To put my opinion: I hate the writing in phase 7. They took away most of 2Ds interesting features. We rarely got to see any of his edgy side anymore like in phase 2 and such. There were barely to not a single mention of his painkiller addiction at all! Noodles still had barely a thing to do, Russel was fine I guess, and Murdoc? Lord I know he’s trying to become a better person but that shouldn’t have happened as fast as it did and 2D shouldn’t have been so forgiving. The lost chord did that character development perfectly, but there is NOWAY murdoc can change THAT fast. Also the 3D animation style. It’s just not Gorillaz. Hopefully they bring back the 2D style for the rest of the phases because it just doesn’t fit them. But overall, what I hate the most if definently 2D writing. Sure, you can defend it by saying “He’s healing!” If he was healing he should have become more mature. He should have become more adult-like instead of going into this “I’m a fanonized baby who is so inoccent!” That’s not 2D. 2D has had edgy sides to him in MOST phases, I mean look at Phase 2, Phase 3, and The Now Now (idk what phase that is). I miss that 2D. That was 2D.

Ello, it's that 2D back again to kind of elaborate on what I've previously said because I realized after that I sound rather vague about the whole ordeal. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why the newer Gorillaz lore, just "phase 7" in general makes me feel so dubious, but it feels like we're all out of character somehow, and kind of like our characters/writing have gone backwards. Does that make sense?

And not to sound like it's all about me but a lot of my complaints are directed toward just my characterization. What happened to my having a personality besides being an airhead and having to rely on Murdoc for everything? I might be stupid but I can fend for myself. I'm a 45 year old man now guys. You can only do the "uwu dumb baby who can't do anything right" shtick for so long and I frankly thought we were over it, not to mention I thought it would never actually reach canon content and it would only affect my fanon presence. Russel and Noodle feel like such flat characters now; it feels like they're never sure how to write Noodle so she has a million different archetypes they cycle through, and they've gone back to relying on Russel's connection to the supernatural to define his entire character. I mean, he talks even less now, and that is saying A LOT because he's never had a lot of screentime.

And another weird thing is - it's Gorillaz. The lore has been much darker than just a cult subplot before. But why am I so weirded out by the whole Last Cult stuff??? It just feels so wrong and like something that would never happen to us.

I think what I'm trying to say is that the writing has taken a nosedive for the worst since Murdoc got out of jail ( no offense to Mudz, love him, not his fault ). Stresses me out a ton.

Sorry about the awfully long post. I'm feeling a little ranty at the moment. Anyway, I wonder if any others feel the same about the whole thing, like it feels weird or out of character for us. Sincerely 2D. Going to sign off with that tea emoji again so you know I'm the same 2D that sent the first thing in. ☕!

2D/Stu-pot S/o Headcanons!!

These will not contain any NSFW.

- 2D and his s/o will walk through the park together often and play around

- he enjoys going to cities and looking at all the buildings and water structures like sprinklers with s/o

- He definitely loves holding hands and cuddling
