My first actual Monster Prom fanart!! I've been getting back into the game for a couple months, and I absolutely adore the dialogue, the characters, all that fun stuff. Wanted to make some fanart of my favorite player character Vicky after being inspired by "Judy You Hung The Moon" by HARBOUR. The song itself also really gives off Monster Roadtrip vibes, methinks.

I'm also really proud of how the cardboard style turned out!! I did something similar with a previous fanart, but instead it was felt. I really wanted to capture that sort of puppet show/school play kind of vibe.

My parents were in first-year high when Martial Law was declared back in '72, and fifty-one years later, the Marcos family is yet again trying to take control of Philippine history by downplaying all the atrocities they committed.

My parents have experienced two Marcos presidents in their lifetime—a family of dictators and thieves.

It’s an insult to every Martial law victim that this historical denialism is taking place, and we have to stop it no matter what, both for their sake and for the sake of future generations who are learning about this for the first time. No matter what anyone tries to do to the curriculum, it can't bring anyone back from the dead. It can never erase the trauma, the truth. Real people were affected by this dark period in history, and no dictator or his family will ever make anyone forget.

Got around to making my own spidersona!! I’ve always been a fan of neon-green techy aesthetics, so I wanted to incorporate that.

I wanted my spidersona to be heavily centered on sound, so I based a lot of it off the ogre-faced spider, which is one out of three kinds of spiders that can hear. Ogre-faced spiders have receptors on their legs which kinda act like ears, and they can hear low and high frequencies and detect predators like birds. Thus, my character has super-hearing; the headphones don’t serve any additional purpose other than music, as of now.

I’d imagine Earth-2306 to be set in the semi-distant future, basically a high-tech version of Philippines. Present day 2023 is also something that fits imo, I’m flexible when it comes to the setting.

The design will definitely be subject to change over time, but I’m really happy with how this turned out. I haven’t really done any serious traditional art lately. Designing Neon was fun; I have a couple other friends who are making their own spidersonas, too, and it’s really cool to see the variety.

(Fun fact: Neon is also the name of a genus of jumping spider)

you're a legend in my own mind 💖

When my friends and I were in grade school, we had this teacher named Teacher Vivian. She was well beyond the retirement age (her early seventies), but our school still took her in because she still wanted to teach. (CONTINUATION UNDER THE CUT)

 Looking back, she was one of the coolest teachers I've ever had. She was a joyful, sweet old woman, but was never afraid to put her foot down when she needed to. She would often tell our class stories from her her childhood, her time teaching at other schools, and so much more. We always enjoyed them because not only were they entertaining, but they had wisdom. She even taught us Greek and Roman Mythology for a whole quarter, and we even had a competition where we'd dress up as Greek gods and give speeches about how we'd use our powers to improve the country. In her class, I learned how to debate, how to diagram sentences. In her class, I learned the meaning and spelling of many new words I now often use in my writing. Whenever I write them down or hear them, I think of her. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2021. It hurt all of the batches she'd ever taught in our school, and it was even worse because it happened at a time when people still weren't allowed to gather. She was the grandma our batch never thought we needed. Even before the pandemic, we never got to celebrate her birthday at school because it always fell on our summer breaks. But whenever any of our teachers had birthdays, we took it upon ourselves to write birthday greetings on the wall and surprise them when they'd come through the door. That's how much we loved them in our small school. I think about Teacher Viv in the small things—in her stories that randomly pop up in my mind, in words that I use in writing, in the nicknames she used to give us. She was an incredible woman, and I miss her everyday. But even if I'm sad she's gone, I know I'm gonna see her again someday. (Also, the flowers on the whiteboard are yellow daisies, hawthorns, and lilies of the valley. Yellow daisies represent joy and friendship, while hawthorns and lilies of the valley are the birth flowers for May :D)

Some fanart for ‘The Trick’ !! I wanted to try something new for this one and I’m super happy with how it turned out, especially the felt puppet kinda artstyle. If this song had a music video, I imagine it being a puppet show like this.

finally got around to drawing Florence, the Bandito OC I made for Cliquetober! I wrote about him on my main blog -- his introduction and how he lost his arm.

He has yellow tape over his heart because it symbolizes his individuality, the part of him that the Bishops once erased but refused to let go of once he got it back. He’d been prisoner in the Towers of Silence for so long that he forgot his own name, but he chose his current one in order to reclaim his own identity.
