Because I missed the rewatch for the beginning of season 3, im dropping my live reactions below for the first two episodes. Season 3 is my favorite season so very excited we're here for the rewatch. This is the season I started watching live but I don't think I caught up until like 3x06.

3x01, The Big Chill:

I really love the cut from Owen's "and we never give up ... Until hell freezes over" to the blizzard like 7 months later.

I feel like we start with the turtle people too early. The amount of screen time that passes between them discovering the kid under the ice to when TNT gets there feels waaaaaaay too long. One of the more clunky pacing issues for me.

I don't love the Paragon Blue on any of TNT 😭

The camera work on the Paragon boss saying "this company's mission is to not only provide elite care but quality comfort" as he walks in front of the mission statement on the wall is top tier. That's comedy

Ahhh I never noticed Nancy using a ginger beer substitute for TK 🥺🥺🥺 best friends

I wonder how many 126 hangs they've done since the break up. Or is this one the first one?

The LACK of PAINT on Judd's PAINTBRUSH is so funny

I remember being so excited for Julie Benz when she showed up in this show. But I hate what they do with her later in the season. She doesn't really give off stalker vibes in these episodes. I am very tickled by the fact that Julie Benz, Gina Torres, and later Amy Acker are all in this show. Just needed them to all share a scene for a true Angel reunion.

Love TNT briefly running into Mateo on the ice beheading scene. Their little waves to each other and the "good to see you too" is so sweet and sad

Marjan tells Billy that #firefoxx is back up to 7 million followers. What does this mean? Does she mean her Instagram followers? Why is it "back up" to that number? Why did it go down? I know theres probably a way to follow a hash tag on certain sites but shes exclusively always talking about insta. Can you do that there?

Once again I am asking Lone Star to stack the bench of the 911 call center. I need to get to know more of them than just grace!!!

It is really cool to see multiple firehouses coming together to help with the collapsed roof.

The last time TK sees Carlos before he becomes a Popsicle is Carlos rushing out of the furniture store, off to an emergency Carlos barely explains. Idk why thats a matter of note but he must have been like, what the hell was that all about. and then 🥶

For real though, we don't even make it back to the turtle people in the first episode?????? Idk, i feel like the build up to that rescue isn't necessary. It's too long of one.

3x02: Thin Ice

starting on the kid in episode 2 starts the build up over so seeing the turtle people first feels even more unnecessary.

I don't know fire fighter protocol but would it actually be okay for Mateo to stay behind at the roof collapse and not go with his house when they are called elsewhere?

I think what also makes the boy ice rescue feel so long and so unrealistic is that the close of the cold open ends with the turtle crawling over the boys face. The next time we get back to that rescue, grace picks up the 911 call from the woman who has already gone a whole block away to call from a landline. There's a disconnect in the scenes here. With the couples discovery of the boy being the first scene of the previous episode, it's unclear how much time has passed since the boy went under. She tells grace it's been at least 5 minutes since they showed up on the scene but since they split up the scenes of the boy going under and the couple showing up there's a lapse in urgency. I think this would have worked so much better if they just cut the discovery of the boy from episode 1 and just put it in 3x02 in chronological order of events. And then it cuts to TNT arriving but theres no indication of how much more time has passed. It's really kinda annoying. As an audience member all I can think about is the boy being underwater and the show taking their sweet ass time to get around to this rescue.

Every time TK says "I was a fire fighter in New York" all I hear is Britta's "I lived in New York" throughout the run of Community. 😭😭

Gahhhh and we don't even go back right back to that rescue after commercial break. Sorry ya'll I never realized how much this pacing bothers me until I decided I was gonna live blog this.

These episodes are such great Paul episodes. I feel like that gets kinda lost in all the Tarlos drama.

This girl Lindsey has such low self esteem. Her and Paul's interactions throughout this episode is such a wonderful little story of finding confidence. They should bring her back at some point so we can see her thriving!!

For once can we see TK do a cool rescue where he doesn't end up mortally injured??

It bugs me that none of these people are wearing hats or scarves or anything

I saw someone else say this on here and I apologize for forgetting who it was but it is kinda weird that these paramedics don't get TK to perform any warming techniques after that dip into the water though I suppose they all three are more concerned about the boy, which is understandable. Still ... Kinda weird to not be able to multi task as medical first responders

And still no reaction from TK's "I can relate" comment. Hes literally sitting there shaking!!! Lol

Ok like I know there are stories of people surviving drownings even though they were under for awhile. It's just the pace of this rescue stretches it out soooooo long that it seems unrealistic especially with how the kid just wakes up coughing a bit of water. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

The way you can see TK walking off in the top left corner of the screen 🥶🥶🥶🥶

Sometimes I just gotta laugh when the show has the paramedics spout off all the medical buzzwords so the audience understands what's happening. Tommy explaining the symptoms of severe hypothermia TO TK is so funny for this reason. He knows, Tommy knows, Nancy knows, so let's hop to it but only after we explain it to the audience 😭😭😭😭

It's been 2 weeks now and I still can't get over how great the LS season 3 finale was.

Rewatching the scenes where the 9/11 melted metal that Owen keeps on his desks hits differently than before we knew he had been trapped in the rubble, before we saw a representation of his PTSD in Manny.

The line "No one's asking you to forget brother." Is my favorite line of the scene, it really speaks to who Owen is and how he handles his issues.

The proposal doesn't lose any of its magic, even after an uncountable number of watches. The touches, the way that TK didn’t doubt how Carlos would answer, Carlos being sleep confused and then so consumed with love for the man that has committed to him with the words that he needed to hear, TK acknowledging how big his love is for Carlos and wanting Carlos to feel safe in their relationship.

Every single second of that scene was beautiful and perfect and fit who they are.

-side note: the giggle TK does about the lizard always reminds me of Michael J Fox. It just sounds like him from Back to the Future.

The engagement reveal was so fun. I did think it was funny that Paul, Marjan, and Nancy all say almost the same thing "Amazing spread", "This looks amazing", and "Nice spread" (the last is based of memory of what Nancy said.) It makes me laugh and I just think that the writers gave all their words to the Owen, Judd, and proposal scenes, so they just tossed in some words.

I love how TK is literally vibrating while they are trying to tell their friends their news, his super goofy forced smile is hilarious. Carlos just wants to tell their friends that they are engaged, but they are too smart and figure it out on their own. His expressions are always gold.

Then we have Mateo, and his adorable confusion. Paul, Marjan, and Nancy were so cute in their excitement. I loved this scene so much.

The dude that Wyatt wants to work for is quite the douche. I love how he was so intimidated by Judd's huge crutches. Judd's "I'm a firefighter" in response to the douche telling him he was a cripple was one of my favorite season 3 Judd moments.

I was glad the dude realized that Judd was trying to keep them alive, and then actually helped Judd get out, but he is still a douche and I wouldn't want my kid to work for that ass.

Really just an overall great episode.

I throughly enjoyed every single minute of the LS season finale. Everytime I rewatch, I find something else to obsess over.

The proposal was absolutely the best, and most authentic a proposal could possibly be. Ronen and Rafa truly went all in on that scene, the joy just gets stronger with each view. TK's giggle about no lizards, the constant touching by both, the tears, the words.

Owen's hallucination of Manny from 9/11 was such an incredibly powerful scene. The way Owen didn’t realize he was hallucinating until Manny told him his daughters ages when he died was so well done, by both actors.

Having Manny, a man he was unable to save on what was arguably the worst day of his life, be the one to tell him that he needed to let it go, stop planting himself in his tragic past. This whole scene was so tragically beautiful, that even after like 20+ watches I still tear up.

The scene of them bringing Owen out of the building with a mix of 9/11 NYC responders & Owen's new team was incredible. The way they went about including 9/11 in this silly wee woo show, was done so intricately and with respect to those who were lost, in a way I don't recall other shows doing.

There were a few times I wondered if they had actually dropped Jim down an actual floor, his voice was full of so much real pain as he was talking during the entire episode. Judd and Grace scenes never miss.

The whole cast and crew made this whole episode so absolutely amazing that I literally can not stop watching it. There really wasn't a single step missed. Every member deserves any accolades they receive, probably more to be honest.

I've seen people say TK uses physical touch/sex as a distraction from his feelings and actually talking to Carlos about things but I'm wondering if it's him trying to show love in his love language? Or maybe tk is just really thirsty bc Carlos always just looks like That? (bc same tk, same.)

As LL answers anon asks from a month ago, I appreciate you bearing with me. Dear nonny, I held onto this one because it's an important beat to me in 3x13 and I wanted to give this ask it's due.

I think that physical touch, for TK specifically, holds a couple different bits of significance. I'll get into it under the cut.

We all know by now that physical touch is a big part of TK and Carlos's love language. They're like puppy level of physicality with each other from the start. Even when they're somewhere between FWB and Boyfriends in season one, they have a deep casual physicality. 1x05 is a great example of this (including that still of the deleted scene that is the thumbnail on hulu). We have the missing tamale scene but we can see Carlos wrap himself around TK from behind (a favorite Carlos move), and then when they come to pick up Paul, Carlos and TK are side by side their shoulders touching. In the club, TK reaches for Carlos and wraps Carlos's arm around his shoulders.

As things develop between them, this only grows more pronounced. As recently as last episode, while it wasn't a huge Tarlos heavy episode, in 3x17, when Carlos shows up, before he goes to get his chili that he came for, he stops and runs his hand down TK's chest before Mateo distracts him. Similiarly, as medical gets called while Carlos gets his chili, TK reaches out to scratch at Carlos's back as he leaves.

So yes, I think part of it is physical touch in general is part of how they connect. Even Carlos starts that scene in 3x13 by coming over and doing his signature wrapping himself around TK from behind move.

But in 3x13, the thing people were talking about is TK turning the conversation and the physicality sexual.

So, the sexual connection has been there from the beginning with TK and Carlos...we all remember the first 15 minutes we knew them...and it's a lot. It's an important part of their relationship even if we haven't seen the end result of it this season, we've seen some starts-like the way Carlos drags TK down to the couch in 3x04 and the end of the opening scene in 3x13.

BUT, when TK isn't doing well, mentally, he often shuts down the physical touch stuff, and that we've seen consistently over the past two seasons. In 2x04 when Carlos is trying to pretend like everything was fine TK keeps a solid space between them and won't let Carlos touch him. In 2x12, once again, when TK gets physical it's violent and when Carlos tries to hold him TK freaks out. In 3x04 Carlos feels touching TK while he's unconscious would be a violation which made me wonder what happened in the loft fight. When we open in 3x08 TK is entirely shut down and while he lets Carlos touch him, TK doesn't reciprocates until after the plane disaster (Aside for reaching out when he realized Carlos wasn't coming along for the ride), when he was closer to himself because he'd done his job on the plane and now Carlos was distraught and TK was able to comfort him. At the end of 3x13 when Carlos comes home to find TK on the couch with the photo albums, he sits right next to TK on the smallest section of the couch and at one point reaches his arm around TK to either hold him or rub TK's back. When Carlos does that though, TK pretty quickly decides to go to the bedroom and be alone. Even when Carlos comes to get him and insist on TK getting up and eating, he doesn't breach into TK's personal space. TK reaches out afterwards, when he realizes what Carlos has done and that he's going to leave.

So, TK being able to initiate touch at all, let alone sexually, is a HUGE indication, TO ME, that his work at his meetings and with Cooper is allowing TK to come home as a full partner to Carlos.

Additionally, y'all, Carlos is trying really hard to drown himself in TK's addition in 3x13 and it's really uncomfortable to watch, for me. Carlos is leaning on some pretty codependent behaviors to be the person that TK unburdens all of that on. And it makes sense for Carlos, he is a control freak and he cannot control this, but he wants to. TK is his person and his well-being is so essential to Carlos.

BUT both TK and CARLOS deserve a relationship that exists beyond TK's addiction. TK has, at the point he comes home in the opening Tarlos scene in 3x13, spent at least four hours processing his addiction, his cravings, and made himself safe to come home. Then when he comes in, he shared about what happened in general beats at his meeting, that he asked Cooper to be his sponsor, noted that Carlos's research aligns with what he and Cooper talked about, gives over a big revelation of what Cooper said that he's thinking about and thanked Carlos for all that he does to support TK. And then TK's done. He's ready to get this shirt off of his boyfriend's chest, because that's why he's doing all of this work, so his addiction doesn't swallow them both whole. So they can get back to a sexual level of physicality that had been missing since Gwyn's death.

Again, with Carlos in yoga clothes doing yoga...TK was restless sure, but he's not blind. He was very distracted by the sweatpants, and frankly, considering the gifs and comments, so were y'all. You cannot blame the man. Group therapy sessions seem to work really well for TK and he doesn't have to worry about Carlos's feelings as he processes his own in those settings.

Because, here's the thing, when you are a person with mental health struggles with a partner with mental health struggles, you can get into a spiral with each other when one of you is going down. If you don't think TK isn't intimately aware of Carlos's anxiety and his feelings of responsibility, well, you've missed the way he shoulders the burden of Carlos's feelings in 2x12 and 3x08 at the end of the episode. He knows how Carlos gets, and the depth of TK's addiction is a place where that anxiety can run wild. It's not up for Carlos to hold it, even if he wants to.

And we know TK has used sex, particularly with Carlos, to feel something again when he's numb. That was a season one coping technique. His interactions with Carlos in 3x13 don't read the same as their early sexual interactions in 1x02 and 1x03 or even how he strides into the bar when he just wants to feel something.

So, the short answer is, yes and no. Sure, it might be a way of moving Carlos off of a conversation TK is done with or has answered or because he's thirsty af for Carlos and because he WANTS to be sexual with his boyfriend again for the first time in awhile. And their relationship should be more than TK's addiction. Everyone is more than their worst moments, and their sexual connection is an important part of that.

Author's Note: Title from In the Stars by Benson Boone. Cassi sent me this song and I’ve been listening to it a lot on my drives I thought of this idea so here it is. Remember this is slightly canon divergent so not everything might line up with canon but I did the best I could to make it mostly canon. Though it did, at times, take on a mind of its own. This fic means a lot to me. I spent 6 months writing it and it grew to be this epic -what I think - a masterpiece and I have a few others planned to go on with this fic. I hope you guys enjoy it. I would love to know your thoughts so please drop your thoughts in a comment, send me a DM, or an ask. I'm so nervous to post this dnsndj I hope you all enjoy it and take time to read it. I know it's long.

Past Sundays would have found Carlos awake early and in the kitchen, making breakfast for him and TK because it was their favorite day. After TK got hurt again, they had made a promise to each other that they would always set aside one day of the week that would be their day. A day that they would set aside for time with each other, a day where their attention would only be on each other and they would ignore - within reason - outside forces. It took a lot of begging, graveling with their captains, and promises of picking up an extra shift if needed, but they were both able to get Sundays off so they could enjoy the act of just being together. It was important to both of them that they had one day to stop and enjoy each other’s company and remember that they were important to each other - not that that fact was often forgotten.

Carlos would always start with making a pot of coffee and let the smell of it fill the townhouse. It was a dark roast that both he and TK were fond of. It always made Carlos chuckle to make it because he knew that TK was going to load it down with sugar and cream, ruining the taste of it in Carlos’ opinion, but he was still fond of how TK did it; he had given up on trying to convince TK to get one of the sweeter coffees so that he could add fewer things to it. Carlos would make himself a cup and enjoy the morning paper before he would start breakfast.

Sunday had become pancake day for breakfast. It hadn’t always been that way when they started setting the day aside for each other, and Carlos couldn’t remember what had prompted them to decide that they were going to have pancakes each Sunday, but it was enjoyable. Carlos liked to challenge himself and each week he would come up with different ways to make the pancakes so that they wouldn’t grow tired of it.

Eventually, the smell of coffee and pancakes drifting through the townhouse would wake TK and he would wander into the kitchen, most often blanket still wrapped around his shoulders. TK would mutter a good morning, sometimes complaining that morning came too fast, and Carlos would wordlessly hand him a mug of coffee and kiss his temple. He would urge his sleepy boyfriend to go back to bed and tell him he would bring breakfast to bed when it was down. 

After a few more kisses were exchanged, Carlos would watch TK shuffle back to bed with a soft smile on his face. He would finish breakfast, make two plates, and put them on a tray to carry up and into the bedroom. It was always a 50 / 50 chance whether TK would be awake and drinking his coffee, or asleep with his cup sitting on the nightstand beside him. If he was sleeping, it was never tough to rouse him again and convince him to wake up for breakfast - and more kisses, of course.

They would eat and laugh together and then later, with their dishes cast aside, they would enjoy each other in bed before taking an after-breakfast nap and then spend most of the morning cuddled in each other's arms. The afternoons were always reserved for going to the Reyes’ for Sunday dinner. 

It was always a time when they could just be together and enjoy being in love. Even when the townhouse burned down and they had to move in with Owen for a while, they still found ways to make their Sundays special to them. They might have looked different, but they were still filled with love and taking time to be together. It was the one little bit of normalcy they had when everything went up in flames.

But all that was before.
