The takeaway I got from that situation was actually that Shuro never knew Falin. Both Touden siblings learned to mask early and well, but Laios liked Shuro and thus inflicted his true personality on him. Marcille wasn't surprised that Falin was enthusiastic about the monster food thing, but Shuro seemed to think of Falin as the party's quiet, graceful healer who always soothed tempers when her brother put his foot in his mouth. Which says to me she thought of him as "coworker" and "brother's friend" and ignored him otherwise. And that would still be a treatment that he'd project all sort of nonsense into, considering unlike her brother Falin doesn't hate people and is generally affectionate. If she hugged Senshi despite having only met him once I don't doubt she did the same to her party, which was composed of Chilchuck (who would look like a child to Shuro), two women (look me in the eye and tell me that Shuro knows what lesbians are) and her brother.
Something something the thing Shuro hates most about Laios is a flaw they share something something.
One of those going-over-the-fandom's-head memes about Shuro Dungeonmeshi being hopelessly infatuated with Falin and loathing Laios even though they have basically identical personalities where the direct takeaway is "lol, Shuro is dumb" and the part going over the reader's head is "people decide whether your autistic traits are charming quirks or red flags based on whether they find you fuckable".

This one is arguably very personal because I have no idea if other aros feel the same – but I've seen too many stories about a character being rejected where the person doing the rejecting is (accidentally or not) implied to be some sort of "bad guy" or "the one who has it easier", so I guess I had an itch to show my side.
Aromantic people and alloromantic people have such different views on what "true love" is that it's not about one or the other being "in the wrong" – it's just one big compatibility issue. All I can say is – as an aromantic, being confessed to romantically IS what leaves me heartbroken, for such reasons. Hopefully there will be a broader understanding of this in the future.

4.5/5 ⭐: A trope -twisting story about boundaries, friendship, and respect
I've reviewed several books by Lynette now and she's continuing to write great fantasy protagonists that scrutinize the standards of their genre. Definitely check out this book if you want some side -character love and urban fantasy shenanigans! You can read the full review on my blog.

I know you have all probably seen the esims for gaza posts circulating. Some of you have probably looked at them and thought maybe you should help out, but have weighed up the daunting process of signing up for something you're unfamiliar with vs. the gut-wrenching scale of the things people are going through on the ground right now, and you've put it off or questioned whether it will make enough of a difference vs. some other future kind of activism you could put that $6+ towards. I'm not calling you out or scolding you, it is natural to feel conflicted and ambivalent about the multiple calls for aid that you are seeing on social media.
but consider this: what would you do if you suddenly had to leave your home? how would you cope? how would you begin to plan where to go next, or figure out what to do to take care of yourself? most likely you would reach reflexively for your phone.
telecoms access is not a petty luxury in 2024. a loaded esim means the ability to call family members and find out where they are and whether they're safe, and whether they need anything you can provide for them. it means access to maps and regular updates on the situation unfolding around you. it means you can look up whether it's safe to drink rain water, or how to tie a type of knot you've never had to think about before, or how to treat an injury without medical supplies. it means the ability to tell people outside the situation what you are seeing, what you are feeling, what you are thinking. it is an absolutely crucial resource. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.
many many people have observed that internet access is changing the way the world understands genocide. internet access is life or death, and it is shaping modern history in front of you. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.
please, please visit gazaesims.com and spend 5 minutes and $6 to change the way this plays out for everyone.

Can you imagine if their students were also there?
Itadori, looking between Gojo-sensei (senseis?) and Gojo-Satoru-of-this-dimension: " ...Actually, Geto-sensei, I take it back, I don't want to know if that's your girlfriend"
Nobara, who has already worked out that the reason their sensei puts effort into his (their?) appearence is NOT because Shiki is particularly feminine: "Speak for yourself, I do want to know. Spill, sensei"
Geto: *smug smile*
(3) Also incredibly hilarious (yes, I am a heathen that will turn even the angstiest of AUs into crack) is the concept of the twin cannons conversing with their JJK counterparts. Canon Satoru's takeaway from the whole affair (apart from "Did I have a twin sister that got quietly murdered at birth and didn't stick around as a curse?") is "Out of all the ways I imagined I could have done things differently and kept Suguru by my side somehow seduction never occurred to me as a possibility"
I think it would be absolutely hilarious if, like. Twins AU Satoru shows up in canon-verse, and everyone is shocked. They're used to Satoru waltzing around in that unflattering high-collar jacket and with his hair sticking up like some dandelion tuft and blindfold. Who is this man with designer sunglasses and a low-cut shirt showing off his collarbones and looking like some sort of off-duty model??
Twins AU Satoru/Shiki, who actually put effort into their appearance for their Suguru: Uhhhh

...Nah, he would just be utterly mortified and wondering how / why those two intimidating and beautiful girls decided he's their one. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
But it's a hilarious mental image, because those are three out of four Special Grade Sorcerers in a threesome with a Special Grade Curse (and if Mai is dead / was never born / Maki and Mai's Heavenly Restriction met Shiki's blade), the unofficial fourth Special Grade Sorcerer who nobody will acknowledge as such because recognizing that way someone with no Cursed Energy would be an outrage.
LOL can you imagine the side-eyes Yuki Tsukumo and Aoi Todo would get.
sdklfneslfne I just remembered that Yuki and Choso got ship teased in canon. Choso is technically a Death Painting, but definetely close enough to Special Grade Curse for jujutsu society to make conspiracy theories.
(2) That combination is especially hilarious because if things proceeded as more-or-less canon and Yuta got ship-teased with Maki everyone would be relieved -thank FUCK he's not continuing that betrothal business with a Special Grade curse- except for Satoru and Shiki -who wouldn't care- and Noted Monsterfucker Geto Suguru, who would be AGHAST: You are cheating on her?! Yuta, who doesn't know where to even BEGIN unpacking that: Uhhhh
(1) I thought I loved zenith of stars, then came to your tumblr and suffered Terminal Brainrot for the twin au. Especially the combination of "Satoru and Shiki can sometimes fight together, but it involves unfortunate amounts of body horror" with "Geto Suguru may or may not be dating both of them, it's fine, everything's fine, he is a Mature and Responsible adult who can weather a sexuality crisis with only a bit of whining to Shoko" with "Yuta is both of their student".
.
.
Glad you're enjoying the twins AU haha
I think Geto's reaction wouldn't necessarily be 'why are you cheating on Rika,' but he would definitely check in on them. Then maybe he discovers that there's actually Yuta/Maki/Rika going on!
... I guess there's actually some truth to canon-Geto calling Yuta a womanizer in this case lol

Thing is, people with truly altruistic reasons to sell their soul rarely come to the attention of demons in the first place. Every parent with a sick child gets an angel's grace long before the thought of summoning a demon is more than a passing fancy.
No, people like Kiera are the ones who tend to fall through the divine cracks: Alone. Not starving, but not looking forward to a bright future. Brutally aware of their own insignificance.
Angels work tirelessly to keep people from tragedy, but they won't (can't) solve every problem in the world. Their job is to give people just enough opportunity that whether they sink or swim is their choice.
Demons won't (can't) engineer bad situations either. If someone decides there's something they can't (won't) live without even if it costs them their soul, that choice has to be true and free. That's the rule.
Kiera came exactly the same way as most of her predecessors: with a mix of sadness and apathy that made terrible ideas sound appealing, as long as I promised something different.
"What can you give me?", she'd asked. It was a common question.
"Riches beyond compare. The power to see any change you like in the world. Anything you want" It was true, incidentally. Most people believe we twist desires, because they end up regretting them. But we give exactly what they choose. That's the rule.
"Anything I want? Deal" And she'd smiled as she shook my hand.
Unlike her predecessors, she didn't stop smiling the next time she called me.
"I want all the oceans free of plastic"
I looked at her opulent office, from which she'd used untold riches to improve the lives of most of the world's marginalized population. The only reason she wasn't credited with ending poverty entirely was that the census to prove such a thing were still ongoing.
"Your wealth not enough to do it yourself?", I asked, genuinely curious. She just shrugged.
"Probably, if I dedicated a couple of decades to it. I'd like it done faster"
"Understood"
And so it went. Every wish she ever expressed benefitted the world as a whole. Every time someone maligned her for selling her soul she dealt with it by mortal means. As far as I could tell -which wasn't a lot, actually. Her requests kept me busy- without doing permanent or serious harm. The cults in her name were dealt with in a similar manner: by mortal means, and discouraged rather than forced to do as she bid.
If her loneliness ever abated, I never knew it. Most people who sell their souls get avoided by their fellows as soon as they get found out, and Kiera was by far the most obvious mortal who'd ever sold her soul. If she ever intended to use her deal to fulfill a selfish desire or if this was always the plan is something I never knew, either.
She left the world polarized in their opinion of her, and a much better place than she found it. She never tried to demand a longer life.
As the demon who held her soul in my hands, I found this a bit of a conundrum. I remember sitting in my office and exhaling the heaviest sigh I'd let out in centuries. Arguing with heavenly officials was much more onerous than anything Kiera'd ever asked of me. It was, however, a choice I made truly and freely.
“This person sold their soul to you fair and square,” said the incredulous angel to the demon. “Why are you petitioning for them to enter heaven?” “Because after everything they did with what I gave them, they deserve to.”

“The average US president has been charged with 1.54 felonies” factoid isn’t true. The average US President has been charged with 0 felonies. Donald trump, who has been charged with 71, is a statistical outlier and should not have been counted
