Discovery!

People using Glaze/Webglaze! I have made a discovery. Inputting a png produces dramatically better results than inputting a jpg.

Here's why, confirmed by Glaze lead: Glaze only works on pngs, so it converts to a png anyway regardless of what you put in. After, it will convert back to the file format you input (like a jpg), and likely uses whatever default compression method to do so. So you end up with compression on compression, and it creates some nasty results.

Tonight I was trying to Glaze this majority-red work (which we all know gets destroyed by compression because of the color) and was gutted by how absolutely terrible it looked. Like saving a quality 3 jpg in Photoshop, honestly. I'm all for giving up *some* quality and ability to discern small details in favor of the protection of Glaze, but this was too much. Crisp details were entirely lost when I got it back. I was lamenting the fact that I might have to just not Glaze this work at all. Since you can't really dial back the intensity for webglaze anymore (it's medium or high, or default, which selects for you), I decided to try putting a png through. Which came out WAY better?

Then I put another one through to be sure, and had the same (better) results. And one more for good measure, all of which produced better results than their jpg counterparts.

So my workflow moving forward will be high quality png into webglaze, then convert to jpg on my own to save quality as much as possible.

Good news, fellow artists! Nightshade has finally been released by the UChicago team! If you aren't aware of what Nightshade is, it's a tool that helps poison AI datasets so that the model "sees" something different from what an image actually depicts. It's the same team that released Glaze, which helps protect art against style mimicry (aka those finetuned models that try to rip off a specific artist). As they show in their paper, even a hundred poisoned concepts make a huge difference.

(Reminder that glazing your art is more important than nighshading it, as they mention in their tweets above, so when you're uploading your art, try to glaze it at the very least.)

So this past Xmas we've been playing Baldur's Gate III! Still haven't finished it, just entered 3rd act, but it's sooo good!

All characters are truly well written! We love all of them, but guess who's one of our favs! Yeah, big sis! Karlach! She's so adorable ❤️ We just had to draw our favourite tiefling ❤️

HI! But from this place in more detail… Can I ask two questions about this at once? "CLJ- Xunyin 2" "CLJ- Xunyin 4 "

Yes! As you can guess, they're both Xunfeng and Danyin pictures. Number 4 is a cleaner version of the sketch I posted of them drinking together. Number 2 is an older WIP of them in Silent Moon Palace stargazing, post-canon set in the 500 years before DFQC's return.

As I said, I loved her not paired up with anyone just for the sake of a happy ending at the end of the show, but I DO love this ship too. And if the writers had to remove their love story due to time restrictions, maybe they could have given us a proper epilogue including these two healing physically and emotionally together. They both have been through a lot. (We can always dream...)
