just because my brain is a lil mushy for writing-- and the mood to do this struck me-- imma piggy back off some earlier chatter with Jackie ( @akumanoken ) on that "list of voices that 'do things™'" just because--

Disclaimer before i start: For the VA entries here, reference points are going to be given via the characters i know them best as/who's performance best fits the sprit of this list-- These are also in no real order, mainly just whatever order i thought of names first lol

Morikawa Toshiyuki

{as Tsukinami Carla - Diabolik Lovers}

Okay so, Carla is slightly an outlier in this group-- seeing as I've never had the chance to play any of the game series he's from (and may not ever be able to, unless i find finished English patches and try to fuck around with that route--) But regardless of that, i've heard his voice via some videos online in the past-- and My God-- this man could end me. (and i should i get to play any game routes featuring him, imma probably die on the spot--)

Sakurai Takahiro

{as Mukami Ruki - Diabolik Lovers}

Again, i doubt i'll ever be able to play his routes in game, but-- i do believe at one point i watched the anime adaptation that was made for More Blood, and even if it was a train wreck (like the rest of the anime for this series lol) i can at least recall enjoying Ruki's VA out of all that mess XD {also, bonus mention for one of his characters songs here, as i just now heard this one today-- and rather enjoyed it u w u}

Daisuke Ono / J. Michael Tatum

{as Sebastian Michaelis - Kuroshitsuji}

I-- don't really have much to say on this point lol, aside from the fact that these men doing their voices for Sebastian 100% fit the spirit of this list XD (i'm also skipping giving a link here, because i'm sure anyone reading can go find an example of both VAs in this role very easily lol)

Morita Masakazu

{as Yanagi Aiji - Collar x Malice}

Yanagi sits in kind of an odd space honestly lol-- because on the one hand, i enjoy just listening to him-- thanks to "older brother/caring dad" sorta vibe he gives me... but at the same time, i can't deny that certain voice dips he does-- they do hit a lil different. {for a better show case of what i mean, check out this vid of his "interview" via the voice recorder extra-- tho i sadly couldn't find one with the eng sub}

Kimura Ryouhei

{as Shiraishi Kageyuki - Collar x Malice}

hhhh-- Shiraishi, my boi... i love this man-- and like, his voice wins a spot here because, much like with Micchan-- i'd lowkey die if i ended up as a target of the teasing he enjoys doing. {and the bonus voice recorder section for him as well--}

Suwabe Jun'ichi

{as Abraham Van Helsing - Code: Realize}

Van somewhat falls in line with Yanagi, as i find his voice rather soothing to listen to... and i admit, my frame of reference for them both is a little fuzzy--thanks to not having played either game for a while... But-- i do remember an extra story from the first C:R game, which gives us all sleepy voice Van, and just-- that one lowkey ended me.

listen-- just... listen-- Hirakawa earns his place here because as both bois, i could listen to this man talk for ages-- (much like the mentions below--) But-- thanks to certain scenes from the Secret xxx CD... i can not unhear this man doing spicy audio-- and that fact is forever going to end me. (and Itsuki doesn't get an example link, simply because i don't think i've got anything timmed from the CD he mainly features in--)

Shu:

It was because you encourage him to be active one to many times and he got mad. Which honestly doesn’t happen but you got his nerves for once and he was not happy.

“You honestly shouldn’t care, it’s not your life.” He said, resting on the couch.

“Shu, it’s a good thing. Maybe at least try.” You suggested.

He looked at you only to sigh, “I’d prefer if you’d stay out of my life.” His eyes a dark hue of ocean blue as he seemed to be upset.

“Shu, I was just trying to help.” You said looking at him a bit disappointed.

“I said to stay out of it! Not quit acting like it matters to you.” He glared.

“Fine, do what you want.” You’d say before wiping your tears away and leaving the room.

Reiji:

Reiji being Reiji, said something rude of course. Probably because you brought up his mother and that he just forgive or at least move because it would put less stress on him.

“Do you view me as foolish?”

“What? Reiji, no. I just think you should relax a bit.”

“You clearly have no business in the matter, do not tell me how I should and should not deal with things.”

“Reiji-“

“You want me to make amends with my dead mother when I revive her. How foolish, only proves you are senseless mortal. You may possess the gift of beauty but you are and forever will be mere distraction for me. Do not try to meddle with my emotions.”

You glared at him with a strong sense of anger. This was not only so insulting but he just implied you were a play thing. Realizing all of this, you had been hit by such pain, you had endured his insults before but this was the last straw. You couldn’t be passive aggressive this time.

Hurt flashed in your eyes as you shook your head, “You’re right, I’m just a pretty distraction for you but at least I’m not heartless.” You mumbled loud enough for him to hear as you pass by him.

Holding your tears in as best as you could you left to your room closing it behind you only to sob in your hands uncontrollably.

Laito:

You knew a little bit about his past but not completely but you just wanted to understand because he never everything about you.

“Can’t you just tell me?” You say titling your head looking somewhat sad.

“Its none of your business. Please just leave it alone.” He said, his back turned you as he messed with the few picture frames in your bedroom.

“Don’t you think it’s unfair that you don’t let me hide anything from you but you hide everything from me?”

“I don’t want to talk about my mother with you.”

“I’m not asking you too. I’m just saying-“

“Damn it, can’t you just drop this! I’m sick of your concern! It’s irrating.”

“I’m irrating?” You voice cracked as tears fell from your eyes.

“Y/ N.”

“I should go.” You say dryly before leaving.

Kanato:

You just wanted him to relax and to not throw as many tantrums. He had always been a little bit on the crazy side when something had hit him but you would have never have imagined him to get so worked up about what you said and did. So of course he raised his voice at you and told you were worthless and it didn’t help at all.

“You shouldn’t raise your voice Kanato, it’ll make you stressed.”

“Shut up! You stupid worthless mortal!” He’d say being really upset.

This of course was something you didn’t typically witness and it hurt to say the least. You suddenly felt your cheeks getting wet as you wiped them a few times before running off.

(Because Kanato is of course crazy and I have to portray him here as if he were less crazy since no one could actually did a crazy person. I mean that would just be dis-functional for the both of you.)

Ayato:

It was at school where he didn’t win a basketball match and he was just so mad. He always wanted to be the best and he hate that you saw that game where he didn’t win.

“Ayato, it’s just a game. You can win next time.” You say, putting a hand on his shoulder, trying to reassure him.

“No it’s not.” He said shaking his head, gritting his teeth.

“Hey, I’m still proud of you.”

“NO! I’m a failure!” His fist hitting the locker next to him shocking you in surprise.

“Ayato calm down.” You say, frowning before reaching out to him.

“No you don’t understand what its like to drown because your not good enough! You think you know what it means but you don’t have a damn clue.” He gritted his teeth, not realizing he had hurt your feelings.

“You always say that but you don’t know how much it hurts to see you like this.” You mumbled before brushing passed him. A tear rolling down your cheek as you say this.

Subaru:

It was the topic of his insecurities and him feeling like he wasn’t enough.

“You don’t want someone like me. I’m a horrible person.”

“No, no you are not.” You say, cupping his face with your heads.

“How could you want this! I am not what you want! I am a mistake, y/n!” He moved from your touch, yelling at you in frustration.

You looked down not knowing what to say. He kept acting like this and you weren’t sure how to reassure him anymore. Seeing him like this hurt you.

“If only you know how much it hurts to see you like this.” Your eyes glassy, a few tears flowing down your face as you felt so hopeless.

Kino:

“Kino, please.” You pleaded, feeling so distraught.

“I can’t.” He shook his head.

You grit your teeth before losing yourself. “Damn it Kino! For once in your life could you just put me first and not your revenge!”

“You don’t understand what it means!” He ranted, through his hands up.

You glared, tears falling down your face by this point. It felt like everything was spinning. You pointed a finger at him shouting, “I gave up everything for you!”

“Y/n-”

“I-if you l-love me, t-this is the least you c-could do.” You weep before turning to leave him.

Mukami

Ruki:

You two were both too stubborn to admit that you guys didn’t just like each other but in-fact were at the stage of loving. Even so you both had such rough pasts and things weren’t going so well because you both were digging into each other’s past. And let’s just say neither of you were ready.

“You know you can tell me anything.” He mumbled looking down with a frown.

“Ruki, you wouldn’t understand.” You shook your head.

“Why can’t you tell me?” He asked somewhat annoyed that you weren’t going to open.

“Because!” You through your arms up before continuing. “You want me to open up thinking that it’s easy but why don’t you try being the one to say it all first.”

“I’m a vampire, some of my stories are too much to share with you. You wouldn’t look at me the same.” He frowned.

“How could you say that? You don’t even know how I feel, yet you act like you do and push me away but then come in whenever you want.” Your voice wavering with a knot in your throughout.

“Y/n, I wanna help you.” He held your hand, preventing you from leaving.

You looked up at him a tear rolling down your cheek, “If you wanna help me then just let me go.”

Yuma:

“I don’t want you to protect me.” You shook your head ignoring his worry.

He looked into your eyes, touching your cheek. “I’m a vampire only because I owe a debt to someone. I can’t burden you as much as I love you.”

“Yuma. You could never burden me.” You say with glassy eyes.

“Y/n, please just go, it’s better for you.” He turned not looking at you, in fear he’d break if he looked at you any second.

You shook your head, placing a hand on his shoulder, “I don’t care if you’re a vampire, I love you.”

“Y/n. Go now.” He gritted his teeth not wanting to deal with your stubbornness.

Tears blurred your vision, a crack in your voice as you couldn’t do this anymore. “No--how can you-”

“GO!”He yelled.

You back away a tear falling down your cheek, your mouth agape as you couldn’t believe your world had come crashing down.

Kou:

You were being continuously bullied by his fangirls and you didn’t want to keep bothering him about it because he just seemed so busy. And everytime you did he told you it’s just something to ignore and that it’s quite normal. Here he was quite insensitive due to his past because he was used to being abused because of his beauty so he didn’t see the need to protect you. He thought you’d just forget about it.

“How is it so easy for you?” You asked, not understanding how he could do it.

“You just get over it, it’s not really that hard.” He mused, looking at the papers in front of him.

“Get over it? You act like it’s so easy.” Your voice sounding surprised as you looked at him with glassy eyes.

“Why are you getting so upset?” He asked, coming to your side now.

“You mean you haven’t seen the endless harassment at school?” You questioned somewhat upset for his ignorance. This was crushing you and he could care less.

“I have, but it just takes time. Moving on from is it is not so bad.” He shrugged.

“H-how can you say that? D-don’t you c-care at all?” Your shoulders shook as tears ran down your face.

“I do-”

“Y-you don’t know how much it h-hurts.” You stammered with tears still falling. Here he was shocked that such a confident beautiful girl could be so broken, and it was his fault.

Azusa:

He’d always been sweet and loving but he didn’t want to burden you.

“It’s better...if I leave...you won’t worry.” He smiled weakly feeling like he had put you through to much.

“No, Azusa don’t say that.” You shook your head.

“It’s okay...you should meet...other people.” He said frowning that you didn’t want to listen to him.

“No, you are enough for me. I-I love you.” You break down in tears as you feel like you’ve hurt him.

Tsukinami

Carla:

You two were having love issues. And opening up wasn’t Carla’s strong suit.

“Carla we can talk about this.” You frowned walking over to him.

“There’s nothing to talk about.” He ignored.

“Yes there is, because I love you and I don’t want you to be so closed like this.” You reassured him.

“Y/n, being a vampire, let alone a founder is a hard thing. You don’t need to be dragged into something like this. It’d only hurt you.” He tried to reason not wanting to burden you.

“I’ve been hurt so many times because our relationship is breaking Carla.” You justified.

“Y/N I can’t drag you into this!” Growing upset he slamed his hand on the counter.

“The only way you’d hurt me is if you didn’t tell me.” You shook your head reassuring him.

“Y/N ENOUGH!” He yelled.

“Fine.” You’re voice went quiet.

“Look it’s-” He tried to justify.

“All I ever did is love you, but I guess it’s not enough.” Your eyes glassy you turned to walk away wiping the tears that fell.

Shin:

His anger was the reason for all this. And it was a point less argument to be honest.

“Shin please, I barely know the guy.” You reassured him.

“How do I know you’re not lying?” He turned to look at you somewhat angry.

“Oh so you think I’m lying?” Your voice wavered.

“You’re gone a lot of the time!” He shouted enough to make anyone here behind the walls of the room. Your eyes brimmed with tears as you tried to hold them back, only failing to do so.

Shaking your head you replied, “I wouldn’t do that to you.”

“You say that, but it doesn’t seem that way. You’re just crying to make me stay.” He snarled.

“I do not want anyone but you, why can’t you see it?!” You glared wiping your tears.

“Because everyone betrays me damn it! And you will too!” He approach you pointing his finger at you, his blood boiling.

“I love you! You’re betraying me because you don’t trust me!” You screamed, your cheeks wet and stained with tears. Desperately you tired to wipe them away but it made no difference.

Thank you so much for requesting! I figured I’d talk about this in realistic terms of the characters. I’ve termed the words, ‘threaten’/‘knock them out’, as ‘outburst’ since their s/o is obviously angry with them in this sense. I honestly hope I interpreted your question correctly. If not, please feel free to message me so we can talk about it and make it right. :) Feel free to request again anytime. :))

Warning!! Do not read under the cut if you’re uncomfortable with toxic/abusive relationships.

Shu:

Considering his personality, he’s not really the type to either yell or harm his child/children.

Whether he loves you or not, his child/children are a different story and he wouldn’t set vigorous expectations like his mom did on him.

If you don’t have a relationship with him--that is, if he doesn’t love you, expect that parenting with him would be a lot more responsibility on you than it would be on him.

He wouldn’t really care how you mother your child/children in all honesty. Just as long as they’re safe is what matters to him and he really leaves it up to you to discipline them.

He’d probably never argue with his children due to him being laid-back and carefree.

If you had an outburst here, it would be due to not agreeing with him about something regarding your children if you think he’s on the wrong side of things.

He would be quite shocked to see such a reaction from you, but would just sink into doing nothing like usual and would just go along with it.

If he does love you, he’ll involve himself a lot more and show his parenting side. In fact, he would want to make every decision with you.

If an outburst occurs in this type of relationship with him, it would most likely be just like above where you both don’t see eye to eye on something regarding parenting.

You two would argue and probably wouldn’t talk for a while. He’d distance himself to give you space as well.

He knows you just want the best for your child/children, and would end up talking to you sooner than later to work things out because he loves and misses having you in his arms.

Reiji:

Reiji in general really isn’t the type to just let you mother your child/children however you want.

He’s a strict and orderly person and expects nothing but perfect parenting for his child/children.

However, this solely depends on your relationship with him.

If you both don’t love each other, parenting with him is all about control.

Don’t expect that you’d win in an argument over an important decision that regarded your children.

In the end, he’d always be the one to make the decision; in fact, your opinion would mean nothing to him. His word is basically absolute since he thinks he knows best.

Reiji is the type to instill discipline in his children since he wants them to be very prim and proper, and would possibly discipline them physically if they misbehaved or caused trouble.

If you had an outburst towards him here, he’d simply just chuckle and brush it off, finding your word to be inferior to his, and might even slap you if you really push it, telling you it isn’t lady-like to respond in such a way/tone.

He’d also want his children to excel in every subject and be ‘perfect’ in all areas; he would push them over the limit to succeed and give him a good image since he takes a lot of pride in his family name.

If you both had more than one child, Reiji would probably have a favorite out of the bunch as well.

Like mother, like son.

If he does love you though, things are quite different.

Reiji would still want his children to be educated and beyond disciplined for sure, but with you by his side, he ends up making rational decisions that would avoid having his child/children resent him later on.

Will discipline his children, such as ground them or put them in time out if they’re very young--but will not discipline physically because they remind him of you.

Even Reiji may seem harsh on the outside, it would absolutely break his heart if he hurt someone he cared about.

Aww Rei :’).

Although, if he does get a little out of line with disciplining your child/children--that is, if he makes them cry or takes things too far in the range of discipline, you won’t be one to stand for it.

If an outburst happens here, Reiji will tell you to calm down and that you’re being dramatic. He loves you, yes, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t straightforward with what he thinks.

Like his brother Shu, he would give you space after the argument, and due to this pride, he would still think that what he did was right, but at the same time, he regrets it because it caused the bond between you two to tear.

Reiji would find a way to get you back tho.

Either with flowers and having a classy dinner that allows you both to get away from distractions.

Laito:

Laito would be a very carefree parent that would love his children to the ends of the earth.

He’d let them do pretty much anything and would want to know what’s going on in their lives to make sure they’re happy and safe.

Due to what happened to him as a child, he’d always be constantly concerned about their safety and who they interact with. Even though he’s carefree, he still has his limits. Influence especially is something that matters to him when it comes to being subjected to his child/children.

Although, things vary on whether or not he loves you.

If he doesn’t love you, he’ll try to push you away from your child/children and have them kids favor him over you just to show you who has the upper hand.

He would never physically harm or yell at his kids. The worst thing it could come down to is him becoming a tab bit strict which is where his worry and possessiveness kick in.

With you not being able to stand for this, you’d start getting angry with him because he’d be taking things too far, leading you to have an outburst.

At first, he’d just tell you not to get hasty, but with it continuing, his eyes would narrow and he’d slam you into a wall, grabbing you by your throat. He’d then tell you that whatever concerns his kids is something he’ll handle, not you, just cuz he’s obsessive like that.

If you dared to bring up his past or mother and use it as a counter during your outburst, he wouldn’t hesitate to choke you.

As it was stated before, he wants to be the preferred parent, mostly because he feels that he’s the only one that can truly protect his child/children.

He considers you to be a threat to his child/children’s happiness and life, and will attempt to brainwash his kid/kids into hating you just so he doesn’t have to worry about his child/children getting influenced by someone else.

In other words, he thinks he’s the only one who can raise his child/children ‘correctly’.

If he loves you, things are not the same as above.

However, him being carefree does remain the same along with him not physically hurting or yelling at his child/children, and only making his children upset when he becomes too strict because of his worries.

Because you both love each other, you’re there for him whenever thoughts of his past cross his mind.

You have to remind him constantly that your child/children will be safe and that nothing is going to hurt them. He sometimes contradicts you, but you can understand where he’s coming from since nothing is guaranteed.

If an outburst were to occur on him being a little too strict on his children and being a bit unreasonable about whatever it is, there would be a lot of brash comebacks between you two and he would end up walking out because he thinks you both need space.

Later on the same day, he would try to talk to you because he doesn’t want things to stay this way between you two.

You’d both end up apologizing and would spend the rest of the night talking about how to you look forward to raising your child/children.

Kanato:

Well, parenting with him can be quite sweet or chaotic, and this really depends on what relationship you have with him.

If he doesn’t love you, it’s very difficult to come to an agreement on things when it comes to your children.

He’s pretty psychotic, so he may agree with something now, and then feel totally different about it later.

Your arguments with him would seem never-ending, and Kanato won’t hesitate to revert to violence if you keep pushing his buttons.

Don’t take his child/children away from him--that is, not allowing them to see him--he won’t tolerate it by any means, and will revert to desperate measures if he doesn’t get what he wants. After all, he acts like a child himself.

Because there isn’t a great relationship between you two, he won’t physically harm or yell at his child/children, in fact, he finds them to be annoying considering he didn’t have them out of love.

Will blame their temper tantrums on you even tho you have nothing to do with it.

Yes, he’s that delusional.

He’ll always tell you to take them out of the room when they’re throwing a tantrum because he doesn’t want to hear them.

“They can be in presence again once they’ve calmed down.”

If you do have an outburst regarding something that happened between him and the kids, he’ll tell you you’re at fault for raising your voice when that’s beside the point of making your child/children sad.

If you push him enough, he’ll even get physical and reach for your throat to get you to surrender your rebellious tongue.

If Kanato does love you tho, he’s a lot more rational about things.

Even tho he tends to get out of hand sometimes, he finds himself to be level-headed when he’s around you.

He wouldn’t care too much about his child/children studying, he’d be more focused on their mental health since he’d never want them to grow up alone the way he did.

He isn’t the type to physically harm his children, but will occasionally raise his tone which will cause them to cry.

When were to you snap at him and have an outburst regarding the matter, he’d easily start yelling back, but won’t physically harm you by any means.

You’ll have to be the one to reach out to him after the fight is over because he doesn’t forgive or take his part of the blame easily.

Ayato:

Like his brothers, parenting is different depending on the fact of whether he loves you or not.

If he doesn’t, Ayato is a combination of close and distant with his child/children--meaning, he’ll only hang out with his child/children when he feels like it or if it benefits him.

He kind of neglects them in some way, and like Kanato, this is possibly because he didn’t have his children out of love.

If you ended up having more than one child and the oldest was a boy, he’d value them more because they were the firstborn and hold a sense of pride for him, and if they look like him, it’s a plus in his book.

He wouldn’t push his kids to be better than anyone though because he doesn’t want to put them through the torture his mom did with him.

He wouldn’t physically harm his child/children, and wouldn’t yell at them surprisingly. In fact, he’d always act nice to you when you’re both around them to keep up a facade for them.

However, if an outburst did occur from you, it would probably be because of him not taking parenting seriously and that he only give your child/children attention when it suits him.

He won’t tolerate your outburst one bit and might hit or throw you to the ground to remind you that you’re inferior.

He’ll even go as far as slamming you against the wall and biting you to make you quiet.

With you arguing against him that way, he would try to turn your child/children against you, either by telling them lies to make them resent you.

If he loves you, he’s quite different.

He’ll spend a lot of time with his kids and put a lot of effort into parenting.

Like above, he wouldn’t physically harm or yell at his children, but if an outburst did occur, it would be because you see a different side of things than him regarding your children.

You’d both end up yelling at each other, but you’d both make up fairly quickly considering Ayato is all about being mad in the moment and then moving on when he’d cooled off.

You hate how he manages to make you let the let little spat go almost every time, but because you love him, the last thing you want to do is hold a grudge against him.

Subaru:

Subaru isn’t one to hurt his child/children whether he loves you or not.

He had an abusive childhood and would never want his child/children to go through the same thing.

If he doesn’t love you, he’ll try his best to parent, but he would distance himself most of the time because he feels like a total mess that wasn’t meant to be a father.

In fact, he feels that because he’s the father of his children, he’s ‘contaminated’ them in some way just because he’s their father.

Unlike his brothers who wouldn’t give a shit about the mother of their children, he grows to have respect for you considering you brought his child/children into the world.

He’s very protective of his child/children, and might come off as harsh if he’s trying to protect or advise them--that is, yelling at them or slightly raising his voice if telling them to safe and not letting others take advantage of them, but this doesn’t happen often.

He’d be the one to reach out to you, saying he was sorry and would even take all of the blame saying that it was all his fault.

(I‘d suggest trying to fight without weapons like he did right now but it would be difficult)

But, don’t try to fight them again like last time.

Ayato: Idiot, i‘ll be prepared this time.

Yui: ... is that so?

Ayato: The way to change this whole situation is bringing back their memories. Even if they won’t be as easy to catch as Subaru we still need to try our best. If we think about a strategy we can catch them.

Yui: (... Surely, if Reiji and Shu-san wouldn’t plan something about this situation too ...)
