It had taken forever, but he was finally on the way to getting what he wanted. A fractured, injured heart to join his with, to absorb it and heal what had been broken by Xehanort. It was a stubborn thing, but that was no matter. Vanitas had waited four years for this. Now, Xehanort couldn't tell him what to do anymore; he had nothing to hold over his head.

Finally... he was going to be whole.

They haven't merged yet, but Vanitas could feel his existence slowly beginning to combine with hers. What would he be like when it was complete? What would it be like to feel without all of this pain?

It was exciting...and terrifying, all at the same time. Who would he be after this?

'What if this doesn't work?' a voice in the back of his mind whispers to him. 'She isn't Ventus. This isn't your heart.'

He didn't have an answer for himself, not yet.

Right now, his new vessel isn't even fully aware of him. She certainly senses something. She's been jumpy, and paranoid. He can feel all of her emotions like they're his own. And, inversely, the sheer weight of all the negativity Vanitas contains has been notable to her as well.

He sighs through his nose, watching Xion wash her face in the sink. Then, she looks up, water trailing down her forehead and cheeks, off of her chin. She raises her eyes to the mirror...

...And their eyes meet.
