Actually curious as to what people’s general opinion of Ozbert is in this year of 2023. Does shipping them equate to getting hashtag cancelled? Are they still The OTP of the series?? Or are they strictly Platonic Besties For Life. I do not know
It’s weird tho bc obviously if you’ve read the manga you KNOW their situation is very Complicated™️. When they were both the same age it was fine but then Oz got yeeted into the Abyss and time jumped 10 years forward while he was in there for like 3 days and suddenly Gil’s like. 9 years older than him. But then Uncle Oscar still classifies Oz as being 25 even tho he’s physically 15. And then we find out that Oz’s body isn’t even HIS it belongs to Jack so that’s messed up. AND we find out Gil’s actually not just 24 he’s OVER 100 years old bc Baskerville shit. And THEN we find out Oz is actually the true B Rabbit so that makes it so he’s probably even older than Gil is. When we get to the end of the series they’re both canonically confirmed to be hundred(s) of years old so I’m sitting here like. Well,
ALSO looking at these manga panels and official artworks and stuff from the anime I’m like
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, there’s definitely SOMETHING going on there, that’s for sure,
#And don’t even get me STARTED on the omakes. Holy shit#Shima speaks#Anyway either way they are a wonderful duo.#Gil’s always been SO ride or die for Oz and I respect that#I just see them together and I’m like 🥰 There they are. My boys#Pandora Hearts spoilers#Pandora Hearts#Ozbert#Oz Vessalius#Gilbert Nightray#They’re not straight. I know THAT for a fact. LOL#And see there’s the appealing thing. The absolute ANGST involved#Gil who grew up harboring feelings for Oz but knowing it was wrong and that he could never ever act upon them#And by the time he’s an adult he still has some sort of feelings for Oz. It’s very complex#And then out pops Oz from the Abyss!! And he doesn’t look ANY different from the last time Gil saw him#Meanwhile Oz who was still figuring things out but who was almost sure he liked Gil That Way#And then it hits HARD when he’s in the Abyss not even knowing if Gil is alive#And when he finds out Gil’s all grown up.#I mean YEAH I’d develop a massive crush too are you KIDDING#It’d be frustrating tho bc Oz is still technically a teenager.#But then he figures out oh hey I’m actually? A being that’s existed for a LONG long time. And one that isn’t even human#So I can totally see him whole heartedly chasing after Gil once he realizes that#Anyway. Rant over sorry LOL#Either way. Again. They’re so so close in canon there is SOMETHING going on between them#(Not to mention the fact the anime really loved that and tried hinting at it super obviously)

Clive Rosfield x fem reader, based on this request. Angsty fluff, minor game spoilers.

-
You’d experienced a lot of hurt in your life.
It had hurt when, days after your 14th Name Day, you’d manifested magick without a crystal. Your father had marched you up to the constable’s office with no hesitation, your mother and sister at the door watching, but not protesting as you were dragged away. Your father wouldn’t even look at you as you sobbed, begging him to forgive you, that you didn’t mean it, but he was unmoved. The hurt of being so easily flung aside by people you thought were meant to love you unconditionally.
It had hurt when you’d been Branded a few days afterwards - strapped down to a table as a soldier had a hand grasped around your throat to keep you still, all whilst the Brand Master inked your skin. It was rare to awaken so late and they couldn’t risk losing such a healthy Bearer to the poisoned black carved into your skin, or so you’d overheard, so it was imperative you did not move. If your face wasn’t burning, your throat was from the taunting squeeze of your windpipe to keep you still.
It had hurt when a series of masters had worked you to the bone from the off. When they’d kicked, punched, whipped you for the days they felt you weren’t performing your best, that you were being lazy, not that you were drained of energy from a diet of scraps.
It had hurt knowing your life had a price, a physical amount of gil exchanged between hands, and one which lessened as you aged. It had hurt when your intoxicated master tried to flog you on the street to afford a few more pints of ale, until Cid came to your rescue.
It had hurt the day you’d had your Brand removed, despite the draught Tarja had you drink in preparation. The Brand removal was necessary when you joined the Cursebreakers – an unescorted Branded was too much of a target, after all. Tarja’s touch was gentle, her scalpel hand practiced and cautious, but it was never going to be pain-free.
All that hurt in your life, but this, you think - as you watch Clive and Jill deep in conversation, the way his eyes seem to light up when she places her hand on his arm - is the worst hurt of all.
You hadn’t meant to fall in love with Clive Rosfield.
There had been many Bearers easy on the eye across the years, but romance was strictly forbidden. Being caught in too close proximity with one another was enough to warrant a beating in many master’s eyes, the guilty parties made example of so much that you didn’t even dare to dream of finding love.
Even after settling down in the Hideaway, you hadn’t thought of it…
Until Clive.
Somehow, over the years, he’d crept his way into your heart, slowly and cautiously, and you don’t know how he did, but he’s there now and it hurts.
You’d met Jill in the infirmary. You weren’t a physicker by any means, but Tarja said your gentle manner was ideal for comforting those who were in pain or sick, so you’d been helping out there when Jill was first brought in, clinging to life.
The two of you had become best friends almost instantly – helping someone in those early days of recovery bonds two like nothing else - and your friendship had only grown stronger over the years. It felt like having your sister back, the jokes and secrets once again shared as she taught you how to braid your hair. You’d sobbed for each other in her room one night - for lost childhoods, lost dreams, lost family.
Before any feelings towards Clive had begun to develop within you, you’d gently teased her about him – asking her if he was her suitor.
“Clive?” She smiled, stifling a laugh. “No, he’s practically my brother. I love him, but not like that.”
Being friends with Jill had led to being friends with Clive, naturally. There had been tears when they’d returned from Drake’s Head sans Cid after Titan’s attack on the Hideaway - tears in relief at each other’s safety and tears for those lost. You’d been one of the lucky ones, escaping with minimal injury and had immediately thrown yourself into helping find and build the new Hideaway on the blighted lake. There was always something to be done – endless carpentry work, covert supply runs, shifts in the infirmary, taking turns making big batches of stews before Molly stepped up to save everyone the stomach ache.
At the turn of the year in the new Hideaway, the ale had been flowing at the Tub & Crown – music playing away on the orchestrator in a rare night of celebration. There was still work to do – the base would require constant maintenance and expansion of course, and not to mention the issue of the Mothercrystals themselves – but the mood was joyful.
Otto had even asked Lady Charon for a dance, much to everyone’s amusement. Everyone had held their breath, bracing themselves for her quick-witted tongue, but Charon had shrugged and accepted his outstretched hand. As they waltzed, others begun to join them, and you watched with an enchanted smile on your face. It felt like almost something out of a fairytale. Gav soon approached your table and extended a hand to Jill in a flourish, she is soon whisked away into the fray, laughing as Gav definitely has two left feet.
An outstretched hand appears to your side.
“May I have this dance, my lady?” You turn to see Clive, not dressed in his full armour, just his white undershirt and leather breeches. He seems softer for it, more relaxed in casual attire for a change.
“I… I don’t know how, I’m afraid.” You shake your head at his offer – you were never a lady of the court after all. Not like Jill.
“I assure you I am very out of practice, so we’ll do fine together. Please?” It must be the ale, you think, as you relent and take his hand.
He pulls you to your feet with ease and escorts you to the middle of the makeshift dance floor, placing his other hand on the small of your back and pulling you close.
“Just follow my lead – like our lessons in the pit.” He smiles, and your heart thuds.
You soon fall into the cautious rhythm – he steps forward, you step back. His eyes flick between yours and behind you, making sure you’re not going to collide into any of the other couples, particularly the enthusiastic Gav. Your face feels hot under Clive’s soft gaze. What is this feeling?
The music comes to an end too soon.
“Thank you, Clive.” You say, softly.
He smiles, pressing a kiss to your knuckles. “My lady, the pleasure was mine.”
You stare at one another, perhaps a second too long, when there’s a loud crash – Gav has missed the stool in his eagerness to get back to his pint.
“Who moved my seat?!”
Laughter echo arounds the hall and the moment is lost then, but you remember it with a warm feeling in your stomach, a smile on your face as you drift off to sleep in your bed that day.
And the feeling only grows and grows…
--
A few months have passed since the turn of the year and life at the Hideaway remains busy – the Fallen relic constantly needs restructuring to accommodate new arrivals of freed Bearers after they had been nursed back to health in the infirmary, before you’d begin to assist them in adjusting to their new found freedom – albeit limited to the confines of the Hideaway - but freedom none-the-less.
Things have been somewhat different lately. Jill and Clive are often out on excursions together and when they are both back within the Hideaway, they have started to secrete themselves away on an evening to his chambers. It’s hard not to feel left out. Dominant business, you’d try to reassure yourself. A Bearer like yourself was nothing like the power an Eikon possessed. Jill doesn’t say what she’s been up to and you don’t pry, but she seems happier recently. Whenever you see her, she gets almost giggly, like she has a secret you’re not privy too.
And now, seeing the two of them sat at the table in the far corner, as if not to be disturbed, conferring closely, the physical contact, it becomes all too clear and it hurts.
“Gil for your thoughts, like?”
You jump at the sound of Gav’s voice and realise he’s stood right in front of you. You hadn’t even noticed him climbing the stairs, so fixated on the moment between Clive and Jill. You readjust the pile of books in your arms - Vivian had asked you to fetch a number of them from the shelves as she poured over the latest correspondences and, wanting to keep occupied, you had agreed.
“Oh.” You force a smile, though your heart is beating a mile a minute. “It’s nothing. I’m tired, I think.”
“That’s no surprise – you seem to be helping everyone at the moment.” He gestures to the books.
“I like to keep busy.”
At that moment, Jill lifts her hand from Clive’s arm and subtly gestures to you, but you keep your eyes focused on Gav. There’s a sweet smile on Clive’s face when he locates you with those kind blue eyes. He nods his head in acknowledgment, beckoning you over with his own hand.
It’s easier to pretend you haven’t seen the invite, that your eyes were fixed elsewhere.
There’s no fun in being a third wheel. You want to be happy for them, but there’s a horrible gnawing in your stomach, a constant lump in your throat. You’re jealous – you know it’s childish, pathetic, selfish behaviour and it hurts because you love Jill, you want her to be happy.
It’s easier to try and keep your distance, you conclude, and head out towards the map room, missing Jill’s puzzled expression and Clive’s crestfallen look.
--
The next day, they’d been embracing near the stairs to the side of the lift early afternoon – the very lift you needed to get in. Eyes cast down, task in mind, you tried to walk past unnoticed.
“..I don’t know what I’d do without you, Jill.”
The stabbing pain in your chest intensifies as you overhear so you quicken your pace, thinking you’ll get in and hit the lever without notice, but Jill steps in front of you, a warm smile on her face as always.
“There you are. We’ve been looking for you all over.”
“Can’t stop,” the lie comes easy, a false smile plastered on your face in return. “Tarja needs more herbs for the infirmary, so I’m heading to the mainland.”
“Well, allow me to accompany you.” Clive steps forward.
“No need. Cole’s waiting at the dock already for me.” You reply, stepping around Jill and backwards into the lift, slamming the lever with a little more force than strictly necessary.
--
No-one wants your help today. It’s odd. You’ve been round the Hideaway twice making sure no jobs had popped up since you’d last enquired. Despite everything seeming as busy as usual, everyone reassures you with various iterations of, “All’s in hand, thank you. Why don’t you take the day off?”
Not knowing what to do with yourself, you’d retreated to the solar you shared with Jill. It’s close quarters, true, but enough for two beds and a small dresser, holding a mirror. When Jill hadn’t been away from the Hideaway, you’d taken to getting up early and retiring late, making sure you could only exchange pleasantries about your days – you worried any prolonged interaction would cause your façade to crack. You love her, you should be happy for her, but you’re worried jealousy might poison your words.
You look in the mirror, your eyes immediately drawn to your Brand scar. Jill is a proper lady – elegant, poised, a Dominant, her cheeks smooth and unmarred. They’re perfect together. Why can’t your heart catch up with your head?
The door opens. Jill walks in, pausing as she places her hands on her hips as if she’s caught you in the act of something.
“Come on, out with it.”
“Out with what?” You feign ignorance.
“You’ve been avoiding me for days.”
“No, I haven’t.” You sit down on the bed, picking at a loose thread on the sheet. You should take it to Hortense. “Just busy. You know how it is.”
“You’ve always been a bad liar.” She chides, sitting down on her own bed. “Please. I’m worried about you.”
“I’m fine.” You smile, trying your best to make sure it reaches your eyes under her scrutinizing gaze. “No need to fuss.”
“You rise early, retire late – you’re burning yourself out.”
“It’s not every day. Besides…” jealousy tinges your tone - your will weakened by heartache and tiredness, “..you’ve been away with Clive so much of late, or in his chambers, you wouldn’t know.”
Jill stares at you for a moment, before her eyes widened in realization. “Clive and I-“
You get to your feet, your eyes burning, you can’t hear it out loud. “I’ve got to go.” And you run as if an Eikon was at your heels.
--
You’re sat at the edge of the a partially constructed platform towards the back of the Hideaway that was slowly being expanded. They hadn’t got much further than increasing the floorspace, but you dangled your legs off the side, watching the waters lap below and let the tears flow at last.
A wet nose nuzzles at your arm, a soft whine.
“Hello, Torgal.” Your voice thick with tears, you rub his soft ears. He accepts your attentions for a moment before he softly trots away as quick as he came, cementing your pitiful mood.
A few minutes pass before you hear footsteps approach.
“Good boy, Torgal.” Clive praises his faithful wolf and you freeze. You can’t run away this time – the only exit being the waters below.
“Torgal kindly helped me to find your hiding place.”
You rub your face with the heel of your hand but you worry it’s too late, that your voice is going to give you away. “Surely everyone hides in a hideaway.” Your attempt at a light-hearted tone sounds a little too forced through the tightness in your throat.
“True.” Hesitation. “May I?”
“O-of course.” You dig your fingernails into your palm, hoping to gain composure as Clive sits down besides you. There isn’t a lot of space on the ledge you had chosen, his knee knocking into yours as he sits.
“We’ve missed your company of late. I hear you’ve been assisting almost everyone here.”
“Always something to do.” You shrug, keeping your eyes fixed on your boots. “Though no-one seemed to want me today.”
“Ah, that was my doing. I asked them for respite – you’ve been working hard.”
“Oh.” Your heart is hammering at the proximity between the two of you. Can he hear it?
“Have I… offended you in some way?” He sounds nervous.
“Not at all.”
“You seem unable to meet my eyes recently.”
You know you should look at him then, to suggest he’s wrong, but they still sting with tears and you don’t want him to see you like this. You don’t want his pity. You can’t answer.
Clive continues. “You seem to avoid me at all costs. Jill believes so too. She says you’re early to rise and late to bed, constantly on the move.”
“There’s just a lot to do.”
“You do not have to do it all.”
You let out a dry laugh. “Says you.”
Another pause.
“Please...” His voice cracks ever so slightly with his request. “Look at me.”
You wish on Metia for strength – you feel he’d stay here all night if he must – and turn. The tell-tale tears on your cheeks highlighted in the moon’s glow.
He looks crestfallen, his hand twitches in his lap – he wants to brush away the tears. “I’ve upset you.”
You shake your head, averting your gaze again. “You haven’t.”
“What troubles you, then?”
“I…” You swallow. “I want something.”
“Then you shall have it.” Clive states, confidently. “After all, you do so much for the Hideaway and everyone in it. All you need to do is ask.”
“No. I… I want something I cannot have.”
“I don’t know about that. We destroyed a Mothercrystal.”
“No, it isn't like that. I really cannot have this.”
“Tell me - please. I cannot stand to see you this way a moment longer.” He places his hand on yours as he leans in – it can’t be deliberate. “I will do whatever it takes to see you smile again.”
A fresh wave of tears threatens to spill and you turn your head in towards your shoulder. It is only there for a moment when fingers grasp your chin so gently, tilting it back towards him and forcing you to meet those blue eyes once more.
“Please.”
You can’t refuse him any longer. The vortex of emotions inside is too much. Maybe - maybe - if you let it out, you could try and move on than wallow forever more in this hole of self-pity.
“I want you.”
He blinks, his expression unchanged. Your heart is beating too fast, you feel sick, things will never be the same again-
His lips are on yours. Clive Rosfield is kissing you. You’re too stunned to reciprocate for a second, but then you pull back, looking alarmed.
“But Jill…“
“What about Jill?” His tone is one of confusion.
“You’re with Jill.”
“I am not." He looks almost amused. "I care for her, true, but as a sister.”
“But the two of you… I’ve seen you. Secret conversations at all hours and…”
“We were talking about you.” Clive looks embarrassed. “I… I felt unable to express my intentions. Jill was determined to give me encouragement. I’ve been trying to get a moment with you all week.”
Your heart is skipping in a confusing way. “Your intentions?”
“You consume my thoughts when you are in and out of sight. I don’t know how you did it. You have been a constant by my side these last few years and I feel myself yearn more for you every passing day.” He places a hand on your cheek. “I was becoming insufferable away from the Hideaway with my talk of you, or so Jill claims.”
Your face is burning red at his sweet words, his soft touch upon your face, the admiration in his eyes. He leans forward again, his lips pressed against yours gently at first as you fall into a clumsy rhythm – both shy and a little unsure at first.
His teeth nip your bottom lip, coaxing your mouth open so your tongues intertwine. You place your hand on his chest – something you’ve only ever dreamed of – and he wraps you up in his arms, pulling you close, kissing you as if he needs it to live.
Clive pulls back, allowing the two of you to catch your breath, before he smiles at you.
“You don’t need to be in want of me, my darling, for I am already yours.”

estinien could be just plainly bad with coin, yes, but have we considered he started splurging like an outrageous idiot to get back at tataru and krile when he didn't want to be with the scions. he's a grown-ass man, he knows how money works, and it's on company dime, right? surely the scions have deep pockets. he keeps it up when he realizes it gets him out of coinpurse duty.
now he makes one bone-headed purchase whenever he starts working with a scion that hasn't heard yet and nods to himself like "ah yes another day another bookkeeping task avoided." after realizing tataru holds the scions' budget together with blood, sweat, and tears, he feels bad about running up the tab in shadowbringers so he uses his own money. he tells himself it's for everybody's benefit anyway. it explains why he knows the map guy was ripping him off
aymeric can't find out cause he would know instantly and wonder for a second if estinien had smashed his head in a jump recently. why else would estinien, who has traveled all over the world on his own gil now, not know how much a hair tie should cost?
one day soon estinien shall look in the mirror and realize that, among other deeply startling self-realizations he has had in the last few years, if he is willing to pay for this rigamarole it may mean he is, in fact, Bad with Coin
(i do not actually think this is what happened, cant see him keeping up a charade like this, and estinien being bad with coin is funny on its own. but. maybe he also knows if he were charge of money and if alphinaud gave him one 🥺 over not having a big enough allowance he would have to scold alphinaud but would also end up giving him the money)

Glorfindel the Child Balrog Slayer
The songs often spoke of the youthfulness of Glorfindel of Gondolin, Lord of the House of the Golden Flower. That did not prepare Elrond to see the newly returned Balrog Slayer in person.
The young elf sat perched on the edge of his desk, golden hair spread around him in an unruly mane. He swung his feet as he waited, his keen gaze focused on one of the tapestries decorating and warming the Lord of Imladris’ office. This one depicted a scene from the triumph of the host of Valinor in defeating the Great Enemy once again. He was so absorbed in the images (did he recognize any of those Eldar? The tapestry was so skillfully crafted that Elrond would not be surprised if he did), that he gave no indication of noticing the appearance of the person for whom he was waiting.
“Welcome, Lord Glorfindel,” Elrond said, smoothing over his shock at seeing a youth hardly out of childhood when he expected a grown warrior. “It is an honor to meet you.”
Glorfindel hopped off the desk. His hair pulled a few loose papers out of place as it slid off to hang around his knees. The old tales certainly did not embellish that aspect of the lord of Gondolin. He bowed, hair sweeping forward to brush the floor (how often did he have to wash and clean it? Even in peace, hair that long wasn’t practical).
“My Lord Elrond,” He said in a voice as light as he was youthful. A broad smile brightened his face further as he straightened to address him, his eyes sparkling with a subtle light. “It is my honor to journey here to meet you. I follow where Manwë guides, but my heart grew gladder still when Círdan spoke somewhat of Imladris’s Lord, for I knew little of you and I worried somewhat in my mind over what sort of leader the Valar sent me to serve. But I see now my concerns were for not, for you are wiser and more just still even than Turgon.”
The torrent of words flooded over Elrond and he felt as though he must steady himself against the onslaught lest it sweep him off his feet. He gestured at the armchairs to one side of the office, inviting his guest to take a seat with him.
Glorfindel did, easily tossing his hair to one side so he would not sit on it.
“I admit,” Elrond said when they were both settled. “While Círdan sent a message explaining your return from the Halls of Mandos, I find myself unsure why you would be sent here.” The letter said the fallen hero came from across the sea with a message for High King Gil-Galad in Mithlond. That duty quickly completed, Elrond could see no reason for him to come so far east. Why not go back to Aman on one of Círdan ships?
Glorfindel shrugged in his light travel tunic, apparently unbothered by the mystery. “They will that I serve you until such time as they bid otherwise.”
“Serve me?” Elrond repeated, trying to keep up. He was still trying to get used to the fact that this youth knew his grandparents and great-grandparents, and had slain a balrog in defense of his people.
Jumping up, the young elf reached toward his hip as though to unsheath a sword. Realizing that he wasn’t wearing one, he settled for placing his fist over his chest as he knelt on the thick rug at Elrond’s feet. He bowed his head and said, “Elrond of Many Houses, Lord of Imladris, Heir to Thingol and Fingolfin, Child of Melian and Friend of Men, I, Glorfindel, solemnly pledge my work and my life to your hands-”
Elrond would have liked to stop him there before any promise could be sworn, but he couldn’t seem to find his voice fast enough. He did not want anyone, least of all someone barely older than his own sons, binding themself to him.
“-to serve and to follow in whatsoever part you desire until the breaking of the world or that day when the Valar have need of me again.”
This really was not how he wanted the day to go.
“I am yours to command.” Glorfindel finished. He stayed where he was, waiting for some sign from the lord he pledged himself to.
After several quiet seconds, Elrond said, “You are welcome to stay in Imladris and join my house, but we have no need for oaths here. Do not swear yourself to me or anyone else, but serve only for as long as you wish.” He crouched before him and, taking the youth by his strong shoulders, drew him up to stand with him.
Glorfindel quickly smiled before Elrond could see his expression. He did not wish to hurt him by rejecting the show of loyalty, but there was no need for those kinds of dangerous promises in this age. The number of former Fëanorians in the valley made promises stronger than ‘I will’ or ‘I will not’ something of a taboo.
“My apologies, Lord Elrond,” Said Glorfindel with a small laugh. “I’ve missed a great many changes. Forgive my foolishness as I learn.”
Elrond smiled as he looked into his earnest eyes. It was strange being at eye level with one so young. Few elves who grew up in the light of the trees remained in Middle-earth, and fewer still in hidden Imladris. He sometimes forgot how tall they were. “Your apology is unneeded but accepted. My steward Lindir can help you get settled. Unless you’ve already done that?”
He did not look or smell like he’d spent the last several weeks riding a horse through the wilds, so perhaps he’d seen to himself before coming to meet with him. There were plenty of families that would welcome a visitor to the valley. Though it was odd that he hadn’t changed out of his travel clothes.
Glorfindel shook his head, hair swinging side to side. “I came straight here. Well,” He corrected himself. “I bathed in a stream first and loosed the horse that bore me here to graze, then I came straight here.”
The lord wondered which field the horse was in how and hoped whichever crop grew there would not hurt the animal. He’d send someone to find and bring it to the stables as soon as he finished here. “Lindir will happily help sort you out. If there is nothing else we need to discuss, I’ll let you go get settled.”
“Thank you, My Lord.” Glorfindel bowed slightly again.
“His office is up the flight of stairs through the west hall. If he isn’t there, ask anyone to help you find him.” Elrond said after him as he left.
Sitting down in the soft chair again, Elrond rubbed a hand over his tired eyes, the gem on his ring glittering in the light. An elf practically plucked straight from the old days of Gondolin and dropped into Imladris would be interesting if nothing else. He should probably let Erestor know about the arrival of one of the Gondolindrim before they accidentally bump into each other.

Part three of my little series on the Rivendell guards! Meet Hrivossa here and Celecoll here! Today we're covering the founding of Rivendell in the late Second Age, and my headcanons for how it happened, as well as how Elrond and Celecoll met.
It is the Second Age– 1697 to be exact
(Fair warning I've messed with the timeline and events a bit, but this isn't too far off of canon)
Eregion has just been destroyed
Elrond was there as Gil-Galad's lieutenant; he was there mostly alone, no one expected the city to fall so fast
Elrond was there with Erestor and a few others, which should've been fine, but he gets separated from them in the fighting and ended up unconscious
In the aftermath Elrond is actually captured by Sauron's forces, though not immediately identified
And while the party of orcs was dragging him off to Sauron's fortress, a vaguely feral figure in a cloak stepped in to save him
Everyone meet Celecoll again! She's been living alone in the woods hunting Morgoth's forces and refusing to engage with society for the past couple thousand years! I'm sure she's fine
(Yes, she does know that Doriath fell after she left, yes, that did compound the guilt crisis, yes, she did almost drown when Beleriand sunk, yes, this has all been amazing for her state of mind)
Anyway Elrond wakes up in her camp with his injuries treated, very quickly realizes that Celecoll's doing not great, and manages to convince her that he really needs as escort back to Lindon
(Look, Celecoll is an old soldier clearly suffering from some flavor of trauma, and Elrond really wants to help her, even if he knows she doesn't feel like she deserves that help)
Problem: Morgoth's armies have completely cut them off from Lindon; hell, no one in Lindon even knows if anyone survived the Fall of Eregion
Elrond manages to join back up with Erestor and the others, who were able to escape before being captured with a few of Eregion's people
They also meet Glorfindel, who rode out of Lindon on his own when he heard about the fall of Eregion and just managed to sneak past Sauron's lines before everything really went to shit
Elrond quickly realizes they're all going to die if they stay out in the open, and instead leads them to a valley that had caught his eye when he was traveling the region earlier– a place hidden and defensible enough for them to hunker down there until relief comes
It had called to him, and he'd wanted to come back to it, but hadn't had the chance
On the way, they also join up with a few orcs who are– look, it's complicated, there was a kidnapping and some surprisingly productive cultural exchange– they're basically Elrond's friends, and because they turned traitor against Sauron, they're also liable to be killed
Normally, several people there (especially Celecoll) would be completely unwilling to team up with orcs, but the situation is dire enough that nobody complains about a few extra sets of eyes and hands to help out
Tension dies dies pretty quickly between everyone all things considered, there's not a lot of room for distrust or anger when you're all constantly fighting for your lives together
When they finally reach the valley, they are as follows: Elrond, Erestor, Glorfindel, Celecoll, and a few assorted elves, half-elves, and orcs
There are a couple dozen of them total
And they have to turn the valley into a siege fortress in the hopes that someone will find them before Sauron's army exterminates them all
Given the circumstances, it's maybe unsurprising that they don't waste too much time coming up with a name for the valley
They call in 'Rivendell'
Here's the part where I play with the timeline a little– the siege ends up lasting for years
By that point, the people of Rivendell– especially Elrond– have grown very attached to their valley
And Celecoll decides to stick around, and try her hand at being a guard again
Tomorrow I'll write about what happened after the seige broke, as well as the eternal feud between Celecoll and Hrivossa. Also, the Tolkien wiki ended up being super useful for this post!

Well, the Descendants Hunger Games Au won't leave my mind so here's more on Gil, and the year he and Mal were in the games:
WARNING: While I'm not going into major detail, this is still a bit gory.
Gil has grown up knowing that he'd likely end up in the games. Most VK's do, with only a few never making it in, generally by bribery, running away, or just being extremely lucky.
He knows that his father has bribed people to make sure that the few girls Gaston has claimed never made it onto the Isle of Doom. Not for their safety, but so they can continue to care for Gaston and his sons.
Just like he knows his father has made bribes to make sure that the twins will never have to compete against boys a lot stronger than them.
Gil can be naive, but he's not naive enough to believe his father would do the same for him.
So, he's trained for his entire life. When it's finally his turn, he breathes a sigh of relief that he's not up against Harry.
He knows the general rules of the game, the main being to come out alive. He also knows that usually the boys hunt the other boys, and the girls hunt each other. Although, the games are also used to get rid of the people you hate regardless of their gender.
It was a few days into the games, and he had already taken some others out (which he was trying not to think about), when he heard bloodcurdling screams, screams that didn't match up to the ones he had already heard. While he knew it would be smarter to go away from them, he went towards them anyways.
He found a group of boys and girls surrounding Mal, using chains to cut her wings and wrap her body.
He didn't care that it was dumb, all he knew was that Mal and Uma were once close and Mal helped slip food to his sisters, so he jumped in.
The fight was going against them, and he was getting closer to Mal when purple flames shot from the ground, taking the vk's around them.
Not knowing what they were, Gil dragged Mal out of the chains and got her out of there, her wings had gotten caught on rocks during the fight and fell into the sea.
They hid in the ruins of a castle over the next few days, while Gil did his best to care for Mal. This is when he finds out about Hades, and Mal makes him swear to never tell anyone. She can barely stand, barely breathe, let alone try to force him to do anything, but he agrees because for once in his life he saw fear in Mal's eyes.
Eventually, over the course week, a few kids make their way to the castle and one by one Gil and Mal take them out, despite Mal growing weaker and weaker. By the end, they can't wait anymore and they leave the ruins during a thunderstorm.
The remaining four people ambush them, and Gil gets stabbed. Mal is barely holding on, but Gil watches as she raises her arms and screams, flames circling them. Unlike the last time he saw the flames, where they seemed out of control and actively protecting Mal, these go straight to their targets.
Gil doesn't pay attention to the screams, he can't or he'd go insane. Instead, he catches Mal as she faints and he rushes her towards the boats.
It's another day before the goblins come. Mal is fighting to stay conscious and doing her best to walk on her own. Wounds aside, she has to relearn to walk now that she no longer has wings.
The goblins aren't surprised that they made it out. At least, they aren't surprised that Mal made it out, neither one seemed to recognize Gil.
On the boat ride back to the main island, Mal reminds Gil of his promise, and he once again swears he won't tell. Neither acknowledge how Mal leans into him, or how he's shielding her.
Once they reach the Isle, multiple VK's rush to the boat, with some curious adults following. There are screams and cries as always, but no one tries to attack them or take revenge. At least, not now.
Gil knows that he should let Jay take over, he knows that he should walk to Uma and Harry, but instead he continues to help Mal. He stays close even when Jay pulls her into his arms.
More surprising to the three, Mal pulls Gil along as Jay helps her away from the crowd.
This was the start of the two crews alliance. Because just like many of the previous "winners", Gil and Mal formed a bond on that island, and it wasn't one that was going to easily break.

Gil takes care of Thena very secretly while she still has her bullet wound. Thena learns that he is the strongest guard here and yet the most kindest and gentlest of them all. Plus she can’t resist touching his feathers 🤭
"Thena?"
"Up here!" she called back to him. She could hear him climbing from the branches holding her nest up to the canopy where she was sitting (hiding). "Careful."
Gilgamesh had such large and magnificent wings. She had cleared a path for herself, of course, but she hated the idea of him snagging any of his beautifully dark feathers on his way up.
"Hey," he huffed, finally emerging in the canopy with her. His wings rustled behind him as he settled himself on the same branch. "How did you get up here?"
She smiled. He had been very vigilant about her injury since she had disclosed it to him. He even snuck her extra food in hopes the protein would help her heal faster. "Carefully, rest assured. I've started coming up here to watch the sunrise. And it assures that Druig and Ikaris will leave me be and seek their own food."
Gil chuckled, "did you find food for them when they were fledglings?"
Thena rolled her eyes at it. "I do not know of yourself, but my brothers knew I was the best hunter of us, so they would half-attempt to fish until I assuredly brought back the best yield for us to share."
Gil rolled his eyes as well, although they did share in their laughter. "I guess that shouldn't surprise me."
"Even when Ikaris started hunting in earnest, he's too impatient to skim the water at a reasonable pace, so everything slips from his grasp," she shrugged, picking at a few berries she had in a leaf cup. "But he can crack open shellfish better than I, I must admit."
"You like shellfish?"
"Scallops and shrimp are sweeter than oysters and muscles," she commented freely, barely even noticing as Gil angled himself, running his hands over her wings. She shifted in her position, turning her back to him so he could examine her side.
"Has it opened back up again?" he asked seriously, examining her white dress for signs of blood.
"No, the healing springs are working," she answered honestly. She was still soaking her wound morning and night. "The skin is a little tender, but I do believe it had closed, at least."
"Hm," he grunted, moving on to straightening some of her feathers while he was examining her. "Still soak it for a little longer, though. Until it no longer hurts to poke."
Thena sighed. She poked it regularly to test if she was healed yet. "Indeed."
"Makkari is rushing home after last perimeter checks a lot," Gil commented lightly as he idly combed through her feathers with his fingers. "Are they official now?"
"I do believe I could say they are courting," Thena smiled to herself, watching sun stream through the gaps and crags in the top of the mothernest, and even through some of the crystalline ice structures up there. "I look forward to the day he brings her home to me."
It was quite serious to have one's mate introduced to the family formally. Thena and Makkari had spoken of course, could even be considered to be friends. But if Druig brought Makkari to her nest to meet her, that would be more like bringing Makkari to meet his mother.
"You think he will?" Gil asked, plucking out an errant feather.
"It will take time," she sighed, her wings fluttering faintly at the thought, just for Gil to move them more for his angle. "But I do hope so. I would welcome her to the family."
"You wouldn't feel like you have a," Gil paused, and she heard his clothes rustle as he fidgeted, "I dunno--empty nest, or something?"
Thena looked down at her berries, almost eaten completely. "Perhaps I will mourn the days when Druig was a sweet little hatchling, even when Ikaris was not so...Ikaris."
Gil snorted.
"But they are long grown, and I want for them to stretch their wings," she concluded. She moved her leaf cup, offering up her last windberry. "I brought them all the way here for it, all told."
"Thanks," Gil whispered (awfully close to her ear). He reached for the berry, his thumb brushing against hers as he fished it out.
"I have never seen them so much as show an interest in courting, or preening, or," she shrugged, flapping her wings faintly as she felt Gil pull away.
"Well, preening is pretty, y'know," Gil postulated as she turned around to face him again.
"Oh?" she grinned, automatically moving forward to return the favour of his preening of her wings. She nearly gasped as he allowed her to do the same, brandishing his shimmering black wings in all their glory. They made her want to bury her face in the valley between them.
"W-Well," Gil squirmed, and she could just imagine the sweet, somewhat shy expression on his face. "Preening is pretty, uh, personal."
Intimate might be another word for it. Certainly no acquaintances or even casual friends were going around picking at each other's feathers. It simply required a level of trust and understanding of a fae's most vulnerable feature.
Thena was not ignorant to that. She simply acted like she was.
She moved her fingers over Gil's feathers delicately. They were so stunning, each and every one of them. She nudged a few back into place, examining the most misplaced ones. He had navigated his way up here with care.
"Should I not be...?" she asked quietly, even pausing in her actions. She pursed her lips while he was turned away from her, "if you have a potential mate who is going to come and tear my nest apart, I-"
Gil snorted again. He half turned to peek at her around his wing, "please."
She only felt more dissatisfied with that answer. She plucked a downy feather straight out roughly. "I do not see what is humorous about the question."
"Well, guard life doesn't exactly let you go out and court," he shrugged, not seeming all that bothered by it. "I've been the captain of our patrol for a long time, Thena. I've never so much as been approached."
Thena tilted her head beside/behind him. Her hair swayed around her shoulders faintly and the shadows of her horn and a half were cast over Gil's shoulder. She couldn't imagine Gilgamesh not being a prime candidate for a mate for anyone viable.
"Why?"
She looked up and suddenly he had a completely clear view of her. His eyes were sharp and warm, brown like the undertones of his rich black feathers. Her stomach leapt. "Hm?"
"You worried I have someone I'm preening with in another nest?"
Thena felt herself flush, although she did her best to look annoyed with the question. He wasn't in a teasing mood often. "I wouldn't take you for that kind of fae, Gilgamesh."
He laughed fully, having had his fun. He turned again, crossing his arms around himself. His wings shook with his laughter as well. "Well, that's good. And listen, even if I had ever liked someone, I've never been able to approach anyone. I'm used to doing my own preening, really."
She could tell, by the general state of his back-most feathers. Clearly he took good care of them, but every fae had those spots they simply couldn't reach on their own. "Well, good you have me."
"Yeah, it is."
Thena lowered her hands from his wings. She had let herself enjoy their secrecy too much, perhaps. "You need not, of course. If you didn't wish it."
Gil, sensing that she had pulled away from him, turning back to her. He lifted his wings to they could sit close despite the appendages of theirs which naturally demanded distance. "Do you?--wish it?"
Thena sighed, looking at the wonderful border guard she had met a full turn around the sun past, now. She leaned forward carefully, giving him time to refuse if he wanted to. In which case she would take off and leave these seas, perhaps forever.
Gil leaned in as well, their lips meeting gently. It was not necessarily as intimate as preening - especially in secret - but a kiss was still a kiss. He raised his hand to her cheek, tilting her head to kiss her deeper.
Thena sighed, their fangs meeting somewhat as their mouths opened more. He tasted of the morning stew the guards ate before first takeoff. It mixed with the taste of her berries.
Gil pulled away, tucking her hair behind the point of her ear in the morning air currents.
Thena just stared at him, her breath coming in soft sighs. She had never thought of finding a mate for her own.
Gil looked up, seeing a few fae beginning to fly around the dome of the mothernest as a warmup. He sighed, "I have to go."
"Go," she sent him off with a smile, her whole body tingling with warmth. "You are needed."
Gilgamesh let his hand drift off her cheek and to her shoulder as he stood on the branch. He lifted his wings, shielding them from witnesses. "I'll come and check on you tonight."
"Very well," she smiled. She waited the entirety of the day for him to do so eagerly. Her heart sang for him. "I shall wait for you."
"Okay," he whispered, their hands leaving each other the most slowly. He slipped something into her hand, "see you later, then."
Thena waved as he took off, launching straight from the treetops into the air to join the day's first shift of patrol. She could hear his voice, already directing his team and guiding them with the largest and strongest wings of them all.
Her hand tightened around the feather of his he had left her. It was a step past preening, and she would have to make sure Ikaris and Druig didn't find it--this gesture of exclusivity between fae. It wasn't necessarily a courting trinket, bus she felt a certain lightheaded giddiness as she tucked it into the layers of her white dress, over her heart.

‘’ God damn it, woman. ‘’
You knew that would come, but you didn’t expect it to be the second you stepped out of the car. You thought you could have sneaked your way past the garage, past Gil and straight into the clubhouse, hoping EZ would be there, but turns out that all the bombs, the gunshots and even the missing muffler on his truck weren’t enough to damage his hearing. You couldn’t figure out why his ears weren’t ringing when yours were almost all the time now. You can hear him mumbling as he walks your way.
‘’ I told you to stay put. That I would take care of this. ‘’
You can tell he is angry, and as much as you would like to pretend not to hear him, and walk away, you can’t. You close the door, and when you turn around, he is in front of you, tall and shoulders pushed back. He looks good in his uniform, a dark grey jumpsuit that he is wearing with the sleeves tied to his hips. You can tell he has stained his tank top again, despite the dark colour and telling him he needed to stock up on Oxiclean.
‘’ Hi, baby, I missed you, baby? ‘’
He ignores your attempt to smooth this out, arm moving behind your left side to pull the door of the truck open, the metal door missing your hip by an inch. Deciding to borrow his pick-up truck might have been pushing your luck too, but there is nothing he can do about it now. He points to the driver’s seat.
‘’ You’re going to sit your ass back down, and you’re going to go home, baby. ‘’
‘’ I’m not. ‘’
‘’ You- ‘’
He bites his tongue, you can tell, see it roll in his mouth. You like to rile him up, of course you do, especially because he falls for it each time. He better gear up today, because you are determined. You will talk to Alvarez, or maybe EZ, whichever is here, whichever would listen to what you have to say. Gil takes a deep breath as he takes a step forward, chest pressing into yours, silently and slowly trying to push you back into the car. When don’t move, sneakers pressing into the gravel, he talks again.
‘’ You are unbelievable. I’ve got two cars on the lifts, I don’t have time for this- ‘’
‘’ Yo, Gilly, gotta stop bailing on me like that, man. ‘’
Coco walks out of the garage, cigarette between his lips, hat pushed back. His hair has grown longer since the last time you saw him, just past his shoulders. He smiles when he sees you.
‘’ Sup, girl. How you been? ‘’
He doesn’t seem to notice the tension in both your bodies, a position that could easily be mistaken for some welcoming hug. A weird one, really, one where you are pushing back against a human wall, one where Gil could force you inside if he decided to do it. His knuckles are white from gripping the door, he knows he can’t just shoo you away anymore, that the boys will want to talk to you, ask you how you’ve been doing, if they fixed the leaking sink alright.
‘’ Been good, Coco, thank you. How bout you? ‘’
‘’ Same ol’ shit, mama. Are you here only for the big man or you came for us losers too? ‘’
You snort at that, using the momentum to slither past Gil, letting him close the door in defeat behind you. You hear him grunt something in return, but you don’t give him the attention of turning around. Coco crush the rest of his cigarette under his foot, he is smiling again, clearly happy with the joke he just made.
‘’ I came for Ava, but Gil told me she left this morning, so I bullied the big man into buying me a beer before his lunch break instead. ‘’
A straight-up lie, and Gil has to know you are lying, you are convinced it is written on your forehead. Big letters, bold and coloured. Coco doesn’t seem to notice it, though, doesn’t even move over the fact that Ava wasn’t even here this morning, as he lights another cigarette. You like Coco, you find him funny, smart, kind, and you realize you hate lying to him. It is probably because he took care of the body that night, telling you that he would take care of it. Maybe you feel guilty that it has come to light, guilty about how he might feel about it when the truth comes out.
‘’ Go spend his money, girl. He has to be back in an hour though. ‘’
‘’ Duly noted, chief. ‘’
He smiles at that, hand clasping on your shoulder in goodbye before walking back to the garage. You can feel Gil’s presence behind you, all warmth and anger. You don’t like giving him the cold shoulder, but you know you have to rip the bandage off, figure this whole thing out and find a solution before it is too late. You still wish it could be wrong, that Marco’s information is wrong, that they did find a body, just not that body. What a weird fucking day already. You and Jacob's endless hunt for his lost homework right before having to leave for school, coffee spilling on your jeans on the way to the club, using the silent treatment on your man and confessing to a murder in front of illegal bikers.
You look at him over your shoulder only to find out he is already looking down at you. Don’t do it, it means, but you know you have to.
‘’ I’m gonna go in there, ‘’ you begin, ‘’ and I’m going to sit at the table and tell Alvarez everything. I want you to do it with me. ‘’
His gaze breaks away from yours, meeting a point far away in the distance. You know you are pushing him into something he wanted to wait for, but you can’t spend another sleepless night over this. Not when you woke up every hour or so, walking to the door to make sure it is locked, hand reaching in your nightstand to feel the cool metal of the gun that is tucked in there.
He motions for you to walk, chin pointing to the door, towards the clubhouse. You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding, relieved.
‘’ You got my back on this? ‘’ you ask.
‘’ Always. ‘’
The clubhouse still smells of old wood and liquor, just like you remember it. You have been here before, seated at the bar with Gil, tagging along to celebrate whoever’s birthday or whatever event needed tequila shots and cigars. It always felt cozy, in your opinion, mostly because it belonged to them, every piece of it, every memorabilia and every bullet hole that splintered the walls. You understand why Gil loves this place every time you push the doors, why it reminds him of the army, the nostalgia of it.
You are greeted as soon as you come in, hello’s from behind the bar, the pool table. You had felt confident on the way here, fingers gripped tightly on the wheel, telling Gil you would get in there with or without him, but whatever is twisting your insides now feels like nervousness, impatient to get this over with. You feel Gil’s hand on your back, showing you forward, past the doorstep. His fingers are warm on your back, heavy, brushing the skin peaking between your shorts and your shirt.
‘’ Do you think it would be better if you took the lead from here? ‘’ you ask him.
You know it would make him feel good to be in control, to be able to take the reigns on this one. He squeezes the side of your hip in response, his warmth leaving as soon as it arrived as he moves around you and towards the hallway to your right, the one you know leads to Templo, disappearing from your sight. You usually wouldn’t ask for help, you would deal with it on your own, swallow the anxiety, the nerves and jump in, but asking for help is something you have done more than usual the past few months. You always wait for it to come back and bite you, reminding you of why you stopped doing it in the first place, but it hasn’t, not yet.
‘’ Can I get you anything to drink, sweetheart? ‘’
Cielo catches your eyes behind the bar, torso leaning over the counter, wiping away any spilled liquid. You smile, and you hope she doesn’t notice that it is forced, that your fists are closed so tight you think your nails might break the skin.
‘’ I’m all good, thanks. Just waiting for Gilly. ‘’
Gilly. It still feels weird to say it like they do. It has always been Gil, ranger, or any insults that fitted the need at the time. He never took any of it personally, of course, but he was always quick to answer something witty in response. Another minute passes, and he is back in front of you just as fast as he had left, one hand sliding in yours, prying open your tensed fingers.
‘’ Come with me. ‘’
And you do, following him into the hallway, posters and license plates decorating the walls. The air is heavy, and the more your steps bring you toward the doorway, the more you can feel your heart in your throat. Your hand hasn’t left Gil’s, fingers wrapped so hard around his tattooed ones he might think you are scared he would let go. Deep breath in, deep breath out. You let him pull you further in, almost bumping into his back when he stops in front of a woven basket, reaching into his back pocket to drop his phone into it.
‘’ You got your cell? ‘’
You nod, rapidly reaching into your pocket to place your phone next to his.
‘’ Good, ‘’ he swallows, ‘’ You got your gun? ‘’
‘’ I don’t? Look, Gil, if I’m making anyone uncomfortable, I can just… ‘’
You can just what? Go home? Actually get your gun and wait for the wave to come crashing? You watch him adjust the sunglasses on top of his head.
‘’ This is just protocol, you’re good, Alvarez said he would listen to what we had to say. I told him that Marco came by the house. He had already heard something about a missing brother. ‘’
Just as he finishes, he takes a step closer to you, coming back into your personal space. You didn’t expect him to kiss you, warm lips against yours, with his hand under your chin. It makes your body shiver despite the heat, toes curling and craving for more. When he pulls away, he is smiling. You are not sure why, looking at the circumstances, but God, God, maybe you do love him for real, maybe it isn’t in your head or it is routine from being around too long, maybe-
‘’ Hey. Everything is going to be fine, take a deep breath. ‘’
And you do, because he tells you to, because his hand is warm behind your ear. You nod, I’m good, you want to tell him, let’s do this. You know he reads you like an open book, hand squeezing the back of your neck in encouragement before he turns to face the stained glass door.
The air seems thicker inside the Templo, barely any light, dark leather chairs, and cigarette smoke filling the air. Alvarez sits at the end of the table, watching as Gil sends you toward one side of the table while he goes for the other. You take a seat in front of your man, El Padrino on your right. You had met Marcus two times before, the first time when you had met everyone else for Angel’s birthday at the clubhouse, the other after you had stumbled upon his wife in the grocery store, a sweet woman was quick to invite Gil and you for a barbecue at their house.
The third time is today, just as you are about to tell him the truth, what you have been bottling up for weeks now, the blood that still stains your nails. Nothing Marcus hasn’t done before, you can easily guess. It feels weird the more you think about it, how your lives are similar in many ways, but different in so many others. It is Gil that breaks the silence, forearms leaning on the table. His eyes meet yours for a brief second. Behave.
‘’ Thank you, Padrino, for meeting with us. ‘’
Marcus acknowledges him with a grunt, a brief nod. If Gil notices the astonishment that paints your face he doesn’t let it show. Whatever boot-licking, democratic bullshit this is, you are already over it, but you let him speak, mostly because you told him you would. It is rarely his thing to lay low, lick boots and follow the rules, maybe the two of you have just gotten too old for it. But Alvarez doesn’t answer him, he turns to you instead, Gil discarded as quickly as he had started.
‘’ So, this has to do with the missing brother they found in the state park? ‘’
‘’ Maybe? I mean- I don’t know if that’s where they buried him. ‘’
‘’ They? ‘’
Marcus is intimidating, unreadable, pulling on his smoke every once in a while. He seems unbothered, and that makes you nervous. You don’t know how much you should tell him or how much Gil planned to tell him. You wouldn’t want to put any of them under fire of any kind, especially when they did all of this out of the kindness of their heart. You could have been anyone that night, but they helped anyway. Your eyes flicker to Gil, his hands are crossed in front of him and he is looking at you, fingers twitching for a smoke. You wish you could tell him to have one, that you'll allow it this time, that he doesn’t have to hide them in the inside pocket of his uniform. He motions to you to keep going as he eventually pulls one out.
‘’ Coco and Creeper. I needed the help and Gil called them. ‘’
Marcus hums, crushing the end of his cigar against the ashtray. ‘’ And help with what? ‘’
He is pulling it out of you, question by question. This feels like an interrogation, and in a way it is, nothing you haven’t done before, nothing you haven’t gone through before. It tingles inside of you, the adrenaline that pumps in your veins just at the mere thought of it. You try to remind yourself that this is a safe place, that you are home, but still, your arms feel heavy, neck muscles tensing. You try to swallow it down, readjusting in your chair. If Marcus wants the truth, the whole story, you’ll give it to him.
‘’ A dead body, the one I murdered. ‘’
You can see the twitch in his eyebrows, the surprise hidden deep behind his brown eyes. He didn’t expect you to tell that fast you bet, but that means he has been underestimating you so far.
‘’ I was doing mercs jobs in Fresno for a few months, that’s where I met him- ‘’
‘’ What the fuck? ‘’
The cold that drips from his words is like an ice bucket in your face. You had almost forgotten that Gil was there, silently watching from his side of the table. As you look at him, you can see the anger in his eyes, the shock moving across his face. Wait.
‘’ I thought you knew? I left Santo Padre for a job, I told Rea about it. ‘’
‘’ And you thought she would tell me? Snitch on you while you were back on this bullshit? You told me you would stop. ‘’
You don’t have an answer to give him, because you did tell him you would try, but that was a year ago, when life had started to feel good again, until it wasn’t, until you felt that need to run again. They are using you, he used to say, they don’t fucking care if you come back alive. He was right, but what he didn’t understand was that you didn’t care either if you did or not. Bills needed to be paid, dark thoughts and memories more easily buried under the clicking sound of ammunition and the smell of gunpowder. Gil is leaning across the table, chair pulled back a few inches, and if you didn’t know him, you would think he was ready to jump, hands on throat.
You don’t have an answer to give him, but you still open your mouth, hoping to find something to say. Marcus cuts you before you can.
‘’ And then what? ‘’
He is looking at Gil, and you figure he is telling him to back off, to calm down. Surprisingly he does, pressing back into his chair, huffing. You close your fists under the table, hoping the pain will bring you back into the room with them.
‘’  Then he was an abusive bitch, and he tried to kill me, so I did him first. ‘’
You can still hear the thumping in your ears, feel the split skin of your knuckles as you continue.
‘’ I didn’t know he was SAMCRO. I’m here so we can find a solution. ‘’
You finally meet Gil’s eyes across the table. He feels so far away, miles and miles when he is only at arm's length if you reached far enough. You crave his touch, you realize, you want him to hold you like he does at night, tucked in his chest, nose pressed against his shirt. It would smell like him, your favourite detergent, that Irish soap he uses in the shower.
‘’ I know what this would mean for the club if they think it’s your guys who did it. I don’t want this to happen. ‘’
You feel it in the back of your head, those thoughts that make you think that this is wrong, this is what happens when you stay for too long, when you stop and start thinking too much. The crescent nail-shaped wounds in your palms hurt. You are not sure how you knock out of it, but you are back, and Gil still sits in front of you, deep brown eyes observing you. You can tell he noticed it, how far away you were, barely a second. Alvarez turns to him.
‘’ I have already talked to Tig. The Fresno charter does think we’ve done it, and Marco has confirmed that they did find some evidence that points to us. ‘’ I don’t want to run again, please don’t make me do it again.  ‘’ I’ve been told his brother doesn’t seem that bothered, but he does want reparation. ‘’
‘’ Whatever he wants, but I’m keeping my fingers. ‘’
That makes him crack a smile, barely pulling at the side of his lips. He can laugh if he wants, but you are dead serious. You have met Chucky before, and even though he is a nice man, got a good job, that is not a sacrifice you are willing to do.
‘’ Cash seemed fine with him, if it’s fine with you. ‘’
‘’ How much? ‘’ Gil is quick to ask.
‘’ Hundred thousand. ‘’
‘’ That’s insane. She was fighting back, not- ‘’
El Padrino raises his hand, asking for silence he is rapidly met with. What surprises you is when Alvarez asks him to leave, even more so when Gilly actually does it, reluctantly, of course, but nonetheless. You can’t stay in this room if he isn’t, because you know you can’t deal with Marcus alone. You are panicking just at the idea of it, like a dog being left behind. The room feels smaller suddenly, and just as your knees lock, ready to stand up and walk away with Gil, Marcus stops you.
‘’ No. ‘’ Is all he says, ‘’ You’re staying. ‘’
Both of you watch as your man crushes his cigarette against the ashtray, giving you a brave nod before closing the door behind him. When Marcus’s attention is back on you, you can tell he is asking if you can do it, if you have enough. Gil was right on this one, it is insane, no one carries that much money in cash, not you. Your teeth are piercing your bottom lips, maybe you could spare a finger or two, you think, maybe you could do that.
‘’ I can get you 15 thousand in a few days. Not more than twenty if you give me a week. ‘’
The silence is deafening, you can hear the buzzing from the overhead lights. You are ready to pay your debt if that is what SAMCRO expects of you, any way they see fit, you stopped trying to change people’s minds a long time ago. There's no point in lying to Alvarez, even if you try, a hundred thousand dollars is just too much.
‘’ So you have a military background? ‘’
You frown. You don’t understand what this has to do with all of this.
‘’ Yes. Gil and I were in the same unit for years. ‘’
Friendship, lovers, everything in between, rangers in death and life. He takes a cigarette out of his pack, offering you one. You think about accepting it, only for a second, long enough that he can see the hesitation in your eyes before you decline.
‘’ We could use someone with your skills. ‘’ he begins, ‘’ Sharp, quick. ‘’
The smoke dries your eyes when he exhales. You know what he is offering, a type of work you have done before, something you’re good at, something that Gil would have said no to if he had stayed. Alvarez is offering you a chance to say yes, to make your own decision.
‘’ I could loan you the eighty-five thousand you need, drop it all off to SAMCRO, but you’d be in our debt. ‘’
I need to ask Gil, I need to know if this is fair, if this is legit, I need-
‘’ Can I sleep on it? ‘’
‘’ As long as you want, until they’re tired of waiting. ‘’
You don’t remember when or how you left the room, if Alvarez even told you you could leave, but before you know it you are passing the stained glass door, phone back in hand. Gil is not at the bar when you turn the corner, and you hate that it crosses your mind for a second that he left you, took his shit and drove away in anger. You know it’s not true, that you are thinking too much again. Too much thinking, too much-
You push the door open, fresh air in your lungs, the sun prickling your eyes. You want to cry, to fall on your knees and sob all of it away. All of the stress, the images that pass behind your eyes every time you close them, the ringing in your ears.
I want to go home. It’s the first thing you tell him when you reach the truck, where he is leaning against the hood, sunglasses covering his eyes. You can see the panic on his face, the way your own has crashed on him like waves. I want to go home, please, I can’t-
‘’ Hey, hey, it’s all good, I’ll drive you home, baby.  ‘’
Breathe, you can’t breathe. You only seem to be able to when he eventually brings you to the passenger side, when you feel the leather on your thighs, when the drilling noise coming from the garage finally stops as he closes the door.
Can I sleep on it?
You told Alvarez that you would do it, let them use those skills of yours as they saw fit, you do remember that now. Eighty-five thousand dollars in exchange for your life. Is it really how much you are worth?
As long as you want, until they’re tired of waiting.
You don’t feel like telling Gil, admitting to him that you took what looks like the easy way out. No out in glory and blood, guns blazing. It feels like you are out of high school all over again, passing in front of that army booth. Good pay, insurance, good pension, holding that blue disposable pen as you sign your life away for the next six years. We could use someone like you, with your knowledge. Same old shit, new leadership.
‘’ Would you think I fucked up, ‘’ you whisper as he buckles his seatbelt, ‘’ If I told you I made a deal with Alvarez? ‘’
You can see him bite his tongue, the clench in his jaw at your words. He knows to eat his words and think about it before he answers, and you are grateful for it. You couldn’t take it if he had said the first thing that came to his mind. You can’t stop your leg from shaking, up and down, up and-
‘’ Of course not. ‘’ He says, gently pressing his hand on your thigh.
You immediately feel better when he turns the corner and drives out of the yard, his palm caressing your skin in an effort to show comfort, understanding. Of course not, he says again and again, like it would fix the panic in your chest. You hope he means it, that with all his heart he thinks that it’s true.
Of course not, baby.

Imagine being a young teenager in this case an orphan Christian girl full of dreams who’s exiting from what’s essentially a cult who’s raised to be slaughter. You get sent to a new house excited for the future just to end up tortured, abused, raped, and killed in a mansion by six vampires…. No cap let’s make these bad boys, S U F F E R 💖
Ahhh That's exactly the vision I've had for a full fanfic. It works for most of, maybe not all of, the boys either separately or all at once. Maybe a series that's occuring in overlapping timelines but for writing sake is in different parts.
But isn't that exactly what gets the most angst and depth and all the good stuff? You were an orphan from the same place as the Mukamis, you've been through hell and wether or not you're still buying the cult's nonsense is very open to interpretation. Of course anything is better then that hell hole right? Well, yes but also no.
So one route that I play with, really only for the Sakamakis, is they did like you and were like how they are in the games except their mothers are still alive. Obviously not happy at the human fondness they stage something to make it look like, or actually force, you to start sleeping with someone. The boys are too busy being hurt and either they kill you or the mother's play the "I will help" and have you killed. Except Karl has noticed your utility. So one by one the girl who has that effect on one of his sons is revived. You're not a vampire though.
~ With Shu's I imagine Beatrix would have fun with having you hunted down in the woods and tore limb from limb, so you revived leads to you have new metal limbs much more useful for your job.
~Reiji would of course go poison, so your skin may be preserved but your veins are black, the blood vessels in your eyes unable to hold in the black poison burst and so your eyes are coals. Your skin is gray. You have some modifications like your "older sister" but they're mostly just for skeletal additions to make sure everything is getting signals fast.
~Ayato, you were burnt, the inspiration for Cordelia's fate. Yours burns leading to artificial fingers to ensure sensation while you work. As well as a voice modulator from your vocal cords being fried beyond repair.
~Laito, you were drowned. He held you under bringing you up demanding you confess to your sin. You refused to lie and professed you innocence. Except you got held down too long. Minor strengthening to the lungs as well as some new gils for your new life.
~Kanato, it's clear you became a doll. Stitch marks holding you together and a lot of voltage keeping you a hard hitter.
~Subaru, he had taken time to calm himself down. He knew you probably weren't with anyone, but the rumours still upset him. But Christa is hardly stable so you were pushed off the castle balcony only to be impaled on an iron fence spike. Your midriff is rebuilt and legs get similar skeletal adjustments to your sister made by Reiji.
So that's the Sakamakis and to quickly shelf them we turn to the Mukamis. You were killed fast here I feel them having to address you come from the orphanage too would be to easy a solution. So you did fast.
~Ruki it's talking back or escaping. It is very clear you know what your doing in escaping but how he doesn't know. Needless to say you are held by your ankle to taunt you. When you refuse to give up your sister's location you are dropped. Your entire spine was rebuilt, with wings added at your request.
~Yuma, during the escape from the Mukamis you are found expertly hiding in some tree roots. You're left impaled for your sisterly loyalty. Karl can't seem to find you and it takes your sister killed by Ruki to locate you. By then the roots have grown into you. It saves Karl the metal, you are sustained by the tree roots weaving in and out of your body.
~Kou blinded you, you kept throwing rocks at him in anger after being separated while scrambling from spot to spot. When he does catch you he takes the eye you held open as you lined up a shot leaving the other to watch as he ties you to a tree to be left for the wolves. You are rescued alive but amaciated and near delirious from blood loss. A new eye and the gift of eternal life without fangs are your prize.
~Azusa probably tried to show you how fun his home is. By showing you his knives...too much. You're covered in stitches similar to Kanato's doll brought back. You now know exactly which stabs hurt most.
So these 10 plus maybe Carla and Shins' main murder, are brought under Karl's wing at the castle. Maybe you don't even know they're related. You get more advanced tech as you all age, you are Karl's daughters he always wanted but never had and amazing assassin's and political powerhouses. All kept from his son's due to their limited involvement in his life.
Until one day it's impossible to keep you all separated. Maybe they don't recognise you, it's been so long. Maybe they do immediately or it's revealed later on. But they learn quickly what they gave up.
~Shu, you are a natural big sister and a good leader. Having become somewhat jaded but still caring towards the innocent you have no time for Shu. Being sent as his temporary guard sees him so baffled and upset that you aren't angry or trying to hurt him. Hearing only "oh please I'm well above that by this stage," only pisses him off more. You've also grown your body tight uniform showing exactly what his missed out on, especially after your innocence is proven.
~Reiji, this bitch wouldn't ever look into the truth after your death. So you're just as guilty as when he killed you to him, only to then be read to filth as you use what he says of his own mother against him to show how he just blindly followed like a sheep. You are elegant whenever he sees you, refined and able to have men kneel from threats so we'll concealed you'd almost think you were best of friends with those you manipulate. Then he sees you with your sister's, having the bond he may wish for deep down. But you're too above him now to even look his way.
~The triplets see a bond healthier than their own in your trio. Seeing you complement each others skills and move so cohesively. Realising how chosing their mother over you left them without what they would now probably describe as a dream come true to them. But all the smiles, laughs, and performance is dropped the minute they are left alone with you and all you give are glares or simple ignoring.
~Subaru spends the first few weeks trying to work up the nerve to apologise. When he does you only say you forgave him years ago but without therapy you would not be getting burnt again. He's hurt and now has to navigate a system he's never had any experience with alone if his brothers aren't so desperate to attone for you.
~Ruki, you are close with Reiji's kill. You two and Carla's playing an integral roll as three of the 4 underhands of your leader, providing different areas of expertise. Your's lies in grouping and typing, the emotional strategy, in large part. You refuse to even look at him, and when you do those wings seem to get sharper and sharper with each second you glare.
~Yuma you are also one of the underhands. Your powerhouse of a form due to the natural improvements and gift lead to a terrifying enemy. Yuma sees a girl so fucking tough, and you eyes never changed. You were this spitfire back then and he just ignores it and tossed you. Plus your part plant that's his dream, and he's fucked up everything.
~Kou, head sniper, having been determined to have equally strong eyes after struggling when the cameras used to make your current prosthetic did not exist. You are fucking cold, kind to so many until they show themselves to be two faces of cruel. Kou's never had a girl not fawn over him and he hates it.
~Azusa, you are equal parts helpful medic and terrifying assassin. Knowing extensive knowledge on where you bleed most, where you bleed fastest, quietest, cleanest etc. Except you get tense the minute he's in a room.

heres my definitive ranking
10: alisaie. i adore her, shes my favorite scion, but through that love i am able to recognize that she is at the bottom of this list. she is absolutely the most likely to say fuck, bar none. shes a teen girl who grew up in a stuffy intellectual society with an aristocratic family, i know in my heart that her first order of business once she arrived in eorzea was to learn as many curse words as possible and immediately integrate them into her vocabulary. she was probably picking them up from the sailors on the ship, and the more alphinaud hated a word the more she would use it. could she find a good time to say fuck? probably, but thats mostly just because she is always saying fuck. even if it was well timed it wouldnt be funny because i expect this from her. 9: estinien. hes a grown ass man and a soldier. we all know he says fuck. 8: y'shtola. would say fuck and not even care. 7: thancred. another grown ass man, and a former rogue to boot. we expect him to say fuck. it could be funny if he said it in front of ryne though. 6: krile. shes not as innocent as people like to make her out to be, but shes also too mature to say fuck on a regular basis. probably uses appropriate swears when shes doing bureaucratic stuff for the students. shuffling through a pile of papers and such. 5: lyse. definitely says fuck, but is too much of an airhead to realize when its a bad time to say fuck. also too nice to not feel bad if she said it at the wrong time. 4: g'raha. would say fuck under duress and then apologize profusely for it. 3: tataru. we all expect her to say fuck, the funny part would be the other scions reacting to it. 2: urianger. another grown ass man fully capable of saying fuck, but it would be funny based purely on being juxtaposed with the way he normally talks. if the facade slipped for just one moment and he dropped a fuck? id be on the floor. 1: alphinaud. the politest boy. our perfect little lordling does not sully his tongue with such words. is scandalized every time one of the other scions says fuck and gets taunted for it mercilessly. probably tried to put a swear jar in the rising stones until one time alisaie just dumped a load of gil in it before going off about something. if he said fuck it would be earth shattering. not only would it indicate the severity of the situation, but it would also provide fodder for future jokes. he would feel terrible immediately and estinien would never let him live it down. alisaies entire life would be turned upside down. everyone would laugh about it for years afterward. i would go into a coma from laughing too hard.

Do you ever stop and think about the fact that the only time Suho and Sieun have won their fights post-meeting each other was when they were fighting together? Going insane again ..
When Sieun had been ganged up by Seokdae’s group because of Yongbin, he had won through the divine intervention of Suho (and Bumseok too, but only a little). When Sieun cornered Gil-su in the abandoned amusement park, he had won, again, through Suho’s divine intervention. I like how the second fight had shown just how in sync the two are together, with the finishing blow being a coordinated attack they orchestrated just by following each other’s movement.
(Not to mention the fact that Sieun knew, in the back of his mind, that Suho would follow him. (“You came.”) Like the single acknowledgement that their bond had grown closer than it was before)
And then came the fights that had happened after. It’s safe to assume that both Suho and Sieun have never been into many fights before the entire events unfolding through the catalyst that is Yongbin. And now that they are close, fighting hell and back, realizing slowly just how much they mean to each other, then came their unconcious decision not to get the other involved in those fights anymore. Protection. Guardian angel.
Sieun fought Suho’s battle for him, even though he knows Suho is more than capable of defending himself, and that maybe if they had gone there together they could’ve rescued Youngyi without scoring another trip to the hospital — but alas. Sieun’s decision is born out of maybe personal guilt (since he tends to think that everything that has happened to Suho so far was his fault, because he was the one attracting the bullies in the first place) and the sense of not wanting Suho to get hurt anymore. He believes that this is his burden to carry. So he goes and fights alone, with the extra mile of making sure to remove a trace of the messages just so Suho wouldn’t find out and follow him because Sieun knows, really knows, that Suho would. Sieun would rather it be him that hurts and not Suho (maybe seeing him in the hospital after the Gil-su arc while Sieun was walking free was another influence for this decision).
And then Sieun loses.
And then Suho finds out. Then it’s another cycle of fighting a battle alone. Fueled by barely contained rage (how dare they lay a finger on Sieun), and Suho’s strong sense of avengance (mentioned in a previous post I made). Maybe if they had communicated, maybe if Sieun wasn’t so intent on keeping the truth from Suho — because he knows what it would mean to Suho, to find out that Sieun was beaten to the point of getting hospitalized, knows that Suho would give whoever had done this to him absolute hell. Because Sieun would’ve done the same (and he did). And the biggest maybe of all: maybe if they’d fought that battle together.
Suho and Sieun were destroyed not only by the forces of the likes of Bumseok and Yongbin etc, but also for how much they care about each other. If they were willing to bruise and bleed together like they did in the amusement park, instead of wanting to shoulder the other’s wounds (‘better me than you’), then maybe things really would’ve been different.

Main 4 - S/O gets knocked up
CW: Pregnancy
Reader is AFAB but this is gender neutral.
Hank -It came as a surprise to him, he wasn’t even aware he was able to produce a child given his history of being torn apart and stitched back together, but sure as hell his partner gave him a positive test.
-He demands 2BD takes you off active roster immediately, he doesn’t give two shits what the others think, he is going to keep his mate and baby as safe as possible.
-Hank goes through hell and high water to get anything you so much as hint at needing, he’ll make runs to Gil’s, steal candy and snacks from vendors, hunt down the best and softest blankets and pillows to cover you with.
-This man begins hoarding baby things too, its mostly grey clothing and blankets, its rare to see any form of colour. It’s not like you had a way to find the gender anyway, so grey worked. He’s even got a steadily growing pile of soft toys and teddies.
-“Hank, the baby is kicking.” He drops whatever he is doing and runs over, hands eager to feel the signs of life from his growing bundle, his hands break away to shake violently with excitement before softly placing them back on his lover’s stomach.
-He gets far more clingy after that, he always wants you in his sight, encased protectively in his arms, or fingers entangled if he can’t embrace you. Spooning you tightly while you sleep in his arms.
-He fights far harder than before, eager to make the world safer for his love and his baby, a sense of pride different to the usual rush fills him with each successful kill.
-When the time comes for this baby to be born he completely shuts down, he is at an utter loss and can’t fathom a way to help. Doc has never delivered a baby, but then again Doc hadn’t done a lot of things that he’d done for his team before. Hearing his partner’s strained screams of pain hurts his heart, but all he can do is stand at the bedside with their hand in his.
-Though hours of pain, she arrives, a tiny and screaming bundle and Hank nearly passes out from the rush of emotions. Doc hands off the newborn to Hank, bundled in a towel, telling him to clear off the baby while he makes sure Hank’s partner is stable.
-He gently bushes the blood and mucous and stares down at this stranger in his arms. He has to take his goggles off since they’re filling with tears. Half of him, half of his partner… All perfect.
Sanmos (These two are a package deal, you get one, you get both)
-It was pretty obvious who was the father, given that Deimos is trans, not that it matters, both are equally this little one’s dad. Both men exploded with excitement when they saw the test in your hands.
-Both go into dad mode instantly, Deimos practically begs Doc to help him cut down on his cigarette dependency, and when he does need one, he’ll steer clear of you. Sanford is pretty handy, the ideal husband type, he begins building a crib for his little one, and the others help.
-Dei snuggles you as much as he can, and Sanford takes both of you into his arms, eager to protect this tiny slice of heaven lady luck blessed him with. Two amazingly, wonderful, beautiful partners and a bun in the oven. Neither man knows what kind of karma they cashed in to get this.
-Doc manages to get an ultrasound, and both men keep a small picture on them, who’d have believed a tiny ball of cells would make two grown ass mercenaries turn into soft piles of goo.
-Ford is fantastic at fixing up food cravings, even if he finds whatever you desire to be disgusting, even if its the dead of night and you really want this hard to make dish, he’ll get up and fight through it, just for you.
-Dei takes up an interest in sewing, baby clothes are definitely a hard find, so he opts for making them instead. He also gives making stuffed toys a go, but he can’t get it right, and as sweet as they are, he is absolutely not giving those abominations to his youngling.
-Once this little one is ready to come into the world, Deimos takes post next to his partner, allowing them to grab his hand, squeezing it during contractions and biting his lip to mask the pain of each strong grip. Sanford has the second most medical knowledge and opts to help Doc at the other end of the table.
-Eventually a healthy boy comes screaming into the world, and Sanford melts as he takes his newborn into his arms, taking him aside to clean him while Doc aids his partner.
-Deimos sings their praise, wiping their sweaty forehead and brushing their hair out of their eyes. “A boy, eh, he’s gonna be big and strong, like his parents,”
-You’re handed your tiny baby and Sanford bursts into tears when the little man sticks his lip out like he does.
2BDamned
-This was pre-planned of course, both he and his partner agreed on purposely going unprotected in hopes of this happening.
-“You should take another one, just to be sure.” His partner stared at the five tests now on the table and laughed softly. “Isn’t this overkill? Three brands, five test.” “I.. I just can’t believe its happening.”
-His excitement is only matched by his apprehension, he’d long since written off the idea of having a child, he’d never been close enough to anyone, never found himself in pure and unwavering love. And then you came into his life.
-He sends his boys out on missions to find anything possibly baby related, slowly but surely your shared room becomes more and more baby themed, the base becomes baby proofed with gates. Doc get snippy if his team leave weapons around, c'mon lads, the unborn can totally hurt themselves on them.
-Doc gets very fussy over you, it feels like every other day he’s wanting you in his office for a check up, its sweet but gets somewhat annoying. But he just wants constant reassurance both his beloved are in perfect health.
-He takes more breaks from his work to just relax with you, letting out raspy and broken purrs as he cups your stomach. Sometimes you fall asleep first, sometimes he does, sometimes you just lay together and talk.
-When you’re ready to pop, he needs Sanford’s help, his nerves becoming shot at he realises ‘Oh god this is happening, this is happening right now, I am not ready for this,’ But that’s how it is, you’ll never truly be ready for anything new life brings.
-Doc shakes as he aids his child into the world, tiny lungs screeching out their arrival, he swallows the lump in his throat, only managing a soft, “G-girl,” as he stares at her, clearing her face off with a towel before handing her to Sanford so he can check his partner is okay.
-But things are not okay, and he panics instantly. “There’s a second one-” He gasps, going back into midwife mode, helping bring his second little child into the world. “Also a girl, my god,” He can’t believe it, despite witnessing it all. For so many years he’d come to terms with never having one child, and now here he stood with two.
-After making sure you’re stable, he embraces his tiny family and cries, relief flooding his system.

Finished Rise of the Pink Ladies...
Random Thoughts in Yays and Boos and Wuts and Mehs
Yay: Hazel’s a Pink Lady. Great way to end the season. Great pay off.
Boo: That whole wedding story line. It was unnecessary and dumb.
Wut?: Jonathan Nieves leaving and being photoshopped into scenes.
Yay: Setup for a second season with the other schools and Zuko’s big brother (I guess?). But please, please, please stop with Jane and her love life - I cannot find the will to care.
Boo/Yay/I Can’t Decide: Nancy’s treatment of Potato was not cool. Female empowerment isn’t disregarding your partner’s feelings and doing what only you want because I am woman hear me roar. That’s what gets me about some feminist media - the whole my way or the highway of it all. Compromise isn’t a dirty word - it’s called not being a jerkface and being a part of a healthy relationship (as long as it’s not one partner doing all the compromising). I know Nancy marches to the beat of her own drum and Potato clearly appreciates that but she was putting SO many stipulations on their relationship and really being inconsiderate of him a lot. I’m very happy about her owning up to that but I didn’t really like how she was going to end things with him at the carnival without discussing how they might make it work. She came off as very selfish in her behavior and inconsiderate of his feelings. In the end, they’re still my favorite couple and I’m glad they worked things out but I hope we get to see her play a more emotionally supportive role to him in the future like she did with Cynthia.
Yay (Kind Of): When I first saw the play scene from Hazel’s POV with Buddy dipping out, I thought he was jealous of her getting the limelight. But then we got episode 7 from the boys’ POV and you saw that Buddy was just reeling from his daddy drama. I was glad he wasn’t being petty. He was just hurt.
Meh: Wally and Hazel are kind of cute, but I’m a not so secret shipper of her and Buddy. I don’t like love triangles (which this show seems to be a fan of) so I hope if we get a second season that this issue gets resolved fast.
Meh: Gil is a cutie, but I am not feeling any of the girls he’s been paired with thus far. I don’t really like him and Olivia together.
Wut?: Who does Dot like? They teased it but never told us.
Boo: Where’s the sizzle? Please get Shonda Rhimes to this show stat to create some chemistry between these people. For so many romantic relationships, none of them bring the heat. Everyone’s different, but for me, for a show to be fully satisfying, I have to have a couple that I ship. That I can’t wait to see kiss and see those moments of being in love. It’s why I adored Queen Charlotte and Jackson/April on Grey’s or Andy/April on Parks and Rec.
Boo: This show reminds me a little bit of Girls in the fact that the male characters are more intriguing than the women. Ray and Adam were more interesting/likable than the main characters. I feel like it’s similar for this show. Potato and Shy Guy in particular I want to know more about. I love the women as a whole group and their times together, but individually...I’m getting less and less interested especially with Jane and  Olivia who’ve kind of become one note. Nancy (and Cynthia to an extent), I feel like is the only character who’s really grown. I feel like she embodies adolescence the best in regards to not knowing what you want but slowly figuring things out and maturing. I’ve really enjoyed her journey (just be sweeter to Potato, please and thank you).
Wut?: So is this show getting a second season or not? 10/10 would watch.

The slums can be so devastating sometimes, but it's better than what December came from. Even now, hungry and tired, she'd rather be here, away from him. She perks up a bit when she sees a SOLDIER passing through - maybe on his way to Wallmarket? - and reminds herself that they usually have some sort of supplies on them, even something small.
"Excuse me," she says, taking a few quick steps on bare feet to catch up to him. "I'm sorry, but...do you have anything to eat? It's alright if you don't." She smiles gently, taking half a step back already, waiting for him to say no.
(December, my baby girl. Her bg is tw incarnate, but between escaping an abusive ex and finding her way in the slums, she lives on the streets for a while.)
He truly was on his way to Wallmarket - wa sit that obvious? Well, Glenn was none the wiser, already busy in his head trying to think of what he'd do there today. He needed to take his chances with some of the games. His Gil was getting drained again and there still was a week till the next payday!
Though the sudden small voice tore him out of his gambling-phantasies and he looked to the woman, who had asked him so timid. Man, she looked rough. Not even shoes on her. And she needed something. Food. Of course.
Glenn wasn't unaware of the daily battle of the slums, he'd grown up here after all. Now that he was a SOLDIER at least hunger wasn't a problem anymore. Others were less fortunate, though.
The surprised look on his face quickly exchanged for a grin as he rubbed the back of his neck.
Tumblr media
"Oh, uh... sorry, I don't have anything on me - but hey, I was just about to go buy a bite. Wanna join? I planned for some of the stew at Yama's! My treat.", he replied simply, as if there wasn't even any other thought crossing his mind - and he had no qualms to invite her at all. They all were down on rough times here, so it was good to help when you could. Like any hero should!

Kingmaker
@finweanladiesweek, Day 2: Findis and Írimë Lalwen
[polished version on AO3!]
Lalwendë had never been more proud of her little brother than on the edge of the Ice, watching him stand his ground against Fëanáro’s fire and Nolofinwë’s…not his best arguments, really. They were all too far into the dark, into blood and madness, for anything like sense or reason.
All but Arafinwë, who’d always been the only one of them who could step back and really consider common sense before he acted. Lalwendë certainly couldn’t—her only merit was knowing her lack (as opposed to her older siblings). Lalwendë was, quite frankly, going to kill Moringotto with her teeth if that was the only weapon she could find, and would follow Fëanáro gladly if that’s what it took to get there.
She was proud when Arafinwë turned his back on them all, head bowed with frustrated grief, and walked home in the starlit dark (she’d start thinking of that as an oxymoron, soon, but at the time it was so, so dark). She was relieved—Lalwendë only had one sibling she got to baby, and she was glad to see him staying safe.
She was nearly as glad, and nearly as proud, when she watched him step ashore on the Isle of Balar with his head high and steel-helmed, his eyes wide but not uncertain—not for more than a moment, at least; not so much that it threw off his bearing that was reminiscent of Fingolfin, of Finwë, of his own self, finally settled into his height and the potential breadth of his shoulders. Lalwen’s little brother had grown up and it turned out that he, too, was a king.
And thank the Valar for that, because Lalwen was not. She’d never been interested in rule. Yet to her it had been left to hold the Noldor together these last seventy-five years, by the skin of her teeth...
And by the aid of friends, kin and as-good-as. Círdan was as generous as the sea. Idril—now there was one who had grown up! She’d had all her father’s will and all her mother’s ruthless practicality, and her husband Tuor faced every new problem like a challenge of adaptation (and then they’d sailed after a false hope twenty-two years ago). And most of all, Gil-galad, the young sergeant from Nargothrond who still insisted that he’d only taken charge of its fleeing refugees because “everyone with more seniority was too wounded, in body or heart.”
That excuse had been weak when he’d arrived at the coast with nearly 200 refugees and promptly went back to search out more; it’d held up even less when he didn’t immediately surrender his command—not that he wasn’t unfailingly polite!—so much as as start sheepdogging Lalwen’s twitchy remnants of Hithlum as well, Noldor and Sindar and Men. He’d adopted every new wave of refugees much the same, always unperturbed when Lalwen just wanted to put her head in her hands and scream (and sometimes, to be fair, vice versa). The proud Iathrim, the shocked Gondolindrim, the stubbornly independent Halathrim and the Avari who felt trapped on even so fine an island as Balar. The terribly few left of Sirion... Círdan and his people saw that they were all fed (they ate a lot of fish) and Lalwen saw that everyone was housed and clothed, and Gil-galad saw that everyone was armed and ready, and that weapons were pointed outward rather than inward or sideways, and that as few people as possible took further wound to body or heart.
(Once upon a time this would’ve been Lalwen’s job, too. Once upon she could’ve organized a clapping, laughing ballroom dance in the middle of an active battlefield...but maybe she couldn’t have. Maybe she just hadn’t known any real battlefields.)
Arafinwë came as a hero, with a jeweled helm that was the brightest, cleanest thing Lalwen had seen in decades. Even after battle, the bloodstains came off of it like water off a fish’s back (Lalwen’s little brother could fight, now). Arafinwë came as a savior, with an army of not just Noldor but Vanyar and Maiar at his back, borne on Telerin ships. Arafinwë held his head high and introduced himself as “King of the Noldor” like that still meant something great and glorious, rather than bedraggled, broken, and stalked by death like a lamb in a warg den. Like it still meant one thing, and he couldn’t promise anything but (he whispered to her with unconcealed joy, that Findaráto had been re-embodied, so maybe...) he hoped, he couldn’t wait to welcome them all home again, just as soon as this last, greatest war was done.
Arafinwë had turned back, though. Arafinwë hadn’t been here the last time they’d said things like that, when the Siege-line stood strong, the watch-fires shone only to send messages of peace, and the sun was bright and clear on green Ard-galen. He hadn’t watched their older brother ride out like a falling star, and felt Morgoth’s terrible roar of triumph shake mountains and bones soon after. He hadn’t watched all their nephews and nieces, save his own missing daughter and one grand-nephew who never left the forge anymore, fall one by one to fire, dragons, balrogs, and worse. (Lalwen considered all her last nephews to have died in Sirion.) Arafinwë hadn’t even set foot on the Helcaraxë. He barely spoke Sindarin.
Arafinwë, too, was unfailingly polite to all his new allies, to Falathrim, Sindar, Avari and even Edain, whom he’d never met before save (more or less) Eärendil and Elwing. He’d always had good sense, more than the rest of the family. He was kind. He was sympathetic. He looked incredibly awkward and backtracked immediately after joking that it only made sense that they’d run out of kings in Beleriand, because there being no other candidates on offer was how he’d gotten the job in Tirion, too.
Lalwen found him conversing with Gil-galad on the forward-lines of the Western Host’s new shore encampment, one head sun-gold and another the russet brown of dry earth, with their helmets under their arms. Arafinwë’s armor shone with the unmatched beauty and craftsmanship of Valinor. Even Celebrimbor couldn’t get all the dents out of Gil-galad’s (though you could be damn sure he’d ensured that they were only cosmetic). Gil-galad greeted her as she approached, and immediately strode off to handle some matter with bowstrings.
Lalwen still knew her little brother’s face. As he watched Gil-galad walk away, it was set in the expression he wore when trying not to look like he was desperately trying to remember someone’s name.
Knowing that she knew, Arafinwë murmured, “Should I know his parentage? I swear his face is familiar, but I cannot place it.”
Gil-galad had never spoken of his parents, not to Lalwen at least. By his accent, she was fairly sure one was a Noldo and the other a Sinda. But coming from diverse Nargothrond, who knew. If Arafinwë recognized him, maybe one had been a friend of Finrod’s from Tirion?
She took her little brother by the arm and drew him to the side, and spoke in an undertone.
“I beg you, don’t react overmuch to what I tell you, much less speak of it to Gil-galad—much less pressure him in any way. He still mourns, and regards crowns as curses—for his father was Fingon– Findekáno, and when Dagor Bragollach came upon us, he was sent to foster in safety in Nargothrond, where he loved many and stayed until it fell.”
Arafinwë breathed in sharply. Be he otherwise stayed as calm as though she’d commented on the breeze.
“His mother was of the Falathrim.” The greatest storytellers drew from fact, and Fingon had been married. It’d just been…complicated, and they’d never had children. “She was shy of ceremony, so it was a fairly private wedding, but clever and fierce in spirit. She fell in the Nirnaeth—and then Ereinion was very close with Artaresto as well... Again, he doesn’t like to speak of it...”
“I will not burden him,” Arafinwë promised.
But he eyed Gil-galad, now speaking vehemently with a quartermaster, with new, more respectful consideration (and, to be fair, the wistful hunger of one yearning for any new word of his dead grandchildren).
It gave Lalwen the chance to silently, internally, roll her eyes. Had they all truly been so naïve once, to think blood mattered before it was spilled?
Well, Gil-galad would be annoyed at her once this new rumor got out, but he’d forgive her eventually—and maybe she’d even get a crown on his humble head, if they all somehow survived this “last, greatest war.”

Silvio Ricci. Chapter 11 + Letter
Church. Silvio and Gilbert.
Gilbert: Jade has a more complicated family situation than Belle, so I don't blame him.
Silvio: I hope you didn't make up this family situation yourself.
Gilbert: Haha, that's a terrible misunderstanding. I didn't have to make it up, but royalty always have their own messy family affairs, don't they?
Gilbert: I've only been using it for a while.
Gilbert: But you disturbed Grumpy Boy*, didn't you?
*根暗くん - nekura kun. Nekura - dark-natured; introverted; grumpy; gloomy; pessimistic
Silvio: I'm sick of your disgusting actions.
Silvio: If the woman chooses to be an Obsidian spies in order to hide her identity as Belle...
Gilbert: As expected of Grumpy Boy. No, I wonder if the "beast inside Grumpy Boy" has quieted down?
The second time I read Silvio's route. There was a mistranslation.
Gilbert is just talking about how the existence of a secret agreement between Rhodolite and Obsidian would have been a problem for Jade. Perhaps that's why Keith wasn't affectionate with MC.
Basically, Gil makes it clear that he knows everything and that he pushed Keith to do what he did.
Silvio doesn't like Gilbert's actions. Gilbert wants to find out what Silvio thinks of him.
Gilbert: You only have two choices, join hands or be forced to join hands, right?
Silvio: Huh?
Gilbert jumps off the podium and puts his cane to Silvio's throat. There was no chance to resist, it was an instantaneous event.
And then this image appears and I forget what I'm translating... Who is Silvio? Let me read about this guy 🚬🤤

Silvio is trapped.
Gilbert: Depending on what you do, I may have to turn my heart into a beast!
Silvio: Нa, I see.
Silvio realized that the case of Keith and MC and it was "a threat to him".
Gilbert gave it more time to think. But not for long.

The trail left by Silvio has not disappeared. The heroine is back in the collar.
She drinks tea with Rio. She confesses that she has grown to hate him less, so she decides to entertain the prince. And Rio has to help her do it.
Rio:.... How can I say no to MС when she asks me to do something for her? I am your loyal (dog) butler.
Rio gets jealous...

Day 1.
Leon and Jin recommended a liquor store.
Silvio liked the wine.
MC was pleased.
Then the prince added that it was possible to open a production facility in his country.
MC became sad.

Day 2.
Love this scene.
The hill, overlooking the city.
Rio's and MC's favorite spot.
Rio tries to get Silvio drunk on a spicy juice that makes "fatigue and consciousness magically deflate." Clavis' recommendation.
Silvio: 😐😑 You don't want to entertain me at all, do you?
Rio happily drinks the juice.
The result is known. Eyes on his forehead and cries of "It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!"
MC immediately begins to take care of Rio.
Silvio: Woman, give me a drink.
He drank....He liked it.
Rio: ....🤨🙄

Day 3.
Rose Garden. After all, Rhodolite is associated with roses.
Silvio: Damn, I'm not interested.......
Yves and Licht tell the trio about the secret gazebo.
The girl leads them there.
Rio: MC's smiling face is picture-worthy.

Boy in Love 🤗
Silvio: ......
Rio: Lord Silvio?

Day 4.
MC cooked fricassee. Silvio didn't want to try it at first.
Tsundere mood: on.
Silvio admitted that it wasn't bad.
But he ate it with pleasure.
MC: Practice saying "good" next time.
Tumblr media
Silvio: ....You're cheeky.
MC: Huh... Please stop mussing my hair.
Rio's not happy.

And Day 5.
Keith comes to apologize.
Tumblr media
Keith: You can beat me up all you want!
(This is a different person, not like the last time.)
MC forgives him, but Rio adds that it's only one time.

I praise you, read on.
Your recent entertainment isn't bad.
The only thing I don't get is the damn dog that comes with you every time.
But even with that, the content is much better.
I especially liked the rose fricassee.
You should definitely make it again.
And give me some more of your homemade food.
YOUR homemade food, of course.
If it's homemade, that means only you can make it.
I want that taste, so don't let anyone else cook it.
... And don't let the fucking dog help you cook.
Call me instead of cooking with him alone.
I'll help you out a little bit.
Silvio Ricci.
