Would Dr. Lewis Zimmerman count as a separate person from the EMH Doctor? As they are technically different characters. Therefore would you allow the EMH Doctor AND Dr. Zimmerman to both be posted here? (Also would the ECH also count? (Emergency Command Hologram))

So Dr Zimmerman and the Doctor are definitely separate characters and should be submitted (and would be posted) as such. I haven't watched any eps with the ECH yet (I watch out of order) but if I'm understanding memory alpha correctly, that's an extension of the EMH rather than a separate character so unless I'm wrong (in which case, feel free to correct me) he'd count as a version of the EMH. However, I do allow the submission of specific versions so that'd still be a valid submission.

It might take a while tho, sorry to anyone who expected consistency 😔

Oh I finally figured out who I couldn't remember but wanted to list as a counter example for the rule of thumb: Jonathan Archer. Very first appearance was as a kid, but obviously anyone thinking of him will immediately think of adult Archer. So think of that as like the degree to which a character debuting as a kid doesn't disqualify them.

As counter examples of characters that wouldn't be allowed I'd like to once again point to Wes and also add Alexander Rozhenko who I think both give good examples of characters who appear in multiple series at different ages and also Jake and Nog as examples that age over the course of one series. Yes, we see all of them as adults, but that isn't the age people best know them at. I hope that clears up any remaining confusion, assuming the initial ask was sent in good faith.

Also, I've added a new clarification to the rules specifying a guideline for artificial life forms. It's the one in parentheses.

You said if a character is in multiple mediums, you'll take the time period most recognized, but in the next rule, you said you could submit specific versions of characters. So can you, or can you not submit Picard Wesley Chrusher specifically? (I'm not submitting Wesley Chrusher. I'm just using him as an example of where my confusion is).

No. As explained in that point about alternate versions, the character already has to qualify without specifying a version. This remains true if the specific version is from a secondary medium.

I should say the primary medium doesn't have to be the one they appeared in first but it usually is, so a good rule of thumb if you're confused is: If they were a kid in their debut, they probably don't qualify.
