I will never fucking be over Speck. We all watched the girl we spent 1.6 million words with, that we saw grow and fight and bleed and never give up, slowly and noticeably degrade and become a paranoid hollow shell of her former self. She slowly lost her ability to speak, read, write, comprehend words, or read body language, and everything she lost made her break down more with the realization. So many themes reached their peak, from Taylor's desire to throw herself away and burn up for a good cause, to her willingness to commit truly horrifying acts for the greater good, to her desire for everyone to just fucking band together and put aside their differences against a common foe. There's so many amazing moments like Lisa verbally eviscerating her, to the breakdown when she thinks she killed Dragon, to her handing Dinah the "I'm sorry" note before taking control of her. And I haven't even gotten into the ever increasing connection between her and her passenger and how damn well that was done, or the way her thoughts become shaky and unhinged, or the conversation at the end with Contessa, or the way Rachel steps into her radius because she trusts her, or Aisha singing the entire time and comforting Taylor as she unravels. I swear to god I barely covered half of what I love about Speck in this post, it has so much and it's the perfect ending to the such an interesting character and story. It's genuinely my favorite piece of writing ever, I have not once managed to read it without crying. She tries so fucking hard and in her infinite determination and disregard for herself she kills god. God it's so good.

THIS IS WHERE YOUR BANE COMES FROM???
Tumblr media
THATS SO COOL???
YEA!!! TY!!
A little background for my username. I usually go by “Kheprrison” which is a play on Khepri, the egyptian god, and -son as a suffix meaning “son of”! The extra r is just there because the name tends to be taken, then I ended up really liking it like that lol. (Some people also connect it to “caprisun” which wasn’t originally intended but is still funny)
But the name “Kheprriverse” was more of a tease by my friends because I have aus of my own ocs, and a LOT of them as well. It eventually turned into jokes about my own “kheprri cinematic universe” then to “the kheprriverse”. Especially after I really started connecting some oc stories together, it really did end up playing out as a whole universe (and then a multiverse).
Official Kheprri lore 👍

Post-clearing Bayonetta 3 thoughts
Obligatory (And obvious) spoiler warning!
So... people really didn’t like this game? Like, actually? Why?
Is it because of “Straight Bayonetta”? If so, I have news for you: Bayonetta’s relationship with Jeanne has always been deliberately ambiguous, just as much so as her relationship with Luka was in the previous two games, so like. Read it however you want- if you want Cereza and Jeanne to be a thing, they can be! Bisexuals do in fact exist!
Is it because people didn’t like Viola? Because... I mean, fair, I guess, since the narrative didn’t exactly do her justice, but she’s also the Cerezita/Loki of this game, which means she was never going to be as fleshed out as the other characters. And, frankly, if there’s going to be a Bayonetta 4, she’ll pretty obviously be the main character- which I’m totally here for, to be clear- and that’ll actually give her the chance to DO something.
Is it because of the Homunculi/Singularity plot being underdeveloped? Because... that’s kind of the case with every Bayonetta antagonist. The only reason Balder works as well as he does is because of the retroactive adjustments in Bayonetta 2, since he was... not exactly three-dimensional in Bayonetta 1. And the only reason Aesir worked is because of Loki, you know. BEING half of Aesir.
Is it because of how little focus the alternate Bayonettas got? Because... yeah, I agree, they deserved more emphasis than they had, but the thing you have to remember is- regardless of what the narrative in Bayonetta 3 implies, there’s no way to be sure that ANYONE is actually gone- Bayonetta 2′s storyline was literally about Cereza trying to bring Jeanne back from the dead, so like. As far as I’m concerned, resurrection has already been established. Also, when your story goes to multiverse level storytelling, all rules are out the window- not that there ever were any, since it’s Bayonetta, and rule of cool dominates everything, spectacle above all is the entire concept of the series.
Ultimately, my thoughts are thus:
It sucks that we have more limited weapon kits, but the weapons we did get are awesome in their own right and frankly, the acquisition of them is much more narratively effective than every other Bayonetta weapon except the guns and maybe Alruna, since. They actually HAVE A ROLE in the narrative. Also, the concepts were pretty great overall- though I could’ve done without having like, four separate slow weapons, but hey, we got Ignis Araneae Yo-Yo and Simoon and there’s a weapon named Ribbit-Libido BZ55, so, who actually gives a shit.
Some of the demon designs were... weird (Looking at you, Gouon and Clock Tower) but the returning demons were a delight to see reimagined (BAAL ZEBUL MY BELOVED YOU ARE THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE GAME) and while I’m kind of mad we didn’t get to see Sheba or Omne again, I also didn’t really expect it in the first place. At least we didn’t get a repeat of Khepri using Butterfly’s body model.
Demon Slave was a fantastic concept- in my opinion, a total step up from Umbran Climax, even if it did mean having to give up meaningful torture attacks- and I especially loved Wink Slave, because like. It’s like a Wicked Weave but EVEN BIGGER and AFTER A WICKED WEAVE. They took the best part of Umbran Climax and made it a normal gameplay move! Fantastic!
Viola’s combat was... weird. Not being able to move and shoot took an adjustment, and I don’t think I’ll ever know how to use the block properly for Witch Time, but it was at least successful in making her feel distinct from Bayonetta, which they never quite nailed with Jeanne and Rosa. She definitely could’ve used more polish in the gameplay department, though.
Speaking of Viola... she suffered from Luca syndrome (Admittedly, rather fitting) in that she was played for comic relief a bit too much to work as well as she needed to. I love the idea of her inheriting the name Bayonetta, but... she doesn’t quite feel like she’s actually THERE yet. She doesn’t have the badass level yet. Also, Cheshire should’ve had actual story in 3, and not just had it be locked behind Cereza and the Lost Demon.
Jeanne was neglected in a frankly depressing manner. Her missions were... fun at first, but overstayed their welcome, and honestly, the most memorable Jeanne moment was Jeanne Beta-Three/Egyptian Jeanne. She deserved better and she CERTAINLY deserved to live- she should’ve been alive to be Viola’s mentor in whatever the next story is.
Ah, Cereza... While I’m sad to see her die, frankly, they could bring her back in the next game and I wouldn’t be bothered in the slightest. It’s Bayonetta, who cares, there are no rules- just look cool and it’ll do everything it needs to. Make Bayonetta 4 be about Viola going to Inferno to bring Cereza and Luka back to the human world, and have her beat the shit out of Queen Sheba to do it. Full circle to the fullest, this time instead of killing God at the end of the game, we’re killing Satan. I’m 1000% in. Also, there’s no way that she’s supposed to be the alternate universe Cereza from the Records of Time in Bayonetta 2- They literally reference the Aesir storyline directly and how the Eyes of the World no longer exist, which is why the Multiverse fracturing happens and why the entirety of Bayonetta 3 happens at all.
Luka was... kind of weird, but not in the way people seem to think based on everything I’ve seen. First and foremost, the idea that the Bayonetta-Luka relationship came out of nowhere is simply untrue- she was always flirting with him. She put Rosemary in her perfume at the end of the first game SPECIFICALLY because of what he said- that’s what that meant! People were just blinded by the concept of Witch Lesbians, which is fair! (Let Bayonetta have both, y’all. Let her have her cringefail ambiguously-part-faerie boyfriend and her badass motorcycle-riding, literally-Joan-of-Arc immortal-ish witch wife. She deserves that.) The whole Lukaon thing was... not well developed, but frankly, I think that’s mostly because of how much the game tried to do. And really, none of the alternate universe things were that well developed, so if you’re going to criticize aspect of that, criticize them all.
Speaking of the alternate universe things- I loved all of them. Tokyo Street-Witch Bayonetta was perfect and I absolutely used that outfit the entire game, because hello, Chinese Warlord Bayonetta was awesome and it was super fun to see her lead an entire army, Egyptian Princess Bayonetta was super cool and it was amazing to see how she actually managed to have a full character arc, going from bonding with her first Infernal Demon to sacrificing herself to save Bayonetta Prime by the end, and French Thief-Magician Bayonetta- Masque*DeMasque Bayonetta, if you will (Hehe Ace Attorney reference I make myself laugh)- was an utter delight, even if she had the most tragic death. And she allowed us to see Rosa again! And she was the only Bayonetta to be blonde! Where did those genetics come from? No clue! Egyptian Bayonetta seemingly inherited Balder’s silver hair, so no clue where French Bayonetta’s blonde came from, but at least we know how/why Viola was blonde. (Also, we deserved to see a variant of Balder. Just one. It’s not fair that we got to see Rosa again but not him. Anti-feminist, dads and moms should be equally important (THAT’S A JOKE DON’T GET MAD AT ME)) I’d love to see more from any of those Bayonettas.
Sigurd was... not good, but he wasn’t really any worse than Aesir or Bayo-1-Balder would be without other characters to make them work better, and frankly, it’s probably a good thing there wasn’t an attempt at making Sigurd more well-developed, because the game was already pretty over-saturated. Singularity as a final boss was underwhelming compared to Jubileus and Aesir, but that’s honestly probably just because there was no summoning of Queen Sheba/Omne and no Infiniton Climax (Bring back the Big Bang Bonus!).
The setpiece segments of Bayonetta 3 were better than 1 and 2 by a landslide- at least, in my opinion. Even if you just focus on the setpieces from the Deadly Sin Ritual Summonings, they surpass the first two on theatrics alone- ESPECIALLY Baal Zebul. Bayonetta just randomly breaking out into a rhythm minigame with an opera-singing frog-princess-demon? PERFECT. But also... Mega-Godzilla-Sin Gomorrah rock-paper-scissors boss fight? Shockingly fun! Phantasmaraneae being upgraded to The Phantom (Devil May Cry reference! FUCK YEAH! Just make them the same universe PLEASE) and... low-key being implied to represent the Big Bang explosion? And the fight where you’re switching between him and Malphas? Fantastic. AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON QUEEN BUTTERFLY. Madama Butterfly was badass enough on her own, but MEGA MADAMA BUTTERFLY USING THE CLOUDS AS A BATHTUB FOR A BOSS FIGHT? Immaculate. How does she relate to Queen Sheba, though? I wonder... (More Inferno lore Platinum please and thank you it’s the least developed of the trinity of realities)
And for one final note- Being able to CHANGE BAYONETTA’S HAIR COLOR FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. WHY WAS THAT NOT A THING BEFORE. REDHEAD BAYONETTA.

Found this fic that explains a bit the possible origins of the characters from Egycos.
Is in Russo but I think that it does a good job and it gives me new ideas for my fics and AU's.
I read that fic (I remember it because from that I started headcanoning Hatanor as the son of Hathor, lmao, because they have similar names).
But to my point of view it's just mostly overthinking and making up most of the references.
I personally devide the characters in those groups:
Referencing the mythological characters only by look: Horus, Apis (tho the original was just a bull, not a minotaur-looking guy), Iside, Maat, Set, Bes, Osiride, Bastet, Anubi, Thoth, Sobek, Ra (he's actually was depicted not only with a hawk head, but with ram head or human head, people nowadays are too fixated on a hawk head).
Folks who may reference something: Exaton (Akhenaten + might be inspired by original Seth and Shu, since they all can create sand storms), Kefer (I really don't know what can be exactly Khepri reference. A scarab symbol? Ra also was depicted as a scarab sometimes, so I can't tell what it actually means. Some people say he's referencing Khufu, but again I don't see where exactly. In my opinion he's referencing Tefnut and Hapi, because they are the water gods like him and their main purpose is to help people survive in desert, basically what Kefer does).
Folks who are just named after Egyptian stuff or gods: Hyksos, Ramses, Neith (yeah, she doesn't look like the original goddess at all and references her only by name), Shu (the same with him), Nakt, Hatanor, Karnak.
(I'm not talking about the characters like Kira or Leo it's obvious they are just made up)
I always think that Exaton and Kefer are referencing original Shu and Tefnut. Because Exaton was shown controlling a sand storm and Kefer controls water. Kefer is more obvious for me than Exaton, who was shown having wind powers only once (episode 16) and we don't know if he always had them and used something to empower them or got them from somewhere. But one of his main abilities is basically sand manipulation, so I guess he's at least referencing the original Seth at some point.
But I still feel like we all are overthinking, just remembering how Egyxos is referencing Egyptian mythology: briefly. So I think the answer for the most of our questions is just: "character designer though it's cool".

this artist has taken Egyptian gods and stylized them into Overwatch characters
Tumblr media
here you can see the main design where he has taken Ra the lord of the sun a god that is an falcon and he took this idea and made it amazing i like some of the details in this work not just taking the futuristic look of Overwatch but the details of the actual god a detail like he doesn't actually have wings so he has there cyber wings that look amazing but also the design is very golden and while that may have been a design choice is shows off the very common use of gold in the actual Egyptian gods
Tumblr media
he also designed a close up of his staff that he has named the serpent of light the snake design is not just pretty Egyptian as a whole but obviously used Ra being the god of light overall i love this design
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they also designed attacks for the character class that is pretty cool i still don't know generally what type of game I'm making however these can be used as a form of inspiration even if it just in an animation
Tumblr media
they also made this design of Khepri god of the sun taking its design from a scarab beetle this works super well as it allows him to use the factors of the bug mixed with a human to make this dung beetle design as they roll around there balls of dung however this is replaced by a sphere shield that can be used as a sun in his ultimate attack
Tumblr media
this futuristic design with such ancient design really clashes with the pervious Greek god work i looked at before that was modern this idea of different types of gods being at different places is really cool to me and is love to use it in my work
The art used can be found on artstation under the same name Omer Sharon

Oh, I like the idea of Jalil being Fu's apprentice! And him acting as a big brother mentor to Ladybug and Chat Noir is also cool. His kwami is called Scarra (from Scarab Beetle) and his hero name is Khepri.

300 Myth Horrors
These are all 300 mythology creatures in my project, when I add one, I must remove one
*name* = Another name for the same monster, so the Minotaur in my project is also known as Sarangay for example, they aren’t other creatures, they are exactly the same creature, just another name for it.
Bold-names mean that these creatures don’t evolve into a better form, most creatures have one evolution/upgrade, but the bold ones never evolve as I could not make up a cool new form for the creature, as most of them already have cool forms.
The creatures are collected on the mythology I took them from it goes from: Ancient Greek Mythology -> North European Myths -> East European Myths -> South and Central European Myths -> West European/Celtic Myths -> North American Myths -> South and Central American Myths -> African Myths -> Middle-Eastern & Arabian Myths -> Asian/Chinese Myths -> Japanese Myths -> Polynesian Myths -> Australian Myths

cocoroaches, butteflies, spiders, beetles, worms (if you feel like doing more: milipedes, isopods, ants, dragonflies, flies and bees)
God this is tough. Not gonna answer the if you feel like part because it makes it even harder and also answering asks on mobile cut that part of the ask off.
In descending order:
5. Butterflies: I enjoy them, they look good, they have fun symbology in various places and you can get some out there dudes but by in large they're mostly quite similar to each other and often a let down from whatever truly wild type of Caterpillar they metamorphosed from.
Cockroaches: something that would be higher on literally any other list but the competition is so so steep. I love cockroaches. Aesthetically they're great even if you don't get into the colorful varieties. They share a common ancestor with mantises which is truly wild but not as wild as Termites actually being an offshoot of the same family as cockroaches (blattodea). Virtually all roaches are social and cooperate and there's even recordings of a kind of depression among them from lonlineness. They're just cute little dudes with a pretty unfair reputation for un-cleanliness.
Beetles: Again every time I have to put one above the other is painful. Beetles are great. There are so many different types of beetle. Compare the 4,000 species of mammal described to there being over 350,000 beetle species described and even more being found. Beetles can get so wild. Bombardier beetles, gravedigger beetles etc but I also have a lot of fondness for the classic. Love a stag beetle, perpetual star's of beetle wrestling. And beetle imagery ala Khepri is also something I always enjoy seeing.
Spiders: Spiders, man what is there to day that hasn't been said. I think spiders are one of the animals that are so cool that they've transcended the arthropod stigma when you talk about liking them. Trapdoor spiders, adorable jumping spiders, Darwin bark spiders with insane web strength, there's spiders that wrap their prey up so much the pressure kills them. They're great and they look cool. Symbology spiders are sick as hell too, again no explanation needed we know all about it.
Worms: (insert worm joke) Annelids rock. There's thousands of amazing extremely weird species you'd be shocked to see. And because hey whose gonna come at me I'm also gonna count this question towards bugs that are referred to as worms but aren't technically like the Velvet Worm, a personal favourite, because no one was gonna send me and ask with Onychophora as something to rank. Also symbology wise I fucking love worms there's so much to do there. One of my favourite dnd characters warlock patron acted similar to a tape worm, consumed corpses like one of the main symbolic role of worms and was named for a line in the conqueror worm. There's more layers and those layers are all worm.

I am 80% sure that Taylor was just a lesbian in denial. Thoughts?
Yes. Totally.
(apologies if you were looking for a serious, thought-out answer. i’ll write that up another day)
There is another parallel universe, so close to Earth Bet that it’s nearly indistinguishable. We’ll call it…Earth Het ;)
In this universe, Taylor pretends to have a crush on Brian because hey! He’s conventionally attractive and friendly enough, and normal teenage girls like Taylor are supposed to like boys, right?
Wrong. Leviathan happens, and Taylor’s whole perspective changes. She’s not the “hero” she thought she was and she’s seen and experienced things the average sixteen-year-old couldn’t even fathom. Who gives a fuck what people think about her anymore?
Taylor comes out of the closet, much to both her and Brian’s relief. The whole thing between them just felt forced, anyways.
And yknow how in canon Taylor’s pretty oblivious to other people’s perceptions of her? Well, that’s the same here.
Lisa is aroace, she swears up and down and left and right that she is, but ever since that night on the rooftop, where she saw a fresh-faced hero taking on the scariest fire-breathing motherfucker in all of Brockton Bay, well, she may be questioning her stance on love. It’s two years later, at the end of the world, when Taylor pulls the ultimate martyr move by forcing a second trigger that Lisa truly moves on. She gets enough migraines from her power alone.
Aisha HATES that she has a “schoolgirl crush” on Taylor, as Alec likes to put it. She supposes she’s grateful that Taylor and Brian broke things off because it means Aisha doesn’t have to devote as much time to being petty and jealous of her brother. The problem is that she can’t quite tell if she likes Taylor or if she wants to be Taylor. That respect carries all the way through Gold Morning, when Aisha protects Taylor and holds her close as Taylor’s mind crumbles away (it’s the least she can do, for one of the only constants she’s had in her entire life). Aisha hopes she can lead the Heartbroken the same way.
Amy’s life has been a shitshow for as long as she can remember. Circumstances of her birth and all that. She doesn’t like to think about the Slaughterhouse Nine, but Skitter is something of a bright spot in that dark time. She swept in like some sort of knight-in-shining-armor on a horse (or a beetle), facing down the most notorious serial killers in all of North America without a trace of fear. Hell, she even offered Amy a place on her team. And for what it’s worth, saliva was the easiest way to spread her counter-pathogens around.
Neither Sabah nor Lily have had crushes on Skitter. They only have eyes for each other.
Weaver’s presence turns the life of the Chicago Wards upside-down. She’s scary competent and straight-up scary and probably their best bet at surviving through the end of the world.
Grace hates her guts completely and utterly. She hates Weaver’s stupid curls, and her slender arms, and the way Weaver gets up-close and physical in their training spars, not even remotely flustered like their dorky boy teammates. So Grace teases her, gets up close and pushes Weaver around. She never learned about the proper ways to show affection, beyond the oft-repeated idea that “if a boy hits you, he likes you.” Why can’t it work for girls?
Poor Theo. He doesn’t even realize Taylor doesn’t like boys. Luckily, he’s started bonding with Cuff “Call-Me-Ava” over how cool their new teammate is. They decide to start training together, so that they can impress Weaver with their improvement.
Dennis still gets the most attention from Parahuman gossip sites. Missy thought it would be funny to send him a link to a popular fanfiction page for the so-called ship “Tick-Tock.” If only they knew the truth…
And then there’s Rachel.
Rachel and Taylor, who’ve gone from friends, to enemies, to friends and back again. Trust is hard earned, but these two have worked harder than most to earn it with each other.
Rachel knows what it’s like to have a brain altered by powers. She can’t quite remember what she was like before, but she knows it wasn’t this. Rachel doesn’t believe in wasting time on what-ifs and could-have-beens.
Taylor, too, was affected by her powers. It was slow and insidious, the kind of thing you couldn’t notice until it was too late. Maybe Lisa knew, at the bottom of her heart, but didn’t want to admit it. How could she, how could any of them, when Taylor was getting more successful, more unstoppable with every victory? They basked in her confidence, they flourished under her guidance.
Rachel steps into Taylor’s control-range of her own will, because after all this, she still trusts Taylor.
The Queen Administrator doesn’t care about the feelings of an inferior shard. Khepri doesn’t care about some silly dog-girl. But Taylor cares.
She releases Rachel from her control. Even though she’s losing her higher cognitive function, precious names and faces and memories, she trusts Rachel.
The world ends, but All of the earths, all of the worlds, all of the universes are saved. The girl responsible is nowhere to be found.
Lisa is good at making deals. Contessa is tired of being the boogeyman.
They stick Taylor in Earth Aleph and close the doors behind her, because it’s the closest thing to a happy ending Taylor is going to get. Sticking with the Undersiders will be a death sentence, by way of parahuman or passenger.
But the heat dies down. There’s crazier shit on the horizon, new heroes and old villains and everything in between, and people don’t ask about the girl anymore.
Rachel has a little farm on Gimel. It’s a lovely and peaceful place, where she learned to heal all those years ago. Foster care to runaway to wanted criminal makes it hard for Rachel to settle down.
She calls her farm “home.”
And when Taylor comes home, there are tears in her eyes. She’s clutching Rachel’s hand so tight that Rachel feels it go all prickly and stiff. Crying is bad. Why is Taylor crying?!
“It’s okay,” Taylor tells her, pressing their foreheads together. Her glasses are fogged up, and Rachel resists the urge to wipe them off.
“I’m happy here.”
Rachel nods, confusion dispelled for the moment. She smiles and drags Taylor through the front door.
“We’ll be happy here,” Rachel replies, so quiet as not to be heard over the sound of dogs barking.
ANYWAYS! That’s my explanation for the technically-Ward-Compliant AU where Taylor is just chillin on Rachel’s farm and enjoying an early retirement. The Heartbroken love visiting, even though they’re not allowed to tell anyone outside of the Undersiders that Taylor Hebert is alive.
(Also Victoria is bi, but that’s a conversation for another day.)

Previously, when a match ended, players who did not return to orbit would be sent back to the matchmaking pool together; this is no longer the case
This will greatly reduce the likelihood of re-matching against the same players and will give matchmaking an opportunity to find the best possible match

Players can now earn Infamy points by completing Gambit Prime matches and bounties

Fixed an issue where players would get the "Half Banked" medal every time they deposit Motes after they reached 38 Motes deposited
Fixed an issue where the "Taking Turns" medal fires when 3 different players invade instead of 4
Fixed an issue where a graphical error could be seen on a waterfall in Legion's Folly
Fixed an issue where occasionally Drifter would tell players back-to-back that the other team has summoned their Primeval
Fixed an issue where, in a longer match after killing the Primeval, the Drifter reminded us that we needed to spawn our Primeval to win
Fixed an issue where the bounty "Block and Key" did not increment when a Large Blocker was sent that would summon the Primeval
Updated security policy and functionality so players who have been banned from competitive activities cannot access Gambit playlist
Crucible
Fixed an issue where healing during Crucible matches was taking away from a player's overall damage on the PGCR screen
Last Wish
Smashed an issue where players would encounter frequent guitar errors
Eververse
Bright Engram
The season 5 Etched Bright Engram has been retired; in its place players can now obtain the new season 6 Notorious Bright Engram
Prismatic Matrix
The Prismatic Matrix has been retired; additional information may be found in This Week at Bungie—2/28/2019
UI/UX

Added a popup dialogue when opening bundles if you have a full inventory, noting that items will go to the postmaster if you proceed through the dialogue
Fixed an issue where Masterwork objective progress bars could display 100% when not yet completed
Fixed an issue where Legendary Masterwork items were not displayed as Masterworked when inspecting other players
Fixed an issue where Masterwork UI did not scale to fill ultra-wide monitors
Fixed an issue where the progress bar under Triumphs could sometimes show as complete when the Triumph was still in progress
Fixed an issue where transferring items using the Destiny app would consistently re-trigger Triumph notifications

A Summer Headcanon for Every God
-Achillies isn’t one for fun in the sun, but at least he’s going out. You’ll see him hanging around the open air bars at the beaches, usually the center of attention in group or another.
-There will be a mysterious rise in the frequency in which you’ll hear ‘Uptown Funk’ while near Agni. Big fan of the chorus.
-”BEES!” AMC continues to shout, elated at both the seasonal uptick of bees, and the half price sale of sweet tea at his local market. Nothing spectacular happens to him, but he is still happy.
-Ah Puch is busy dragging Hades out of his den, determined to get him to enjoy the sunshine with him. Hades simply wants to wait until Fall, and complains and moans the whole time they’re out. Baron’s along for the ride, seeing it as a personal challenge to give this man a good time.
-Amaterasu is on... a less than stellar family vacation with Izanami and Susano. The rental agency gave them the wrong kind of van, her mom and brother are fighting about directions and the radio, and somehow they ended up picking up the Nene Kappa along the way. This is not worth a crummy picture at the Grand Canyon.
-Similarly, Anhur, Bastet, and Ra are also on a family trip. It's on a boat. They're guiding the sun. Dad won't let them vacation.
-Anubis can be seen napping out on the porch, curled up in the sun like a good boy. Osiris and Isis get a laugh everytime he starts dreaming. The videos each have a couple thousand hits.
-Ao Kuang is NOT a fan of the Summer season. Summer means his (surviving) kids are back from school, which means they're always up to the crack of dawn, need to be fed and taken care of, and Ao doesn't get to sleep in.
- The whole Aphro family is on vacation. Argus and Cupid are building sand castles and running around, and every few minutes he brings particularly pretty shell to his mom and grandma. ""That's nice dear,"" Aphrodite and Hera say in unison, before glancing at each other. There was a silent pact to sip mimosas rather than The Tea on that trip, and both were abiding. Ares and Vulcan are both actively debating on the proper way to grill a few feet in the background. Ares denounces any claim of Vulcan ever being a chef.
- Apollo is spending his summer at Bacchus' place. The grapes are in harvest, the wine is flowing, and the party is never ending!
-Who the fuck knows what Arachne is doing? What do spiders even do in the summer? She's probably off eating flies or some gross shit.
-Artemis is, obviously, enjoying the Summer warmth and bounty. She's wracking up plentiful kill, her huntresses are training in the nice weather, and all is good.
-Artio is actually using the chance to do some studying, before the season turns cold and she goes into hibernation. She sees herself somewhat as the diplomat of her pantheon, and takes it upon herself to learn more about the others. As of now, she's spending a lot of time learning about Greece at Chiron's place. Like, a lot of time. Studying, I'm sure.
-Athena is off cursing someone again for one of her 'social experiments.' She'll enjoy the discourse in a few hundred years between people debating her reasoning.
- Summer time is bath time for Suku! Once Awillix made sure her darling is all squeaky clean, it's time for all warm jungle running in the world!
-Bakasura enters all the eating competitions he can. Hot dogs, water melon, you name it! It's going in his mouth.
- Suns out, Guns Out for Bellona and Nike! If you ain't training you ain't gaining! Monday through Sunday, it's all gains! And maybe a little kissing! Yeah!
-Cabrakan is hitting the beach and the spotlight this summer. Surprisingly, he made it as 'Mr.August' in next year's ' All-Mighty Model' Calendar
All-Mighty Models' calendar. Joining him will be Raijjn as June, Chaac as July, and Cu Chullain as September. There was plenty of fan outcry when Tyr was moved to December, despite having already having a shoot prepared.
-Camazotz and Cerberus are pretty much chilling while their masters are fighting each other, getting their whole 'Secret Life of Pets' going on.
-Summer is just another part of Cernunnos' job, and he's working over time. Everything needs to be in pristine condition for Autumn.
-Chang'e and Hou Yi have a whole world trip planned. They want to see all the hot spots! The Egyptian Pyramids, Nordic Valhalla, the Shinto Temples in Japan, etc. They're going full tourist mode.
-Chernobog is joining the entire Nox Family on Holiday! And by Holiday, I mean wandering around the house, occasionally glancing outside, and quietly cursing the sun until Fall arrives. Nemesis and Discordia do eventually head out for a nice beach day, but Thanatos never leaves the basement.
-Chronos and Janus are another pair of gods that don't go on big or extravagant vacations. But, with the powers of time and space... Movie nights are nice.
-Beware of Da Ji if you're heading to the beach... This isn't a lead in to anything funny or witty. She's just harvesting kidneys.
-Erlang Shen and Sun Wukong are running a summer training camp with their proteges. Sun Wukong is handling Ne Zha, while Erlang is disciplining Jing Wei. Both are in an intense rivalry to be the best fath- I mean, trainer.
-Fafnir, of all people, is the one running a lemonade stand. Pulling in that fruit money!
- Fenrir absolutely HATES the summer season. You know what happens to big, fluffy dogs when it gets hot? You get Skadi holding you down while Loki shears your fur, and your siblings laugh at you. They shear everything but his head and tail. It's humiliating, but at least it's cool.
-Freya is watching Bellona and Nike work out while she does her own reps, silently resenting them for not inviting her.
-Ganesha and Vamana are still doing that whole meditation thing, but like, outside now.
-Geb is burning up! Due to global warming! It's a mess! Yeah!
-Guan Yu and Hachiman are being horse bros, hanging out at Guan's stables, riding horses, feeding horses, raising horses. Just. Just a whole lotta horse.
-He Bo got stuck house sitting for his sister while she went on a vacation with Hou Yi. He's waiting for the sitcom Hijinks that the Jade Rabbit will bring.
-Hercules is sobbing. He got kicked out of the 'All-Mighty Models' shoot after the 'Hunkules Bulge Scandal.'
-Hun Batz is hanging out at the jungle, and, surprisingly, having a good time with Xbalanque. Both are having fun being stars on their respective Ball Game leagues.
-Kali can be found at the local carnival, scowling at all the children and carnies. She never has a good time, but she always seems to end up here...
-Khepri is traveling the world, being a good boy, regardless of the season.
- Kukulkan and Medusa have a bet going on. They keep sneaking into various reptile houses, and are waiting to see how long it takes for one of them to get caught.
-Kumbha still sleeps. But warm.
-Kuzenbo is looking for his child. He swear, he just had him here in the parking lot!
-Mercury is busy organizing his trophy room. You need somewhere to put all those summer games medals!
-Neith is a happy girl. Summer means Comic-Con and other conventions. Conventions mean cosplay. Cosplay means fun÷
-Nu Wa is staying at home, video chatting with Susano. @blondberserker could probably give you an idea of what these consists of...
-Odin refuses to leave Valhalla, and because he's being a huffy baby, Ullr has to stay with him. He had plans!
-Poseidon is going through his annual rendition of 'A Little Mermaid.' So far, all his actresses for Ariel have drowned.
-Rama is going hiking, eager to break his record time for crossing all the mountains in Tibet. 'Coincidentally,' Ravana is also there, eager to race him from start to finish.
-Ratatoskr doesn't have Fenrir's luxury of anyone liking him enough to shave him, so he's moving to colder climates. His desire to cause trouble puts him in very Scrat-esque situations.
-It's feeding time for Scylla! With all of the summer harvests, more sailors are going by to trade, many who aren't aware of the monster's tale. It's gonna be the time of her life!
-Summer is a bit of a boring time for Serqet. The desert gets hotter, fewer people walk through, and less people get stung. So, it's the BBC for her.
-Let's face it. Sobek is the absolute best boy, who deserves the absolute best summer. All the fish are easier to get with the heavier rains, and the sun is so warm for him 5o curl up in. You go, you funky little scaly dude. @sobek-support
-Summer is just Sol being extra pissed because she's still in a chariot.
-Sylvanus and Grover are basically playing a Capitan Planet at this point, thought It's been nowhere as near as successful. Turns out kids aren't nearly as inclined to help you out if you're a strange old man
- Terra's hanging out with Pele this summer at the beach, where Terra actually has an excuse to be in a stone bikini. They don't do too many extravagant things, and mostly just walk the beaches, eat together, and chit chat.
-We all already know how The Morrigan feels about the beach...
-Thor and Zeus are both doing a creepy ass bar crawl at the beach places, and have a wager to see who can get the most ladies home. Fortunately, neither have been successful.
-Books... What else do you expect from Thoth besides 'light' summer reading?
-Xing Tian isn't a fan of the beach either. He always gets stared at because of the gaping maw on his chest, and his flamey nipples always burn off any shirts he wears. So he stays at home, moping a bit.
-Ymir just fucking melts and dies.
-Thong Kui. Get that image out of your head.

On cape names
Khepri, previously Weaver, previously Skitter: We're talking about cape names, right? To be honest, I don't think I'm the best person you could ask-- I'm not that imaginative when it comes to choosing names.
I mean, "Skitter" was just the name the Protectorate gave me when I was still deciding and I ended up adopting it for convenience's sake.
"Weaver" was...a spur of the moment decision. It made sense at the time. Would I change it if I had the chance to go back in time and have more time to think about it? Probably.
And "Khepri" wasn't even a conscious choice, more like an "I'm currently dead to the world and some people feel the need to come up with something that conveys how terrified of me they still are" choice. Again, I can't take the credit for it.
...Even if I'd like to, because it's cool as fuck.
Defiant, previously Armsmaster: I was very young when I chose my first cape name, and it shows I think. I mean, "Armsmaster"? It's the typical badass monicker an excited teenager would come up with.
I changed it to "Defiant" because it symbolizes everything I stand for now: bravery, justice at all costs, the will to stand tall, fight for a better tomorrow and atone for my past mistakes.
And also because my and Dragon's team can now be shortened to "D&D".
Number Man, previously Harbinger: A name is something important, whether we like it or not. It becomes part of who you are, it dictates how other people perceive you even before getting to know you.
I'm sure everyone knows King chose "Harbinger" for me when I joined his group. So you can imagine how excited I was to be able to choose a name for myself this time around. I'm not going to lie; I spent quite some time thinking about it before my official introduction to the organisation.
So the day finally arrives. I walk up to the Doctor, I shake her hand and the first thing she says? "Ah, Contessa! I see you brought the number man along!"
It was in that precise moment that I knew I was fucked.

Worm Liveblog: End.
So thats how Worm ends.... where do I begin?
I haven't done a serious liveblog for the second half because I just wanted to take it all in, but I guess I'm at the point now where the taking it in is over and I need to vomit out some words. The fact that I'm writing this one in a word processor instead of the Tumblr text editor means I'm already subconsciously knowing that this is going to be pretty long, so buckle up.
In short? It was awesome. Everything in the story came together perfectly. At the beginning I just couldn't concieve an ending that would involve Cauldron, Scion, Endbringers, Passengers, and all the various capes in a way that was satisfying. But it was pulled off pretty damn well.
Let's take a look at some of my predictions and use those as launch points for some discussion:
   - Arc 1: "Taylor remains adamant about being good even after enjoying the company of the villains. Her descent to evil will be a slow corruption, but the story will justify it by making the superheroes look bad."
She did indeed descend into madness as Khepri, with a large focus on self-justification. Taylor always thinks she's doing the right thing, which is a staple of any good villain. Except she wasn't truly a villain and did save the day in the end. Except she accept her villainy and wanted to die in the end. Except the heroes decided to keep her alive. So the morals are all over the place. In the end, Taylor gets a happy ending. With  (kinda) both her parents, and a self that isn't defined by her powers.  Skitter and Weaver were personas shaped by her Passenger, and for all intents and purposes were actually killed in the end. But Taylor, the little girl from the beginning of the story, gets the happy ending.
   - Arc 3: "the Birdcage sounds like an interesting location. And no story ever says “No one has ever escaped that prison!” without the protag later escaping that prison (or the big bad to show how big and bad they are)."
Nope. The  Birdcage was made rather pointless by Doormaker, despite the set-up that teleportation tricks wouldn't work. Even Kehpri, without much practice with Doorman's power, was able to break in and out easily. There wasn't the all out war in the Birdcage that I expected, but I expect a similar prison to be used in Ward, perhaps the same Birdcage but upgraded. At the very least it made Panacea much more tolerable and brought in Marquis, one of the coolest parahumans. But it also introduced Teacher, one of the more boring ones. Assuming Ward is a true direct sequel, I expect Teacher to go down in the first few arcs as the intro-villain before being surpassed by someone a thousand times more evil.
   - Arc 5: " It’s too obvious that Grue’s little sister will get powers".. " Regent’s gonna die real soon. He’s expendable."... "Taylor is going to get a good boost to her power soon"
Correct on all accounts. Imp is one of the best characters left alive by the end. Regent had to go because Taylor just ends up with a better version of his power. It's left pretty vague when she had her second trigger event thought. I'd guess sometime during Leviathan? It was after that, when she took over her  territory, that her multi-tasking powers really ramped up.
- Arc 10: "Everything happening went right over my head until they arrived at the Wards after being “caught”, which is to say I didn’t realize we were being introduced to Regent’s actual power of body possession. A power eerily similar to what I guessed Taylor’s endgame powers would be, just a bit more limited and requiring conscious movement on Regent’s part for every motion and not how Taylor just taps into natural instincts."
So let's talk about Khepri. Taylor finally thinks she has the power-limitation thing figured out, so she goes to Panacea who just... kinda gets it instantly? A bit odd that the ability for Taylor to go crazy like that was so easily reached and out of nowhere. But I guess Panacea had gotten to the point where she barely needed to second-guess messing with someone's head. So Taylor comes up with a crazy idea and 5 minutes later has powers worthy of instantly jumping to Class-S, taking control of every parahuman in existence with some quick synergy, combining Doormaker and his clairvoyent bf and ballooning in power like a good Binding of Isaac build. Thematically though, it works beautifully. She's become the Queen of her swarm, with all of humankind nothing but insects in comparison to a mighty godlike entity. Scion treated humans like we would ants, toying with them as one would burn ants with a magnifying glass. But as Taylor proved with her insects against humans, enough humans working together through a hivemind can overcome an entity thousands of times their scale. She killed the impenetrable Alexandria by commanding bugs, and now the immortal Scion by commanding humans. Wow you can really look back at the first few arcs where the teenage girl is learning about the heroes and say "yeah she fucking kills all of them eventually, weird huh?"
- Epilogue
Where does the story go now? Assuming again, that Ward is a standard sequel. Which it heavily implied by Bitch's epilogue, with trigger events now going haywire without Scion and being a very cool way to get his POV on the last few moments of his life. Teacher is doing his thing but again, I assume that wouldn't last for long into a sequel besides getting a new hero protag set-up with someone easy to fight. Dragon and Defiant had a very touching epilogue, and I'm excited that at least they might be around for a whole other 2 million word story. Unsarcastically: these characters are good enough to warrant ~44 YA novels worth of story.  I'd hope that Taylor doesn't make much more than a cameo though, her story is over. But if this story grew to be so epic in scale, its hard to imagine a sequel that wouldn't involve Earth Aleph getting fucked up. Imp is set-up to get a pretty good protag role, I'd wager one of the Heartbreaker kids as the most likely to get the main POV. Someone with the birthright of a villain proving themselves to be a Hero, in contrast to Taylor being a hero trapped as a villain and succoming to the role. Although I've figured out myself that Dragon already fills the role as her foil, being coded and trapped into being a Hero against her will, with the pun of being a "Wyrm". Which might have made for a cool sequel name, albiet a very confusing one when talked about out-loud.
Is a sequel to a nearly 2 million word story needed? I'd say.... yeah. There's still plenty left unanswered. The Endbringers for instance. It's implied that Eidolon made them, outside the knowledge of anyone else, but only really implied. They go silent after Scion goes down for some reason. How much did The Simurgh know of the future? She was responsible for setting up Panacea's stay in the Birdcage (fitting name here) and of the Yang-Ban Emperor being one that was critical for Taylor to have control over after Panacea fucked up her head. So did she know about Khepri? She was, after all, responsible for setting up Echidna, the only other Human-Turned-Endbringer. And what of Scion's partner? How did Cauldron kill something like that? Granted it was the more passive of the cherubic-twins. (Aranea's talk about Cherubs was before the Interlude about the Entity right? Let's check... Aranea's was in March 2013, 26.X Interlude was in August 2013.... pretty crazy to both have the idea of invincible serpents flying through the multiverse, reproducing by tearing their scales off, with one more aggressive and one more focused on passively studying humans, granted I’m taking some liberties but you get the idea) (Chuckles the Clown raised Scion calling it now).  But I guess the same odds as Vriska/Marceline being introduced the same summer with the defining traits of "grey skin, gay, and loves wearing red-colored boots".
This would be the part where I talk about how emotionally wrecked I am from this journey being over. Of investing in these characters and seeing them grow up. From clueless children to powerful pseudo-gods with the power to kill unfathomable monstrosities. Of the good times and the bad, of the nostalgia of the simple bank heist scenes, of taking a moment to remember those that didn't make it. Regent, Emma, Clockblocker, Grue, Taylor's virginity. Damn, Clockblocker dieing actually hurt me the most. Maybe I should say a few words about how Worm has changed me as a person and become one of those major pillars supporting my future that I'll someday look back on with "that specifically effected the way I Create" as Homestuck once did.
But no, I don't get to say that quite yet. Because even after 6 months. Of reading almost nightly since I started on the plane-ride home from spending a weekend across the country with my boyfriend, knowing it would be this long and still not see him again and deciding to start on this  journey to take my mind off being in such an emotional ride home. Thousand of feet in the air and reading about some girl trapped in a bathroom stall having juice poured on her head... Half a year dedicated to Worm, around 5 times longer than it took me to read Homestuck. Nearly 2 million words, an estimated 22 regular novels in length, longer than the entire Percy Jackson series I was obsessed with as a teenager (probably not anymore, theres way too many of those) and now, having read that much, what can I say now?
   There's still more I haven't read.
Guess this liveblog is gonna keep going into Ward

i forgot Dinos live so damn long... I was expecting a quick 3-4 year grind to just get him prepped for dragonification... Stinger went much more smoothly for what it was worth, although they were a little more lopsided stats wise; they just didnt have the well rounded gains of a dino breed. Still, took us a damn decade to get this dragon. But after all this I almost don't want to raise it right now? Which feels dumb...
I really love the whole baby into adult transition of the models for some of the monsters. Dino's isn't especially remarkable, the proportion of head to body just kinda slides around. But the baby Naga has such a slim physique compared to the super broad adult. And I know the baby dragon is just the goofiest looking compared to the adult's much more balanced proportions.(although the weird looking animation never changes)
Tumblr media
At present, my two senior monsters are Grenache the Papad, and Khepri the Style. And my left over spawns from when I went digging for a Stinger are:
Nuraghe the Golem: named after the style of megalithic architecture left over from ancient Sardinia
Morrigan the Pixel: Named after Morrigan the phantom queen of Irish mythology, basis of Morgan le Fay in Arthurian lore.
Buckbeard the Bloodshot: named after the GeGeGe no Kitaro character, a monstrous giant dark orb with a singular sinister eye.
Anning the Dixie: after Mary Anning, early pioneer of British paleontology.
Bixby the Ice Candy: named after Pearl Bixby Wait, creator of Jell-o.
Neagari the Bonsai: the term [根上がり] meaning "root risen" and refers to a bonsai aesthetic distinctive for its exposed roots.
Tumblr media
On the one hand I'd like to try a breed I haven't raised recently, but also I'm not sure what kind of fusion I want to aim for down the road...
Buckbeard would make for a good fusion with Khepri, but he and the offspring would be real brats to have to actually raise...
Bixby and Nuraghe wouldn't be a bad mix, but those are both slow moving wall tactics, and I don't know if I've got the patience to work through the tourney circuit like that...
Anning and Buckbeard or Anning and Morrigan aren't awful options either, if a little obviously one note.
I forget if ??? subtypes have a chance of carrying thru into fusions. It'd be cool to get some weird rare monsters other than Bonsai. (Although, honestly, I kind of lucked out; Bonsai is one of the more palatable rare breed designs. It's not just making Golem wear football gear, or turning Suezo into a baseball or something hokey like that.)

You’re back! I like this nick a lot. If it’s not too personal may I ask why you changed for a time? Also if you’re in the mood, someday could you tell us the story of how you picked each name? A hunk by any name is a hunk, I’m just curious.
Thank you for the ask i like knowing how people feel about my blog it makes me feel important lol
I changed for a while bc i dunno i was looking for a change and trying to see what fit beside the old reliable i even considered going back to the First Url that hasnt been used in 84 years (points if you know what it was tho)
Okay tho im feeling chatty (and trying to avoid post pizza naps) so its time for the story of how i picked my names! Im assuming u mean url and actual names/nicknames so thats what im gonna say.
Purplenickel: so this is what i thought was clever as a 20 year old (and still kinda do). My favorite color is purple. My last name is a shade of purple and my initials are Nick L. So its a play on words kind of. But its been a good url especially since it kinda flows with the various things i blog about.
Nickolas: i liked the idea of being named after Nike of Greece and also the meaning behind the name victory of the people which is Goals also St. Nicholas is cool even if im not into the whole christianity thing
Niko (knee ko): nickname i thought was cute and more androgynous than nick in times when nick is too masculine for me to want for myself.
Khepri (keh pree): @blue-cucco suggested this to me when i said i was looking for a unique K name in a conversation. Its the name of an Egyptian sun god, specifically dawn. He symbolizes new beginnings and the transition from night to day so theres some trans related symbolism there. He also is represented as a scarab. I dont know how much truth is in this but i read something when i was a little tot that said the zodiac equivalent of cancers crab in the egyptian tales was the scarab and since thats my zodiac sign i thought whoa its fate and immediately hooked it as my middle name.
