Incredibly specific moments in atla i think about ALL the time (i am Not normal)

Zuko's eyes slightly widening when witnessing Katara's bloodbending for the first time

Aang and Katara just missing each other looking back at the other after their argument in The Warriors of Kyoshi

Toph holding onto Sokka's arm once on Appa when he didn't have a saddle and once on the boat bringing them to the lake town

The moon being in full view as Suki tries to kiss Sokka in the Serpent's Pass, and the shadow returning as Sokka leaves

The "four seasons for love" motif coming back throughout the episodes of the Northern Watertribe and specifically as Sokka gives himself up to serve in the battle against Zhao's seige and Yue turns away and quietly cries as she watches him walk off

Longshot talking for the first time ever as Jet lay dying

In that same breath, the way Toph says "he's lying" as they walk away from Jet knowing that he's going to die

Aang looking back at the Southern Airtemple ruins along with Momo as they fly away from it, seeing it disappear behind the clouds (this one specifically makes me cry so much)

The chants as Aang gets summoned by the Lion Turtle in book 3 being the SAME as the chants when Aang fuses with the ocean spirit in book 1 (there's other moments with these chants i think but i can't remember them off the top of my head)

Aang taking down Ozai's airship in the finale as his first attack and Sokka cheering him on like a proud older brother

Katara immediately without a shadow of a doubt responding "Aang won't lose" when Zuko questions if he'll be able to take on Ozai

Aang knowing Zuko was gonna fire at him in the crystal catacombs as soon as Zuko laid eyes on him (he gasped before Zuko even made a move) when even Azula wasn't sure what Zuko was gonna do in that scenario

my initial reaction to this new princess zeisan character was just to say her design was weird but honestly the problems with her design don't bode well for her writing. like already the premise of "fire nation royalty joins the air nomads" is kinda weird bc someone from a nation's royal family is probably one of the people LEAST able to break free from the propaganda. like it only happened to iroh and zuko because of major life-changing events (losing lu ten & being banished) and you wouldn't include their transformations in a short description of their characters bc iroh's is slowly revealed and zuko's happens over the course of the story. and her design is just an air nomad necklace and sash on top of a fire nation royal outfit so like...where's the transformation? and how are zuko and iroh notable for breaking free if someone barely two generations earlier was able to?

like are we supposed to believe everything was totally chill between the fire nation and the air nomads before the sozin's comet genocide? bc that's not how genocide works. how could sozin have justified sending all those soldiers to the air temples if there wasn't already a concerted anti-air nomad propaganda effort in the fire nation? not all fire nation citizens bought into it obviously (kuzon) but a member of the royal family? a member of the royal family wearing the whole fucking shoulderpads and hairpiece get-up? where's the treason haircut? the rags from living among the people for years unlearning what she was raised with? the visual reflection of her turning her back on her culture?

creating a new character that's an existing character's previously-unmentioned sibling is already hokey and fanfiction-y, having her be the air nomad convert sister of the Guy Who Committed Genocide Against The Air Nomads strains believability, and the laziness of her design means that i have little faith in her writers' ability to make anything good out of this

I mean, fandom is connected to autism in the same way that like, trains and computers are. It's a stereotype and definitely not true that it inherently has any part in autism on an individual level, but it is true that you're very likely to find autistic people who are into it. And those people don't deserve to be discounted or treated like living stereotypes instead of people. And the autistic contribution to fandom is undeniable.

And yeah, there's at least a tinge of ableism in the complaints about cringe fandom weirdos in the same way there is with the same responses to computer nerds or trainspotters or whatever. You're attacking people for being too into something, being too specific with their interests, being too weird about it. None of that automatically makes someone autistic, but it is a huge part of autism. And I'd appreciate it if people could just clarify that special interests aren't always fandom stuff without veering into the territory of just desperately separating themselves from "fandom freaks".

Azula Week 2022 | Day 5: Power "You and my flames look really handsome today. I wonder why."

Azula should be the same age as she is in the OG series because it's comet day, but I kind of made her look younger? I think it would make sense in this AU since there is no war. She didn't have to grow up as fast. Didn't have to appear older so no one could belittle her. No, this isn't an excuse for being lazy and not redrawing it. Not at all.

Fun fact: The flaming chicken is supposed to called something that means "pre-dawn comet" because they met at pre-dawn and Azula thought she saw a comet falling. But I'm not familiar with Chinese naming conventions so I just stuck with a one character name "孛(bèi)" for comet. This might not be even correct lol. I'm also not sure if it even matters since I dunno if I'll revisit this AU in the future.
