in my head the star wars equivalent of tswift is some human woman named tay’lor spiff or something and her stans are losing their minds over theories that she’s secretly a jedi singing about the horrors of war, even though she’s from a neutral system that hasn’t seen so much as a moral panic in 50 years

The current state of pop girlies is so funny like
Ariana Grande: getting dragged for homewrecking with the guy who played SpongeBob in the SpongeBob musical
Taylor Swift: dropping her worst album in years about how deeply obsessed she is with Matty Healy
Billie Eilish, for some reason:

message one: "people use the punisher symbol as a pro-police dog whistle. police wear his symbol all the time."
message two: "fuck I forgor the other half of the joke: the punisher is a vigilante who kills cops, like, a LOT"
/end text.
one time i told a guy with a huge punisher decal on his car that i loved the punisher but that i'm too scared to have any of his merch because in the current political climate i wouldn't want people to think i support killing police and the man had. no response whatsoever. he was smiling and completely frozen in place. i'd never seen anyone bluescreen that hard
do with this information what you will

I’m not sure who needs to hear this but it’s normal and okay to be DISABLED by your DISABILITY.
Sometimes it is going to stop you from doing things, and that’s okay. Sometimes it’s going to get in your way or make you struggle or cause problems in your life. But that’s okay, that’s why it’s called a disability.
You don’t need to fight yourself or “not let it hold you back” because a lot of times it will, but that’s the point.

in guarani there's a standard greeting that literally translates to "are you happy" (ndevy'apa) and the natural reply is "i'm happy" (avy'a) and as americans learning the language we were so distressed like "but what if we're not happy....." and our teachers were like "that's so not the fucking point"
we kept trying to think of any other way to reply but our teachers kept trying to get it into our brains that it's an idiomatic greeting, it literally is not the time or place to traumadump, and as usamerican english speakers we are not some special exception for saying "what's up" with the reply being "not much" instead of "the ceiling"
but anyway while i was working in paraguay -- the country with the largest population of guarani speakers -- i got sent an article by some friends back home like "look! they're saying that paraguay is the happiest country in the world!"
and the methodology was "we went around and asked paraguayans if they're happy and recorded their responses" and i was like. oh. of course you did. and of course you got a 100% positive response rate.

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

is your thing about lesbian community related to how like people will use the phrase 'trans and nonbinary lesbians' as if those are two groups that are equally excluded and stigmatized, when like the default assumption when someone describes themselves as a 'nonbinary lesbian' is inevitably a cafab person who isn't cis but still uses that label
my issue is that for like a substantial amount of time (and even currently) major women’s communities and institutions, perhaps especially lesbian ones, used the concepts of ‘womanhood’ and lesbianism’s attachment to the concept of ‘womanhood’ and the various gatekept definitions of that to exclude trans women from community and resources. And as soon as trans women made literally an inroads into like acceptance into these spaces or concepts, many of these communities literally changed their self definition to like not have anything to do with women at all rather than implicitly accept the concept that trans women might have some sort of equal participation in the concepts of womanhood or lesbianism.
In the post I made the comparison a friend mentioned to how when a trans woman was elected to the Virginia State Legislature, the conservative governement ungendered the language so as to avoid calling her a ‘congresswoman’, and how many queer people on here like literally celebrated that action as progressive when it was done motivated by transmisogyny.
There are multiple instances of this happening in lesbian and women’s communities, where they are defined transmisogynistically for a great deal of time, and when the social mores around trans women exclusion are finally shifting, they would literally rather redefine themselves as to not be about women than to share that sort of space with trans women:
Womens Colleges which until the late 00′s rejected trans women completely, when finally accepted trans women students, mostly pivoted to being ‘for all genders’
the HER app, which used to kick trans women off for being men, eventually shifting from being an app ‘for lesbians’ to being for queer people of all genders as soon as they were challenged on this transmisogynistic practice
The general language move away from groups and caucuses for ‘women’ to being for ‘women and femmes’, ‘feminized people’, or even just ‘femmes’. Sometimes people explicitly say that the shift to ‘femmes’ was to be ‘trans inclusive’, because cis women would rather abdicate any concept of womanhood or like lesbianism as like an experience that trans women can experience equally to cis women.
this resulted in a shift as well where even overt transmisogynists claimed that all (afab, and therefore real) women, and especially lesbians experience gender dysphoria in the lines of transmasculine people. This was another method of reframing lesbianism/womanhood outside of the purview of trans women - in this sense, by claiming that trans women are obviously not women in the same way as cis women because they specifically are alright with being women or see lesbianism as being about being a woman.
for the most part this has resulted in a sort of temper tantrum on the part of cafab lesbians where if they are not allowed to exclude trans women from their concepts of lesbianism’s inviolate female womanhood, then they would rather completely redefine lesbianism to be about something that precludes most trans women from it rather than like be debased with our conceptual presence.

there are still people in the notes of that thread failing to grasp that this isn't a hypothetical for me. I know trans people up here who had their front door covered with 'I ❤️ JKR' and 'adult human female' stickers. there are active terf groups who harrass queer cafés and bookshops and use her name as an in-group identifier on signs and t-shirts at protests and at pride. she actually personally funded a trans exclusionary women's crisis centre in edinburgh, after her followers hounded and harrassed an inclusive service into shutting down. she is a tangible threat to trans people here.
