Hello everyone I thought I’d introduce myself:) Im 23 born and raised in San francisco Ca. When im not blogging or feeling my intense emotions im probably at a restaurant lol Im a huge foodie;) my favorite food is Asian cuisine. Alot of my content on here is music related so i guess i should tell u ab my goth awakening! Darkwave and post punk flow through my body and veins. Im a daughter of 2 Immigrants from Central America, Both my parents lived through 80’s. My father is a activist and was drafted unwillingly to serve in the military in nicaragua when the revolution happened, While stationed in his base he started listening to bands like Kiss, Pink Floyd Iron Maiden, Queen, John Lennon, they became big influences on his anti-capitalist non-conforming ideologies. Growing up it had a big influence on my identity. Though I was born in 97 the tales my parents would share and the music they played always made me feel like I was in the 80s and like I lived through it with them, There is where i got my love for the 80s. Growing up in a Latin household there is a stigma around prioritizing ones self and mental health emotional well being. Parents and older generations have been taught for ages to be strong never weak and to always work hard. At some point you definitely find yourself not being able to process your emotions because you never alow yourself to feel them. Due to this I ended up becoming a very reserved & very shy sad kid, I was never able to release or express my emotions so music became my outlet and the emo genre became a big part of my identity. At 16 I got into a relationship with somebody in the rave scene, I there discovered the genres techno trance electro and I found that the sounds made me feel deeply but it was a little too upbeat and happy for my darkly inclined self. Along the way I discovered ebm industrial darkwave deathrock postpunk and it was a coming home for me. Bands like The cure, David Bowie, Echo and the bunny men, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus. The melodic bass and 80s sounding synth that I always heard in the New wave music my parents would play growing up. These sounds explained those feelings that I experienced my whole life but couldn’t express or explain. The music did the explaining, it resonated with my soul deeply. Since then the gothic genre and subculture have been big parts of my life, to me goth isnt an aesthetic or fashion statement, Its so much more than the color black. Its a way of being, its the way the music speaks to you and the way it moves you. Here on my page you’ll find derpy selfies of me and other darkly inclined posts. If you took the time to read this your dope thank you for taking an interest in me:)

“ What inspired this article to be created stemmed from the recent attack’s on social media platforms against the black goth community. Many individuals make the assumption that the goth community is strictly Caucasian and created only for Caucasians. Although, the very first rock and roll artist was an African American woman -- and many cultures such as West African , Caribbean, Native , Asian and Latino /Hispanic has Shaped the fashion , musical , poetic and art aspect of this subculture. After seeing many posts online speaking of historical inaccuracies and stereotypes regarding people of color in the goth scene we want to help to remove the ongoing stigma that in order to be part of the subculture you must be white with pale skin to participate. This subculture is indeed not about race , many of us came from all walks of life , we don’t care if you’re old , young , rich , or poor . We all share the same passion and love for the music . We promote unity and want to give others the chance to finally be heard and also break the misinformation that is being accepted as facts . “

punk/hardcore americano anni ‘80 tipo Adolescents, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, TSOL.
Gothic rock/darkwave: Joy Division (uno dei miei gruppi preferiti), Sisters Of Mercy, Merry Thoughts, The Cure, Ikon (che adoro).
Gothic electronic/EBM/Industrial: Apoptygma Berzerk, Covenant, Nine Inch Nails.
Synthpop/new wave anni 80: Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, A Flock Of Seagulls, New Order, Depeche Mode, Jimmy Sommerville e tutti i suoi progetti.

Hi, Auntie Jilli! The goth night in my town is having an All Types Of Goth-themed night, and we're all supposed to dress up like a different kind of goth than we usually go for. I'm sort of a tradrock/glam/deathrocker type, and I was wondering if you knew of any sort of goth style that you love that I could try out for a night without too much financial investment. (I was thinking Victorian, but that's kinda expensive and I like dancing all night with minimal sweating!) Thank you!
Ooooh! Hit the thrift stores* and look for some flowy skirts, lighweight lace scarves, and shawls. Wear your usual deathrocker top pieces, but add the skirts, tie the shawls around your waist , and use safety pins to secure other scarves and shawls to your top(s). Ta-da! Super-easy dark mori/witch fashion!
*You also can find these things on Amazon from the Asian fast-fashion companies, for prices that are only slightly more expensive than thrift stores.
