost immediately, “I think she’s starting to like you more than me.”
“Never.” Whispered (Y/n), watching as Vhagar tilted her head back to look at Aemond, blinking slowly at him.
“That’s how you look at me.”
(Y/n) huffed and rolled her eyes at his smirk, “You wish.” She wrapped an arm around his torso as Vhagar moved to curl up in the space beside his head on the pillow.
Aemond traced the back of his hand over her cheeks and brought her lips upwards to meet his for what seemed like the hundredth time, yet she welcomed it all the same. Her eyes had since glazed over and softened, the inevitable red hue making them sparkle as they did his. She smiled at him and blinked hazily.
“See,” he nodded towards her, “identical.”
“Shut up.” Another thing they felt had been said for the hundredth time that night.
“Whatever, pretty girl.” He kissed her forehead as he knew that that would not be the final kiss nor the final ‘shut up’ of the night - but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sleepy Confessions
Aemond Targaryen x Reader
Warnings: drinking, language, sexual references, SO MUCH fluff, completely not re-read and checked as I’m absolutely mortal rn
Words: girl i cba to count rn but it’s not that long 🕺🏻
A/N: I’m drunk and sleepy writing this so that’s the inspo 😍
————————————————————————
The fuzzy feeling in her body only increased in warmth as she sipped on drink after drink until it had seemed five pitchers had passed. Her and Aegon were dizzy from laughter alone as they continued to lean on each other in amusement. As Helaena’s lady-in-waiting, it wasn’t exactly appropriate, per say, for her to be drinking with her lady’s husband, let alone the king. However, Aegon had taken a liking to her and refused to let her go, and, even more surprisingly, he hadn’t tried to sleep with her. Well, not explicitly; he certainly wouldn’t say no. The only thing that seemed to stop him was her ardent admiration of his brother, something she didn’t seem to shut up about as she nursed her Dornish wine- the bottles he reserved for himself, and it seemed her, too.
“He’s just so…” her slurred words attempted to find the adjective she was looking for, hands circling the air, “admirable.”
Aegon scoffed with a smile, “Admirable?”
Blushing, (Y/n) swatted his arm, “He is! He is the best swordsman in all the Seven Kingdoms, in my opinion, and the trials he faced as a child were unfathomable. He is very admirable, thank you very much.” She sat back in her seat in pride, a warm confidence blinding her reservations.
Usually, she was the perfect lady; soft-spoken, kind, polite. Yet, every time she drank with Aegon, she became rather lively and confident while keeping her air of elegance, of course. The King admired it. Not many ladies could handle the volume in which he drank, but it seemed she was challenging him as she was a drink or two ahead.
“You should tell him.” Aegon insisted, suddenly a little more serious, “He-” there was a pause, “Nevermind.”
Now alarmingly interested, (Y/n) shot forwards in her chair, almost falling out of it, “What?”
Aegon waited a beat before speaking, he could never keep much of a secret against her, “He may or may not have expressed an interest in you.”
A gasp left her mouth, had she been sober, she would have been more collected. Alas, she was not.
“What did he say? I want details!” Her giggles and hopeful gaze made Aegon grin, he loved to see her happy.
“He named you the most beautiful woman in all of Westeros.” Aegon furrowed his brows and leant forwards, face inches away from (Y/n)’s in a drunken stupor, “Well, I don’t think he meant to, but he did. It’s confusing.”
(Y/n) looked at him, confused, but urged him to continue and explain.
“Jason Lannister expressed an… interest in what it would be like to wed you. Rather, the evening activities of such an event-”
“EW JASON LANNISTER WANTS TO BED ME?” She gagged almost comically and Aegon laughed at the disgusted look on her face, making him double over and gently take her forearm as he attempted to regain her attention.
“Listen, doll, okay there’s more to it.” Her attention was, once again, on the King, “Aemond got so jealous, it was so funny, he claimed that you would never do such a thing-”
“I wouldn’t!”
“And laughed, saying that ‘the most beautiful woman in Westeros would never lay with Jason’ before he even realised it.”
(Y/n) raised her hands, expression amplified by the alcohol, “He spoke truth, I would never!” However, Aegon did not miss the blush that subtly spread across her dainty face.
The confidence of the alcohol was evident as she joked, (but not really), “I would lay with him though, Gods know I would.”
“Lay with who?”
Both of their heads shot towards the large door of the hall that had been empty, save themselves of course. Aemond stood there with an eyebrow raised and his hands behind his back. He had come to fetch Aegon, but was not surprised that the Lady (Y/n) was with him, also.
“Brother!” Aegon beamed, “What a nice surprise, our lovely (Y/n) was just-”
“Nothing! I was just nothing!” She cut him off, although it just sounded like a slur of noises as she pushed a finger against his lips. The girl then turned to the younger brother, “Join us!”
Aemond looked hesitant, but the pout of her lips and pleading of her eyes drew him in. He slowly made his way to the small table they were seated at, watching as (Y/n) quickly downed the rest of her drink. Upon reaching the table, he noticed a lack of chairs, and it seemed the two other did, too.
“Here,” giggled a now very drunk (Y/n), “take my seat.”
He did so but remained confused, “But where will you si-”
Before he could finish, she had perched herself on his lap, hands wrapped around his neck as she and Aegon giggled. He blushed but didn’t protest, unconsciously wrapping his arms around her waist as she almost slipped off in her inebriated state.
“Hmm,” she hummed in content as she leant against his shoulder, the drunkenness fading into fatigue, “you’re so comfy, Aemy.”
Aegon raised his eyebrows and let out a short laugh, “Oh, so you’re ‘Aemy’ now? Why don’t I get a nickname, pretty girl?” His tone was slightly more flirtatious as he grew more and more intoxicated, not missed by Aemond who held onto the girl tighter at his brother’s words.
“I think you’ve both had enough-” he began, but was interrupted.
“Please drink with us! I’m not a bad drunk, I’ll be a good girl, I promise! I’m a fun drunk, at least that’s what Aeg said.”
Aemond had to ignore the way her utterance of ‘good girl’ had made him almost whimper for the sake of making sure his brother and… he didn’t even know what to call her at this point (sister’s lady-in-waiting, crush he’d had since he was only nine?) got to bed safely and somewhat comfortably.
“Finally, a nickname!” Aegon celebrated with another sip of wine.
Seeing him do such urged (Y/n) to take another sip of her own, to which Aemond placed his hand over its rim as if to imply she shouldn’t.
“Please, Aemy,” she pouted and elongated her ‘please’, “you can have some too, I just feel so good when I’m drunk.” She giggled once again and instead tiled the chalice to the young prince’s lips, which he accepted without even realising it.
Aegon laughed softly, “Already whipped.”
Shooting him a glare, Aemond tried to ignore the touch of her fingertips on his jaw as he took a sip from the cup. A hum left her lips at the sight and he swore he would have fell to his knees right there and then had his brother not been sat less than a foot away.
“Good, right?” She said in an almost-whisper, to which he nodded silently.
“Should I leave?”
“Aegon.” Reprimanded Aemond, watching with a touch of delight as (Y/n) blushed at Aegon’s suggestion.
The elder brother refilled (Y/n)’s now empty cup, which earned a disapproving look from Aemond, and giggled as he watched her immediately bring it up to her lips. Her legs swung slightly, leaving her to almost tip off of Aemond’s lap - the prince quickly wrapped a hand around her waist as he sighed in relief, his brother and (Y/n) laughing. A hiccup left the girl’s lips and she covered her mouth with her hand.
“Ow,” she whined, “hiccups hurt.” Her words were now almost unintelligible and a hazy look filled her eyes.
In a poor effort to fight her sleepiness, (Y/n) tried to spark up another conversation, “Aeg, tell me ‘nother story.”
But before he could even begin, her head had fallen against Aemond’s shoulder and she slumped into his hold subconsciously, the sleep washing over her. Aegon noticed the small twitch of a smile that graced his brother’s face that dropped as soon as he saw Aegon smirk.
“(Y/n/n).” Cooed Aegon, gently pushing the girl’s shoulder; she only whined once more and tucked her head into the crook of Aemond’s neck, making him blush furiously, “(Y/n/n), come on, you should go sleep, you sleepy sleep girl.” Aegon continued as he giggled again through his drunkness, pushing her a little harder to which she let out a weak, pained whine - Aemond pushed his hand away as she did so.
Standing up, (more like stumbling), Aegon held out his arms to the girl and she looked up at him hazily, “Come on, I’ll ‘scort you to your chambers, m’lady.” He tripped slightly over his own feet and almost fell face first onto the floor but recovered and held his arms back out.
Giggling at his state, (Y/n) nodded dramatically and slowly, “M’kay.” She began to lift herself from the young prince’s lap while rubbing her eyes with the heels of her hands, hair falling over her face.
Instinctively, Aemond reached out and re-took her waist in his hands, pulling her back down gently. Aegon quirked a brow and put his hands on his hips. (Y/n) also looked at him somewhat confused, but certainly not complaining to be back in his warm embrace.
The younger brother felt caught, trying to conjure up some excuse, “You are far too drunk, brother; I can escort the lady to her chambers.” He coughed in an attempt to cover up his real reasoning - he was simply enjoying her company.
This, however, did not escape Aegon, who nodded slowly and smirked, “M’kay, have fun.” He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and Aemond rolled his eyes in disgust.
“I, unlike you, would never defile a woman in such a state.” He mumbled under his breath, Aegon huffing in response.
Gently, Aemond wrapped (Y/n)’s arm around his waist and took her own in his, his spare hand went to grasp hers furthest from him in order to keep her steady.
A nearby knight stepped forwards and offered to escort the lady instead, but Aegon halted him with a hand out, “No, no, I wanna see how this goes.”
————————————————————————
The prince and Helaena’s lady-in-waiting unceremoniously made their way through the castle’s cold corridors as Aemond listened to her senseless mumbles with eager confusion.
“An’ she’s just so lovely! ‘Tis ‘shame she had to marry Aeg. He doesn’t ‘preciate her bugs. I love her bugs. ‘Though I d’spise holding them, makes me feel creepy ‘n crawly!” She shuddered and scrunched up her nose.
“Oh, yeah?”
“Uh-huh!”
“Like this?” Aemond grinned and teasingly tickled the side in his hold as they walked, making her squeal in delight and fold her knees.
Aemond laughed. A rare, rare sound.
(Y/n) stopped almost immediately, eyes wide and hazy, “You’re so lovely when you laugh. Please do it more.”
He was taken aback by her bluntness but gave a curt nod all the same, “For you, my lady, whenever you wish.”
They eventually reached the outside of her chambers and she fiddled with the door, “All th’time, please.” It eventually opened and she stepped in, “Actually!” She spun around and almost bumped right into him, “Only with me. I’m ‘gonna be selfish ‘n require only I can hear such a lovely sound.” She then gently took him by the arm and pulled him inside, closing the door.
There it was again, the lovely sound that had now quickly become her favourite, as she began to hum and lazily waltz around her room. Suddenly, she pulled at the ribbons of her dress and began to shimmy out of it.
Alarmed, Aemond darted to face the opposite way and tried to fight the redness in his cheeks, “My apologies, I should leave, I-”
“No,” she called out softly, so soft that he almost missed it, “please stay. I, uh-” she hurried to think of an excuse, “I require help with my laces.”
“It is improper, my lady, it-”
“Your lady, hm?” She smiled, “If I am your lady, then surely it is not improper for you to help me.” Her words were now a little more well-pronounced despite her tiredness as the alcohol-induced confidence kicked in once more.
Aemond slowly turned around and tried not to seem to nervous as he slowly approached her, the dying fire slowly flickering beside them.
“They’re a little ‘fusing,” there was the return of the slurring as she felt Aemond’s warm touch on her once more, “awfully tight and cross-crossy.” She took one of the pink layers of silk into her hand and hummed at its comfort, “But soft ‘n pretty.”
Now feeling the fabric for himself as his hands reached the end of the laces at the very bottom of her back, Aemond hummed and murmured in agreement, “Soft ‘n pretty.” His own, slight drunkness beginning to develop even after just half a glass; he concluded that her company and affections, alone, had dizzied him.
Turning away once more, Aemond gestured towards the satin and lace night slip on her bed, “You should change while I relight the fire.” She nodded tiredly and began to do so, albeit a little clumsily.
Once she had changed and the fire came to life, filling the roomy chambers with a warm glow, Aemond stood somewhat awkwardly in the middle of the floral rug atop the floor. His hands were abnormally straight by his sides as he wasn’t quite sure what to do. He had never even seen another lady’s chambers, aside from his mother’s and sister’s, and already felt as though he was intruding. He knew it was proper to leave, yet something in him urged him to wait.
Only when he heard a softly hushed ‘Aem’ did he make his way towards her plush, blush pink bed, “Yes, my lady?”
He could’ve swore he heard her say, ‘‘my lady’, I like that’ but wasn’t entirely sure as he struggled over the sound of his own heartbeat in his head.
“Stay.”
Aemond heard that clearly enough as said heartbeat stopped altogether.
At his immobility, the lady wrapped her hand in his and enticed him to sit beside her, “Please?”
Nothing in all of the Seven Kingdoms, of all of Essos, the unknown world, even the Gods, could have made him refuse her; with such a honeyed and drowsy charm to her plea, how could he?
Wordlessly, he removed his outer layers of clothing, leaving him in his small clothes, and cautiously lay beside her. He couldn’t help but hum in content at the feeling of her fluffed pillows and sheets, the sweet scent of her bath oils enveloping him. He had never felt more comfortable than in this moment, in this bed, laying with her.
“I would lay with him though, Gods know I would.”
Her previous words flashed back to the forefront of his mind and he felt a tear in his contentedness. Who was ‘him’? He dreaded the thought and immediately pulled she sheets higher in shame of his own hopefulness and naivety.
As if she could read his mind, (Y/n) turned to face him, her hair splayed over the pillows and cheeks still flushed from the wine, “It was you,” she admitted bashfully, causing Aemond to look at her in confusion at her ambiguity, “that I was talking about earlier.”
In realisation, Aemond’s eyes widened, “Me?”
Still embarrassed, but no less drunk, (Y/n) nodded and hid her face in her sheets while avoiding his gaze, “Sorry.”
“No,” His hand involuntary took her own as he lightly laughed, “do not apologise - it is a… well, a compliment as far as I’m concerned. I don’t think many ladies would share your opinion.”
She furrowed her brows, “What do you mean?”
A wave of insecurity seemed to wash over the prince, he despised voicing his ‘flaws’ and reservations about them. Gesturing to his eye, or lack thereof, he said nothing. The girl frowned and gently rested the tips of her fingers against the leather, tracing the seams and scuffs from his wearing of it. At first he flinched, but welcomed it as he assured himself that she would not laugh, would not tease, not like they had.
“I think it makes you all the more handsome.”
“Truly?”
“On my life.” She then, still dazed, but now for reasons other than the alcohol, took his cheek in her palm and followed the scar from his forehead to his cheekbone, “You were so brave, so young,” he had seen pity from people before in regards to his injury, but hers was so sincere that he, himself, almost began to tear up, “I can’t fathom how awful it must have been.”
Overwhelmed by her affections and sincerity, Aemond smiled sadly as he leant into her touch, “It is alright, my lady. Thank you for your kindness.”
She hummed once more and her eyes began to flutter closed, yet her touch never relented, instead she drew him closer. He followed. Eventually, and almost naturally, they lay with her head resting on his chest, one arm of his around her waist and the other cradling her dizzying head as he knew it would be sure to ache on the morrow.
“G’night, Aem.” She managed to breathe out through her slumbered state.
With a surge of confidence at her words and the little alcohol he’d had, Aemond placed a kiss on the crown of her head to which she nuzzled in closer, “Good night, beautiful girl.”
He could feel her smile against him, “Aegon was telling the truth.” She muttered to herself.
“What?”
“Nothing!”

Tumblr media
"I love you"
Those had been his words before you left King's Landing and after you returned for an indefinite time due to the condition of your grandsire, King Viserys.
But he had really felt them?
did Aemond Targaryen truly loved you?
For a time, both expressed their love and devotion for each other, proclaiming kisses, caresses and titles that they wanted to seal permanently with a Valyrian wedding.
The affection began as children. You were never mean to your uncle compared to your siblings and his older brother, Aegon. And fortunately Aemond always appreciated the good treatment he received from you.
And that good treatment led the two of you to start spending a lot of time together. By sharing a taste for literature, having interesting conversations about the history of your ancestors or even learning High Valyrian, you both formed a fondness and affection for each other.
There was never any objection from your mother, Princess Rhaenyra, about a friendship between her only daughter and her half-brother, the product of her father's second wife and once best friend.
Nevertheless, Alicent Hightower did have a problem.
When she began to notice her second son's affection for Princess Rhaenyra's daughter, she had to forbid him to spend time with you with more than strict measures and supervision.
"Mother said I must not spend time with you. She said that our duties are different and that I cannot learn embroidery with you and you cannot learn to use a sword with me."
He had told you once when the two of them met in the library sneaking around in the middle of the night with a sorrowful look and a sad tone of voice.
"My mother has never told me I can't spend time with you, Aemond. She has never forbidden me."
You had told him with such disappointment as you understood that the two of you could no longer spend time together and that all those readings together could no longer be possible, neither could High Valyrian lessons despite the fact that neither of you have a dragon yet.
"I know, Y/N."
And he had told you that with such resignation that tears began to form in your eyes.
"Then… we can't be friends anymore?"
And even though Aemond Targaryen at his young age has always been faithful to his mother in everything she told him, the most respectful and obedient, simply the polite and perfect son, seeing your tears and your sad face, at that moment he decided not to obey.
"I'm never going to let that happen. We'll still spend time together, I promise. But we'll have to be very careful."
He had told you to then take you in his arms, hugging you. A hug that you reciprocated instantly, making you feel better knowing that their friendship would continue.
And he keeps his word.
You begin to have secret meetings in the library, the kitchens or in the gardens, both being very careful not to be discovered.
The lessons of High Valyrian continued, also the readings of stories about Old Valyria, the reign of Aegon the Conqueror or the First Men.
Sometimes you would steal bread or cakes from the kitchens, then hide in the library or in the innermost corridors of the Keep where you knew you could not be found.
Everything was perfect. Two innocent children enjoying a friendship and at the same time preparing for their respective duties to the realm.
Until one day, your mother decided to leave with her whole family to Dragonstone.
It was a very hard blow for Aemond and you because you had never been separated before. Your mother had never even considered leaving King's Landing as she was the Heir to the Throne and very much aware that she must remain at Court.
But Alicent Hightower had been more astute and by her behavior managed to dispossess the princess of her own home.
So there is no alternative for you and Aemond to exchange letters and keep in touch as much as possible.
Once you arrived at Dragonstone, letters between the two of you were never lacking in that short period of time between your departure from King's Landing and then Aemond's accident at Driftmark.
Aunt Laena Velaryon had died and despite it being an unfortunate event, you were happy to see Aemond again and he too longed to feel close to you again.
However, the Gods are cruel and the accident marked Aemond's life forever, as well as the rivalry between Queen Alicent and Princess Rhaenyra.
And although Lucerys is your brother, Aemond, even in his state of hatred, never resented you for his lost eye, nor the clear rivalry between your mother and his.
On the contrary, the relationship between them was strengthened because you did not want to separate after such a fatal accident that made you cry while you hugged him tightly, thinking that maybe you could have lost him.
So the letters continued, some exchanges of gifts as well and even some secret visits that you allowed yourselves to have on the backs of your dragons to meet in a midpoint.
Or rather on a small island in Blackwater Bay.
Aemond had managed to claim Vhagar, the largest dragon in all the world and the one that once had Visenya Targaryen as a rider, while you claimed Silverwing, the dragon of the good queen Alyssane Targaryen.
Until King Viserys' health began to deteriorate in a serious and worrisome way, so your mother decided to return for an indefinite time to the Red Keep.
And the moment you and Aemond were reunited, that bond between the two of you only grew stronger, so everything formed the word courtship and it was no secret to your families.
It was no secret despite the clear rivalry between the Targaryens and the Hightowers and even more so with Alicent Hightower against the clear affection between his son and Y/N Velaryon.
But everyone knew that you are not a true Velaryon.
A bastard.
That's what you are in the eyes of the Hightower. And no matter that your hair was platinum like the Targaryen's, you were not the daughter of Laenor Velaryon, but probably of Daemon Targaryen.
Queen Alicent knows the depravity of Princess Rhaenyra and there was no other explanation for it, considering also that your brothers are bastards, but of Harwin Strong.
And Queen Alicent felt that spite and hatred for Princess Rhaenyra being so brazen and giving birth to children not legitimate. And the same thoughts she shared with her father, her children and Larys Strong.
However, Aemond didn't want to hear anything she told him about you.
He understood that his mother was angry with his half-sister, but that didn't mean she would have to turn him against you as well for something they had nothing to do with.
Bastard or not… you were always a good person to him regardless. And all Aemond wanted, as well as you too, was to be together.
It didn't matter that your brother was the boy who took his eye, that was a separate point for him.
And when you were ten and eight while Aemond was ten and nine, the talks and planning for a marriage began.
Marriage that was not approved by Alicent and Otto Hightower, but Aemond didn't care. He had already let too much time pass without making a move.
And that was dangerous considering that you are a princess of the realm and many lords had already asked for your hand. And because of your age, you had to make a decision now.
But you had already chosen him, in fact since you were a little girl. And now he had already done something about it by asking for your hand. And finally you could both call each other husband and wife, what you always wanted.
Your father, Daemon, didn't agree to the marriage, Jace didn't either. But your mother took your wishes into consideration and spoke to your grandsire, King Viserys, who approved and gave his blessing for a marriage between his son Aemond and his granddaughter Y/N.
At this, Queen Alicent could do nothing, much less Otto Hightower despite their replies and clear displeasure.
And when your mother gave you the news, it made you very happy to know that finally Aemond could call you his and you could call him yours.
"But are you completely sure about this, my love?"
Your mother asks you, looking at you with eyes of love and understanding, holding your hand. To which you only nod with a small smile on your lips.
"Yes."
She smiles too, stroking the back of your hand with her thumb. Then she lets out a long breath and nods as she lowers her gaze for a moment, which catches your attention.
"You agree, mother?"
She again looks at you with a slightly bewildered look.
"It doesn't matter what I think, sweet girl. What matters is that you really are sure that he is the man you want to spend the rest of your life with."
"I know but your opinion matters to me."
Again Rhaenyra's sweet smile returns to her lips, watching you adoringly for a few moments to again let out a small breath.
"Well… I saw that coming, in a way," she smiles at you, "And I think we all do, actually."
"So you don't feel uncomfortable?"
"No," she denies absurdly, "I remind you that I did exactly as you wish, my love."
"It doesn't hurt to ask you and want to know how you really feel, mother."
Your mother is silent for a few seconds, thinking about your words and thinking about her own next.
"Well… if we go back in time, certainly your grandsire must have felt uncomfortable and… weird about the idea of his brother and his only daughter at the time together," she says sympathetically, "something I never understood until now that I get to be in the same position as him. But that's our family and I couldn't oppose the idea of what you wish," she assures you, "Ever since you and Aemond started being inseparable as children, I knew it would turn out like this. And I knew that the thought of you both being meant to burn together could not be inevitable. And I understand that perfectly."
You nod slowly, listening and understanding his words, thinking.
"But father doesn't think the same," you say with some disappointment, "Neither do my brothers. They are upset with this and with me, I know."
"My love, you don't worry about them," your mother tells you immediately, "your father will eventually understand, he can't be such a hypocrite, can he? And your brothers… they don't see that this will probably put an end to the rivalry between the two families, despite what happened in Driftmark. I don't expect Aemond to forgive Luke either, but there's always a chance and hope," she assures you, "So this is good, very good. Otherwise, Aemond would not have asked for your hand and I would not have spoken to the king to give his blessing."
That time your mother's words could not have comforted you more, making you feel genuinely happy and no longer feeling worried about the people around you because of your marriage to Aemond.
And that time you had also gone in search of Aemond after leaving your mother's chamber, finding him in the library, feeling relieved and happy.
"I spoke to my mother," you tell him, intertwining your fingers with his, "She said to be sure to set a date for the wedding with the king and she will tell us as soon as they come to an agreement."
Aemond watches you with a barely visible half-smile, all his gaze soft and watching you intently, with fondness and longing, noticing how you can't help but be excited about the wedding.
"And do you have any preferences for the wedding you'd like to share with me?"
He asks you softly, completely catching your attention, smiling at him.
"Actually, I should be asking you that question," you take a seat next to him, not letting go of his hand.
"I was the one who insisted on a traditional wedding," he reminds you with an obvious look, "You know I would prefer the Valyrian wedding, just like you. Less people, few witnesses and everything just like the tradition of our house."
"The traditional wedding thing you asked for taking your mother's wish into consideration. She doesn't approve of this, so that's the only way to keep her less angry," you also remind him, "Still after our wedding at the Septon, we can fly to Dragonstone and have the Valyrian wedding we want so much. We can even stay there, just you and me."
Aemond smiles, bringing your hand to his lips, leaving chaste, soft kisses on the back of yours, understanding perfectly what you are implying, just what he desires as well.
"No celebration feast, then?" he peers over your hand.
"You want a feast?"
"It doesn't matter what I want, Y/N. All I want is to marry you and unite our blood, that's all that matters to me."
You smile softly, moving a little closer towards him.
"I know, nothing is more important to me too," you tell him softly, "but don't be so insensitive about the preparations, Aemond," you tell him amused.
He rolls his eye, still smiling and still not letting go of your hand for wanting to keep feeling your touch.
"Well, then tell me what's concerning you."
"They are not concerns, I just want to know your opinion and take into consideration some wishes you want to make."
"And what are those?"
"Well… your opinion would help me to know about what colors of the dress I should wear."
Aemond stops his caresses on your hand and watches you with a thin line on his lips and really expressionless for a few seconds without saying anything.
"I know perfectly well that this is about a concern of yours, Y/N," he finally tells you afterwards.
"Well, yes, yes it is a concern," you reluctantly confess.
"The colors of a dress?"
"Well, what am I supposed to do? Wear green or red?"
"My love, the dress will be yours, not mine. Besides, I know you don't like green."
"Yes but that color is yours."
"No, it's not mine, green is my mother's color," he reminds you, "I may wear it sometimes, but we are both more Targaryen than anything. So if you must choose colors, let them be red and black, just the same colors I will wear."
At that moment in front of him you don't show it, but you feel really relieved to hear his words, the dress being an issue that really had you worried sick.
So you get up, let out a long breath and sit on his lap, him instantly accepting you in his arms, while you drop your head on his chest in a defeated motion.
"What would I do without you," you murmur.
Aemond lets out a small laugh.
"'Rather what would I do without you, Issa jorrāelagon."
You let out a long breath, closing your eyes, taking comfort in the fact that you are in the arms of Aemond, the man you love.
"You're right," you murmur, "All I want is to call a Septon and have him marry us right now with no preparations and no other planning. I was going crazy over a dress and it's only the beginning."
"Don't worry, my love," he assures you softly, "We will plan the whole wedding together, without any third opinions and wishes. And in the end, it will all have been worth it. We'll finally be married, what we've always wanted."
You smile softly, lifting your face a little towards him to watch him, to which he also watches you, seeing your face light up, full of illusion and excitement.
"I still can't believe it."
""You know there's no turning back now, don't you? Once I see you at the Septon, you're already bound to me forever."
"Just what I've always wanted. Unless you don't want to."
"Of course I want to, I'm just warning you," he tells you with a smile, "And I also remind you that the blood of the dragon runs thick."
"We are lucky we share the same blood, my love."
Unable to help yourself any longer, Aemond's lips just above you being an invitation you complacently want to heed, you place your hands on his cheeks and begin to caress your lips with his, sharing a soft, affection-filled kiss that he reciprocates, holding you by your waist.
And even though you have shared countless kisses before, this one is undoubtedly different, because very soon he will be yours and you will be his, finally.
"Avy jorrāelan," you murmur against his lips.
"Avy jorrāelan, Issa gevie ābrazȳrys."
You let out a small laugh at his lips, pulling away from him a little.
"I'm not your wife yet."
"And your point is…?"
You laugh again, stroking his long hair, watching his handsome face, stroking his scar as well, watching him with desire and adoration, all of him being what you want.
"Yet you will be soon."
And again he pulls you close in a needy kiss which you reciprocate instantly, really not looking forward to the big day anymore, wanting, no, rather needing to call him your husband as soon as possible.
And finally you can tell when the big day will be you are with Aemond in the gardens, both of you taking a walk before he goes to take his daily sword training and you get the seamstress to plan your dress, when your mother appears and approaches you both.
She has a small smile on her face, so you can tell this is good news.
"I spoke with the king a few moments ago. The Maester's are taking very good care of him and we have finally agreed on a date for the wedding."
"I hope it is soon, sister," Aemond says to your surprise, listening and watching your mother carefully, with a serious look, "Though I would not be surprised if my father in his state, blinded by the milk of Poppy, has suggested the end of the year."
"No, it's not like that, brother," she tells him almost in the same condescending tone, "I let him know what you are expecting and the date has been dictated for before the end of spring, on another moon."
You hold back your huge smile and excitement, holding Aemond's hand a little tightly in a second out of excitement, that just sounding perfect, just what you wished for.
And even though you know Aemond must also feel the same happiness, he doesn't show it in front of your mother, holding back.
"Does my mother know?" he asks your mother in a softer tone.
Rhaenyra denies with a serious but restrained look of sadness and disappointment.
"No," she clears her throat, lowering her gaze for a moment, "I thought you would want to tell her," she confesses to him, "I never find the opportunity to talk to her," she purses her lips, "She won't let me."
Aemond at your side just nods in her direction, understanding. He also understands that this behavior on his mother's part towards his half-sister has always been there since she returned to the Keep.
And he doesn't think that will change, even after the wedding, but he appreciates Rhaenyra's efforts to try to talk to her and not leave her out of his wedding, despite her insensitivity at Driftmark.
It doesn't mean he'll be nice and friendly to her, it's just that little appreciation.
Then slowly Aemond turns to you and leaves a soft kiss on your forehead, locking you in his arms for a moment, wanting to feel you close.
You smile and hug him back, turning your face to look at your mother with a small more than happy smile on your lips, your mother also smiling in your direction, honestly feeling happy for the both of you.
News of the date begins to spread among the families and soon after throughout the Court as well, with the wedding of Prince Aemond Targaryen and Princess Y/N Velaryon being the most anticipated of the year.
It was still something Otto and Alicent Hightower didn't want, neither did Daemon Targaryen, but the king had already given his blessing and he himself wanted the news to spread throughout Westeros, wanting a truly unforgettable wedding.
Until a few days after your mother let you both know the wedding date, you unexpectedly began to see Aemond less frequently.
Usually the two of you every day go for a walk in the garden or meet in the library. And if you don't have time during the day, at night he sneaks into your chamber or you sneak into his through the secret passages.
However, none of that also happened to make up for lost time.
You would see him a few moments at the training yard with Criston Cole and a few other knights, but that was about it. And when you looked for him in the library, it looked like he wasn't going to spend any more time there.
And just when you decided to sneak through the secret passages to go to his chambers, you stopped and thought to yourself that maybe he's nervous and needs time to think about the wedding.
The wedding of the two of you is something you were longing for since you understood the meaning of a union that now that it's finally going to happen…probably has him very anxious and needs space.
Until the days go by and you start to feel that something is wrong, as you realize that he is avoiding you, something he has never done before.
You tried to talk to him but Criston Cole would let you know that he was having a meeting with his grandsire or was in the company of the queen. He would also tell you that the prince was out for a ride on his dragon.
You asked him to send him a message from you when he saw him, but it seemed that those messages never reached his ears or if they did, he ignored you.
And when you went to look for him at the training yard, you were told that the prince had skipped his training or had already trained very early in the morning, leaving you confused and not understanding anything.
You were completely disconcerted that the two of you suddenly stopped seeing each other and spending time together, so without thinking about it, one night you took the secret passage and slipped into the darkness with a candle in your hand and headed to Aemond's chambers.
But as you try to push his secret door, confusion overcomes you and your pulse stops for a moment when it won't open, being blocked by something from the other side.
You think about shouting his name, but instantly you know it's a very bad idea as you can't risk the secrecy of the passageways out of desperation.
But more and more disappointment and worry fill you, not understanding what is happening and thinking that it must be something bad.
At this, you show your concern to your mother, who continues to attend to matters at court, keeping an eye on the king's health and helping you with the preparations for the wedding.
"Sure it's nothing, sweet girl. Men act in ways we don't understand, just as we act in ways they don't understand us. Perhaps he is preparing to be a good husband to you and both of you to do your duty for the realm.
"But it seems so strange to me," you say worried, "He doesn't talk to me, I practically don't see him and he even seems to avoid me."
"Have you tried to talk to him yet?"
"Yes, yes, all the time," you reply in an instant, "He even said he would help me get everything ready for the wedding but… I never see him."
"Y/N….
"I just don't understand, mother. We used to spend time together and now that we're finally getting married, he's acting weird."
"Sweet girl…
"Or is it that he doesn't want to marry me anymore?"
You interrupt him with a broken voice and utter disappointment and sadness in your eyes, realization starting to creep into your mind, really not understanding anything.
"My love, you shouldn't go to extremes," your mother tells you in an instant, not wanting you to get upset and start thinking the worst, "He's been longing for this wedding as much as you have. He's probably just nervous and just needs time and space."
You look at your beautiful mother not so sure.
"Are you sure?" you ask her in a breathy whisper.
"Yes, my love, very sure."
She quickly moves towards you to lock you in her arms and comfort you, telling you that everything will be all right and that what you want so much , will finally happen.
But if only that had been it.
Not long after talking to your mother, once you head to your mother's chambers after leaving the chambers of your sweet Aunt Helaena with whom you were discussing some lovely ideas for the wedding, a guard intercepts you in the middle of the hallway, stopping you.
"Prince Aemond requires your presence in the Council Chamber, Princess. Immediately."
Such words could not have made you feel happier and relieved, finally ending this torture, so you quickly make your way to the Council Chamber, in an instant thinking about why Aemond has asked to see you there.
But honestly you don't care, all you want is to finally see him and talk to him.
And in an instant you already find yourself walking through the doors of the Council Chamber, happy to see Aemond's figure finally, standing with his back to you from the other side of the table, waiting for you.
But you must have thought something was wrong when he didn't even turn to look at you when he heard the sound of the doors opening and your footsteps approaching.
"My love, I'm so relieved to finally see you," you say with a smile, approaching him happily, "I was so worried, you don't know how much I wanted to see you and talk to you. I have so much to tell you, I even came to think that….
"I won't marry you."
Then your whole world stops, just like your feet, stopping abruptly at his words, your smile fading in a second and watching him now in shock.
The room goes completely silent, with no one else present, just the two of you, not even a guard present at his request for discretion… for now.
"I have spoken to my father… I have already cancelled all preparations, the Septon and my family have also been made aware."
And at his words, you feel like each one of them is a knife straight to your heart, tearing it from the inside, feeling an intent, sharp pain in your chest.
You look at him with your lips parted, your gaze completely bewildered and your eyes starting to fill with tears.
You are completely paralyzed, unable to move despite feeling yourself start to tremble, seeing him not even look back at you, telling you all this without any emotion, as if it meant nothing.
"Your family must also be being notified right now, the whole Court will know soon too."
"But…
You try to say with a thread of a voice, but he again speaks, still turning his back to you and with no emotion in his voice, no emotion in his posture either, leaving you to see a man you don't know completely.
"That's all. You can go now."
Disbelief is completely reflected in your gaze, truly not understanding anything, with tears starting to involuntarily flow out of your eyes at his coldness and insensitivity.
Because he's already done everything… without you having the slightest idea.
"Are you serious?"
You manage to say, your voice completely broken and in a whisper, needing to sit up or lean against something, feeling your strength go.
"Doesn't it sound like I'm serious?" he inquires.
"Aemond…
"I told you that's all, you can go now," he repeats you with the same seriousness and coldness, as if you were nobody to him.
Then the first sob escapes your lips, trying to control yourself, but you cannot.
You continue to stand there, watching him with all the sadness in the world, also with all the confusion, really not understanding anything, needing an explanation, wanting to know why, what you have done wrong, what has happened, why he so suddenly changed his mind.
Everything was fine, everything seemed fine, that you just don't understand.
"I-I don't… I don't understand anything, I-I….
"If you don't leave Y/N, I'll leave," he warns you, without even looking you in the eye for a second.
"But you… I-I… I thought…
He won't let you talk, he just doesn't want to listen to you and just like he said, that's what he does. He lets out a frustrated sigh and heads out of the Council Chamber, leaving you behind, heartbroken and not knowing why.
"Aemond," you call out to him between sobs, pleading.
Not knowing where you have drawn strength from, you move towards him once he is within reach, grabbing his arm, wanting to stop him and make him explain, but as soon as you reach him, he quickly pushes you away in a sharp, tactless movement, treating you, again, as if you were nobody.
"Don't,"" he warns you in a threatening and cold tone, resuming his way to the doors in a more hurried pace, not even looking back.
His demeanor and coldness leave you completely shocked and static, never in a million years expecting such behavior from him towards you.
And once he leaves the Council Chamber, you feel your heart completely broken and your mind a mess of emotions, wanting to believe that this is not real, starting to cry and sob loudly.
A complete mess, Aemond leaves you there without explanation and without caring at all about your feelings, all being said and done.
Not long after, your mother and father rush into the Council Chamber, looking for you, finding you still a mess and you quickly asking them for explanations, explanations they had no idea about either.
And all that time, you kept asking yourself why, why he had done this to you if he was supposed to love you and want to marry you.
But nobody understood anything. Only he knew why he had done it.
Tumblr media
Weeks have passed since the announcement of the cancelled betrothal between prince Aemond and princess Y/N.
You being the protagonist of the topic to talk about, even so the men and women of the Court were not at all dissimulated and kept feeding the news more and more with each passing day.
Different rumors ran about the possible cause that caused the wedding to be canceled, rumors that you did not want to hear and for which you ended up locking yourself in your chamber, not wanting to see anyone.
You barely slept and barely ate, watching the days pass by through your windows slowly, with huge bags under your eyes and dismissing your maids whenever they wanted to assist you.
You hadn't seen him since that conversation either.
You didn't hear from anyone except your family who were in charge of making you react by going into your chamber to take a bath and eat something, your mother extremely worried about you and your father specifically having someone in mind for wanting to murder upon seeing your state.
Everyone was still as confused as you were, even your mother asked Queen Alicent for an explanation, but to no avail. She even tried to talk to Aemond, but he wouldn't let her, saying that everything was already done.
It was so much the humiliation that not even your mother would force you to leave your chamber, no matter how much she wanted to get you out of your four walls, Daemon feeling extremely upset and indignant.
Your brothers never said anything to you, but they were extremely worried about you too, as were your sisters Baela and Rhaena.
Even your grandmother Rhaenys sent her concerns from Driftmark, but no one had any explanations for anyone.
And you too, despite everything, still wanted an explanation from him. You wanted to understand, you wanted to know why… because you needed to, you needed to know.
But you never tried to talk to him again. How could you if he had left you totally devastated with no justification?
And you knew that if you tried, Aemond wouldn't be willing to talk to you. He found it easier to forget and move on, as if nothing had happened, without caring, just what he is doing now.
Until one day the king requested a dinner with every member of his family, including you, without any exception, wanting to have a dinner with everyone together, wanting the waters to calm down after so much tension.
Your mother assured you that your grandsire was no longer blinded by the milk of poppy, that he made sure to drink less of it now, and yet you thought that your grandsire still conscious, made the worst decisions.
You could no longer continue to take refuge in your chambers, so with no alternative, your maids prepare you for dinner, dressing you and making you a hairstyle as usual, nothing new and nothing missing.
"You can do this, my sweet girl," your loving mother says to you, holding your face with both her hands, "We will be with you at all times. I will be with you always by your side," she assures you, "You just ignore him, ignore them all, I will do the rest. Let's just please your grandsire on this, all right?"
Unable to help yourself, you hug your mother tightly and in one needy movement, to which she hugs you back with all that love and all that comfort you so desperately need, understanding you completely.
You try not to cry, because you've cried too much already and you're tired of it, but now you can't help it, needing your perfect mother for strength.
"Thank you," you murmur into her chest.
"I love you, my love. I would do anything for you."
You smile with happiness and sadness at the same time, with pain, starting to cry, trying not to make noise.
"I love you too."
She then tells you that you can stay a moment longer in her chambers before leaving to give you time, but what you don't want is to draw attention to yourself, so you prefer to arrive before anyone else in the dining room.
Then your whole family takes their respective seats, your father instantly giving you the seat next to your mother so that you are not sitting across from him, everyone knowing perfectly well which is his usual seat.
Then the doors open again and it's them, all the green ones.
You lower your gaze and pretend not to care about anything as he walks through the doors, following Aegon, just being in the same room as him making you feel something you don't know exactly what it is but you don't like it, feeling uncomfortable as well.
He doesn't look a single second in your direction either, but instantly being the center of attention of your father, who is the one who takes a seat in front of him, with Rhaena and Luke.
Shortly after, the king makes his entrance, everyone rising from their seats to greet him.
And more shortly after, you want to say that time fortunately passes quickly but unfortunately it doesn't, so you just suffer in silence, with your mother holding your hand from time to time, wanting to give you all her possible support in this.
The servants serve the food and wine, that fortunately distracting you, also the music your grandsire orders to play, this being a bit more bearable.
But all you want to do is get out of this room and never be in the company of all the Hightowers ever again.
You know that sweet Helaena is not to blame for anything, but she is part of them too by being Aegon's wife and already having three children with him.
And that couldn't make you sadder… sweet Helaena being wife to a man who doesn't deserve her.
Your father offers you his hand in a moment as Rhaena and Luke rise from their seats and head to the center to dance, also Jace invites Helaena.
Your father shows you his support even though he had said from the beginning that your betrothal to Aemond was a bad idea. But you are also his sweet little girl and he lets you know that he will always be there for you.
When the moment is interrupted by Otto Hightower, wanting to make an announcement, stopping the music and drawing the attention of everyone in the room.
You exchange a glance with your father, you don't even look in Otto's direction when everyone else does, because he is so close to his grandsire.
"Now that we're all together, I'm very pleased to let you know the great news…..
Otto Hightower says and you raise your wine glass to your lips, not really caring.
"My grandson Prince Daeron who is in Oldtown, will soon return to the capital to marry Cerelle Lannister, daughter of our Naval advisor, Jason Lannister," he announces proudly.
Everything is silent for a few seconds, you still not giving importance to anything or anyone, still thinking about the great news, definitely.
You didn't even remember Daeron, he's been so long away from Kings Landing that it's impossible to remember him. And before anyone says anything, just to corroborate what Otto is saying, he again speaks up.
"It is also my pleasure to inform you that my grandson Aemond….
Your heart stops for a second, as well as that definitely catches everyone's attention, everyone listening attentively and you too, unconsciously.
"He has also been betrothed to one of Lord Borros Baratheon's four daughters, the lady Floris Baratheon," he says and continues, "these two marriages clearly being more than excellent benefits to the house of the dragon and so securing our bloods, both the common and the blood of old Valyria."
At that moment you did not notice the exchange of glances from your brothers and sisters, also the mocking smile that your father let out when he heard the man's words, as well as the serious look on your mother's face when she heard everything.
You just focused on yourself, pretending none of it mattered to you, feigning indifference, when your mind could only repeat one thing at all times:
"My grandson Aemond has also been betrothed to one of Lord Borros Baratheon's four daughters, the Lady Floris Baratheon."
You want to cry. And a lot.
However, it was only more humiliation than necessary and you had to control yourself, needing this dinner to be over as soon as possible.
Again absolute silence is in the huge room, you couldn't care less.
When Alicent is the first to congratulate her son, as well as your grandsire in a weak and hoarse voice, then your mother also offers the coldest congratulations she has ever given, simply to keep up appearances.
And you can only think: was this necessary?
How mean Otto Hightower had to be and so did Alicent to want to humiliate you further by announcing such a thing, to you and your entire family for that matter. It just wasn't necessary.
Until finally the dinner is over and everyone can leave once the king takes his leave and retires to his chambers first.
Completely controlling your tears, you enter your room with your father more than furious, followed by your mother and your brothers and sisters.
"What the fuck was that!?" he inquires to your mother.
"My love…
"Do you really think I'm just going to stand here and do nothing!?"
"Oh really? And what are you going to do?" asks your mother too, seriously, "Cut off the heads of Aemond and Otto Hightower?
"They have humiliated us, Rhaenyra!" he exclaims to her in annoyance, "they can talk and humiliate me all they want, but they will not humiliate you or my family!"
"Father…
Baela tries to talk to him, but he won't let her.
"We're going to go talk to Viserys this instant and Y/N's wedding to that fucking one-eyed is going to happen."
"Are you serious?" your mother inquires again, "Husband, you were the first to oppose the marriage."
"They have humiliated our daughter, don't you see!" he points out angrily, "her marriage to Aemond would have given us more power over them if we had him and Vhagar on our side. Now by the time Viserys dies, you're not going to have enough support for your claim," he tells her seriously, "We need Lord Borros on our side as well."
"Daemon, this isn't about the crown, this is about our daughter."
"And that is exactly why I will not let such humiliation pass," he tells her seriously and with a dark look on his face, "he asked for Y/N's hand, he gave you a whole speech to allow him to marry her, now he keeps his word or he marries no one, just like that."
"I want to go home."
You speak in the middle of all the discussion, staring at an unimportant spot in your chamber, tears running down your cheeks, your sad, tired, broken voice calling for everyone's attention.
Your mother and sisters quickly turn to you, concerned about your condition.
"What is it, my love?"
Your mother asks you, running her hands through your hair, watching you intently.
"I want to go home," you repeat, "I want to go to Dragonstone."
Your mother immediately looks at your father, who looks back at her, serious and attentive to you, feeling more upset at seeing you so broken.
"My love, we can't leave," your mother tells you in a soft voice, "We need to take care of your grandsire and stay at Court, as it should be."
"You stay here," you say in an instant, "I will go."
Your mother denies, understanding you, but unable to allow it.
"My love, don't…
"Please," you plead, "please, Mother. At least just for a little while, I promise I'll come back later," you beg, "But now… I just want to get out of here, please."
Your mother watches you for a few moments without saying anything with her lips parted, again exchanging a glance with Daemon, who nods slightly in her direction.
But Rhaenyra won't let you go just like that. She is your mother, after all.
"You'll be alone, my sweet," she says with some fear, "I can't leave you alone and I won't be at ease with that."
"She won't be," Rhaena says instantly, drawing everyone's attention, "I'll go with her and Luke will too. We'll come back when she's ready."
"No, absolutely not," says your mother resolutely, "I can't have the three of you in Dragonstone alone, no….
"Let them," your father interrupts, "I'd rather Y/N leave this snake pit until everything calms down. I feel better with the idea of Rhaena and Luke accompanying her, so the three of them will take care of each other."
"And we won't necessarily always have to stay at Dragonstone," Rhaena adds, "We can fly to Driftmark and spend a few days keeping our grandmother company too."
Your mother turns your gaze to you, who you completely beg with your gaze to let you do this, to let you go for now.
And of course, you feel completely grateful to Rhaena and your little brother for not letting you go alone. Clearly Jace and Baela are the heirs after your parents and it makes the most sense for them to stay here at Court.
Until finally your mother lets out a long breath, not herself believing she will accept this, being too afraid to let her children go to Dragonstone alone.
Though she knows there is no better safe place for them, even safer than King's Landing.
" All right," she finally says, "But I'll fly with you there and then I'll come back, just to make sure everything will be okay."
You immediately nod, not really caring, since all you want to do is get out of here and not come back.
Again your mother hugs you, transmitting all that comfort and affection you always need from her, really not wanting to leave here. You were so excited to go back to the Keep but you weren't expecting any of this to happen.
And now you just want to go home and come back when you feel better.
Soon enough you find yourself in Dragonpit, with your mother, Luke and Rhaena ready to fly to Dragonstone, with your father, Jace, Baela, Joffrey, little Aegon and little Viserys seeing them off.
And as soon as you finish saying goodbye, the sooner you find yourself in the skies and the sooner you arrive at the black castle, your home. You needed to let many moons pass to cope with your broken heart and such humiliation, also to accept that Aemond never really loved you and that he would soon marry another woman who would not be you.
All the while shedding tears, lasting more nights without sleep and more days with no appetite for anything, only finding comfort in riding your dragon as your mother was not around.
But Silverwing was always there for you and could feel everything you felt.
Until one day, more moons after your departure from King's Landing, Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen return to Dragonstone with their entire family for a short time, promising to return soon.
And shortly after the Heir to the Throne leaves King's Landing, a raven arrives at the Red Keep, announcing the unexpected new news.
The Heir, Princess Rhaenyra returns to King's Landing in less than two moons with her King consort Prince Daemon and her entire family to celebrate the wedding of Princess Y/N Velaryon to Lord Cregan Stark, Lord of Winterfell.
And that message is spread all over the Red Keep, all over King's Landing and eventually all over Westeros.

Babysitting Duties
Aemond Targaryen x Reader
Warnings: so so so much fluff, typical asoiaf stuff tbh (mentions of targcest)
Words: 1.7K
A/n: I feel like Aemond would be such a girl dad and I won’t take criticism on that 🗣️👆🏼
————————————————————————
Giddiness practically radiated off of (Y/N) as she, Aemond, and Queen Alicent made their way to Helaena and Aegon’s chambers. As Helaena’s favourite lady-in-waiting, (Y/N) had been by Helaena’s side throughout her pregnancy, knowing how troubling it had been for the princess of merely four-and-ten years and her reservations around her marriage to her elder brother. She had been the only one who would not only listen to but enjoy her facts about bugs, visions, and dreams - often sharing her own.
“Oh, I do hope she is okay,” (Y/N), although excited, was still concerned for her dear friend’s wellbeing, “I know she was rather nervous.”
Alicent caught up to her in a stride or two and placed a gentle hand on the young girl’s shoulder, “She will be fine, sweetling. She is strong, our Helaena.”
“It is true.” Agreed Aemond, gently taking (Y/N)’s hand in his as they continued to walk.
Alicent smiled warmly at the interaction, dropping her hand and holding it in her other as she lay them in front of her stomach, walking as courteously as ever. Ever since the… incident at Driftmark, Aemond had become more and more reserved, keeping to himself and hiding away in the library. At least he did, until (Y/N) and her father had arrived, the former to serve as Helaena’s companion and the latter to serve on the small council. Slowly, but surely, the two became fast friends, although, Alicent expected it was blossoming into something a little more - she was not blind.
They finally reached Helaena’s and Aegon’s chambers and quietly peaked their heads in as to not wake the newly-made mother, should she find herself resting. A small gasp escaped Alicent’s mouth as she saw the two bundles huddled against her daughter who lay awake and smiling at the sight of her three favourite people.
“Please,” she said in a meek voice, “come in.”
Without needing to be told twice, the three stepped inside and made their way to Helaena’s side. (Y/N) noted Aegon’s absence but refrained from querying upon the matter.
“Are you okay? How are you?” She asked Helaena, brushing a stray piece of platinum hair from her forehead.
Helaena smiled and nodded her head, “I am okay, they are perfect, that’s all that matters.”
“Twins?” Aemond seemed somewhat amazed, “Wow.”
Helaena laughed softly, “Yes, it was not easy.”
Alicent looked down at her daughter with pride, “And their names?” She brushed the back of her hand gently over one of the babe’s cheeks.
“Jaehaerys and Jaehaera.”
(Y/N) beamed and placed a kiss against Helaena’s cheek, “Perfect names for perfect babes.”
Helaena returned the gesture, “Thank you, my dearest friend.”
From that moment forth, Alicent, Aemond, and (Y/N) had all fallen hopelessly in love with the two babes and even more so with the young girl who had birthed them, vowing to do anything for them.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It seems that (Y/N) would grow to regret this vow as she groaned, swinging her legs from her bed and stretching her arms at the sound of a shrill cry from the other side of her chambers, followed by a second only moments later. Although absolutely and entirely exhausted, she couldn’t stop the soft smile that grew on her face as she reached the crib sat beside her bookcase.
“Oh, poor ‘Haerys, what on Earth is the matter?” She cooed, picking up the baby boy who immediately soothed at the sound of (Y/N)’s soft voice and the feeling of her silk nightgown on his skin. Holding him in one arm, (Y/N) then took Jaehaera in the other, who was less willing to calm down.
“Sweet girl, do not cry.” She pressed a kiss to her head and she relented for only a moment before another cry escaped her.
(Y/N) sighed as she reflected on her offer to care for the pair for a while as Helaena rested. Her nurse and midwife had to leave her post for a week or so; (Y/N) had thought this would be a lovely opportunity to spend time with her unofficial niece and nephew, (Helaena had insisted that (Y/N) would be addressed as Aunt when the children learnt to speak). Yet, she was now questioning this offer as she could practically feel the energy drain from her as the day went on.
A knock at the door of her chambers caused her to furrow her brows, yet she knew that the hall’s guard would have intervened if the guest was a danger to her or the royal babes. In a gentle voice so as to not wake a now-sleeping Jaehaerys or further disturb the wailing Jaehaera, she called out a curious, “Enter.”
The door creaked slightly as the lantern beside it flickered at the small draught. She smiled as she recognised the face peering into the room.
“Aemond,” she cocked her head, “what are you doing here?”
“May I come in?” He asked, to which she nodded, “I heard the babe and wanted to check that everything was okay.”
Their rooms were directly besides one and other, at their desperate requests only a moon into the young girl and her father’s arrival, and (Y/N) had completely forgot that Aemond may be disturbed during her care of the twins.
“I am awfully sorry, I didn’t think ab-”
“No, no,” Aemond made his way towards her, sitting on the grand seat besides her and near the slowly dying fireplace, “do not apologise, you are doing a kind thing for my sister, you needn’t be sorry at all.”
She smiled but said nothing, trying to adjust Jaehaera with one arm as she continued to cry, albeit a little quieter. Noticing her lack of free arms, Aemond hesitantly reached out, “Would you like me to take her?”
A look of slight relief graced the girl’s face, “If it would not be too much trouble, I just do not know why she is so restless.”
Carefully, Aemond took the babe and returned to leaning back against the large armchair, Jaehaera now snuggled within his arms - a little warmer now as she was closer to the fire and laid within Aemond’s warm robe. Her cries slowly faded and she closed her eyes, leaning further into her uncle.
“I think she was a little cold, is all.” He whispered, looking down at her with a soft gaze.
(Y/N) stood, the babe still in her arms, and fed the fire a little, just enough to keep it going for the remainder of the night - the little of it that was left, at least. Once satisfied, she moved to sit next to Aemond, also looking down at a now content Jaehaera, the two of them fitting snugly on the chair.
“She is so beautiful.” She whispered, “They both are.” In his slumber, Jaehaerys reached up to take his Aunt’s finger in his palm, which she placed a gentle kiss against with a giggle.
Aemond smirked, “He has you wrapped around his finger.”
“You’re one to speak, she’s enamoured with you, my Prince.” (Y/N) laughed and nodded down at the little babe with her head nuzzled into Aemond’s chest, fast asleep.
He laughed with her, “I suppose so.”
There was a small silence as the four of them sat contently, the crackle of the fire and flutter of curtains against the warm night’s breeze serving to make them aware of their profound exhaustion. With a yawn, (Y/N) subconsciously leant her head against Aemond’s shoulder, as she often did as they sat reading in the library or spoke underneath the trees in the Godswood. A warm blush flushed Aemond’s face as he unintentionally leant into her, too, leading her to hum in comfort.
“The prospect of childbirth, while utterly terrifying, seems so beautiful. I cannot wait.” She confessed in a small voice, only for the four of them to hear.
“Really?” Asked Aemond; most ladies, as far as he was aware, were not so genuinely fond of childbearing. Of course, they recognised it as their duty and an inevitable thing for women of their standing, yet there was a tenderness and excitement in (Y/N)’s voice that was not common amongst the other women of the court - not even his mother.
She nodded with a hum, “Even if I do not marry well, or happily, I will love my children with all my heart.”
He was sure she would, he knew she would, it was just her nature. However, the former part of her words had saddened him. If anyone deserved a happy life, to be loved wholly, it was her. The idea of her being unloved, neglected, or worse troubled him deeply.
“I would not let you marry unhappily, neither would mother. You deserve all the happiness in the world.” He was unsure where such affectionate words had come from, not entirely typical of him as he usually resorted to sarcasm or indirect compliments.
It seems that (Y/N) didn’t note this sudden softness, too wrapped up in her own little bubble of contentedness, her eyes beginning to close as her lack of rest caught up with her.
“I’m only happy when I’m with you.”
Aemond hoped she could not feel the skip in his heart upon her confession. The slight laugh present in her words only made him blush further as she, seemingly, did not understand the gravity of her words. Suddenly, Aemond’s thoughts were flooded of images of her and himself having the life she had spoken of. Until now, he had never had such thoughts, yet the sight of Jaehaerys in her arms and Jaehaera in his, the feeling of her resting against him, and the warmth of her words had him questioning everything. It felt right. They were young, but he knew. He knew this would be the moment he would reflect on in his maturity as he, hopefully, sat alongside her with their own children in their arms. But that would have to wait. Right now, he was more than happy with what was and the prospect of what could be.
The next morning, unsurprisingly, he asked to speak with his mother and (Y/N)’s lord father.

“Hurry up!”
“I’m wearing a dress! I can only run so fast!”
To speed up the young girl, Summer pulled (Y/n) by her skirts towards Bran who was a few feet ahead.
“Remember what your mother said,” Called (Y/n) as she followed behind, “you shouldn’t be climbing.”
Bran turned around and stopped, almost causing (Y/n) to bump into him, “But you’re the fun one.”
“The ‘fun one’?” Laughed (Y/n), allowing Bran to take her hand and lead her towards a tower nearby.
“You always let me do all the fun things, and you’re the nicest to me, and you give Summer extra treats, that’s why he likes you so much.”
Summer nuzzled under (Y/n) skirts and barked affectionately.
“Still,” protested the Rose, “I’d hate for you to hurt yourself.” She placed her hands on either side of his face and tucked his hair behind his ear.
“So, please, Little Lord, don’t do anything stupid. Okay?”
He looked to the ground and pouted, “Okay…”
“Liar.”
“Am not!”
“Are too!”
She whisked him up into her arms and began to tickle him, a flurry of giggles escaping the boy.
“Okay! Okay! I promise.”
“Good.” She placed him back on the floor before turning at the sound of her voice being called.
“I’ll be back in a moment.” She said to Bran as he wandered off, Summer in tow, before making her way to whoever had called her name.
“(Y/n)!”
The owner of the voice had made himself known - her father.
“Yes?” She replied, making her way over.
“Did you speak with Joffrey?” He asked, a hint of excitement in his tone.
“Yes. For a moment. Why do you-”
He cut her off, pulling her around a pillar and away from prying eyes, “The King was talking about you, about rethinking the engagement. He said that Joffrey had tried to sway him.”
(Y/n)’s eyes widened, “Really?”
“Really! Now, you must be careful, continue as you are and-”
“Marcus!” Yelled Robert from across the courtyard, “Hurry up!”
“Coming, Your Grace!” He yelled back, the group prepared for the hunt were waiting patiently for his return.
“When we arrive at King’s Landing, we will secure this engagement, I assure you. I have people within the court willing to help.” Her father began to explain, “As I understand it, you will arrive a day or so before me. A man will be waiting for you - Petyr. You can find him when you get there.”
“Is he to be trusted with such a sensitive task?” She asked.
“No.” Marcus replied bluntly, “But that’s why he’s perfect; he has no loyalties. Use his services wisely.”
“Marcus!”
“I have to go, Little Rose.” He placed a chaste kiss to her head and mounted his horse, “Remember, eat or be eaten.”
She nodded and repeated, “Eat or be eaten.”
Marcus, smiling proudly, began to ride towards the hunting party, “That’s my girl.”
It was only as she turned the corner and made her way back towards the tower that (Y/n)’s smile was wiped off of her face.
“Oh, my Gods!” She gasped and let out a small scream, running as fast as she could towards the small boy currently lying on the ground motionless.
Summer was whimpering and bounded over to (Y/n) jumping up at her and pulling on her dress.
“No, no, no.” (Y/n) gently laid Bran’s head in her lap, not minding the blood slowly soaking her skirts expensive material.
She brushed the hair away from his face and searched for a pulse at his neck, a small breath of relief leaving her as she found one. It would be no use for her to yell for help as they were too far away and she feared leaving him alone. After a moment of contemplation, (Y/n) stood and picked him up, carrying him as carefully as she could. He had grown since she'd last cradled him as she was, but her fear had given her the strength to do so, Summer running ahead of them to alert someone - anyone.
"You'll be okay, My Little Love, don't worry." It was more to calm herself down than the small boy, she wasn't even sure if she could hear him.
"I'm here."

It had been an hour or so and the warmth and alcohol had begun to take its toll on (Y/n), prompting her to rise from her seat. She felt a small tug on her skirts. As she looked down, she was met with the Little Lord’s bashful doe eyes.
“Where are you going?”
She smiled and placed her hand over his, “I’m just taking a walk outside, I’ll be back shortly.”
“But it’s dark! I’ll come with you, you never know, you might be attacked and need a strong knight to fight for you!” He argued, puffing out his chest and making ‘swishing’ motions as if to fight an imaginary attacker.
Giggling, (Y/n) pressed a soft kiss to the boy’s head, “You are precious. But I think I’ll be okay.”
“He makes a fair point.” Spoke a voice from behind them.
Joffrey was stood with a cup raised to his lips, taking a sip before speaking, “Allow me to walk with you, My Lady, I, too, wish to escape the chaos for a moment.”
Sansa watched silently, just as she had done earlier that day, feeling somewhat helpless.
(Y/n) smiled and took his now outstretched hand, nodding in agreement, “Thank you, My Prince.” Joffrey’s face lit up at the name, something that didn’t escape (Y/n)’s notice.
“But what about me?” Pouted Bran.
(Y/n) leant down slightly and smiled, “You can give me a dance, how does that sound? As soon as I return.”
He nodded quickly, his previous grievances gone as soon as they’d appeared, as the Rose and the Prince made their way outside, arms linked.
“You seem to have a little admirer.” He chuckled, leaning over a nearby balcony as (Y/n) giggled.
“Brandon? He’s an angel, I’ve never had a brother but he’s as close as I’ve gotten - Rickon, too.”
Joffrey hummed and nodded, looking over the cold expanse of Winterfell, “I suppose it was him who graced you with such a fine braid?” A smirk was plastered on his face as he gestured to the plait in the girl’s hair.
(Y/n) had forgotten about it and blushed as she remembered, running her hand over it and letting out a small laugh, “Yes, yes it was.”
Joffrey turned to her and took her hair in his hand, playing with the end in a gentle manner, “A true talent.” He laughed, causing her to as well, but she blushed again as he did so.
“Mother tells me you and your father are moving to King’s Landing.” Joffrey was still facing her, maintaining eye contact.
“We are.” She matched his eye contact, determined not to look away first, “I look forward to it.”
Joffrey smirked and took a step closer, “As do I.” He licked his lips and adjusted his stance, “Father says I’m to marry the Stark girl - what’s she like?” He goes to sit down on a nearby ledge, inviting (Y/n) to join him.
She had to be careful; be too glowing about her and it would drive Joffrey further towards Sansa, but be too negative and she would seem bitter and rude and word could get back to Sansa.
“She’s a sweet girl, truly. A very talented seamstress, too. A beauty as I’m sure you’ve acknowledged.”
Joffrey nodded but stayed silence as he could sense she wanted to say more, he leant forwards as if to urge her to do so. From beside him, perched on the ledge, (Y/n) moved closer so she could speak in a more hushed tone, tilting her head - drawing him in.
“But I fear she is too kind - that King’s Landing may be too… opportunistic for such a girl.”
Joffrey narrowed his eyes in interest before looking over the girl beside him, also moving closer, “And you?” He nodded at her, “Will you survive in King’s Landing?”
“My Prince,” She said in a whisper, and he leant forwards in awe, “I will thrive.”
A dark shimmer glassed the blond boy’s eyes and his breath hitched as he slowly leant closer towards her, seemingly overcome by something. Before anything could happen, (Y/n) feigned a sigh, leading Joffrey to pull back slightly and look at her in confusion.
“But I suppose she will make a good wife. You are a lucky man.” She spoke with a saccharine smile.
It seemed that Joffrey had forgotten all about the redhead, a look of disappointment washed over his features.
“Yes, I suppose.” He muttered.
(Y/n) stood and straightened out her skirts and adjusted her bodice, purposely allowing a little extra skin to show for a fleeting moment, not missed by the Prince.
“I ought to go back inside, the Little Lord will be eagerly anticipating his dance.” She giggled.
Joffrey joined her, “Naturally, anyone would jump at the chance to dance with such a Lady. I shall watch with indescribable envy.”
They made their way back inside, arms linked once again. As they did so, Cersei’s eyes followed them, a curious look on her face.
“In that case, My Prince,”
The name made him fold once more.
“I owe you a dance. Redeemable at any time.”
The pair laughed, grabbing Sansa’s attention, who watched with a slight anger, as well as Bran’s, who promptly jumped from his seat and grabbed (Y/n)’s hand, pulling her from the Prince.
“You’ve had long enough!” He exclaimed, making Joffrey raise a brow and glance at (Y/n) in amusement.
The girl gave him an apologetic look before smiling at Bran, “Yes, yes, My Little Love. Let’s dance.”
The pair ran off somewhere while Joffrey re-took his seat.
"Arya!"
Sansa's shrill shriek snapped him from his haze as the two sisters began to bicker. He flickered his gaze between the arguing sisters and (Y/n) laughing and dancing with a significantly shorter Bran and he couldn't help but feel comforted at the sight. It was clear (Y/n) got on with the younger Stark children better than Sansa did, and he wondered whether Sansa liked being around children at all - an issue should they have children of their own. Yet, with (Y/n), even he was wrapped in a sense of comfort and warmth, he had no doubt she would be a fine mother. Perhaps he needed to speak with his father.

"Do you think Joffrey will like me?"
Sansa was currently sat with her mother behind her braiding her hair, getting ready for the feast. (Y/n) was sat by a makeshift vanity not too far away, braiding her own hair and adjusting her outfit. She couldn't help the small pang of jealousy within her at the news of Sansa's potential betrothal to the Prince, not that she voiced this to her friend.
"What if he think's I'm ugly?" The redhead added.
"Then he is the stupidest prince that ever lived." Assured Catelyn as Sansa lifted a mirror up to her face.
"He's so handsome." She gushed, "Even (Y/n) thinks so, and she never thinks anyone is handsome. It's annoying. This is the only time we can talk about a boy."
Catelyn let out a small laugh while (Y/n) shot a glare at her friend, "Well," the woman began, "If (Y/n) thinks so then he must be."
There was a short silence.
"When would we be married? Soon? Or do we have to wait?" Sansa's naivety caused (Y/n) to sigh and giggle to herself as she stood, making her way to the door.
"Lady Stark, I believe my father wishes to speak with me, thank you for your assistance in getting ready." She said in her soft voice, Catelyn returning it with a smile, "Of course, my dear, we'll see you at the feast."
"I'll save you a seat next to me!" Sansa beamed, "Although Bran may insist on sitting beside you, also." She huffed and (Y/n) giggled once again, "Sounds perfect." The Beaumont replied, leaving the room. She could still hear Sansa's pleas through the door while she made her way to her father's temporary chambers.
Finally reaching said chambers, she rapped on the door and waited for his permission to enter. Upon getting it, she opened the door and immediately noticed her father's agitated expression.
"Father? What's troubling you?" She asked, concerned.
He looked conflicted, deciding whether or not to tell his daughter of his worries.
"You know I want you to have everything, right? You deserve nothing but the best."
(Y/n) nodded, still confused.
"But sometimes, we have to fight for what we deserve, in ways that aren't favourable."
Cutting her father off, (Y/n) placed a hand on his arm, "What are you trying to say?"
He took a deep breath, "You should be betrothed to Joffrey, not Sansa."
"What?"
"You should be Queen. You are destined for it. I just know it."
(Y/n) blinked rapidly, trying to process everything, "But what if I-"
Marcus took his daughters face in his hands, "I. Know. It." He looked into her eyes, "Take what you deserve. Do you want to be the prey? Or the hunter? If you let Sansa take this from you - should she need to, she will dispose of you, she will use you, she will ruin you. Do you want to be ruined or do the ruining? Be used or use? You must do the disposing, otherwise you will be eaten, swallowed, engulfed by King's Landing."
(Y/n) felt a burning sensation in her chest, one of equal parts fear and determination.
"Is that what you want?"
She paused before speaking in a steady voice, "No."
"So," Her father stepped back, straightening his clothing and adjusting the sword on his hip, "What are you going to do about it?"
His daughter matched his fierce gaze and stood tall, "I'm going to take what I deserve."

The feast was alive with laughter and warmth, music permeating the room with even more joy, not a single scowl in sight, aside from the one sullying the face of the Queen as she watched her husband flounce about unabashedly with the many women of the hall. (Y/n), as promised, was sat in between Sansa and the Little Lord, who was currently, very kindly, 'fixing' one of her braids - which, in his mind, was just an excuse for him to touch her soft hair and avoid having to talk to people he didn’t know; a win-win situation.
"There you go!" He said happily, gently resting the braid over her shoulder.
"Thank you, my little love." Grinned (Y/n), allowing Bran a sneaky sip of her wine in thanks, causing a wide smile to grace his face.
Sansa spoke up, "You shouldn't let him drink." She reprimanded, but (Y/n) only laughed, "Let the boy live a little, you never know when your life could end, so why shouldn't we indulge in life's gifts? Wine being a rather significant one." She giggled, the alcohol taking a toll on her humour and temperament for the better.
"Here, here, Beaumont!" Robert bellowed from behind them, patting Bran rather hard on the back, causing the small boy to splutter and cough as he tried to take a large gulp of (Y/n)'s wine. She rubbed his back soothingly whilst holding back a laugh.
"Come," Said Sansa, grabbing her friend's hand and standing, "Let's introduce ourselves to the Queen!"
They made their way over to the head table, standing in front of Cersei with Catelyn on her right.
"Hello, Little Dove." Said Cersei as Sansa stood into view, the redhead smiled at her excitedly.
(Y/n), who had been checking on Bran for a moment, followed close behind, causing Cersei to cock her head and smile once again, "And you, My Angel, I've been meaning to catch you." She leant forwards and took (Y/n)'s hand in her's, "How is your mother? I do miss her dearly."
"She's wonderful, Your Grace, and she misses you more, I'm sure."
"You are such the image of her; a true beauty." Cersei turned to Sansa, "As are you, Little Dove."
Sansa looked at (Y/n) before smiling in thanks at the Queen.
"How old are you?" The Queen asked the Stark girl.
"Thirteen, Your Grace."
"And you, Angel?"
“Fourteen, almost fifteen.” (Y/n) smiled.
Cersei nodded before looking to Sansa once more, “Have you bled yet?”
Sansa became immediately flustered, shooting a look to her mother for support before shaking her head, “No, Your Grace.”
(Y/n) knew why Cersei had asked, she was well aware of the ‘requirements’ of a woman to marry. She reflected upon what her father had said, perhaps this was an opportunity, but she needed to be subtle.
“A blessing in disguise, I assure you, Sansa.” She laughed and gently brushed a hand on her friend’s arm, “Bleeding once a moon is no fun to a young woman, I find myself ailed with it terribly most moons.”
Cersei’s gaze shifted and the corner of her lips quirked upwards briefly, “You bleed, My Angel?”
“Oh, yes, My Grace.” Affirmed (Y/n), also carefully adjusting the way she addressed the Queen in a more affectionate way, “As troublesome as it may be, it allows for the greatest gift a woman can give, a child is more precious than anything.”
A twinkle of familiarity found its way into the Queen’s eye as she smiled, “Indeed.” She thought for a moment, “Would you like children?”
“Of course, My Grace.” (Y/n) answered in a way to imply such a fact was obvious, “I hope to be the mother of warriors, of lords, and knights - nothing less.”
She could feel Sansa’s gaze into the side of her head, but she kept her gaze steady on the Queen opposite her.
Cersei narrowed her eyes and smirked, “What about more than that?”
(Y/n) furrowed her brows, “More?”
“Kings. Would you mother Kings, if you could?”
(Y/n) wondered if this may be a test of loyalty, would she mother Kings only to threaten the crown? Or was Cersei exploring other possible paths for her sons. Due to the glimmer in the Queen’s eye and doting smile, the Beaumont girl took a gamble and assumed the latter.
“It would be an honour.”
There was a silence, tense but promising for (Y/n), fearful for Sansa and Catelyn, and intriguing for Cersei.
Eventually, she returned her attention to Sansa, “Your dress, did you make it?”
Sansa nodded enthusiastically and Cersei smiled, “Such a talent. You must make something for me.”
With a curt nod, Sansa left the table, yet (Y/n) stayed behind momentarily as Cersei called out to her.
"Do give your mother my love."
"I will, My Grace."
And with that, just as her friend had done, (Y/n) left the table, a smirk growing on her face. She had entered The Game.
“Do give your mother my love.”

“Sansa!”
"(Y/n/n)!"
The two girls practically ran into each other's arms as they spun around, making Catelyn laugh and smile happily at the two.
"Your hair is so much longer!" Sansa weaved her finger's through her friend's hair in awe.
"But you're taller!" Grinned (Y/n).
"Well, you're even prettier than before." Assured Sansa, (Y/n) replying the exact same, yet Sansa held a tone of sadness in her compliment.
"Now, now girls, you're both pretty. But what about me?" Said Jon from behind the two.
"Jon! My, how old you look!" Teased (Y/n), hugging him.
Jon laughed and ruffled her hair, much to her distaste as she muttered an 'ugh' and tried to fix her beautifully half-braided hair. He and Robb laughed, giving her a nod of goodbye before wandering off, making her smile.
"Oh," she suddenly remembered, snapping Sansa out of her contemplative state, "I got a new horse, oh you must meet her, her name is Juniper."
"Like our mouse!" Laughed Sansa, remembering how, when they were younger, the two had once found a baby mouse hidden in one of the stables, promptly agreeing to name it Juniper, "Of course!" Replied (Y/n), grabbing Sansa's hand and leading her over to the white beauty only a few steps away.
"Wow..." Remarked Sansa in awe as she reached out to stroke her mane, "She's beautiful."
"She is, isn't she." Said a smooth voice from next to them - it was Joffrey. However, as he spoke, he wasn't looking at the horse, rather, he was looking at (Y/n), a smirk on his lips. She blushed and tilted her head away, fighting a smile.
"My Lord!" Said Sansa, curtseying as if she'd been caught off guard.
Joffrey glanced at her a moment before looking back at (Y/n), who slowly joined her friend in a curtsy. As she did so, Joffrey had slipped his gloved hand into her own and placed a gentle kiss to her knuckle, "I don't believe we've met before, have we, Lady (Y/n)?"
"No, My Lord, I believe not." Replied the rose in a soft voice, looking at him the whole time.
Sansa watched the interaction unfold with a nervous breath, feeling somewhat as if she were intruding. Joffrey, upon remembering her presence, slowly dropped (Y/n)'s hand and picked up Sansa's own, yet not with as much care as he had done to her friend's.
"Lady Sansa." He said curtly, placing a swift kiss to her hand instead, making her frown slightly, before then dropping hers. Joffrey looked between the two and then settled his eyes once more on the Beaumont girl, "I'll see you," he stopped and added, "you two," before continuing, "at the feast tonight?"
"You will, My Lord." Grinned Sansa.
"You will." Said (Y/n) after, much calmer, and with that, Joffrey left with a nod to each girl.
Sansa snapped her head towards her friend with giddy delight, "Oh! He's so handsome, don't you think?"
"I suppose so, yes." Smirked (Y/n), feeding her horse an apple she had stashed away in her bag.
"Do you think he think's I'm pretty?" Sansa almost muttered to herself, eyes trailing the prince who was now talking to someone else.
(Y/n) faced the red-head and gently held her shoulders, "Sansa, you are, in my humble and expert opinion, the second most beautiful girl in the whole of The Seven Kingdoms."
Sansa, who had initially smiled, had dropped it and cocked her head to the side, "Who's the first?"
(Y/n) grinned, "Me, of course." She said dramatically before flicking her hair and sighing.
Sansa let out a laugh and the two fell into a fit of giggles before (Y/n) spoke once more, adopting a more serious tone, "Sansa, you are the most beautiful girl I know, please never question it again, otherwise I will personally take offence."
"Okay, okay." Sansa smiled and rolled her eyes, "We wouldn't want that now, would we?"
They laughed once again before making their way up to Sansa's room to get ready for the night's feast.
--------------------
Ned, Marcus, and Robert were walking beneath the others and strolling through the crypt and attempting to make conversation.
“Tell me about Jon Arryn.” Said Ned, causing Marcus to raise a brow at his bluntness.
“One minute he was fine and then…” began Robert, “burned right through him, whatever it was. I loved that man.” He looked between the two men besides him, “We all did.”
It was true, Marcus had held Jon Arryn in the highest regard, he’d even considered offering a marriage proposal between his daughter and Jon’s son, Robin, but Jon’s untimely death threatened the Vale’s security and therefore the potential security of the Beaumonts. Marcus couldn’t risk that. But with the continued struggle to find his daughter a suitor, it may be his last hope.
“He never had to teach you two much, but me - you remember me at sixteen?” Asked the King, prompting the men to laugh, “All I wanted to do was crack skulls and fuck girls. He showed me what was what.”
“Aye.” Agreed Ned.
Robert gave him a side-eye, “Don’t look at me like that. It’s not his fault I didn’t listen.”
After another laugh, the three men fell silent for a short moment before Robert spoke again, stopping to face Ned with Marcus watching intently.
“I need you, Ned. Down at King’s Landing, Not up here where you’re no damn use to anybody.”
Ned looked down and opened his mouth as if to speak only to be interrupted by Robert, “Lord Eddard Stark, I would name you The Hand of The King.”
The Lord fell to his knee and bowed his head, making Marcus discreetly roll his eyes.
“I am not worthy of the honour.” He sighed.
Robert smirked, "I'm not trying to honour you, I'm trying to get you to run my kingdom while I eat, drink, and whore my way to an early grave." He leaned forwards and tapped Ned's shoulder, "Damn it, Ned, stand up." He did so, "You helped me win the Iron Throne, now help me keep the damn thing. And Marcus," He turned to his second friend, "I want you down at King's Landing, you and your family. I need you, too; we were all meant to rule together." He turned once more to Ned, "If your sister had lived, we'd have been bound by blood. Well, it's not too late."
Marcus's head shot up at that, now far more interested. He knew what was to be asked, and he needed it to go according to his plan. Robert hesitated slightly before looking between the two men, "I have a son, you have a daughter." He looked to Marcus, "As do you." Marcus held a glimmer in his eyes.
Robert decidedly turned to Ned, "We'll join our houses."
Marcus inwardly cursed, deciding he'd have to work harder at this than he'd initially thought. Ned, somewhat noting the change in mood, turned to face the ex-general with a dumbfounded look on his face. Robert had since turned and began to leave, Marcus following shortly with Ned soon on their tails.

2 | Arrival At Winterfell

After weeks of travelling, the end was in sight. It was true, (Y/n) did, indeed, despise the cold; she hated its bitter chill and unforgiving persistence, she hated the association with winter - famine, loss, and isolation. Yet, she loved her friend. A friend she hadn't seen in a long time. With each mile they rode, (Y/n)'s smile grew more and more.
"Why are you so smiley?" Her father asked, amused.
She beamed at him with a glint in her eye, "Just excited is all."
Marcus nodded in understanding, "I suppose I am as well, I haven't seen Robert since before you were born." He shifted his seating on his shiny, beautiful yet rugged black horse, "And Cersei, your mother misses her terribly, they were awfully good friends."
"Friends?" Asked (Y/n) with a smile on her face, "Mother isn't exactly the 'friends' type."
"Neither is her grace."
They both giggled to themselves and continued on, nuzzling into their furs as the air grew frostier and the ground whiter. Had (Y/n) not been riding her horse, Juniper, she'd have lost her in the snow as her white mane, preened to perfection and braided with a black bow, began to blend in with the flurry of snow surrounding them. Soon enough, Winterfell was in view, and (Y/n) smiled once again.
-------------------------------------
It seems, however, that they arrived later than expected as Marcus's horse whinnied, stopping at the sight of the gates as well as a crowd of people, horses and carriages. (Y/n) remained slightly behind her father, hood still pulled up as a fight against the cold.
"Ah! Marcus, here at last!" Robert bellowed from his position just beside Ned, "How dare you keep your king waiting!" He jested with a hearty laugh, opening up his arms for her father to embrace.
Marcus returned the laugh and dismounted, embracing his friend.
"It's been far too long, far too long, indeed." Robert sighed into the hug before patting the ex-general on the back and turning to Ned. "And when was the last time you two saw each other, eh?" He laughed once again.
(Y/n) assumed he must be a very humoured man. She liked him. Peering around her horse, she spotted a certain red-headed girl gazing off somewhere. Following her eye line, she was met with a young boy, most likely around her age, wrapped in expensive furs with the bluest eyes she thought she'd ever seen as well as golden blond hair, paired with a smirk. She also noticed a faint blush on Sansa's cheeks, making (Y/n) giggle. As if she had felt eyes on her, Sansa turned towards (Y/n) and her eyes widened, a smile blossoming on her face, she waved frantically, catching the attention of her younger brother.
"(Y/n/n)!" Gasped Bran, breaking away from his place in the line to run towards the girl, who had now dismounted her horse.
She giggled once again and bent down slightly, waiting for an over-excited Bran to jump into her arms, which he, of course, did. Despite her only being five or so years older than him and him also having grown significantly since they last saw each other, (Y/n) propped him on her hip as he wrapped his arms around her neck.
"Hello, little man! Oh, how I've missed you." She laughed once again, drawing the attention of the crowd.
The king's party all cocked an eyebrow at her, Cersei furrowed her brows in search of the young girl still stood away from her view, and the king himself had turned his attention away from her father and now to the youngest Beaumont.
"And who might you be?" He asked, slightly confused.
As though she had only just remembered her present company, (Y/n) gently placed Bran back onto the floor before emerging from behind her horse and pulling down her hood, "(Y/n) Beaumont, Marcus's daughter, Your Grace." She tried to fight the blush on her cheeks as she curtseyed lower than usual, as if to try and make up for her rude introduction. Cersei noticed this with an approving half-smile, "Forgive me, Your Graces, I have been anticipating my reunion with the Starks the whole journey long, I grew over-excited, it seems." A small laugh escaped her at the end, matched by the king.
"It's quite alright my dear. Come," He gestured for her to come over, "I had no idea you had a daughter, Marcus. I thought-"
"Turns out they were wrong, Alina fell pregnant and we've since been blessed with our miracle, out little rose." Marcus smiled at his daughter affectionately.
"She sure is a beauty, a true rose indeed." Robert complimented, sending the young girl a warm smile, "She will make a fine lady, make a man very happy, indeed." The men laughed and (Y/n) half-curtseyed in thanks, "Say, how old is she, Marcus, she can't have been born prior to your abandoning me." Robert added, jesting once again.
"My rose has seen 14 fruitful years, her 15th approaches soon." Marcus now has a different look in his eye - subtle, but (Y/n) notices it.
"Say, she can't be much younger than my eldest then." Robert turns towards the boy (Y/n) had seen Sansa gazing at earlier.
Now that his father had moved, the boy could see (Y/n) much clearer now. She noticed his eyes widen softly as she locked eyes with him, followed by him puffing out his chest and gripping his reigns tighter after a small hitch in his breath, "Joffrey Baratheon, M'Lady." He said and bowed his head curtly.
"(Y/n) Beaumont, My Lord." She replied and curtseyed once more, gazing up at him throughout.
A smirk ghosted his face as he averted their eye contact first, instead trailing his eyes anywhere else as he re-situated himself on his horse. Out of the corner of her eye, (Y/n) noticed Sansa dip her head slightly with an odd look on her face, yet she decided to ignore it. Robert, noting the interaction between (Y/n) and his son hummed, as if thinking to himself, "Yes, yes, well-" he cleared his throat, eyes lingering on (Y/n) before breaking away again to the two men beside him, "Ned and I were just about to visit the crypt, come along, we've lots to talk about."
Marcus nodded before kissing his daughter's head, giving her an odd look, the same one he'd adopted only moments ago, "I'll speak with you soon, hm?"
She nodded and placed a kiss on his cheek. He gave her one last smile before leaving with Ned and the king, leaving (Y/n) time to finally reunite with her friend.

A/n: Sorry, this one’s more of an introduction <3

————————
The sheets were soft and the sun high, shunning the previous chill of the night prior. A mixture of the songbirds and pure excitement awoke (Y/n) from her slumber, her halo of hair arising with her as she stood up from her bed and stretched with a soft hum. Her eyes were weary but bright and her body tired but alive with a fire of anticipation.
Her family, the Beaumonts, had been invited to join the King on a visit to Winterfell. Her father and King Robert had been the best of friends since their youth, hunting together, drinking together, and fighting side by side, creating an inseparable bond. Marcus Beaumont was a general, the highest of his kind, but had recently been dismissed due to his declining health, but the respect he had earned throughout the Seven Kingdoms would never decay, he had saved thousands and commanded victorious armies - he had never lost.
It had been years since the two had seen each other, 15 to be exact. Marcus had to return to the city of Adonis, just north of Riverrun, and leave his station at King's Landing as his wife, Alina, had just given birth to their one and only child, their daughter, their miracle; (Y/n). Being in one of the most notable families throughout the Seven Kingdoms meant their was immense pressure for an heir, even just a daughter, and finally that child had arrived.
He served within their city up until his dismissal, devoting his life to the cause. The city of Adonis had been remarked as one of the most beautiful in the whole of Westeros - the heartland of the Beaumont family. People were happy, flourishing, and fed and (Y/n) truly loved nowhere else more than her home. She feared travelling from sunny Adonis to chilled Winterfell would prove unwelcome for her, but she was willing to try.
"Father! What time are we to leave?" She asked, fluttering through her wardrobe to find her preferred dress.
Her handmaidens always insisted they ought to organise her clothing, but they had horrible taste and she trusted no one's sense but her own. The rest of her clothes were packed, by her own doing, of course.
"By noon, is everything ready?" Her father replied, asking the second part to a nearby maiden. The woman nodded hurriedly before she then retreated to (Y/n)'s room to begin lacing her into her dress and braiding her hair.
"Is this tight enough, my Lady?" She asked nervously.
(Y/n) huffed and looked in the mirror, turning left and right, "Yes, it is fine."
The handmaiden fiddled with her hands nervously, catching her Lady's eye.
"You're so very nervous." She then turned to the woman behind her, "Don't be, it makes me anxious."
"Sorry, M'Lady."
(Y/n) looked at her for a moment before waving her hand and sighing, "That will be all."
With a curtsy, the woman left, leaving (Y/n) to herself. After a few moments, there was a short knock on the door, "Yes?" She asked.
The door opened to reveal her mother, stood with her hands wrapped around something with a smile on her face. (Y/n) looked at her suspiciously before sitting on the edge of her bed, gesturing for her mother to join her.
"I shall miss you, my rose."
"And I, you, mother." She placed a hand over her mother's, "We won't be gone for too long."
Alina held a brief look in her eye, as if she knew something her daughter didn't, but hid it with her another smile. She unfolded her hands and used one to cover (Y/n)'s eyes, making her giggle.
"I have a present for you, open your palm."
The young girl complied and she felt the sharp cold of metal against her skin as chains gathered in her hand.
"Open."
A small gasp left the girl's mouth at the sight of the necklace; a red jewel had been encased in a chain of gold, wrapping around it like vines as it gracefully shone in the morning's light, "It's beautiful, mother." She complimented, quickly moving to put it on. It sat perfectly between the valley of her chest and draped across her collarbone.
In a moment of sentiment, she hugged her mother tightly, "Thank you."
There was a moment's silence before her mother spoke up, "I really will miss you." She pulled away and held her daughter's face in her palms, "You are destined for great things, little rose. I can feel it."
(Y/n) smiled, "I hope so."
Her mother wiped away a stray tear before standing up, "Right," she said, "off with you, you're father is waiting rather impatiently downstairs."
The young girl nodded and gestured for a maiden to take her belongings downstairs to be sorted for travel.
"Write to me?"
"Of course."
Her father's voice travelled loudly from down the hall, "(Y/n)!"
"Coming!" She replied, picking up her skirts and pressing a soft kiss to her mother's cheek before leaving.
Her father was stood at the end of the hall, by the stairs, tapping his foot impatiently, "Oh, there she is, her highness awakes." He snips sarcastically, making his daughter roll her eyes and push past him to go down the stairs. He smirked and followed behind her, making their way out towards the horses.
"Will Sansa be there?" Asked (Y/n), getting onto her horse.
"Of course, doll."
The nickname had stuck since childhood; he often recalled being afraid to touch her as a baby, scared she would break as if she were porcelain.
The nickname had stuck since childhood; he often recalled being afraid to touch her as a baby, scared she would break as if she were porcelain.
"Oh I am glad." She beamed as they began to depart, "I haven't seen her for so long, I wonder if she's missed me, do you think she'll be happy to see me?"
"I'm sure she will be, doll." Her father glanced at her with the same 'knowing' look her mother had, "I'm sure she will be."
And with that, they left for Winterfell.
