Thoughts about ROTB

I expected an action blockbuster and I got an action blockbuster. I am neither dissapointed nor pleasantly surprised. It's not something I would have bothered to watch much less drag my friends if it weren't Transformers, but under those expectations, it's a perfectly enjoyable movie.

Well, let's talk about what I care about most: Optimus. I was expecting him to be angry and jaded from the trailers and he was. I do kinda like that since he was given a reason to and he became his more gentle self by the end. I mean people looked at the camera to explain his deal which is eeeh, but I don't expect subtle characterization from these thigns, so it's fine. At least he was given something compared to mostly everyone else who didn't get much in terms of character so I can't complain. I do like that he blames himself for everything and externalizes that, reminds me of IDW1. What was a bit jarring for me is his disregard for humans, I don't mind an OP that's violent or angry, but an OP that doesn't care for all life is eeeeh? Well, I guess they needed to give him an arc and he gets over it, he was having a rough time. I liked him pleading to Noah instead of blasting him. Also him being like "I'm going to do extreme acts on violence on Scourge" due to him killing Bee. When he rips off Scourge's head spine included that was sexy. His seriousness was effectively used for comedy so that was nice. I feel I still would have liked something different but eh, what did I expect, really. It's fine.

Noah was good too, again no subtle characterization here, but he wasn't an annoying protagonist or anything. He was fun to follow and I like how he inmediately volunteers to go look for the transwarp key.

Mirage really was the highlight of the movie, he was so fun. Oh I love him. His interactions with Nova were great. My friends were shipping them.

Primal was nice. So was Elena.

Wish Arcee had gotten more, and I wish Rhinox had gotten actual lines, but ah, the movie barely had time to do all it wanted to do. Sucks because I feel like if we had gotten more of Bee and Optimus, his death and Optimus reaction to it would have been more effective, there really weren't particulary interesting dynamics. But I mean, at least they cared to try to endear you to the characters. I'm told by my friends that this was was better tahn Bayverse and Sam Witwicky. But I feel Bumblebee with its more contained story did better in this regard.

Ironically, even tho I was the one who cares about Transformers and asked my friends to comes, they are the ones who watched the Bay movies while I haven't.

Bee should have stayed dead. I mean, I knew he was coming back because trailer, but he should have stayed dead. It did make me sad that he died and reviving characters feels so cheap to me. Also, it would have confirmed that this isn't the same universe as Bayverse.

Like seriously, what's the status on that, this is very important, how do I tag this movie in my continuity tags???

Nice that they bothered to say the aliens aren't the cause of all the things pre-colonial did. I mean, the bar is on the fucking floor for this sort of thing, but yeah

Friends asked if the Inti Raymi was legit or if this was a James Bond Día de Muertos sort of deal. It seems part of the Inti Raymi celebration takes places in the Sacsayhuamán ruins were the Autobots arrive and were completely empty.

Anyway, I likes the action!! I loved the transformations so much, they were extremely sexy. Friends say that they likes these designs better, but the action wasn't as bombastic as the Bay movies and the CG wasn't as well integrated at times. But honestly it was all good enough for me. I have no complaints. That time Mirage transformerd to turn around while on the car chase, ah, so good. I really would watch this again just to see the robots move.

she's not dead, don't worry. would take more than a regular bullet (and even more than one silver bullet, unless it landed just right) to fell a werewolf. those things are built like fucking tanks. robin? eeeeh, not so much! better find that bitch and get her to dr. nancy's hospital asapalapogus. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?: If you speak the language, go for it! I always work in a translation in if I add something in Spanish so people don’t have to look it up, too. Otherwise I think--unless you can be 100% certain that your dialogue is accurate--it’s better to err on the side of caution and write the dialogue in English while indicating it is being spoken in another language somehow. (Cody); I write what I know and use other languages sparingly, like in terms of honorifics in the new Word of Honor fic I’m writing or the actual language’s words for father and mother in both that and our Black Panther fic. I unabashedly DESPISE TCW and all Disney not-Star Wars (I have watched the first season of The Mandolorian and so far that’s been the most tolerable out of all the Disney not-Star Wars to come out and that’s with me viewing it through the lens of ‘this is an entirely separate work, it has nothing to do with Star Wars’, but with what’s been spoiled of the second season I’m just further in eeeeh no thank you, bye mode).

Yes. Not-Star Wars. I did not spend hours ignoring my schoolwork reading EU novelizations and comics with real risk of grounding, only for the Mouse to just throw it out the window. No, fuck you, Mickey. Fuck you very much. Kyle Ron and the rest of that retcon shit show can burn in Greek fire, then fall in a black hole. Obi Wan is a good Jedi. He is a horrible Master for Anakin and Qui Gon would have done better because he at least understood Anakin didn’t have the “benefit” of being brainwashed from infancy. Better than many; my workplace is considered essential, so we never had a layoff or office shutdown. We have, however, been forced to pick up demand from clients who’s OTHER suppliers have been shut down, so for a two month stretch we were working seven days a week without break. Things have gotten closer to normal schedule-wise recently, but we’re keeping all or our screening procedures in place for the foreseeable future.

2. STRANGE FACT ABOUT YOURSELF: Never broken a bone, uh... I dunno, I’m super simple and unexciting.

3. TOP THREE PHYSICAL THINGS YOU FIND ATTRACTIVE ON A PERSON:  It’s all in the voice for me. I’ve noticed that I usually grow to like things about people, person to person. A nice smile is also a big plus? But ultimately if I don’t like your voice... that’s a deal breaker.

4. A FOOD YOU COULD EAT FOREVER AND NOT GET BORED OF:  Garbanzo beans.

5. A FOOD YOU HATE: Eggplants, mushrooms, anything too tart that hurts my teeth.

You don’t need to be ‘good’ all the time or ‘perfect’. The rest... I can’t change the rest. There’s a lot of things that could have made things better, but they would involve changing what others did and that’s no good. I can only do better from here on out. I wish I’d learn to hold my tongue a bit more, I guess, and maybe be a little less trusting instead of getting emotionally screwed over.

10. ARE YOU AN AFFECTIONATE PERSON: Extremely if I like you and otherwise not at all. I’m really bad at grand gestures or presents or sending flowers or those kinds of things and really good at little things like bringing someone water or getting them a blanket or checking in on them and so on. Lately I don’t really feel as affectionate but... it’s something that builds up with comfort, I guess. I’m pretty open about telling people that I love them platonically, though I guess I also do that less nowadays too. I thiiink, it’s probably Crowley. I just adore his awkwardness, and GQ energy, along with his style and love for his car.

eeeeh, Jennifer Keller probably. I never really grew that fond of her and when she was reduced to pretty much a forced love interst ...

I am somewhere in the middle of Season 2, so I gotta say it’s probably the last episode of S1 because of this conclusion and how soft Hardy becomes.

Depends what I want. Echos is pretty great because it’s “easy drama”, The Siege is superb for action drama, while Sunday is for broken hearts.

A G E S ... I think I started with 16. I made gifs of it in 2013, and that was already re-watching. So yeah, ages.

During a sleepover, the others had to watch this new episode of this show called “Avatar” - mind me, we were 13/14 - and I had no clue. But it looked fun, so when I needed something to watch during summer, I decided to search for it and fell in love as well.

I side with Imaani, though it’s a different show, and go with David Tennant as well

At this moment 2. SGA and XF have become comfort food shows, old loves that you can always rekindle.
