Shin: Be careful, the width of the road narrows the more we walk on it.

Kino: But you do know that if we get caught going to the church, we might get ambushed either way?

Yui: He’s right. We’re talking about Carla-san after all.

Kino: I know running away isn’t an option. But if we end up fighting Carla here, his friends will notice us and help him.

If these guys were to rush over, it would turn out to be a 5 vs 2 fight. And there’s no way we could win that one then.

One Piece Magazine Reiju short story

I recently bought One Piece Magazine to read the Reiju short story. I don't know how to share this experience other than just straight up translating the whole thing, but it was utterly hilarious chaos with the brothers trying to cook and it just ended up being a disastrous mess.

I'll give a summary, I guess...

Reiju and her brothers went to another kingdom for a diplomatic discussion, but once they were done, the Germa ships that were supposed to pick them up got delayed by the weather. The bros can't wait so they demand the locals to be given a ship.

Niji/Yonji: "Oh good, they understand. So we don't have to steal a ship."

Well, they did tell the people that Germa will compensate them, but still.

And yeah, the guys were so hungry that they were like "Even though royals shouldn't do menial things like cooking, we're dying of hunger here so it can't be helped."

All writers apparently agree that Niji misses Sanji like an utter dumbass because in the kitchen he out of nowhere says "Didn't we used to have a younger brother called Sanji who likes to cook?"

Yonji says "Yeah, he was kind of lame" and Ichiji says there's been wanted posters of him being spread around.

Based on the info they got, Reiju is aware of Sanji's history with Baratie and the Straw Hat crew, and thinks that because he's listed as just a cook on the wanted posters and not "fighter/combatant", he's probably still not much stronger than before.

Ichiji found some pork, labelled to be from Broc Coli. Reiju mentioned that Broc Coli specialises in pig farming and the pigs have been selectively bred to improve the meat quality. Ichiji commented "Oh, it's similar to our lineage factor modification, then", but then the next second he suddenly gets mad about it himself, throws the meat to the ground and was like "How could pigs compare to our Vinsmoke royal family."

Reiju: "You brought it up yourself out of nowhere though? :/"

Ichiji is grumpy and wants to go fishing instead. With the Raid Suit. Don't know how, wasn't explained, maybe he Sparking Valkyrie'd the fishes.

Niji wants to make chocolates, but had a meltdown because the recipe calls for cooking/confectioner's chocolate. He was like "Why?? do you?? need chocolate?? to make chocolate??? If the chocolate is already there I'll just eat that directly???"

(Note: It's not making cake or brownies or anything, it's making something along the lines of chocolate truffles or milk chocolates or other forms of chocolate that isn't just straight up dark chocolate/confectioner's chocolate. He's confused because the final product is still just "chocolate")

Yonji wants to make bread because it looks easy. Reiju decided to try to make something too, and wanted to make tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelettes) because she remembered reading about it in a story book with Sora before.

Reiju's logic: "If a penguin (in the story book) can cook, then even a beginning like me can do it." (so much for Reiju being the rational one)

Yonji starts shouting for help. His bread is a goopy mess and is a total failure. Apparently he didn't add the yeast because the recipe says 3g of yeast, and that's almost 0, so he didn't add any. Reiju tells him to make sure to follow the steps properly.

Ichiji comes back with a giant fish, and is asking for poison check. No poison, so Reiju left him to cut the fish.

Yonji is still having trouble, and he says he had added the ingredients properly this time. The dough is still gloopy and will not firm up even after kneading. Reiju said that maybe because of the exoskeleton, their skin are too cold for the fermentation process to start activating.

Yonji is grumpy and asks if this means he can't make bread. Reiju suggest using hot water to warm his skin, but he's already really disgruntled and says that it's so lame that they have to rely on microorganisms to make bread (well, at least he knows yeast is microorganisms, not just another type of flour).

(Note: This part really does not sound right to me, honestly. Maybe this was just meant to show that Reiju and Yonji have zero knowledge in cooking, but bread dough not firming up and gloopy is usually not related to yeast or fermentation, but the gluten. Most cases that I know of are either caused by adding too much water, not enough kneading, the flour itself is not suitable for bread, or even the dough being over fermented. I've never heard of sticky dough problems being caused by hand temperature.)

Ichiji gave up fileting the fish because there's bones everywhere. he dumped all the dead fishes he caught back to the sea. Yonji gave up trying to make bread and tossed the failed dough away (and also threw away Reiju's egg attempt even though it was fine :/). Niji can't find any chocolate, so he has nothing.

They can't do anything except wait until they reach Germa and then just go "AAAAAAA FOOODD" (well, they act cool in front of the servants, but still).

Reiju herself showered and got cleaned up first before going to eat. Seeing the poisoned stonefish served, she wondered how normal chefs handle the poisonous ingredients and so she went to the kitchen to ask.

There was a young cook on cleaning duty that immediately panics, but then a senior cook named Beryl came out to answer her questions. Reiju says old lady Beryl has been there for a very long time, even before the kids were born.

Beryl explains that to treat the armoured stonefish to make it safe to eat is to let it swim in a tank with Ruby Wakame seaweed. The seaweed will absorb the toxins and after 3 weeks, the fish will change from purple to blue, and this indicates that the toxins is completely gone and it will be safe to eat.

An easier method would be to just skin the fish and take out the poisonous organs, but fish skin is a delicacy, and so the chefs would do this so they can serve cuts of the fish with the skin attached.

Reiju makes a comment that cooking must be very hard because her brothers are all picky eaters (not just Niji, apparently), but Beryl says she and the other chefs are happy to adjust the prep to make the food palatable to the boys.

"Ichiji-sama dislikes green vegetables, but if you chop it up finely and mix it with meat dishes such as hamburg steaks, he will eat it without noticing."

Reiju: Is he a toddler?

(Note: Dunno if this is a universal thing, but it's a Japanese thing that when toddlers hate vegetables, the parents would chop up vegetables and put it in meatballs or the toddler's other favourite food so that they can get the vegetable nutrients even though the child dislikes the vegetable's taste)

"Niji-sama dislikes things with complex seasonings, so things like the sauces and such has to be made to be very simple to the utmost extent."

Reiju: That's dumb.

"Yonji-sama doesn't like food with dry texture, but if it's served to him when he gets hungry between meal times, he'll usually eat it."

Reiju: Is he a dog?

(Note: There is a section where Reiju muses that the cooks "safeguards" their meals just like how "Germa 66 protect peace". What peace? In the main series they're fine with siding with whoever, as long as they get paid. This comment doesn't make sense unless maybe she was being ironic/sarcastic here.)

Reiju apologised for bothering the cooks at this time, and Beryl then lets slip that Sanji has been to the kitchens often. When Reiju presses further, eventually Beryl reveals that Sora likes to make desserts often. Sora would say that she hoped to someday be able to cook together with her kids.

Hearing this Reiju briefly fantasised baking together with her mother and Sanji. Knowing it's just idle fantasy, though, she thanks Beryl for telling her all these and helping her appreciate cooking more.

Reiju thinks of Sanji and reevaluates her opinions on him. He's not "just" a cook. People's lives are basically in the hands of the cook, especially on long voyages at sea. She is glad that him having a place as a ship's cook means that he's found good friends who rely on him and trust him.

She then transforms, and uses her ability to suck out the poison from the fish, saying that the cooks are welcome to ask her for help to take out the poison if they need to cook with the stonefish.

Listen. I love the Liber Null. I love the chaotes. I love chaos magic, but graphs like this are why I'm writing a book.

This is a crock of horseshit. "Shamanism" in this context is a deeply ahistorical term. The idea that "witchcraft" and "sorcery" (what does this even refer to) are somehow separate from the rest of the historical lineage is wrote nonsense.

Hermeticism and Alchemy are not the same thing, they have a mutualistic relationship, but alchemy and hermeticism can both exist separately.

The Knights Templar did not predate hermeticism that is an insane thing to claim. Perfect Discourse alone predates them by 700 years. Sure Lazzarelli didn't translate Crater Hermetis until like 1550, but the Islamic world was going nuts with hermetic ideas all through the Golden age. Like where do you think Lazzarelli got the fucking manuscripts from.

The Rosicrucians were a splinter of the Freemasons.

The Bavarian Illuminati being on here makes sense but they're also a weird outlier. They were only pretending to be a magical organization and shouldn't really be considered one, but they're important to the OTO mythology.

I love the idea that the Golden Dawn is just Freemasonry + Illuminati. That's ridiculously reductive. The Dawn's whole thing is drawing from as many sources as possible with reckless abandon.

Where's Paracelsus? Where's Blavatsky? Where are the Spiritualists? Where are the Enlightenment Poet-Mystics? Where are the Christian Cabalists? This lists three different Freemason splinters but not a single mention of ancient Greek magic or Jewish mysticism. If Goetia gets an entry, Merkava/Hekhalot should get one, as should Kabbalah. If sufism gets an entry, so should Orphism and the neopythagoreans.

Nope, there is no official English version but you can find most of the routes translated on Tumblr, since luckily this community got some really great translators! ^^

I would recommend starting with HDB, the first game, to familiarize yourself with the characters and lore. There will be some inconsistencies, but nothing too bad. Also, the guys are all more jerky there, but don't mind them too much because time is rewinded in MB anyway, and they get better + become sweeter game by game.

leucism is a variety of conditions causing a lack of pigmentation in animals.

Now I'd like to go over every major leucistic condition and compare/contrast them to what we can note about Kimba.

No, I am not joking.

(OH MY GOD ITS SO CUTE I- er, this is a real life white lion cub, owing its white fur to a leucistic disorder)

Something to remember, most of these conditions don't (or don't to our knowledge) affect lions and could be easily swatted aside as such, but KTWL (Kimba the White Lion) is a work of fiction which consistently does absurd things, for example, Great Mother, a surviving mammoth who lives on a magic mountain and has magic powers or a blue lion (no I won't tell you what makes him blue), so I'm willing to brush aside SOME realism... also I researched them so I want to talk about them.

Yes, there is a condition that causes real life white lions, buuuuut I'm saving that can of worms for later.

Easily disproven

These ones don't work for several reasons, I'll be using only the most glaring issues for the sake of brevity.

Vitiligo & flavism: These two conditions happen over the course of one's life, but we see Kimba near birth, and he possessed his white fur.

Chédiak–Higashi syndrome: Causes symptoms (including but not limited to: peripheral neuropathy) which Kimba almost certainly does not have.

Isabellinism: affects only birds and leads to a golden white, not a snowy one.

(An isabellinistic bird, majestic fellow, eh?)

Xanthochromism: Makes things fucking yellow.

(A xanthochromistic (pictured right) and normal (pictured left) Argentine horned frog, so cool.)

Axanthism: only affects things with light reflecting pigments, and can only make things with normally yellow color have white color.

Amelanism: Meaning lacking melanin, so those black tipped ears and tail would be a no-no, yet we observe numerous pelts of his ancestors all with the exact same ears, and, we have reason to believe, the exact same tail (his father also possessed the same tail)

Okay, that was the bulk of the list, we're making good progress.

Maybe

These ones are harder to disprove, but I'd still say they're obviously not what we're looking for.

Piebaldism: Now, this one seems convincing as it can generate black AND white fur, it is genetically dominant, therefore, could lead to the continous lineage (where at least one of few children seems to always inherit it) but it lacks the uniformity, as I said, every white lion posses the same pattern, with few inconsistently appearing exceptions within the franchise, we'll get to that later on, the point is, consistency is the rule, chaos is the exception, and piebaldism is too chaotic.

Waardenburg syndrome: Specifically type two is a strong contender, most notably because it causes bright blue eyes (or a blue and brown eye, sometimes) along with its other effects, HOWEVER, it also causes congenital hearing loss, and in cats (Felis Catus or house cats, technically, but they're the closest comparison I have to lions) said hearing loss is more common and more extreme, I doubt Kimba has that. Type 1 and type 3 cause other malformities that Kimba visibly doesn't posses.

Not sure

I tried, but my research was not conclusive, if you have answers, I'd be glad to hear them.

melanophilin: it is listed, but isn't a disorder, it is a carrier protein, I did some research and disorders with this protein don't seem like they'd make the snow white color we're looking for.

Undisputable

Oh, uh, there's nothing here, we've gone over every major leucistic disorder, there ARE more, but we'd be here all day, and so little is known about them it'd be arbitary.

Well, we're not through with every leucistic condition on the agenda, there's still...

THE CAUSE OF REAL WHITE LIONS

That's right, we've made it.

There's obviously a myriad of similarities, Tezuka was probably inspired by the real life white lions.

For example

The jarringly (among other lions) snow white fur.

(Sorry the images of Kimba's paw sucks, you won't believe it, but it was SO difficult to find a pic online with his paw pads in it, real life white lions? Pfft plenty of pictures in an instant.)

The genetic basis allowing for lineages that share the trait

So then, this is it?... no, no, no, no, sadly, no, not so simple, there is one glaring inconsistency.

Firstly, an aside: I tried researching the specific cause of white lion leucism (it comes from a mutation for tyrosinase) but very little is known about it exactly, though, I gleaned something just by using the oldest tool in the zoology briefcase, me own eyes.

Notice a difference between Kimba and EVERY image of a white lion I've provided? Here, have some more white lion.

From male to female, newborn, to cub, to adult, one consistency that Kimba does not share, maybe you already noticed and want me to get to the fucking point, maybe I will, maybe I won't, okay, I will.

Black fur, Kimba has black fur on the tips of his ears and tail, no image of a real life white lion that I've seen has that pattern, or ANY black fur (wait, did I just retread my point about amelanism? Damn), and I'm lead to believe that does not occur amongst real life white lions, so then...

Kimba is a an anomaly

In the 2009 version the only white lions we see are Kimba and his dad, and his dad lacks the black fur, in the 1989 series the only white lions we see are Kimba, his dad and aunt, both of the latter lack the black fur, but Kimba retains it in all versions.

Perhaps the cause of white lions is the same as real life white lions, and Kimba is a very rare anomaly within an anomaly, I don't know a whole lot about genetics, but that sounds reasonable enough for KTWL standards.

Buuuuuut, every other version, including the manga that started it all has other white lions retain the same color palette, and even show dozens of white lion ancestors, and a DISTANT white lion ancestor who all have the same palette, so, this anomaly theory is ironically only relevent to anomalies, the 1989 series and 2009 movie, what about for the whole franchise, well...

I don't know

Here's where I'd like to pull something out my hat and save the day with the obvious and true answer... but, there isn't one, at least, not one I found, sooooo, yeah, everyone must come to their own conclusion, maybe you even disagree with some of my reasoning and come to a conclusuon I've disregarded!

I'd love to hear your take away, and what comes next is merely my own personal take.

i don't know, and that's the point, I like that conclusion, the Kimba franchise contains mystisms, but never delves into them, leaving them as strange mysteries, it is a story about the exotic, it is ever out of reach.

I choose to believe white lions are semi-magical, thus why Kimba's lineage is the ONLY white lions we see in a franchise that stretches from 1950 to 2009, with over a hundred episodes, thus why white lions seem to always produce a white lion cub, but usually only ONE white lion cub, and the rest resemble the mother, because it works by magic rules.

In the 1989 version(and possibly others) Kimba is directly or indirectly likened to the supernatural, the Great Mother, a huge mammoth who can summon powerful snow storms in tropical Africa treats Kimba as such.

Simply, it can't be explained IRL, that's pretty cool, not everything needs to be explained, and MAGIC!

Hey! I've been off of Tumblr for about a month due to personal stuff going on in my life atm (nothing bad, just really friggin busy!!! 😵‍💫💀) and now that I'm back, I plan to start working on those translations for Kou's Chaos Lineage route! My goal is to have them out by the end of the year. It takes me awhile to translate due to work and school and just moving, but I finally have a bit of down time and plan to work on those very soon 🩷

There should have been plenty of potential candidates.

In which case, it is up to them to prove themselves,

and convince me. 

Socrates: This is a game where they will all fight over the same pawn being ‘Eve’. I shall create the World which will serve as the chess board through my magicーー

And lock the potential Adam candidates as well as Eve inside of it. 

While Adam has already been chosen, I could easily alter their memories somewhat.

Let us conduct an experiment where all of them have been given the same conditions in terms of memories, abilities and status. 

To see who will truly win over Eve...

They can fight over her in their little fabricated world, until but one player remains.

Well then, let us commence the game. Until it’s checkmate. 

Or alternatively...Until somebody breaks the game’s rules.

Until only one person remains on the board,

and as long as nobody commits foul play...

Where on earth am I? 

I was wandering through the darkness. 

When I tried to remember what had happened,

Our story begins right after the precious Supreme Ruler has passed away.

Three different houses will wage war against each other, fighting over you.

I simply took all of it in...

I did not doubt his words in the slightest. 

After all, at this time, I was still incapable,

of experiencing a sense of ‘doubt’. 

I was not capable of breaking through the illusion.

At the same time he spoke those words,

a single light flashed right above me.

While weak, it was definitely shining.

Given as you were here at this Church, there is no mistaking it.

Yui: A-And who might you be...?

( While he does look very proper and his demeanor is polite, his sharp gaze is somewhat terrifying... )

Bespectacled man: Let us keep any self-introductions for later. Unfortunately, there is no time for those right now. You shall be accompanying us to our manor.

Yui: What do you mean by that...? Where are we in the first place? How did I end up heーー

Bespectacled man: I see. ‘You are completely ignorant’...correct?

ー He approaches her

*Rustle*

Yui: Kyaah! L-Let me go!

Bespectacled man: I do not know if you are speaking the truth or simply acting.

Either way, this does not alter the fact that you will be coming with me.

Yui: ( I’m being kidnapped!? I have to run! But he’s too strong, I can’t shake him off... )

???: How cruel to do such a thing to a poor little girl~

Man with hat: You just barely managed to dodge my attack, huh? I suppose I should have expected as much from you, Reiji.

So the Violet House has decided to send Laito as their messenger...And it would appear that Kou is here as well.

( The one holding my arm is Reiji-san...And the two people over there are Laito-san and Kou-san? )

Kou: Listen, won’t you hand over Eve to us? Carla-kun really wants her, you see.

Reiji: I refuse. The next Supreme Overlord shall be none other than me after all. 

Laito: Geez, the oldest sibling of the Scarlet House is so stingy. Wouldn’t you agree, Eve-chan? 

Yui: Eve...

( Right. I am Eve...I wonder why I forgot? )

( These people are fighting over Eve...over me. )

Reiji: I would have liked to have gotten this over with quick and easy, but it seems like some people insist on getting in the way...

Yui: Ah...

Reiji: I shall be your opponent.

Laito: Oh? This doesn’t seem quite right? You’re acting like a noble knight protecting the princess. 

Kou: Exactly, spot on! Even though it’s obvious that Eve will come to our house.

Yui: T-That’s a tough question. I don’t even know you guys...

Kou: Then you can just get to know us! At our manor, that is.

Kou: The Church’ barrier will be dispelled after the Supreme Overlord perishes. 

The one who wakes up Eve who is slumbering there with a kiss, it will open the path to becoming the next Supreme Lord...That’s the story you’re talking about, right?

Laito: It’s the story of Sleeping Beauty.

Yui: ( Barrier...Legend...Supreme Overlord? What on earth are they all talking about...? )

Reiji: It would seem that you have no clue about any of this.

Kou: So she’s completely ignorant to the fact that she’s Eve?

Ayato: Aah? Cut me some slack! Do you have any idea how long we waited for you!?

Laito: I mean, she was asleep this whole time, so we can hardly blame her, can we?

But to do that, we have to take you home with us first.

Day 3: Repulsed (12 Days of Writers Self Love)

Setting: Hermitcraft Season 8, White Wings AU (main story here, this takes place later than where the story is now)

Evil Xisuma’s backstory because I have recently ✨hyperfixated✨

Warnings: violence, mention of neglect, war, implied torture, generally Ex having a bad time and being a bad person :(

Evil Xisuma was used to people hating him.

For the Dragon’s sake, his very name reminded everyone around him that he was nothing but an outcast. Unwanted, unasked for, and despised.

In Voidwalker culture, twins were seen as ruinous bad luck, their birth having toppled many a prominent family lineage into destitute obscurity. The second-born was considered a wicked spirit who formed a parasitic connection with the “real” child, leeching off of the mother and baby to grow itself a living body. Especially when, as in the case of Xisuma and Evil X, the babies were identical twins.

Oftentimes, the unfortunate twin would be quietly disposed of at birth, their existence kept secret from everyone but the parents and the midwives. Evil Xisuma’s parents had often told him how lucky he was that they hadn’t killed him when he was an infant. Truly, he was immeasurably grateful for their mercy.

Evil X had grown up with the bitter reality of being the shamed son. His name, translated from Standard Galactic to Common, literally meant “Evil Xisumavoid”, and that’s what everyone called him. It didn’t take much imagination to conceive of how awful his day-to-day life was during those years.

Xisuma, of course, was the golden child. Academically successful, obedient, unjaded— everything that Evil X was not. Their parents practically doted on him, because he was the “better” son. The “real” Xisumavoid.

Ex had grown far too familiar with the acrid taste of swallowed-back rage. Their parents had stopped forcing him to attend family dinners at age eight, and he had gladly eaten by himself in the kitchen after that, even if the superstitious cooks and cleaning staff shared his parents’ opinions and only gave him cold leftovers. It was fine. He was fine.

Despite everything, he and Xisuma had been close in those years. Xisuma never treated him like a pariah, never shunned him as the black sheep of the family. It would have been against his nature to do so, because Xisuma didn’t have a cruel bone in his body.

They would talk for hours, when their parents were too busy to care about them; they would play games and get into trouble and do all the things that normal siblings were supposed to do. It wasn’t… that bad. Even if no one else gave two mites about him, Ex always had Xisuma. To confide in, to protect from bullies at school, to hug as he cried on particularly bad days. They survived, side by side. But good things don’t last forever.

He was 16 when the war broke out, when the factions of Voidwalkers dissolved into chaos and a mad scramble for power. The militia was calling for one person from each family to enlist, to join the ranks protecting their territory. Go on, take a wild guess which son his parents chose to send.

He shipped out for training on the eve of their 17th birthday. Xisuma had hugged him and made him promise to come home in one piece. His parents told him not to dishonor their family name, which was probably the nicest they could stomach being to him.

The war was hell. Evil X got to see the true depravity people could fall to, on a daily basis. The nastiest part— well, they called them silver bombs. Capsules about half as big as a block that could be launched from great distances, falling among their fortifications, stuffed to the very brim with silverfish trained to rip the flesh from your bones. They were hard to kill and impossible to predict, and he spent far too much time listening to other people scream in agony.

Eight months later, his parents were killed in a bombing raid, and his brother, now an orphan on the precipice of adulthood, was conscripted into the military. Their reunion was grim and tearful. At least they had each other amidst this waking nightmare of fear and blood.

Evil X was captured a while later in a scouting mission gone wrong. His companions were killed in the skirmish, but he was left alive, taken back to their camp and “persuaded” to give up information. He remembered being so angry, helpless to escape or fight back against his captors. Those few nights before the rescue team arrive haunted him the most, left scars that never fully healed.

And then the war was over, and Xisuma and him were escaping through an exploit in the code, a gap in the invisible walls keeping them in the Deep End. But they were different people by then. Cold. Guarded. Broken and reforged into something harder, something that was capable of hurt.

They didn’t split on the best of terms. And years and years later, when he found his older brother again and tried to destroy his new little server out of spite, as an outlet for the rage that still burned hot and bright in his chest, Xisuma looked at him in a way Ex had never seen before. That, when they were younger, would have ruined him to see.

Repulsed.

It didn’t hurt as much as it should have.

Annals of Emperor Wen of Zhou, Part 1 (ZS01)

Redoing my old translation of this. Taizu of Zhou aka Emperor Wen of Zhou aka Yuwen Tai aka Yuwen Heita.

His ancestry and first accomplishments.

The Grand Ancestor [taizu], the Civil [wen] August Emperor, family name Yuwen, taboo Tai, courtesy name Heita, was a native of Wuchuan in Dai. His ancestors sprung from the Flame Emperor of the Shennong clan. He was wiped out by the Yellow Emperor, his sons and grandsons escaped to live in the boreal wilderness.

There was Gewutu, he was gallant, martial, and with many calculations and schemes. The Xianbei admired him, and received him as ruler. Thereupon he brought together twelve sections groups, and for generations [his family] were chieftains.

His descendant was called Puhui. During a hunt he obtained a jade signet with three knots, it had a pattern which said “August Emperor Seal”. Puhui in his heart marvelled at it, and considered it to be a Heavenly conferral. In their custom they spoke of “heaven” as yu宇, and spoke of “lord” as wen文. Following that he titled it the Yuwen state, and also used his clan.

Puhui's son Mona migrated south from Yin Mountain and first lived in west of the Liao. This was the Offering [xian] Marquis, his became the state were Wei's maternal uncles were born [?].

After nine generations [the lineage] arrived at Houdougui, he was wiped out by Murong Huang.

His son Ling served Yan. He was designated Chief Commandant of Appended Horse and ennobled Duke of Xuantu. When Daowu of Wei was about to attack Zhongshan, Ling followed Murong Bao to hold out against him. Bao was defeated, and Ling led 500 armoured cavalry to revert to Wei. He was designated Master of the Chief Herders, and bestowed the feudal rank of Calming and Settling Marquis. Beginning of Tianxing [398 – 404], they moved the prominent and outstanding to the Dai Capital. Ling followed regulations and shifted to Wuchuan.

Ling begot Xi, Xi begot Tao. Both were esteemed for their martial schemes.

Tao begot Gong. Gong relied on chivalry and had vitality and ability. At the end of Zhengguang [520 – 525], Poliuhan Baling, a native of the Woye Garrison, made chaos, distant and near many responded to him. His falsely appointed king, Wei Kegu's followers and partisans were exceedingly abundant. Gong therefore gathered together his home village to behead Kegu. His multitudes then scattered. Later he abandoned the land [for] Zhongshan, thereupon was captured by Xianyu Xiuli. Xiuli ordered Gong to turn back to control his section's multitudes. Later he was routed by the Ding province army, and perished among the ranks. Beginning of Wucheng [559 – 560], he was retroactively venerated as the Potent [de] August Emperor.

Taizu was August Emperor De's youngest son. His mother was called Ms. Wang. When she had been pregnant for five months, she dreamt at night she held in her arms a child which ascended into the sky, not quite reaching it when he stopped. She woke up and told August Emperor De. August Emperor De happily said:

Although he did not reach heaven, the honour is still at the pinnacle.

When he was born, there was a black vapour like a canopy, cover beneath it his body. Coming of age, he was 8 chi tall, with a square forehead and wide brow, and beautiful beard and whiskers. His hair was long enough to heap up on the ground, his hands hung down past the knees. On his back side there were black spots quite moving as if in the shape of a dragon coiling, and his face had a purple shine. People who looked at him respected and were in awe of him. As young he had great measures, but did not serve in his family people's professions. He made light of riches and was fond of giving, and so made connections with worthy gentlemen and grandees.

As young he accompanied August Emperor De in Xianyu Xiuli's army. At the time when Ge Rong killed Xiuli, Taizu was aged eighteen. Rong thereupon relied upon him as a general and leader. Taizu understood he would have no success, and made plans with his brothers with the intentions to flee and escape. The plans had not yet been acted upon when it happened that Erzhu Rong captured Ge Rong and settled north of the He. Taizu followed regulations and shifted to Jinyang. Rong considered Taizu and his brothers gallant and outstanding and feared they perhaps would have differences with himself. He thereupon relied upon another's crime to execute Taizu's third oldest brother Luosheng, and then intended to murder Taizu. Taizu defended himself that his family had been wronged, and explained his purport with brave forbearance. Rong felt it, and pardoned him, and increasingly treated him with respect.

2nd Year of Xiaochang [526 AD, sic, but Ge Rong was only defeated in 528 AD, and Yuan Hao's invasion took place in 529 AD], Yan province was in chaos. Taizu for the first time commanded an army to follow Rong and look into it. Prior to this, the King of Beihai, Hao, had ran to Liang. The people of Liang installed him as ruler of Wei, and made him lead troops to enter Luo. Emperor Xiaozhuang of Wei set out to live in Henei to escape from him. Rong dispatched Heba Yue to chastise Ying, and to continue to welcome Emperor Xiaozhuang. Taizu was old friends with Yue, and he therefore followed Yue as a detached general. When Emperor Xiaozhuang had been turned back to propriety, he was for his merits ennobled Count of Ningdu with an estate of 300 households, and moved to General who Garrisons the Distant and Colonel of Foot Troops.

Moqi Chounu made chaos in Guanyou. Emperor Xiaozhuang dispatched Erzhu Tianguang with Yue and others to chastise him. Taizu thereupon followed Yue to enter the Passes. As the first spear-point he routed the bogus Acting Tribunal Yuchi Pusa and others. When they had pacified Chounu, and settled Longyou, Taizu had merit in most of it, he moved to General who Conquers the West and Gold and Purple Brilliantly Blessed Grandee, added to his estate 300 households, concurrently General Charged with the Chambers, Acting on the Affairs of Yuan province. At the time in Guan and Long there were bandits and chaos, the hundred families were withering and fading. Taizu consoled with kindness and trust, the people all happily submitted. Everyone joyfully said:

Earlier if only Yuwen had been sent to rule, why would we have taken part in disobedient chaos.

Taizu once accompanied several riders into the wilderness. Suddenly he heard the sound of pipes and drums and so questioned accompanying people. Everyone said they had not heard it.

2nd Year of Putai [532 AD], Erzhu Tianguang went east to ward off Shenwu of Qi. He kept behind his younger brother Xianshou to garrison Chang'an. The Inspector of Qin province, Houmochen Yue¤, was summoned by Tianguang, to bring along the army multitudes and go down east. Yue knew Tianguang would surely be defeated, and wished to keep being Yue¤ to plot together against Xianshou, but nothing came out of his plans. Taizu spoke to Yue, saying:

Now Tianguang is still nearby and Yue¤ is not yet of two mind. If [we] inform him of this affair, [I] fear he will be alarmed and afraid. However, though Yue¤ is the chief commander, he is unable to control things. If [we] first explain to his multitudes, surely people will be in a mind to stay. To advance is to neglect the Erzhu's appointed time, to withdraw is to fear people's feelings will change and move. By taking advantage of this and explain to Yue¤, there is no way for the affair not to succeed.

Yue was greatly pleased, and promptly ordered Taizu to enter Yue¤'s army and explain to him. Yue¤ thereupon did not act. Then they led each other to assault Chang'an, and made Taizu with light cavalry be the vanguard. Taizu took into account that Xianshou was timid and cowardly, and that when he heard the various armies were about to arrive he would surely flee eastward, and feared he would hide himself far away. He therefore made forced marches. Xianshou in truth was already fleeing eastward. They pursued until Hua Mountain, and seized him.
