@eliranmhod ‎‏ https://www.instagram.com/p/ClQU50Pqq_3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

(In the name of Allah [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful)
Assalaamu ‘alaikum السّلام عليكم (Peace be with you)
Hiya, Readers :). In part one of this post, we learnt some smashing international endearments. Today, let's discover some more of them, InshaaAllah إن شاء الله (God willing). Happy learning! ;)
Tumblr media
German
German or Deutsch is the Standard German language; developed historically from West Germanic (English Dictionary - Offline). The following is a generous helping of German endearments:
- mousebear = Mausbär (Maus = mouse and Bär = bear in German)

- little deer = Rehlein (Reh = roe i.e. a female deer in German)
- little sparrow = Spätzchen (Spatz = house sparrow in German)
- cute-sweet or cutie-pie = Schnuckiputzi (from 'schnuckelig' meaning, 'cute' and 'putzig' meaning, 'sweet' in German)
- cutey = Schnuckel
- sparrow or little sparrow = Spatz / Spatzi*
- bear = Bär
- mouse or little mouse = Maus / Mausi
- hare or little hare = Hase / Hasi
- treasure or little treasure (English equivalents: darling or sweetheart) = Schatz / Schatzi
- little treasure = Schätzchen
- crumb = Krümel
- angel = Engel
- little angel = Englein
- honeybee = Honigbiene

- pearl = Perle
- Schnucki (no English translation)
- snail = Schnecke
- little snail = Schneckchen
- rose = Rose
- sunflower = Sonnenblume

*You'll notice that the diminutive term "little" crops up a lot in terms of endearment (as '-lein' or '-chen' in German, and more to come in other languages). (Fluent in 3 months)
*The Suffix "-i":
"-i" is used to form terms of endearment, usually tacked onto a person's name (e.g. "Hansi"), a designated family relationship ("Mutti", "Vati", "Omi", "Opi"), and the shortened names of cute animals ("Hasi" [bunny]) - or, in the case of the East-German Trabant, even a car ("der Trabi"). The gender normally remains the same as that of the unadorned noun: "Der Rudi kommt!" But some people, on the analogy of "-chen" and "-lein", prefer the neuter: "Du bist mein kleines Mausi":  "Mausi" (little mouse); "Schatzi" (little treasure); "Spatzi" (little sparrow). (Dartmouth College)
Did you know?
Animal-related names are so common in German that you'll even see them used as the basis of swear words. (Fluent in 3 months)

Did you know?
- "Jaanu" is a term of endearment in multiple South Asian languages used as a pet name to mean "my love" or "dear." Derived from the Hindi/Urdu word "jaan", which literally means "life". "Jaan" itself is derived from a Turkish word "Can" (Turkish pronunciation: [ˈdʒän]) which is a common Turkish and Circassian given name and surname, meaning "spirit", "life", or "heart". This word is believed to have accumulated in South Asian languages after the arrival of Mughals. (Wikipedia)
- The Indian subcontinent has an amazing variety of terms of endearment for the word “lover”. The origins of these terms arise from a wide diversity of languages within the South Asian diaspora, including Urdu, Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Farsi, Arabic and Nepali. (Mr. and Mrs. 55)
Notes:
- "Jaan", in Hindi/Urdu is a word meaning "life" or "loved one"; by that way, also a term of affection meaning "darling". (Wiktionary)
- jaan جان = life, soul, essence, spirit, heart metaphorically; beloved, sweetheart etc. (Persian)
- man من = my (Persian)
- So, "jaan-e-man جان ِ من" means: "my beloved" / "sweetheart" / "heart" / "soul", etc. Both "jaan-e-man جان ِ من" and "jaanam جانَم" are from Persian. Both of them are used in Urdu and Colloquial Hindi and have the same usage. They are gender-neutral endearments. (WR Forums)
- "Jaanam جانم" is actually Persian that came into Urdu and means <my dear / dearest; my darling> - term of endearment. Comes from: < جان life / soul / dearest / darling + م - attached first person pronoun, meaning (my> (WR Forums)
- Delroba دلربا is a Persian word that means: "enticing", "captivating", "enchanting" (i.e. very attractive), etc. The literal meaning of the word is, "hijacker of the heart". (QuranicNames)

Irish
Irish or Gaeilge is the Celtic language of Ireland (English Dictionary - Offline). The following are some irresistible Irish terms of affection:
- pulse of my heart = a chuisle mo chroí (a = vocative particle; cuisle = pulse; mo = my; croí = heart in Irish)
- my pulse = mo chuisle
- my heart = mo chroí (croí = sweetheart in Irish)
- darling = acushla (from Irish 'a chuisle' meaning, 'O pulse [of my heart]')
- dear or darling = agra / a ghrá (from Irish 'a' [vocative particle] + lenited form of 'grá' [love])
- treasure (as a term of endearment) = asthore (from Irish Gaelic 'a' [O] + 'stór' [treasure])
- my darling or my dear = macushla (from Irish 'mo chuisle' [my pulse])
- my love or my darling = grá mo chroí (literal translation: love of my heart)
Did you know?
The use of Irish Gaelic was actively discouraged or suppressed by the British during the 17th-19th centuries, and when this suppression officially ended at the end of the 1800s, general interest in Irish identity and a strong sense of Irish nationalism led to the flourishing of both Irish fiction and verse, as well as renewed interest in Irish Gaelic. (Merriam-Webster)
Note:
Acushla comes from the Irish Gaelic cuisle, which can mean "darling" but more literally means "pulse" or "vein." It's an adaptation of the Irish Gaelic a cuisle ("oh darling"). Cuisle was sometimes also paired with ma to give us macushla ("my darling"). (Merriam-Webster)

@eliranmhod ‎‏ https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci9g2NiK0E_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

יאללה חמודי, בוא נכנס לפרופורציות טוב מתוק? אף אחד לא עומד למות. אתה הולך וחוזר והכל סבבה. או כמו שהחכמים אמרו פעם "אם זה שלך זה שלך. אם לא אז לא" וזה הכל. יאללה, מיינדפולנס עכשיו.
