GM-less play.
I played GM-less for the first time recently! Me and the two guys I usually play Achtung! Cthulhu with wanted something else, and we seemed to be in a bit of an Avatar: The Last Airbender mood, but I am not a big fan of Avatar Legends personally.
Luckily, I have a giant pile of rules-light, setting-ambiguous game systems! The one I ended up picking was Paper-Free RPG by D.L. Juwelgeist, which, I seemed to recall, suggests GM-less play as an option. Being a forever GM, I was obviously pretty excited about the prospect! The other two agreed and we had a pretty good time just improvising.
As for the game itself, I played an earthbender, the other two played waterbenders. Waterbender A was a wise guru from the Foggy Swamp, whom I and Waterbender B travelled far and wide to learn from. This led pretty naturally into Waterbender A taking up a sort of pseudo-GM role, in the sense that he decided where we went and what we did there. From what I've read, that's fairly standard for GM-less games, players taking turns with which character takes charge for the time being.

I haven't been keeping up with the podcast, but in the space of a couple of days I've seen you and others talk and make/like content about Lancer, it looks like a really good system, could it be a possibility in the future of Critical Hit?
The current plan is for me to run a Lancer game after we finish this season of Achtung Chtulhu. Btw if you want to jump back in here’s the first episode of Stephen’s World War 2 pulp cosmic horror game: https://majorspoilers.com/2023/02/25/critical-hit-687-lost-in-the-woods-pans01e01/

Played Achtung Cthulhu today and my crowning achievement was seeing demolition charges on my character sheet and going "Ah. You know what disrupts cthulhu rituals? Explosions."
Then in the finale the dm told us we were in the room under the ritual chambers and I was like "PERFECT I'm putting charges on the ceiling" and proceeded to blow the floor out from under the head cultist
It was pretty great

Heart: The City Beneath is finally on the roster for my FLGS RPG club (it's February's game) and I'm so excited I could explode. I'm hoping I can get some people to play a longer, once a month game because the little lore bits are so interesting.

Achtung: Cthulhu Tactics: Non-Combat
When on a mission, you start out of combat. When you see an enemy, you enter combat. When you defeat the last enemy in the group, you go back to non-combat.
The game has Luck, which acts like shields. Luck, or cosmic probability, are extremely important in Cthulhu Mythos.
When you defeat the last enemy in an area, your character reload, stack-up, and their Luck regenerates. When out of combat, you move one character, and the other characters will form up behind/beside them. Movement doesn't take turns, but still uses the same movement engine. This makes the non-combat segments a LOT easier to get through, rather than having to move every single individual character.
Oh, and characters have unlimited reloads, because it's unlikely they would exhaust frontline ammunition in a single mission. Weapons mods have their own slot, and are not permanent. One of the most frustrating things about XCOM.

Threw a very quick paint job on this Achtung Cthulhu model, and I'm pretty happy with it. Not sure what I'll do with it, but I know how to finish the rest of the box, anyway.

I wasn't aware I was going to be the only illustrator in this new volume of Acthung! Cthulhu's Halloween Horrors, it's such an honor 🖤. I've been wanting to embrace my "horror artist" identity more fully this year and the timing for this project was just perfect.
Due to some promotional videos I can already mention that this is just one of my many works for the A!C universe, which is completely awesome, by the way. Fighting nazis in WWII AND cosmic horrors? That's my kind of thing right there.
"Welcome to another chilling edition of Halloween Horrors – are you ready to be terrorised as Achtung! Cthulhu presents its now annual offering of ghosts, ghouls, and things that go bump in the night!?
This year (2023) we’ve a special treat with five FREE fantastically frightening Halloween Horrors from the devious mind of acclaimed horror writer Bill Heron, all ready to unleash a reign of terror to your RPG games!"
Grab the pdf for FREE right now, no tricks! 🎃. There are a few WIP images of these creatures in the page below as well: https://www.modiphius.net/pages/halloween-horrors
"Don’t forget to download the FREE scenario Mysteries of the Manor, an exciting mission set in a remote English country house under siege by the Black Sun. Can your agents rescue the captives before a dark tome is discovered and the Halloween Horrors are released?
Even though both are specially written for Achtung! Cthulhu, they can be readily adapted for other gaming systems. Enjoy!"
