I lied about my new blog, it won’t have fan stuff probably, I think the main focus will be pixel art and aesthetic reblogs. Still deciding if I should keep posting fan stuff here alongside my OC stuff or make a third blog for it. Of course, all of this might not matter soon, considering the impending AI shit.

Like this makes me reconsider even making a comic at all. On the off chance it gets any audience, it's going to end up a target for AI. Are physical comics even safe? Probably not! Because you can get digital versions of them, too. Doesn't matter if you're a nobody with three readers posting to Webtoons or you're a professional artist working for DC or Marvel, no one's art is safe. What a fucking nightmare.

I literally just made a new blog to reblog stuff and post fanart (to keep this blog clean and organized and focused more on original stuff and to be cringe in peace elsewhere).

I'll keep reblogging over there until the AI shit is confirmed and finalized, but if it goes through I'll probably delete all my art here, and on my old blog, and on my new blog, including reblogged art, in a futile attempt to keep AI from scraping from artists I enjoy.

Probably will end up just using that blog to post book quotes and 2012 era tumblr-style show gifs I guess.

I am so goddamn sick of AI infecting everything. It's a virus.

What is this about the tumblr staff wanting to sell art data to midjourney?

An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don't have any more info. They probably won't have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:

I have no reason to doubt my ex-coworker word, they are a trustworthy person.

Tumblr's CEO has been absurdly enthusiastic (comically, even) about AI, and is a big fan of LLMs and 'AI' companies.

A deal with midjourney could solve tumblr financial issues (not the same company, but openAi is paying up to 5 million/year to news companies to use their content as training data... tumblr generates several orders of magnitude more content than any newspaper or any media company and it only would need a 20 to 30 million per year deal to be profitable)

So I don't have any extra info yet, but I'm keeping my ears open.

I have a writing blog, but I feel like if I want to talk about my ocs, I should do it here, because this is where I post them. I already made a post to my writing blog about how I'm unsure how to maintain it while writing scripts rather than prose, but I also don't want talking about my writing here to make it seem like all art I post is related to my comic wips because it isn't.

I don't know. Like where am I supposed to post that I'm considering making Kari a florist rather than a botanist because I don't know enough about plant science to write her as the latter. I guess I'm posting it here.

New pfp (self portrait!) Entering a Colorful Art era 🌈 My style seems to change with the seasons. With the eventuality of spring, I'm in the mood for more color.
