Production Diaries - Rotoscoping

In this lesson we were given the task to find a short video and create a rotoscope animation from it. This means drawing over the video frame by frame and creating a very interesting looking animation that has inconsistent lines, which in my opinion give it more personality and allow the artist to leave their mark and add things to make it personal to them.

This can be shown in the above photo, which is of my groups rotoscope. We all had a go at drawing different sections of the people from the hair, face shape and features. This really shows the different types of styles from each person and allows them to draw over the image as they see fit.

Summary

This was a fun task to do and will definitely affect my future animations, especially if they contain tricky movements to draw that will be much easier to draw from a real source. I will consider using this method for my FMP if I decide to implement animation into it.
