Rules & Info
The main rule is that you have to include your line prompt somewhere in your fic. Only one line from the prompt list is allowed per fic!
You must be at least 18 at the time of signup to join this fest.
Fics can include any pairing or even no pairing as long as it features at least one of the five One Direction boys.
There is no word count minimum or maximum. Write whatever feels comfortable to you!
Fics are not being moderated, so pretty much anything goes.
All fics must be tagged appropriately!
Fics must be completed at the time of posting.
Moodboards are preferred to accompany fics, but not required if that’s not your thing. If you want someone to help or make one for you, you can message the mod!
Having fics betaed and Britpicked is also preferred, but not required. You can reach out if you need someone!
Questions
Does my fic have to be entirely based around the line I pick? It’s fun if the line is related to the plot, but as long as it fits in there somewhere, you can use it however you’d like!
Can I edit the line I chose? Try not to if you can help it. Adding, removing, or changing a word is fine, but the point is to use the line as it is! If you want to message the mod with your proposed change, you can!
The line I picked has two sentences; can I split them up? Again try not to. A short sentence in between is okay if you really need to, but the prompt submitter put them together for a reason!
What if the line I picked is in past tense, but I write in present tense? By all means, change the line to fit the tense you prefer to write in!
The line I want mentions Harry, but I want to write about Zouis. Can I change the name? It would be nice to keep the line with the original name, but you can change them if you really want to.
Can I switch pronouns in the line to make it Girl Direction or non binary? Sure!
Can I include smut in my fic if I choose one of the prompts from the regular list? Yes, just be sure to tag it appropriately.
Can I take one of the prompts from the NSFW list and make it strictly SFW? No, those prompts are meant to be about NSFW topics.
Can I sign up with my own prompt? No. The point is to use a line someone else came up with; the rest of the lines in the fic are yours!
Can I sign up to write multiple fics? Go for it! But please wait until your first prompt has been confirmed before you sign up for a second.
Can I pick more than one line from the list to include in my fic? No, just one line per fic please!
Can I tell people what line I am writing for? That’s up to you! You can if you want to!

Description and call for proposals:
We are seeking contributions for an edited volume of chapters and essays about the HBO Max streaming series Our Flag Means Death. Contributions may include full-length chapters (up to 5000 words), shorter essays, fan art, or other original work that has not previously been published. The goal of this volume is to celebrate the positive effects of this show on both fans and creators. We hope to include personal and analytical essays or fan works related to any of the following topics or intersections of topics: identity exploration / diversity themes - LGBTQIA+, disability identity, indigenous identity, race or ethnic group identity, age, gender roles, found family or created family; mental health; fandom/fan studies - how the show re-ignited a love of and participation in fan works, fan art, fan fiction, cosplay, cakes(!), conventions/fan communities, fan activism/charity work/advocacy; historical (in)accuracies; production/creative choices - humor, New Zealand humor/culture, costume/set design, etc. If you have an idea that is not listed here, please feel free to submit as long as it relates to OFMD and fandom/fan studies in some way. We are currently exploring publishing options and hope to have more information soon. At this point, contributors will not be paid a stipend, but will receive a complimentary copy of the book.

WHAT: The 2024 Draco/Ginny Summer Fic Fest 4.0 is the Nth annual writing fest devoted solely to the romantic pairing of Draco Malfoy and Ginny Weasley! Look, TBH, I don’t even know how many there have been. But it’s a big number, Our fandom ship has been sailing for a long time, so let’s keep it afloat and bring on more passengers!
WHO: Anyone can join! Current, former, and brand new writers are welcome as long as you have an AO3 account! Don’t have an AO3 account? Contact mod Anise, idreamofdraco, or Chromeknickers to receive an invitation to join. Don’t want to write but still want to participate? We seriously need prompters and readers/reviewers too!

All stories must feature Draco/Ginny as a romantic pairing.
An AO3 account is required to participate in this fest. If you do not have an AO3 account, please let mod Anise know before claiming a prompt.
This fest is anonymous, so do not discuss your prompt or story with anyone other than a mod or a beta, and do not post your story anywhere else except AO3, until the fest is complete and the master list has been posted.
Stories must be at least 1,000 words in length. No maximum word length.
If you need to drop out of the fest or need an extension to the submission deadline, please email the mods at [email protected] as soon as possible.
PROMPTING: Submit prompts through the prompting form. Prompts can be as short as a few words or as long as a paragraph. You can submit as many as you’d like during the prompting period as long as they are submitted one at a time. Submitting a prompt does NOT obligate you to write a story. Anyone can submit prompts whether they plan to participate as a writer or not! Prompts can be submitted using your name, username, or anonymously. You can view last year’s prompts for ideas through a link in the comments.
PROMPT CLAIMING: When prompt claiming begins, a link to the list of final prompts will be posted in the 2024-draco-ginny-fic-fest channel. More than one writer can claim a prompt. A mod will send you a confirmation email with your assigned prompt. Once you receive your confirmation, you can begin writing! Remember that stories will be posted anonymously so only share details of your fic with a beta reader or a fest mod. If you finish writing for your first prompt before the submission deadline, you can submit your story to the AO3 collection early and then claim a second prompt. Prompt claiming will close one week before the submission deadline.
More information about how to claim a prompt will be posted on the official first day of prompt claiming: May 17th.

FAQ
What is a mini bang? How does this work?
This event is mainly a form of collaboration between fandom artists and writers. The event will start with writers creating a summary of their fic and a short excerpt which participating artists will then make artwork inspired by these fanfictions in return. During the reveal timeframe, these works will be made available to the fandom.
You might have taken part in a big bang event before, but this event is intended to be a scaled down version of this. Our word count minimum for participating writers is 3K words and the upper limit will be approximately 20K words. This event will also only span the length of three months in total.
Who can participate? How do I sign up?
Anyone (18+ though)! We do not have any requirements other than age for writers or artists, but we do ask that you join the event in good faith.
Sign-up dates and links to google surveys are listed in the Event Information post pinned to this blog. If you wish to confirm you have successfully enrolled in the event, please contact the mods and will make sure you are.
What level of complexity is expected for art pieces?
We welcome any skill level for this event! All we ask is that your piece is fully complete at the time of posting and is more than just a sketch.
Can I sign up as both a writer and an artist?
Absolutely! In fact, we’re encouraging it! As many of us in the Clone Wars/Prequels/Obi-Wan fandom circles are likely aware, there are not as many artists as there are writers in this particular fandom. We want to ensure all the writers participating are able to get artwork to go with their fanfic.
Can I sign up to make art for multiple fanfics?
Yes, we are also encouraging this! If you are an artist willing to make more than one piece for the event, we would love to be able to use this as an option in the case our writers outnumber our artists (which is very likely). When filling out your sign-up, please answer the prompt regarding how many pieces of art you are willing to make for the event.
Keep in mind, even if you are willing to make multiple pieces, there is a chance this will not be necessary based on the sign-ups from other artists.
Will I need to fill out two sign-up forms if I am planning to be both an artist and a writer?
No, please just indicate on the sign-up form you would like to be both when prompted.
Are the mods planning to participate in the event?
Yes, we are both participating.
What is considered to be “whump?”
We would like the fics and artwork to be whump-centric. What do we mean by that? Well, you just need to hurt Obi-Wan really. It’s up to you whether you want to comfort him or not. We aren’t looking to limit your creativity, just as long as Obi-Wan gets some good old fashioned pain & suffering.
Consider some of the following tags on Ao3 if you want to get a better idea of what we’re looking for: Hurt/Comfort, Whumptober 2023, Chronic Illness, Sickfic, Major character injury, Major character death, Injury Recovery, Whump, Disability
Is shipping permitted?
We would like to keep the primary focus of the event on whumping Obi-Wan. Can that include a relationship? Sure, but we encourage participants to keep this as a secondary aspect of the fic. We want to make sure artists are able to find fics that match their interests and it will be more difficult if most of the fics include ships and our artists are not interested in those particular ones.
Can fanfics and art be NSFW?
Yes. Artists will need to ensure writer prompts and fic information fit within what they are comfortable with during the claims process.
Are there other rules regarding what can/can’t be written about?
No, as long as everything is tagged appropriately. Go buckwild. We encourage violence and crimes (committed against Obi-Wan, of course).
And because it needs to be said, the mods subscribe to the “don’t like, don’t read” policy.
How do artists pick/claim writer prompts?
Before the claims period (exact dates TBD, but the first week of February or January 31st) writers will be required to submit both a summary of their fic, as well as a short excerpt that helps to give artists a good idea of the content of their fic. Additionally, writers will list what rating their fic is planned to be and any warnings artists should be aware of before choosing to work on the fic.
During the claims period, artists will review the writers submissions (which will be anonymous for the sake of fairness) and report which prompts they would most like to work on. From there, mods will match artists to prompts based on their votes.
How long do writers have to finish their fics?
Writers will have approximately 11-12 weeks to fully complete their fics. However, there is an expectation that a summary and excerpt (100 to 500 words) are finished in time for the artist's claims. Currently, the due date for the summary and written excerpts is January 31st. The remainder of the fic can be worked on continuously up until the reveal week.
How long will artists have to finish their pieces?
Artists will have approximately 7-8 weeks to finish their pieces.
Will there be a discord server for the event and is it mandatory to join?
Yes and yes. Sorry dudes another discord for another event. Mostly, it makes it easier for mass communication purposes and will be the main way us as mods will communicate with participants. You are required to join the server and the mods will send a link to the server to you once your sign-up has been approved.
As an aside, we will not be communicating via email throughout the event other than to send a link to the discord server if you would like to receive it this way. Though the sign-ups will require an email address, our expectation is all event communication will take place on discord.
Can fics be shared outside of the event before the reveal week?
No. All fics and artwork should only be discussed with event participants until the reveal week. The only exception to this rule is beta readers, but remind them to practice discretion.
Are there any check-ins?
There will be one check-in for both writers and artists each. This will take place about one month from the reveal week and will serve the purpose of ensuring everyone is on track to finish their work in time.

the cross family, at one time, was well known in the city of new york: and perhaps more unusually, known and respected. daddy is a hanging man consigliere, a gentleman thief, and the hero of his only child. old school and against the grain of the common criminals, he believes thieves have their own code of honour to adhere to. this is how she’s raised, with an underline and a stress on living by said code and the hanging man being family — one that she will one day be a part of. her own learning in the skills and tools of one of their kind begins as early as possible.
in a shift of power among the gang, her father — an outlier resistant to the change, loyal to the current boss — is murdered in cold blood. the remaining cross women flee in the night, warned by a remaining friend that they’re no longer safe in the city. the cross family home has burned to the ground by the time they cross the nyc state lines. it is a tablecloth pulled from beneath young remora’s delicate life: there are no thieves with honour. there is no code.
rage is just misplaced hurt, and with a mother who never recovers from her own grief, remora’s pain grows insurmountable. she channels this into the pursuit of vengeance, taking up with her father’s old contacts to continue training.
it takes nearly two decades before she allows herself the first move, and the step is taken somewhere far from new york: she spoils a hanging man con by arriving first, lifting the target they’re after before they have a chance to snatch it. a little black lacquered box is left in place of the item, baring a small handwritten note inside. a simple oops. in elegant cursive.
she continues this way, unable to outpace a whole organization for more than a handful of jobs, each run against them painstakingly planned out. the equalizing factor is the significance her father had on both herself and the hanging man group — they still use his plans to this day, and nobody knows them better than his daughter.
she returns to new york done with humiliation, and ready for blood. now things are more personal. there’s a list of those involved in the revolt and murder of her father, and she wants them to know somethings coming for them: before she puts a blade in the throat of a sinner on her list, she breaks in to leave another black box with a more descriptive note inside this time: an itemized list of their worst deeds, sins they long thought had been buried. it’s only after their death that remora leaks this information to the public, ensuring mud is eternally cast on their name. as more of these deaths go public, she earns the nickname PANDORA for her black boxes.
the majority of her list is now illegible, soaked in blood, with only a few remaining. whose next?

she lives in a shitty apartment in the bronx. all her money goes into maintaining appearances for the upper crust, buying out contacts/resources & purchasing gear for her vigilante / theft activities, such as her bike and various gadgets. she’s also got a nest egg accumulating on the side, intending to use that to escape when her ruination of the hanging men is complete.
her employment at gravity is under the table. she talked her way into the tax-free income, but it largely serves the purpose of being able to keep an eye on the kinds of people that frequent these establishments — namely the rich and the depraved
working out the details currently, but i’m also picturing her as a hostess at el anhelo, where she’s paid to... juice up the vibes. she’s a “hostess” in the sense that she’s a pretty thing paid to stay around and act like a genuine patron, much like models in club booths. she does not take the pills, and instead collects info on all the shitty horny people out there — makes it easy to add to her sin lists.
a quick study & an exceptional mimic, both in vocal tone and physicality. remora excels at picking up on the small gestures that make up a person.

Gratuitous Sexuality: (i.e. smut, softcore porn) (Please, we know that there is a market out there for stories in this genre, but it’s not for us. Contact our affiliate, Tanglewood press for submissions in this genre at tanglewoodromance (at) gmail.com
Gratuitous Abuse/Violence: While we at Three Ravens Publishing understand that graphic situations can alter or otherwise move the plot forward in ways that the reader may not expect when properly used, these elements should not, however, be the primary focus of the story. (i.e. torture porn).
Discrimination: Again, whether racial, religious, social, etc., when used properly as a plot device can become a powerful tool in the authors arsenal, but should in no way become the focus of the story unless you’re writing something along the lines of “Schindler’s List”, “To Kill a Mockingbird” or “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”. And we do understand that to be perfectly accurate, period pieces will contain such things because historically, that is what happened. It’s sad, but it’s the truth.
Message Fiction: While we understand that everyone has their own stance on a myriad of subjects that can become very emotional and heated, we will not publish message fiction.
Message fiction is defined as: Fiction that attempts to convey a sociopolitical message, as opposed to mere escapism.
That being said, message fiction can crop up from many different topics. The cut and dry of it. If it doesn’t add to the story, don’t do it. If the story itself is a platform for you as the author to get up on your soapbox, then don’t bother submiting the piece, because we don’t want it.
Special Note:
RPG and game-based stories: We do accept these types of stories; however, your submission may not violate any game’s copy written, or trademarked, content. (refer back to the line above on fan fiction. We do not want it and will not accept it.). As an example, you might have a character running around in one of the popular online multiplayer games. You might want to write a story about your character’s adventures. That, in itself, is fine. Do not mention characters, creatures or the game world itself. Rename them to something of your own creation.
We do understand that the muse may strike at any time and that ideas can come from anywhere. So please, before submitting, ensure that what you have submitted will not violate any copyright or trademark laws.
Reprints/previously published: We accept previously published works as long as you have the rights and can provide proof (if necessary). Other than that, we really want to see what you have.
Payment rates: To be determined at the time of the contract and will be in the range of 50-70% of sales, and competitive with other publishing houses.
The hard and fast rules of Submissions: If sending a Query letter, include a full synopsis of the story, the first three chapters as a writing sample and links to your social media pages. Response time may vary. Expect a reply within 9-18 months. We would prefer to see complete manuscripts that have already been somewhat edited by the author.
Note: A contract offer will not be made based on a Query alone unless the work is of exceptional quality. Offers, in general, will only be made on completed works.
Your submission must include your (Legal) name and your (Publication) name if using one, email address*, postal mailing address, and telephone number on both your cover letter and the first page of the manuscript. Include a plot outline if possible.
*Also include links to all of your social media pages
Spelling and grammar checkers are great, but they are not foolproof. Review your work for flow and content prior to submitting it.
Minimal formatting, please!
Indent paragraphs; single or double-spaced text is fine, though we prefer to use 1.15 spacing, with no extra lines between paragraphs; center chapter headers and scene break indicators (###, ***, etc.); use page breaks only at the end of chapters. For emphasis, choose either underline or italics and use it consistently throughout.
Use straight quotes and apostrophes, … ., –, etc, no special characters, please!
Times Roman 12pt is highly preferred. Make it readable, or we won’t read it. It’s that simple. If something specific requires special formatting then explain it in a cover letter.

Electronic Submissions: Neither disks or thumb drives will be reviewed, so do not send them unless requested. Our preferred method is by electronic submission, but we will accept a printed hardcopy.
Attach the manuscript as a Rich Text Format (.rtf) file. Any other format will not be considered.
Send the manuscript as a single file (do not break it into separate chapter files), so any synopsis and contact info needs to be in the file with your manuscript.
NOTE: Any viruses attached to your submission will send your manuscript straight into file-13. (For non-military members, that means the trash can.)
Hardcopy Submissions: (for those who cannot submit electronically)
Standard manuscript format only: double-spaced, one side of the page only, 1/2″ (i.e., 0.5″) margins on all four sides of the page. We will consider photocopies if they are dark and clear.
Title, author (last name only is okay), and page number at the top of each page are mandatory. Include your name, mailing address, and telephone number on the first page.
Hardcopy manuscripts identified as “disposable” will be recycled.
Disposable submissions should be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped, letter-sized envelope for our reply (please ensure proper postage has been supplied!).

E! Winter Fic Exchange 2023/24 - Rules and Infos

Alright, so here’s the rules for the E! winter fic exchange 2023/24, running from Nov 1st 2023 to January 15th 2024. If there are any questions, feel free to shoot me an ask - I will also put together an FAQ post assuming we get any Questions to put in it.
One big change this year is that you will be able to sign up as a pinch hitter (who jumps in to write a fic on short notice if a participant fails to deliver) or writing mentor (to be paired up with participants who can deliver a fic but would like some writerly support) through the regular sign-up form, without participating in the main event yourself.
General Event Details
This is how it’ll go:
You sign up
You are assigned somebody to write a fic for and given a list of their fic preferences. Somebody else is assigned to write a fic for you. You won’t know who’s writing the fic for you until the end of the event.
All fics are posted on AO3 and added into a collection. This collection will hide the works until January 15th.
On January 15th, all fics are revealed, but the author names will remain hidden for another week, to give everyone an equal shot at getting some exposure (and maybe have some fun guessing writers by style, lol)
On [date tbd, likely Jan 20th], the fic authors will be revealed.
Schedule
Signs-Ups run from November 1st at 12:01 AM EST to November 15th at 11:59 PM EST.
Sign-Up will run via a google form linked [TBD].
(You’ll require either a tumblr or Discord account, as well as an AO3 account. Feel free to nudge me for AO3 invite codes should you need one.)
The deadline for posting fics to AO3 will be January 7th, 11:59 PM EST
The fic reveal will happen on January 15th 2024
The author reveal will happen a few days later to give everyone a few days of equal exposure.
Writing
Fics should be between 1000 and 2000 words long - though going under or over is fine, as long as you have a fully fleshed-out story / are SURE you can handle a higher wordcount.
Beta-readers are highly recommended, but not required.
If you have any questions about your assignment, please don’t contact your giftee directly; instead, ask me and I’ll contact then for you so the whole thing remains secret.
Respect your giftee’s boundaries. If they’re not comfortable with certain things as listed on their assignment, don’t write these things. This is the most important rule by far.
Generally speaking: Following prompts is highly encouraged, but not mandatory. You really should stick to people’s preferred characters and/or pairings as the focus of your fic, though. Your giftee’s “don’t want to read about this” preferences, however, are absolute. This goes for rating, ships, and whatever else they may have listed.
Posting
All fics will have to be posted to AO3, in a specific collection, which I will link here once it’s up.
Posting deadline is January 7th 2024 to give me some time to iron out any wrinkles that may arise
In Case of Problems
If there are any issues with your assignments, contact me - ideally as soon as possible.
If you need to drop out, please tell me about it as quickly as you can - you will not get in trouble, and you do not have to give a reason for it. If you have to drop out, we will bring in a pinch hitter to fulfill your assignment in your stead, so nobody will be left without fic. Just please only drop out if you have to, and tell me as soon as you can so we can bring in a pinch hitter on time.
If the fic you write includes something on your giftee’s “Do Not Want” list, you will be given a chance to correct the issue before the posting deadline. If you refuse to do so (or are unable to), your fic will not be accepted for the fic exchange. A pinch hitter will fill your assignment instead, but you can post the fic you wrote independently of the fic exchange.
If you need writing help, contact me and I will do my best to help or find someone else who can.
Extensions: Extensions may be granted on a case-by-case basis. You will need to show the work you've done, and you will need to have a fic that you can feasibly complete within the next few days. You will also need to be willing and able to work closely with myself or another volunteer to make very sure that your fic gets completed on time. Extension are an absolute emergency measure. Do not rely on extensions - if you're encountering problems, please let me know as early as possible so we can find another solution instead.

So it's kinda funny but the #7 song on my Wrapped list is Yo-Yo Ma playing Bach's Cello Suite #1 Prelude and the reason it's so high is I listened to it on repeat for hours on end writing a very very long fic about that song! (Tension and Tonic).
Here's the excerpt of Tension and Tonic that is about the above song:
He starts with Cello Suite No. 1, because, why not start with one. The Prelude is always good for a crowd pleaser, cause it's probably the most famous cello piece in the world. It’s the one Yo Yo Ma plays in the West Wing when Joshua Lyman has a panic attack. It would be cool if there were more pop culture cello highlights, but it's also one of the most elegantly intellectual and perfect songs ever.
Bucky doesn't really feel worthy of Bach, but he also feels like everyone needs to hear it played live, which means people have to be brave enough to play it. He makes his mind focus on the music, closing his eyes and leaning his head back to feel it. G and D, tension and tonic, playing off each other, back to the G again and again, dipping into that low sexy D. Bach, you clever son of a bitch.
Right as Bucky rolls out of the last D bariolage and onto the high G to bust back into G major, he opens his eyes and shakes his hair back out of his face, catches Tall Blonde Dish's eyes and gives him a playful wink. Bucky rolls into the Allemande and sees TBD (Tall Blonde Dish) is still watching him intently, with a pretty little blush high on his cheeks this time. Bucky sneaks a little more eye contact. This is why you memorize music, he thinks. So you can flirt with hot guys. He is going to have to reach out to his old Suzuki teacher (who his mom still cleans house for) and tell her that. She'll crack up. She always could tell when his mind was drifting during performances, even when he was technically perfect.
Note: assuming everyone gets the sample of this song, it cuts out right before it peaks in the D and resolves into G - the exact moment when Bucky shakes his hair out of his face and winks at Steve.

Hmm with Lucy going afloat(?) I’m thinking a visit to Sensually Yours seems fit. Any chance you’ll write Kacy using app controlled vibrators while apart? Like them not figuring out the time difference leading to some interesting situations at work 🥵
Y'all and everyone else should know that I've been planning for their likely separation for weeks. That's why I wrote in a mention to Lucy's vibrator taking up residence at Kate's in the 2x04 fic and Lucy planning a Sensually Yours visit in 2x05. They've made that trip. What they purchased is tbd based on what the upcoming episodes give me. But I have note going in my Notes App that's overflowing with filthy ideas and I'm nearly certain I'll be able to run with a handful of them or other, similarly filthy ideas over the next few months.
I'm very pleased with the direction they've chosen to take Kacy given Yas' scheduling conflict, and I think the smut is going to be tons of fun to write, and challenge me to take my filth writing to the next level.
FaceTime and app controlled vibrators are on my list. Whether they happen depends on what we learn about the communication situation in 2x08. Aircraft carriers aren't completely isolated and I imagine she'll dock at port occasionally, so this won't be a sub situation where they are out of contact for significant stretches. So I'm confident I'll have plenty of leeway to play.
