Brahmastra is what we the late 80s and 90s kids dreamed of when we first started getting anime in India!

Fellow 90s born Indians, Remember Digimon and Beyblade?

Brahmastra is the love child of ‘Digimon, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Beyblade & Star Wars’ Jessa kuch banyenge dreams which had arranged marriage with Bollywood Love Story.

First of all I had no expectations, because from trailer. I knew Brahmastra  is visual extravaganza. It almost did deliver the promise except for too much ‘kesariya tera’ playing on loop every 2mins and a really irritating set design that to and fro from Bansali to Marvel.

Main complaint: Terrible dialogue writing. And something was really off with dialogue recording/delivery too. It felt like I was watching a masala Telugu movie with atrocious Hindi dub on Sony Max on a Sunday afternoon. No effort was put to make it impactful.

Story is so cliche, that it was obvious from trailer only. Orphan special one meets the manic pixie dream girl and grand old theme of Power Of Love. Nice idea badly executed; Do better Ayan, I know you can— I have seen Wake Up Sid when I was 17; you cant fool me.

But it was fun to watch if the audience is like me—who grew up on steady diet of anime as Ayan definitely had lot of Naruto, Digimon, Beyblade, and Dragon Ball dreams for his characters’ visual powers. I know my anime and star wars and comics so it was easy spot.

The visual depictions of power were sadly very marvelish; the hyper cracking Bisexual colours that look great on screen when characters clash. I was expecting more of Shaktiman colour tones; not like the 90s but, something less Disney colours and more homegrown.

I wanted more of the astra lore; look I love superhuman stories! And Astra wielders sound so much fun! So mythological part was shaky. Give more lore and cut out the songs! Too much songs! Nahi chaiye!

Most reviews are saying it is inspired from LOTR+HP+Marvel+Starwars! Pffft— I am telling you; IT WAS TOTALLY INSPIRED FROM ANIME THAT STARTED AIRING IN INDIA FROM LATE 90s and crowded our homes till 2010s! Ayan is totally an otaku. And I relate and appreciate it!

There many cameos! The first cameo was a surprise to me! But man the dialogues were so bad that they wasted such a great opening. I mean you literally the king of Bollywood building the story for you! But damn those badly written dialogues!

I love Mouni Roy! She did her best to be the devoted antagonist! Mouni really carried her Nagin from small screen to big screen well and made it much more! I wish we got to see her do the hiss hiss! Please keep her for the next two movies! I need her!

Alia was really a manic pixie dream girl; if she is Partvati to this Shiva! You better make her have powers or some key function in next two parts; otherwise Isha will be remembered just like Orihime for her “Kurosaki Kun” and Skura for her “Sauske-kun!”cries!

But I had loads of fun watching it, because my suspension of disbelief is commendable. I have many complaints but I am glad to finally have Indian fantasy of this scale on screen! That too in 3D! I want to know what is happening in this Astraverse! I am hooked!

P.S.- My mom hated every moment of it. And kept reminding me the entire time thar it is just like the cartoons I watch and you bet she meant One Piece!

Hrithik Roshan allots 60 days for War 2; Yash Raj Films adopts innovative filming technique

YRF has clearly cracked the new format of shooting for feature films and is the only production house that's making optimum utilization of technology. The latest example is War 2, which features Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR in lead roles. The film went on floors in November last year and the director, Ayan Mukerji has already shot for two overseas schedules without the presence of leads. "It's the most modern technology where outdoor shoots in action space are done with body doubles and the makers then swap the faces using VFX," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

Hrithik started shooting for the film at YRF in Mumbai on March 7. "He is shooting for his entry sequence and it's an action-packed stint. Hrithik has allotted merely 55 to 60 days for War 2 and most of the film will be shot at studios in Mumbai. Interestingly, it will be a wrap for Hrithik on War 2 by June 2024, and it's among those films which he will conclude in record time," the source told us further.

Jr. NTR on the other hand starts his journey on War 2 from April and it will be a wrap for him by the end of July. "Much like Hrithik, Jr. NTR too has allotted 60 days to shoot for War, which includes 25 to 30 days of combination shoot. YRF has mastered the art of mounting big films efficiently - as this template neither requires more days of shoot from actors nor does it add on to the budget," the source shared.

With the availability of technology, the makers can shoot most films in the studio set up and avoid leaks from on-ground locations. In recent times, only Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has not used the technology as the makers went real with real action sequences on the ground performed by the leading pair.

You know, the power of love is a curious thing: Makes a-one man weep, makes another man turn into a bright pink demigod of living flame that can exert power over reality itself.

Anyway, while there is a lot about this that doesn't really bear thinking about even a little bit, it has some really good action scenes, very pretty colors, and a rock solid score. Good times to be had.

Would this wonderfully uncrowded film have worked without Ranbir Kapoor? Ranbir’s Sid is a near-perfect portrait of the aimless young man searching for a direction in life. Ranbir handles the character’s inner life with the effortlessness of a Sitar maestro twiddling with his instrument’s strings to create a music that takes the audience to a world where the sounds suggest a harmony between art and life.

ProjectK at San Diego Comic-Con

Are they really that crazy 😱... I mean seriously San Diego Comic-con 👀 that too an Indian film 😯. Project K will be the first film to showcase at World famous Comic Con 😵.

It also makes sense because the biggies step back for this year's comic con due to Writer's Strike in Hollywood. But also, I just hope this doesn't turn out to be something really bad like Adipurush. 🤞.

Well, I don't know about the director, we don't know how much surprises and freshness these new directors with new stories can bring, Prashant Neel & Ayan Mukerji is the latest example 😏.

Now, I have 2 reasons to be excited about this first my most, it's sci-fi, obviously my fav 🥲 and second, San Diego Comic-con🤔... It will be really crazy if they showcase the concept of Project K at Comic Con or at least tease something.

 And a big IF this works super well, then new gates of inspiration and scale will be opened for Indian sci-fi movies in the future 🫠.
