hello!!! this is for my mcytblr valentine (@mcytblr-valentine-grams ) , @lakuronekobaka!! this is a sideblog cause i’m icky about sharing fics on my main- @fandomandsparkles. so, have some ren and doc fluff, i guess. i had fun writing this! :) enjoy! (it’s about 500+ words) sorry for being so late :0

Doc flexed his mechanical arm, wincing as it sparked a little against his creeper skin. Something was wrong with it, and he needed to find out why. He had been in the middle of talking with Cub when this had happened, and needless to say, he wasn’t in the best mood. He’d headed back to the Octagon, and was now standing in the middle of the corridor, rummaging through a chest for materials.

“Doc!”

A slightly over excited werewolf flew down to him, hurriedly stashing away his elytra. Doc smiled, albeit a little tiredly- he wasn’t quite in the mood for shenanigans.

Speaking of shenanigans, Ren had a lumpy package tucked under his arm, and Doc raised an eyebrow. “What’s up, Ren?”

The werewolf’s tail thumped against the ground, and Ren rocked back and forth gleefully. “Happy Valentine’s Day,” Ren blurted out, and dropped the package a little too close to Doc’s toes than he was comfortable with. This feeling grew stronger as the package let out a loud ‘clunk’ when it reached the floor.

He was too busy thinking about it to process what Ren had said, so he glanced up with a, “Sorry, what? Valentine’s Day?” Doc thought back and realised- it was, in fact, Valentine’s Day, now that he thought of it.

“Open it!” Ren said, beaming.

Doc complied, tearing open the green wrapping paper, and finally, he uncovered the gift. It was a shiny, new arm, with copper hints and beautifully oiled mechanics, designed to fit seamlessly into his shoulder. Near the edge of his wrist was a small Swaggon logo. “Is this for me?” Doc asked, rather stupidly.

Ren nodded, and his ears went flat down, a little bashfully. “I saw your arm was a little wonky, so I got Scar to design a new one for you! This one’s a lot better.” He paused. “Hey, I still did lots of work, though- it wasn’t just Scar! Anyway, I paid him for it, too, so this gift is still counted as mine, not his.”

Doc grinned. “Of course, of course. Thanks a lot, Ren.” He popped his old arm out, laying it on the table. Finally, he fit the new one in, marvelling at how it popped in smoothly, and how it bent to his movements easily. “It’s amazing.” He had to ask Scar how he did it.

“You like it?” Ren asked hopefully.

In response, Doc opened his arms invitingly. The werewolf bounced into his hug, knocking Doc a step backwards. He let out a mild ‘oomph’, but enveloped his arms around his friend just as eagerly as his friend had accepted the hug.

“Sorry, I don’t have a present for you,” Doc mumbled. He let go, rubbing the back of his neck apologetically. Honestly, he hadn’t thought of Valentine's Day at all. Creeper hybrids didn’t usually celebrate that sort of thing- and honestly, he thought werewolves didn’t either.

But then again, they were both on Hermitcraft now. Things were different.

“That’s alright, there’s always next year.” Ren wiggled his eyebrows, looking at Doc from over his sunglasses- perhaps, Doc noted, he would give Ren another pair next year.

Doc smiled. “True.” He looked over the horizon, his new arm limp but ready at his side. Ren was there too, pleased, and Doc nudged him with his shoulder happily.

Who knew what was to come, but for now, they would be two friends, a creeper and a werewolf, side by side.

The moon started to rise.
