I loooove the headcanon that Raven is half-east asian!! I tried my best to draw the pieces of the Kimono correctly👉🏼👈🏼💜 I hope y'all like it.
In the future, when i have more practice drawing clothes in general, I would like to draw her in a more goth style traditional dress, I saw some in pinterest that were really beautiful 🖤💜
Please, don't repost my art!

As of Chapter 81, this is crew of the Courageous from Time to Orbit: Unknown, a marvellous space drama and mystery by @derinthescarletpescatarian . Original sketches & character guide below. Many of the character appearances are based on headcanon, but the ones with asterisks are based on canon sources.
Tumblr media
I drew Celi first! I figured I would do the people in front, who I would have to draw most of their bodies, and work from left to right. Celi has had multiple organ issues, so she looks a little drawn (lol) and is still recovering in her wheelchair :). I drew her with small braids just hanging from the top of her head, as I imagine she’s too tired to take care of her hair very often, but still wants to keep some, so she has a sort of cap of braids. There’s probably a term for the style, but idk. Celi is of North African descent.
Tumblr media
Next to Celi is Renn. His head looks wonky because I was drawing at an angle at the time. He’s been mostly depilated, and I imagine him in a sort of Aang-meets-European-in-a-tracksuit outfit because he’s calm and tries not to do much drama, but is condescending. Renn is of West Asian/American/Tarandran descent.
Then we have Public Universal Friend (PUF) 2 with the twists. I figure it doesn’t want a lot of hair to take care of, and this style keeps it out of its face. Same clothes as the other PUF. It is kneeling, with one leg propped up. It is of coastal Southern East African descent.
*Then laying on the ground is Tal. Ke is looking at kes tablet because ke doesn’t like focusing on other things. Tal is unfortunately at the wrong angle to show off ke’s face tattoo. Small afro kept stylishly kept, along with some garters and a short skirt. Ke is laying down because ke feels like it. Ke is of West African/American/Texan descent.
*Then we have Aspen, the POV character, smack dab in the middle. Canonically, they’d don’t have a headband as far as we know, but I think their hair looks nice pushed up like that. They are wearing a jumpsuit like last time, but this time has a belt for flair, because Tal and Sunset convinced them. Aspen sits cross cross because they can and it’s a common sitting posture in Arborea. They are of West African/American/Arborea Atlantican descent.
Lina is kneeling like PUF2, but facing the other way. I gave her buns and square jewelery because I based her off of a Hopi woman’s ’do that I really liked, and Lina can be short for names like Catalina. She has freckles because they’re fun. She’s gained some muscle and weight since the last picture, which is great! She is of Hopi/Latin American descent.
Last is Sunset. She is a zeelite, a subculture interested in replicating and investigating pre-Neocambrian (aka our time) cultures. She is largely inspired by what she knows of punk, pastel goths, drag, and to be honest, Barbie (2023). She is voguing because she knows and appreciates the importance of looking good. Sunset is of Central African/of Sirius descent.
Tumblr media
Now for the top row, left to right again!
First, we have Heli. She wears functional but pretty clothes because she appreciates utility but always wants to show off what she’s got. The newest addition to the crew, she’s a little spiky, but has a soft spot for Adin. She was inspired by a picture of a Sistergirl from Australia (my headcanon, I only saw a picture of her and was unable to find more specific information). Heli is of Indigenous Australian descent.
*Next, we have Adin. I keep forgetting to draw him with tattoos, so I added a neck one last minute. His look has probably changed the most - his canon picture came out only a few months ago, so I drew him differently the first time. Adin cooks a lot, so he doesn’t try to wear anything or have a hairdo that could be ruined by cooking. Adin is of West African/Arborea Atlantican/American/Texan descent.
*Next up, the tallest of the bunch (and I forgot to draw his left arm until last minute, we have Denish! He’s doing the Arnold Schwarzenegger pose. The gentle Giant of the group, I was unable to recapture his face quite the same way as last time, but I still think he turned out well. He’s one of my favorite space pirates. I think he wears high collars to hide Tinera’s hickeys. Denish is of West African/American/Texan descent.
Right in front of Denish is PUF 1, AKA Dr. PUF. Still has tousled hair, still has the same robe. PUF is kneeling. It is of European descent.
*Hanging off of Denish is Tinera! She’s changed also, as her official looks came out, though I think I’ve kept her pretty nice looking still! I forgot to give her glasses though :(. I gave her Garnet (Steven Universe) finger gloves because they look cool. Tinera is of Central African/Lunarian descent.
Under Tinera is Sam. He’s partly visually inspired by the Dad of some kids I watch, and Ballister from Nimona. He likes to gaze at the stars and wonder about all the stories that will be told about them. Sam is of South Asian descent.
*Lastly is Keldin (AKA Captain Sands). He’s always dressed well and keeps his hair well-coifed. Hardly anyone from the ‘first’ crew likes him. He is standing awkwardly farther away because he knows everyone near him isn’t his tan. Keldin is of West African/American/Trandran descent.

I'm sure you're entirely sick of talking about this bc that initial anon was... dumb as hell and I too would like to forget about it if I were you lol, so feel free to ignore this ask!! but I just wanted to throw in my two cents as a fellow non-white non-American fantasy writer. cause fantasy as a genre is so insanely whitewashed, and even in settings like TES that have multiple different fantasy-cultures that are meant to draw inspiration from lots of different real-world-cultures, they tend to be shallow and lacking and let's be real, TES isn't getting any awards for being politically correct. I for one always get insanely hyped when I see more diverse takes on fantasy, whether thats in original fiction or fanfiction, cause 1) it just vastly improves the quality of the world building and 2) it creates more welcoming spaces for other bipoc to create more cool stuff. and also, it's just fun as hell to project your own culture into dope fantasy settings. I do it all the time and I fuckin love when other people do it.
I feel like that anon was just looking for a fight and intentionally trying to interpret your comment in the most bad faith way possible (classic tesblr behavior ngl). and like I get it, orientalism sucks ass, but I've followed you for a couple years now and I've only ever known you to be a super chill, super respectful person who (like I said before) creates a welcoming space for other bipoc in the fandom.
tldr: anon is a clown, representation is fun, your blog slaps
❤ from @reachfolk
Yes yes YES I could hug you! Inclusivity and breaking away from whitewashed fantasy is one of my main goals with this blog! My recipes and worldbuilding have me neck deep in exploring global cuisine and culture, but as soon as it's a picture then people go off about cultural insensitivity. Because reading comprehension is low here so most people barely glance at the worldbuilding posts.
Growing up in the 90s and early 2000s, as far as Asian actors in Hollywood went, you had Lucy Liu and Jackie Chan. There was that show about Imperial Chinese cats called Sagwa (傻瓜 shagua literally means "dumb melon" which is what you call a certified idiot). Mulan (forever my favourite). Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon? But that's it. Seeing Michelle Yeoh winning everything recently makes me feel proud to be Asian. I cried when I saw Over the Moon.
If just ONE person looks at this blog and goes "cool, I learned something" or "cool, my culture is being recognised and represented as a form of inspiration", then I have done something right. Other Chinese/East Asian people in the past have applauded me for bucking the western "Asian" stereotype, simply because I express my love for my culture differently.
I'm no less Chinese for being fluent in English (which is actually my mother tongue btw thanks colonialism), or being a goth, or an author who happens to be atrocious at math. I just am. And I want everyone to just be too. To embrace their otherness, to rejoice in the diversity of the human experience, and to learn to live together. And most of all, I wanna see more awareness in writing (especially fantasy) about non-Global North cultures and the people who represent them. I'm sick of being a media cliché.
If you're a POC and you're looking for your sign to delve into fantasy worldbuilding, this is it. Go write. Create. Destroy. Build the world you've always wanted to see through the lens of your heritage, use your history as a lesson, use your language as a weapon. ~Tal

I think designing Archon versions of your favorite frames should be a thing (if it isn't already) Some preliminary takes on one for my Gara. Not 100% happy with it but I'll come back to it later. Was thinking Horus/Ra (because Narmer) but also the 3-legged crow motif from East Asian folklore. My Gara is very goth and my Tenno is very Eclipse with a lot of baggage about not being the heroic and pure original Gara Prime, so having her antagonistic counterpart be a divine sun crow seemed fitting.

Ten Books to Know Me:
@chubsthehamster put out a "participate if you want to" call, and I fucking love books, so why not! 1. Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, by Susanna Clarke - Read this first in high school and it rewired my brain. Dense, intricate, a November day of a book, it is about the inequities of class, race, gender, and also about the dry stone wall down the lane and its intimacy with the ivy that's grown over it for the last century. There are magicians and academic confrontations.
2. Food in England, by Dorothy Hartley - Read this a year out of undergrad. This is the book that convinced me that I could actually do something worthwhile with my interest in history. It was also fundamental in kicking a few chunks out of my ivory tower, but that's probably a personal take-away rather than anything essential to the book. Learn a few hundred small practicalities that may or may not be applicable to modern life; you decide.
3. Sabriel, by Garth Nix - The first book that spoke to baby's latent goth tendencies. The worldbuilding still lives in the back of my head. Made me interested in WWI history. Read it in middle school, I think? It was such a breath of fresh air, and I admired the protagonist and her self-discipline and self-reliance so much. Probably the first book that made me really worry whether the characters would survive until the end, and boy howdy was that formative. Zombies, quests to save fathers, learning that the legacy you thought was a burden is actually your calling.
4. Ombria in Shadow, by Patricia A. McKillip - Read in undergrad, I think? I reread it a couple times a year. It's a go-to story for when I need something comforting and decadent. I love the gauzy quality of the worldbuilding, the understated approach to very real-world dangers. A royal bastard, a former royal mistress, and a sorceress' apprentice race to protect a child king and save the and the living soul of a city.
5. The Sandman, by Neil Gaiman, et al. - This story got me through my late teens and early twenties. Exactly the right flavor of tragedy to grab my brain and shake it like a maraca; fundamentally changed how I look at stories and narratives. Person-shaped cosmic mechanism denies personhood, falls face first into the hole he's been digging for himself for a billion years, hitting every consequence on the way down, and finds a morsel of peace at the end.
6. Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio (聊齋誌異), by Pu Songling (蒲松齡) - I read this first while doing research for a fanfic and came away hungry for every bit of "classic" Chinese literature in English translation I could find. I've always had a fondness for supernatural anecdotes (The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries, by WB Yeats, etc), but this is on the list because it was the initial experience in an ongoing foray into classic and modern East and Southeast Asian literature.
7. Underland, by Robert Macfarlane - Read this a couple years ago. Everything you ever and never wanted to know about caves and being under the earth. The texture of Macfarlane's prose is unlike anything else, and he spends 500 pages leading you in and out of the dark.
8. Night Watch, by Terry Pratchett - This is my compromise instead of just listing every Terry Pratchett book. I read this when I was 12, and I mean it in earnest when I say it shaped how I think to this day. Pratchett's work is a load-bearing beam in my brain. Another grey book, but also lilac.
9. A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn - Okay look, LOOK, I know what you're thinking, but I read this when I was a teenager living in an extremely conservative pocket of a very liberal state. It made me think, which I was good at avoiding because school came easy to me and I usually didn't have to engage my brain at all to have the right answers. I wish with all my heart that I could write to the teacher who assigned it, because it was the very first time anyone had ever made me read history outside a history textbook. I resented that man so much at the time, but I owe him my current career.
10. Stiff, by Mary Roach - Read this as a teen and finally got answers about death I hadn't gotten in a lifetime of religious education. I think I actually snuck it into Mass, because I have a distinct memory of cramming it between the cushion and arm of a pew. Sparked an interest in death and human remains that lead me closer to where I am today.
Please consider yourself tagged if you'd like to participate! And tag me back so I can add more books to my tbr list, please! <3

I have my critiques for G3 Monster High, overall I like it but it would've been nice they were more goth and monstery and some of the personalities are off-base. But maaaan the way some people talk about the new generation fucking irks me. Watching someone say "I hate that Draculara isn't Roma anymore 😒" which like first off, I'm pretty sure she wasn't Roma in the first place (correct me if I'm wrong), and she's still half Transylvanian. Second I know what you're actually saying is "I don't like that she's Asian now" despite the fact that Draculara's fashion has always been heavily based off various East Asian alternative subcultures esp Gothic Lolita so it makes sense to make her Asian. And Third! It is not good, to have a vampire character be Roma actually, that was like one of the main problems of the original Dracula story, that it was heavily antisemitic and anti-Roma because it depicted these groups as blood sucking monsters and was clearly just blood libel shit so no actually I don't think it would be good representation to have a vampire character specifically the daughter of Dracula be Roma.

Personal: 12/23/23 AM
All but two of the Millennials are off visiting family right now. Over the course of the year, I've been inducting Newest Millennial into assorted seasonal activities that we do as a friend group, like swim in the lake, secret pumpkin/my birthday party/Friend Fest, etc.. When we were doing Friend Feast planning, Newest Millennial wanted to know if there was some sort of end of December Party. I was like, most people are gone and I'm not Christian, so I do what a lot of the people who aren't christian do in big north east Cities for Christmas Eve: get Asian Food. (I explained the origin, etc., which I'm going to leave out here).
They found the idea delightful, so I was like: Do you want to see if Goth Millennial wants to come and the three of us can have a nice dinner and hang out? And newest Millennial loved the idea. None of us are Christian in different ways. For Goth Millennial and I, this is our home; there is nowhere really to go back too. Though I have a couple family members living in other parts of the country, none of us travel anymore. Newest Millennial has family but there are no important holidays in their religion this time of year this year. (Squirrel is also non-christian, and what little family he has left is local, but he works all this weekend. Also, he's not into vegetarian Asian food).
So we got to mid-December and I'm like: do we want to do Christmas Eve? Solstice? One of the nights in between? We ended up picking Friday for assorted reasons, and had a really nice hang out with dinner and presents and tarot, which I like to do at the turning in any case. I am now up to two shirts I can wear post surgery, which means I will have something to wear when the other is in the wash. I suspect that I will spent most of the two weeks with my arm immobilized just running around in sweat pants or boxers, so I can save the shirts for Doctor's appointments and the like. I have a couple other shirts I can use when I'm in the limited motion recovering period. I'm hoping it will be all right.
There is talk of a potluck Saturday the 30th which sounds perfect. I don't like leaving the house at night on major drinking holidays, and my part of town is extra bad on those, plus full of cops looking for an excuse to pull people over. Goth Millennial and Newest Millennial don't drink, and I basically only drink for weddings and wakes (Election night 2016 counted as a Wake. I still have left over alcohol from that, gathering dust for the next close to me death or National Disaster). None of us have partners and like quiet evening at home better than loud drunk parties, etc..
All this may explain my posting pattern.
Man, I miss when there was most of a month of quiet in the news cycle to catch up on stuff. It's been firehouse of news since 2o16. Sigh. There used to be one around August too, but that went out when Republicans decided to make it wander the country saying and doing horrific shit season. These days it's democratic politicians try to talk Republicans into doing the bare minimum of their job season. Sigh. anyway, I'm doing my best.

Kpop is not really my "cup of tea" since I'm a goth woman but let's play and see.
Something positive about MC facial feature options: I'm half asian (Japanese) on my mother's side and western people seem to think that east asian people always look the same, it's great to see different face options, with different eye sizes, formats and all. Kudos for RC for that ❤️

You get the same shit for lolita fashion. Just more vitriolic, "if you're not a conventionally attractive skinny pale east asian girl you can't wear lolita fashion!!!!" And it's parroted by both groups in lolita fashion, and outside of it. But people have started doing their own shit, so you also see black, white, brown, etc, thick, fat, muscled, and conventionally "not super attractive" (societies lies hurt us all) people joining in bc fuck everyone else.
Yeah, I feel that people have become more open to lolita/Goth Lolita being more universal in recent years.
Though, we have to understand that 'more' still means that there is a decent-sized contingency that starts piling on the shitty comments when they see someone aside from the 'conventionally attractive skinny pale east Asian girl' set posting pics of their latest ensemble.

It deserves its own post
Public education in the US is riddled with commies and either bias pro-Russia shills or aggressively neutral in Russia's favor. Tankies are rife in our education system, and they use the power of omission and obfuscation to make sure book sources that are inconvenient to their preferred ideology remain buried under dross, the books remain inaccessible, or make the lowest hanging fruits books that talk at length and ad nauseum exclusively about the racism, colonialism and exploitation of minorities by Western Europe.
This is why gradeschoolers and highschoolers state-side tend to go from their first year of school to their pre-university/college years, not really formally learning a damned thing about Russia's dirty laundry and how it treated its neighbors outside of the context of Poland in WW2, Czchloslovakia getting a single mention (guess why) and East Germany.
The people that used to whoop up the Soviet Union as a beacon of tolerance and progressive, race neutral, rational policy (in contrast to the religious fundamentalist, white supremacist, patriarchal west) would filibust and aggressively segue conversation away from anything even broaching or approaching Russia's ethnic cleansing, "Russification" or conquering of North and Central Asian territories and populations. They couldn't go a day without seeing every opportunity to make little zingers mocking people like founding fathers and historical western figures as just being irredeemable, racist, sexist, horrible old white men (everything they saw wrong about the west) but if you surprised them by making similar comments about shitty things the Imperial Russians or even worse, the Soviets were doing, then they'd grouse and take it personally and aggressively try and change the subject so it stopped being the topic of conversation, and fewer people heard it, internalized it and repeated it.
We had Nazis doing these social techniques in the states before them, too. Little, "Jokey jokes" insinuating the Jews were just conspiracist ethnosupremacists plotting to take over the world and subjugate all non-Jews, how they were terrible, this that and the other. Trying to just randomly interject these comments as if they were common and true enough in reality to be obvious and fact. But, it was deliberate social propaganda. And eventually, got called out.
Soviet Sympathizers were a special breed of viral memers before meming was a thing, though. You've heard of the Grass Roots? Well, Marxist sympathizers doing the cultural guerilla thing were like astro turfers. People that just as par for the course of their ideology knew how propaganda and media worked, so rather than respect people and not abuse it, decides the correct course of action was to use said platforms and media sources to propagandize for their own purposes, while lamenting that which was not their ideological platforming was propagandizing, and "calling it out."
They went into remission and hiding after the Berlin Wall fell and kind of slid in to mourn among the goths throughout the early 90s, but they never went away entirely.

of course of course! it’s my pleasure doing this trade with you! thank you! anyways;
let’s start of with…
Tumblr media
𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐤𝐮 !
Tumblr media
-he could listen to you talk for hours upon hours. he would not get bored either, he would just stare at you with his intense yet comfortable eyes and urge you one to continue talking about whatever you’re talking about. he’d even ask questions or make connections to the things you’re talking about. it would be a pretty loud conversation between the both of you
-once he hears you speak another language he’s shocked at first, but then he becomes so intrigued and interested with it. he asks lots of questions about the language you speak and also asks what certain words are in said language. he mostly asks about words that he can use to compliment you. his pronunciation might not be too good but he’s trying!
-the two of you will never stop talking, it’s impossible for you guys to. people have tried to force the two of you to stop but it has not worked. as i said before he could listen to you talk for hours. he honestly just likes that someone is just like him, extroverted, can talk for hours, a loud talker, and optimistic
-the two of you are literally the father figures to a lot of people. you constantly have to remind the people you care about to do something and Rengoku would chime in like, “Yes! They also need to do this!” this often leads to a lot of people gravitating towards the two of you because of you guy’s warm aura. and being protective of others also comes with Rengoku being protective of you as well!
-he would never say anything rude about you, i don’t think he even can, he’ll shut down if anything rude comes out of his mouth when he’s talking about you. and he’d never leave you alone for a long time. but if there’s the small chance he ever does he’d reassure a million times and deny any negative thing your mind has came up with.
𝐆𝐨𝐣𝐨 !
Tumblr media
-once he hears you speaking a different language he becomes so intrigued and amazed, he thinks it’s so cool. he’ll kinda ask some unnecessary questions and will not stop asking them for days and days. he’ll ask you how to say curse words in the languages you know, i mean who doesn’t automatically learn curse words first when learning a new language?
-so we all know that Gojo is a very stylish man. he would totally match outfits with you. no matter what style you choose for the day, he finds a lot of your styles very interesting and can’t help but regularly buy clothing that fits whatever style he finds interesting , he’d sometimes even wear it without matching it you, he just wears it to wear it and because the style is cool. but i also think he would tease you with certain clothing styles.
-the two of you are literally so silly together. the two of you will just be outside together and everyone in a 5 mile radius can hear your laughter. he’d make you pull or help him pull some shenanigans with his students. and while the two of you are out you guys would randomly choose someone and point stuff out about them, or at least Gojo would.
-whenever Gojo is bored he’ll ask you something about whatever has your interest at the moment. he’s also one that can listen to you talk for hours, he’ll also add some stuff that reminds him of what you’re talking about. and sometimes he’ll tend to talk over you so that’s when you have to give him a little nudge and he’ll let you continue what you were talking about.
-we all know Gojo can say some teasing things, it’s in his nature to. but if he ever says anything that upsets you and makes you start overthinking he’ll drop the funny guy act immediately and genuinely apologize to you. he can’t stand seeing you act so cold and aggressive towards him.

13. Dream job:
I do not dream of labor 🤣 but I'm proud to say I fulfilled the dream of my younger self and currently working as a professional writer for events marketing. She has always wanted to become a writer. While the process of achieving this is not easy and I experienced having self-doubt and questioning my life decisions countless of times, I guess you would always end up where you're supposed to go. And I can say I am content with the current job that I have. I am not an ambitious person and I have no desire to get promoted to a higher position because that would only mean more workload for me 🤣 and I hate the thought of that. I place a great value on work-life balance and that's the first thing I prioritize every time I apply for a job
14. Dream Trip:
I have a lot of places I want to visit! I guess it's because growing up, I wasn't able to travel a lot. So now that I am older and earning my own money, I want to spend it in a memorable way. I hope I can travel more in my country, the Philippines, because we've got a lot of beautiful scenery, forests, nature spots, and islands that I haven't seen yet. I want to visit the East Asian and other South East Asian countries because I'm interested in their culture. Traveling to Europe is also on my bucket list, and I want to visit The Netherlands the most so I could finally see my long-time best friend @happysops 💜
I have a lot of things I want to do 🤣

I hold high respect and admiration for musicians because I am not musically inclined 😅 I never had a chance to learn how to play any instruments
