haha maybe one of the primary reasons that harry finally goes to therapy after the game (41st being a busy station, and harry not remembering a single thing, and kim transferring might not help too much with leaving everyone with a ton of free time) is how he realizes how much hes started idolizing kim. his own innocence right in front of him. staring up at him like he did a broken stained glass windown not so long ago. maybe his final push to prioritize getting therapy, not letting this all too familiar feeling take him over again. he might not remember exactly but hes seen what it resulted in first hand, hes experienced it. 
third times the charm, this time it might completely tear both of them down, untill there is nothing left. there is remnants of the previous two times within him and jean and in a bit of everyone around them. harrys bearly starting to connect the dots of his previous life but he knows for certain it would be the last time if he spirals into this obsession again.
(i like to think that a bit after jean and harry met and became partners at 41st, they dated for like a month max. harry was still reacently recovering from the breakup with dora and jean was there as a sort of savior from that. right person wrong time sort of thing ig? then broke up after realizing how fucking bad it was for both of them. maybe they still might be a bit bitter it didnt work out and maybe they still want it to but in the end it was better (not by much) for eveyone like this)
the ending where kim joins 41st (ive only played that one so far and havent watched any of the others yet, but man its been living in my head rent free) is such a catalyst for change within 41st. one of the top detectives from an other station is already going to be such a big help to lessen the stress and workload for the others already there. kims arrival, and harry seeking therapy (hopefully jean too that bitch needs it a shit ton too), it gives the whole station time to breath, to truly catch a break. with a slightly lessened work load on each of the members, they have time to focus on things other then work, to not have to drink themselves into amnesia on the job (*cough cough* harry- but imo jean and the others just as much, theyre more responsible on the job but its hard as fuck on them too, especially with harry pre game) 
within time, lots of time, they can all grow close again, harry can get to know each of them over again and things can not just go back to the way they were but better 
thats what i wanna think anyway, pls just let then be happy oml

y’all ever think about how Harry loved Dora to such a degree it was worship, she wasn’t his lover but his savior, his deity, a symbol of the good and the lovely in the world - and she’s portrayed as Dolores Dei because of this, because his love was his religion and he put her on such a pedestal that when she left it absolutely destroyed him (because what else would losing your salvation, your hope, your god, do to a believer?) And how this comparison is a warning of putting someone, anyone or anything up so high and believing it can do no wrong, only to be devastated when it leaves. How she’s also the middle/upper middle class who can just leave the conflict, decide to fly away because they have the money and means, and leave the ‘poverty stricken fucks’ behind. The danger in placing blind and total faith in something that tells you (or that you tell yourself) its morality is infallible, and it will be forever, because you will be blindsided when it leaves or does something terrible, and that utter devotion will be the dagger you fall on when this clean and holy thing, this love, leaves you for something better, betrays you in the worst way.
y’all ever think about the comparison between Dora and Dolores Dei and moralism and middle class with the religious themes, how love is just as dangerous as wrath and despair and ego, how Harry wasn’t great, not even good, but there was nothing he could have changed. the layers of how he has to learn to live for himself instead of the woman who left him half a decade ago, how Dora is Dolores Dei is Moralism and the privilege to stay neutral with the ability to leave when things are rough, how he has to pull himself out of his misery and try his best and it’s not always enough it’s not going to stop the nightmares it’s not going to bring that holy love back it’s not going to save him, but it has to be better than nothing.
y’all ever think about that beautiful stained glass wall in the old church, Dolores Dei larger than life, a picture of innocence so lovely and divine - but all it’s ever been was glass, and it’s shards are all over the hardwood floor.

FASCINATING to me that in lashing out against the skua, a symbol of Revachol, Harry also destroys a symbol of reality itself. Not only that, but the discovery of the Insulinde that the skua represents is what leads to the proclamation of Her Innocence Dolores Dei. It's truly everything Harry is trying to run away from, all tied up in one neat little bow.
So he fucks it up, he destroys that reality, and then, ta-da! Mission accomplished Harry-boy, you wake up in a hostel room and can't remember shit. It's all gone. You got rid of it.

Nuclear hot take on a possible motive for the Lund sisters. We know what they did (erase themselves from history) and we know they wanted to do it (they knew where they'd end up and were looking forward for Zigi to join them there eventually), but why?
It starts from the infamous "Luiga says that he and Kurvitz say that a certain forum post is is correct in positing that Dora is, somehow and to some degree, actually Dolores Dei herself". Specifically, the post says that there was a human Dora who was overtaken by something like an archetype and lost herself into being Dolores Dei.
As a secondary premise, it is possible that Noid was literally right when he suspected Dolores Dei in particular of being somehow not entirely human, an immortal of some kind: in the final dream, she mentions the something or something else of immortality, crown scepter and thingamajig that were "passed onto her by the rulers of late antiquity". She just might have already been around in Perikarnassis' time, before the isolas split. Like, separate from the Dora thing, the game tells us that Dolores Dei was chummy with the rulers of late antiquity, a good few thousand years before her historical relevance.
My impression is that this same... potential for being Dolores Dei... ...somehow... is shared by the Lund girls. Source:
similar if not outright same surname (after all, Jean lampshades twice that he's not sure about Ingerlund being Dora's surname, in a way that may hint at some upcoming twist),
the whole peaches of immortality detour (I'll leave the specifics to Estonian speakers but I'm told it's functionally the same as Dora's apricots, to the point that an older pdf had a stray "apricot" instead of peach)
and, most importantly, Zigi's omen of destruction as he meets Charlotte. She's flat out described as having footsteps that spelled the destruction of Iilmaraa, which just so happens to be where Perikarnassis was, bundled with its rulers of late antiquity (I can do the geographical conspiracy board on a separate post if anyone's interested).
I think that Dora meeting Harry and Charlotte meeting Zigi is the beginning of the same story, one that may have been repeating since antiquity if we take this literally as well. Harry and Zigi, too, famously share an archetype of sorts, by virtue of being overt, straightforward Kurvitz expys. We even have the same emphasis on their cool leather jackets. For the middle class girls, this contact outside their gilded world sparks change. But here is where their stories diverge: Dora eventually rejects this change and falls into the comfort of being bourgeoisie incarnate. The Lund sisters, on the other hand, emphatically go "fuck all y'all" and choose to annihilate themselves.
Sooo, based on these totally solid premises that aren't a stretch in any way whatsoever (source: my beautiful mind, also it was revealed to me in a dream, and also fayde dot co dot uk), here's the take:
By virtue of this parallel between them and Dora, I think it's... not completely impossible... that it was precisely this aspect of themselves that they tried to annihilate, maybe subconsciously. A potential they felt was so wrong that they tried to erase it from history entirely, just walking into the pale wouldn't have been enough, it needed to be scrubbed at its root.

socialism: elysian and scientific
[whispering to you in a movie theater in between mouthfuls of salted caramel popcorn--other moviegoers who just want to watch we bought a zoo (2011) are glaring at us but i don’t care]
so in 1880 friedrich engels wrote a snappy little number called ‘socialism: utopian & scientific’. it’s a foundational marxist text and one i’d recommend to everybody--and i think some of the ideas in it are incorporated and built on in disco elysium in really interesting ways.
socialism: utopian & scientific does a few things. first, it lays out the ideas of the 18th century utopian socialists and explains the societal context in which they developed their ideas--and the core idea of the dialectic development of ideas. engels harshly critiques the enlightenment's conception of the history of thought as a history of individual thinkers attempting to capture an eternal, immutable corpus of truth and justice--he describes this worldview thusly (emphasis mine):
What was wanted was the individual man of genius, who has now arisen and who understands the truth. That he has now arisen, that the truth has now been clearly understood, is not an inevitable event, following of necessity in the chains of historical development, but a mere happy accident. He might just as well have been born 500 years earlier, and might then have spared humanity 500 years of error, strife, and suffering.
and of course it jumped out to me playing disco elysium that this is exactly how human development works the world of elysium--innocences are singularly world-changing individuals who personally establish systems and ideologies within their lifetimes:

dolores dei in particular is a pretty clear synechdoche (both narratively and, because of how innocences work, diegetically) for the bourgeois revolutions of the enlightenment--her followers, the moralists, are clearly analogous to the real-world post-enlightenment liberal international system. the “kingdom of conscience”, is, i think, also a pretty heavy-handed reference to engels’ sardonic use of the “kingdom of reason” to describe the empty promises of the 18th century bourgeois revolutions:
Now, for the first time, appeared the light of day, the kingdom of reason; henceforth superstition, injustice, privilege, oppression, were to be superseded by eternal truth, eternal Right, equality based on Nature and the inalienable rights of man.

so--moralists are liberals, that’s not exactly groundbreaking. the innocentic system is a literalization of the metaphysical vision of the history of ideas--that’s interesting, but it doesn’t really say anything in and of itself. so let’s go a little deeper. if engels doesn’t think philosophers, are accessing a nebulous immaterial well of absolute truth, what does he think--well, he cites hegelian dialectics, a system he and marx develop into material dialectics and historical materialism. what the fuck are hegelian dialectics--well there’s a lot of really long fucking books that answer that, but let me just quote engels here:
In his system — and herein is its great merit — for the first time the whole world, natural, historical, intellectual, is represented as a process — i.e., as in constant motion, change, transformation, development; and the attempt is made to trace out the internal connection that makes a continuous whole of all this movement and developmen
hegel posits the history of mankind as the history of ideas evolving in concert with one another--the ideas of, say, the enlightenment weren’t just waiting in the aether during the age of feudalism, fully formed until some singular genius could grasp them--instead they are the product of the ideas before them interacting through the process of thesis-antithesis-synthesis. this is dialectics--the idea that progress broadly takes the form of contradicting forces generating a novel force through their interaction.
now, engels identifies one key flaw in hegel, which is that he’s still idealist--he is putting the ideas first in this historical model, positing them as drivers of history rather than products of it. engels then goes on to lay out the fundamentals of historical materialism, which is the application of dialectics to a material view of history--when engels says “all past history [...] was the history of class struggles”, this is what he means, that historical development is the process of the creation and resolution of contradictions between modes of production and exchange (how stuff gets made and who gets it and why).

okay that’s all cool but what does this have to do with beloved crpg disco elysium (2019)? well, for a start it takes a very distinctively historical materialist worldview when it comes to its own history--the history of revachol is very much the history of class struggle, from the revolution to the strike--and the idea that the elements from which future society will arise are already present with current society is a recurring theme:

the future is change--society is in motion, contradictions must resolve, the world is dialectic--and the moralists are in opposition to this, desperate to maintain the status quo, to maintain contradictions perfectly suspended forever. from the dialectic point of view, moralism in disco elysium is the quest for no future at all:

as engels explains, a dialectic view of history means that you need to understand the past if you want to understand the present, because the present is born from elements of the past:
From this point of view, the history of mankind no longer appeared as a wild whirl of senseless deeds of violence, all equally condemnable at the judgment seat of mature philosophic reason and which are best forgotten as quickly as possible, but as the process of evolution of man himself.
for the moralists, the past is something to be forgotten, cast aside for an eternal unchanging present. which is interesting because in disco elysium there happens to be a global world-threatening force which is forgetting the past: the god damn pale. the pale is the accumulation of all human history into something flat and meaningless, the detachment of history from its context--the pale is the future, past, and present not as dialectical continuum of cause and effect but as meaningless incoherent chatter. the pale is the moralist’s view of history made real global force--

and this is what moralism is. engels says of metaphysical philosophy:
In the contemplation of individual things, it forgets the connection between them; in the contemplation of their existence, it forgets the beginning and end of that existence; of their repose, it forgets their motion. It cannot see the woods for the trees.
by understanding the world in repose, as a dead thing, moralism is killing it. by discarding the past it is creating a debt that can’t be repaid. and what brings this all together is this bit of information from the game’s concept art:

innocences create the fucking pale. what they’re doing, their immanentized personificaton of the kingdom-of-reason model of history, is destroying the future. very literally, the non-dialectic view of the status quo--the quest for the right ideas to ensure endless stagnant stillness--is killing the world. the man who killed dolores dei was right:

we were supposed to come up with this ourselves. so--all that done--what’s the point of this post? what do i think any of this proves, other than that i and the DE writers are fancy communists who read books? well, my read on it at least: the pale is the destruction of history for a purpose--because if we do not understand history, we will think we cannot change it. we will wait for the great people to do it for us--we will wait for them to invent a future to live in and we will wait until we die. we are supposed to come up with this ourselves. as engels says:
The possibility of securing for every member of society, by means of socialized production, an existence not only fully sufficient materially, and becoming day-by-day more full, but an existence guaranteeing to all the free development and exercise of their physical and mental faculties — this possibility is now, for the first time, here, but it is here.
liberalism tells us that the future is unknowable, untouchable, that all we can do is wait for it to arrive. socialism--and disco elysium--tell us that the future is here, now, that everything we need to build it ourselves is already in the world. the second hardest part of that is realizing it--the hardest part is doing it.

kim............. just some headcanons for how i characterize him. i might be missing somethings. i might add to this. this is very disorganized but it's fine
He wears cologne
He was raised by a Dolores dei church orphanage, hence why he’s very slightly religious (he prays. Occasionally. And he’s respectful in churches)
He’s very attached to his car, refers to it in his head with she/her and sees it as a motherly figure
Eyes didn’t die immediately. Instead Kim had to watch over him and take care of him, just like with harry, but eyes died in his sleep
Kim has a serious amount of self-loathing and is REALLY critical of himself due to shit when he was a kid and the shit he got working juvie
As such he really likes how harry much worships him
He likes to listen to insulindian classical music like operas and symphonies because as a kid the church orphaning him tried to indoctrinate him and erase his culture. He didn’t even have any culture, and all they ended up doing was making him love the country. This is also why he knows so much history
He also listens to it as a big fuck you to the fascists bc it’s fascist music (bc it’s really national, like the music of the country) and the fascists would hate to know someone who looks like him listens to their music
As a kid, the orphanage referred to him by last name, so he refers to himself by his last name in his head because it’s a way of being formal with himself and keeping up his image (also kinda’ says he is his own father figure, since the closest thing to a father figure he had was the dolorian priest that ran the orphanage, and he referred to all the kids by their last names)
The only person who ever referred to kim by his first name was eyes who was the only other person who really saw Kim for who he was
Kim used to be a really pissed off kid, and he used to respond to injustice with rage, but it kept getting him into trouble. Eyes had to teach him how to calm down and deal with the shit, and he was the only person who was kind to Kim
Kim reflects a lot of what eyes taught him in his own interactions with people; it’s why he gives people the benefit of doubt, and it’s why he’s so kind to harry. It’s kinda’ like eyes passed the mentorship down to Kim and now Kim’s teaching harry
Kim genuinely tries to be kind with people because he doesn’t want anyone to have to deal with the shit he’s dealt with
He doesn’t like to ask for help though. Has a real hard time with that because that shows vulnerability
Kim has a little picture of eyes in his wallet and he talks to him and updates him when he misses him. He will never get over his death. He will tear himself apart about it forever. He seriously still blames himself for eyes’s death, even though he did all he could, and he’s spent many nights replaying it over in his head to see how he could’ve done it better
Kim’s buried the “Kim” in him so deep, he’s started to be closed off even when he’s alone, always putting on a false face, pretending he’s much more put together and professional than he is internally. The only time he really lets loose is when he’s in the kineema alone, and sometimes in his room in the dark
Harry calls him Kim so much, Kim starts to love himself again Otherwise he’s just trying to ignore the past, trying to fix the past, or trying to keep himself together. He’s afraid if he relaxes even once, he’ll slip up
He has some kinda’ general anxiety disorder, very well stifled, but it comes up when harry does anything stupid or late at night after a long day when he worries if he said the wrong thing earlier. He’s always trying to make sure things r going smoothly, and he deals with mistakes really badly (internally. On the outside he’s professional as hell about them)
He’s very hard on himself and thinks really lowly of himself
He thinks he’s never been anyone’s favorite person (even if there was eyes, he thought eyes was too cool for him, and that Kim could never be as cool as him (though eyes wanted to tell him how much he meant to him, but he couldn’t because he DIED))
He’s kinda’ silly. He has a lot of interests he’s picked up from the kids he’s worked with such as really harsh electronic music and wirral, among others (though he likes the electronic music bc it makes him feel like shit)
He’s really nerdy / geeky. Likes machines, cars, has a very specific obsession with aerostatics. He has so many books he’s read over and over. He just thinks they’re really cool. Something always fascinated him about flight. Maybe because it’s so freeing
I think his cosplay is literally something he just does for fun because he can get away with it. It makes him feel cool. He’s always in the pursuit of being cool
He likes games he can micromanage where there’s a lot of moving parts he has to strategize really deeply. It gives him a challenge and it’s also a sense of control
He’s always taking notes. He’s gone through so many notebooks. He’s afraid if he doesn’t write things down, he’ll miss something important that’ll get someone killed, but also it’s a way to pay attention to what someone’s saying without having to look at them (meaning he doesn’t have to act a certain way. It gives him a break)
He writes his notes in shorthand. Harry can read them, just like harry knows French (innate things he never forgot)
He’s got a lot of rage in him that he’s gotten really good at controlling, but it comes back out when anyone’s racist towards him or thinks less of him, though he tries really hard to keep it down
He’s scared to open up because it’s gotten him really hurt before.
He’s got wall after wall built up around his soul
He has a little box he tries to stay in where it’s safe, and when things challenge that, or when things try to pull him out of the box, he insists on staying in the box because he’s scared of leaving it because things outside the box are no longer under his control
Harry’s slowly loosening him up and Kim’s learning how to let go a little more bc harry keeps challenging him and pulling him out of that box (like with the cryptids. Kim’s like that shit’s not real shut up I don’t want my reality challenged with even the Consideration that there are things beyond my control. And harry’s like well Kim the nature of the universe is that everything is out of your control and either you succumb to it and ride it or you die. Also cryptids Are real and I’m gonna find them and you’re coming with me. And then they DO find them. And it’s so freeing for Kim to let go and let things happen to him and to like. Actually experience the world without the fear that he starts to let himself be a lot more open to it all. (Plus he trusts that if harry’s there, it’ll all be ok. That if something gets fucked, they can work through it together. He’s never had anyone else to work through shit with. He finally doesn’t have to do everything alone.))
The pale freaks him out bc it’s the ultimate unknown. He doesn’t like thinking about it, he doesn’t like talking about it, he just pretends it doesn’t exist / doesn’t dwell on it
Also after eyes dies, he has no one to back him up and support him anymore, so he really toughens up and hardens and gets his Cool Exterior after that. It’s big protection thing, and also in the very beginning he tries to manifest and become eyes bc he has no fucking clue how to deal with losing him other than becoming him. He’s slowly dropped off that, but he still tries to be cool and put together and professional. Its bc of the racism he has to be tough and bc he was working juvie he always couldn’t act his age even though he was an adult (and he really doesn’t want to be seen as a child anymore. He wants to be Trusted to handle things like an adult). He was also scared the grief was getting to him and he was scared of how much control he was losing

The concept of Innocence and religion in the world of Disco Elysium is so fascinating and surreal and I would love to learn more about it.
They had six Innocences in the history of Occident. And Innocence is international political figure but also they are religious figure in a sense as well and they are also a personification of the History. Their rule is absolute to the sense that their decisions and orders are taken as just announcements of what will happen, the inevitabilities.
The concept is so fascinating and questionable. Oh and the processes of electing one is even more fascinating and fucked up. Who is this Founding "Holy" Party? We unfortunately know so little about them. They are said to be international organisation but what kind? Are we supposed to imagine peaceful monks looking for their next incarnation of Innocence to follow or more of a "behind the curtain secret society running the world" kind of organisation? How could there not be political agenda in their establishment of the concept of Innocence? How could there not be political agenda whenever they decide to elevate new Innocence? And how international and internationally accepted they really are?
And if we wanted to kind of draw some parallels for sake of better understanding... How should we interpret the Innocence? At first they appear to be Saints of the kind. But they are voted and have basically unlimited powers so they are kind of Pope if the entire world was Christian and we all agreed Pope was also the Holy Roman Emperor and also literally anyone could be picked.
Which leads to the question that maybe should have been asked first and that being: what even is a religion like in Disco Elysium? Because they do have concept of a God. And said concept of God is said to be introduced by the first Innocence The Perikarnassian. But also God really does not matter, the religion itself is not really about Them, They don't even have churches, the churches are build for Innocence. But also people seems to be using phrases like "oh, God..." and there even is a hint in God being considered Entity to pray to (though as far as I remember there's only Kim's "God, please..." during the Tribunal but it still counts).
So really it's like if we all believed in God but also ignored Them in favour of Jesus, except Jesus lived only three hundred years ago and was a tyrant and mass murderer and very much human and yet we build him all the churches but also these days are churches nor relevant anymore. (Also if we agree Dolores Dei is Jesus what does it make the first Innocence? Could we consider Perikarnassian maybe Moses then?)
And after reading this all it really sounds like the whole concept of Innocence is a bit fucked up. However so is the entire world of Disco Elysium because the most important thing was not really mentioned yet. Because there are supernatural unexplainable powers in the world. There is the Pale, there are mysterious Cryptids, there are Ghosts and Harry can sometimes read minds and talk to inanimate objects and to the city herself.
So what do we know maybe lungs of Dolores Dei really did glow. And so maybe there was something special about all the others too. And maybe the Founding Party has some means to recognise this and there is nothing wrong with some people being given that much power because there are some unexplainable forces which we cannot comprehend and Innocence just really do what they are supposed to and themselves are puppets of some power to which they are connected.
Or not and the concept is really as fucked up as it seems. Just some thoughts. (And I can have even more of them... Including ones regarding Harry being the next Innocence )

anyway actually i do actually want to explore an elysium with an innoccentic harry. every time he steps foot in that church and looks up at the mosaic of dolores dei, it makes me think. every kind of apocalyptic omen that comes out of nowhere, every superstitious layman that believes harrier du bois is some kind of harbinger, every revacholian that dreads the ground harry walks on...harry is a broken, sad, empty, lonely and desperate man. he has profound and insightful things to say about the world. he observes it with care and love. we have the sodium lights. this is somewhere to be. he observes it with cynicism and deep dissatisfaction. he knows when the numbers are wrong. he knows when the suit at the desk is going to fuck over old widows and their children. sometimes he loses his sense of reality and begins to instead count the days that remain. the city connects to him through the invertibrates. he has done atrocious, unforgivable things. he fights for the people, he's a real common hero. he is a person no one wants, or is eager, to hear from.
and no one that knows him, really knows him, is ever in a position to see an innocentic harry. they see the radiation instead. they see the bloated corpse of a drunk. he survives heart attacks out on the bombed, rotting roads of history and they wonder how he hasn't left himself out to dry in the pale by now. to them, he may as well have been the body in the tree. the imperfection of his chin, from a bout of polio when he was young, is not quite a combat injury like lely's. they both nonetheless had to learn how to speak to the rest of the world through it.
harry is often discounted as a competent person because of his drinking, and the most intense pushback against harry comes from his partner, who was scorned by harry's ego and condescension. jean, a satellite-officer, one of harry's last few believers. but none of it matters anymore, because all of harry's words have been tainted. there is nothing he can say to inspire jean's forgiveness, or happiness, or relief. when i think about THE NEXT WORLD MURAL i think about how jean wanted to keep it, and how it must have been harry, his superior, who agreed to take that back to precinct 41--agreed to debate it and demand to vote whether it should be conserved or removed. of course they couldn't get rid of it. true love is only possible in the next world. for new people. it is too late for us.
in precinct 57, a moralist in a revolutionary jacket wonders if his superiors care that they're sending him to work with the human can-opener. the 50's era, moribund drunk, somewhat of a street legend (or was it a tall tale?) and also a sordid promise that the case would be solved to the ends of the earth. kim had forgotten the man's name somehow. it was only mentioned once before, when kim was determined not to pay attention to who exactly the poor son of a bitch was, getting caught on the short end of the pissing-contest shit-stick, in the maw of martinaise. but even without a name, kim had known what to look for. that goddamn jamrock shuffle. he could have named it as he watched harry shamble down the stairs.
kim is no saint. he is no devout founder's party service boy. but there is no point where he can't bring himself to believe harry's hunches, warnings, and instincts. one of them saves kim's life. another finds a bullet that has already taken a life, in a hanged man's head. harry finds ruby because the wind speaks to him. there is a 2mm hole in the world, and harry has seen it. he knows what it will do, he understands what it is made from. something got you this far, kim thinks. however, he too knows he is not imaginative enough to think of what, in particular, that could be.
this innocentic harry, shrouded in pale and ravaged by the world he was born into, will also likely do nothing but fall on deaf ears that have been both put off by his substance abuse and quite frankly fucked over by dolorianism, and the last vestiges of belief in his word will be those who altogether reject the imposition of the past (AKA the overlap in a venn diagram between delinquents and kim kitsuragi) on any bearing of the present. that's how harry works; he is discounted because people believe he is nothing but a rambling drunk, or a paranoia case. but kim saw his service history. he also saw the startlingly low kill count.
but if the only way for harry to start anew was to rewrite himself out of an old wrecked frame, while older, out-of-date copies of harry du bois were still open on jean vicquemare's desk, then true love really would only be possible in the next world, and harry's infection-by-pale would be the last nail in his coffin. so harrier du bois is no longer permitted to live in the past and he suffers the consequences when he slips back. he can't un-speak jean away from the past where they both once stood. his boon, and bane, is that he must now surround himself with what is to come. and his curse is that nobody believes him. he will not go down in history. he will not live to see the change. nobody has faith in him, even when he succeeds. and he has succeeded so often; statistically more often than he has faltered. just like you cannot call kim a revolutionary for wearing a jacket you cannot call harry a revolutionary regardless of how he chooses to serve the people but "harrier" is a gift from his mother to keep him strong during war and he was born in a hospital where people would usually go to die if you even care
