As Indigenous woman filmmakers, we knew that our path through the industry would be narrow and that our film, Fancy Dance, would have a small window for success based on the abysmal record of representation for Indigenous folx in Hollywood. As such, we channeled our collective wills as granddaughters of Dust Bowl survivors, descendants of genocide and avowed followers of the indomitable Merata Mita to give this film the best shot possible. If there existed a “how to make a successful movie in Hollywood” checklist, we followed it to a tee. Step one: Create a compelling script (after her sister’s disappearance, a hustler kidnaps her niece from the child’s white grandparents and takes her to the state powwow in hopes of keeping what’s left of her family intact) – check. Step two: Find top-tier producing partners (Nina Yang Bongiovi, Tommy Oliver) – check. Step three: Cast amazing actors at the top of their field (soon-to-be Oscar nominee Lily Gladstone) – check. Step four: Premiere and screen at world-renowned festivals (Sundance, SXSW, BFI London) – check. Step five: Receive excellent reviews (THR called it “exceptional”) and festival prizes (Hamptons, L.A. Outfest, Mill Valley, NewFest, Sun Valley, Tacoma) – check. Step six: Get a distribution deal – …crickets.

i'm just. taking a break from work and thinking about the fact that it's been almost two years since the c2 finale and that campaign still has me in a chokehold. i still think about the wizards all the time, which shouldn't surprise anyone but it's still remarkable. just taking a little moment to be in my feelings about them on main, nothing to see here

One random idea I think about a Lot is if Amon and Kaneki encountered each other at a church like,

A tip lands on the CCG's desk about a potential ghoul hideout/sighting at a church, nobody pays it much mind, they get tips like these all the time and there's really not a lot of details to it and they have bigger cases to worry about

Despite that, Amon decides to go investigate it because. He's not exactly Sure but he has. Not quite a Bad Feeling but a Feeling about it. Maybe some leftover intuition from Mado. And when he gets there and steps inside he sees Eyepatch sitting at the pews. Maybe he's kneeling there with his hands together, maybe he's just sitting there and calmly remarks that he didn't expect to see Amon here.

Maybe Kaneki was also pursuing ghouls that were hiding out here, or maybe it's just the two of them and they just Chat (maybe it's after the Lab Incident when Kaneki lost control of himself and he expresses his guilt over losing himself and how he can't really face his friends because of it), Idk !!

(Maybe instead this is all set in :re and the situation is flipped where Haise goes to investigate a church, either because of an anonymous tip or maybe Donato told him to, or hinted that he'd find something Important there

And at this church he encounters a Mysterious Guy who seems to recognize him a lot more than he does this stranger, maybe Haise starts visiting here regularly to talk with him because he seems to be kind and there's Something About Him, who knows,)

I have so many more thoughts about things like this but I will leave it here for now, just. man,

eyeballing at gl:tas halbarry even barry didn't appear at that show at all (idk I feel like if barry appears in gl:tas the halbarry fandom will explode)

Can we all agree that the portrayed writing for the characters in GL:TAS is one of the best-perceived versions (<- Might be me but that show actually understood the characters, let me be honest...) Especially the comics they have on this show...

So, if we ever got a glimpse of Hal's civil life + league life in the show every now and then... I feel that we would get to explore partially his relationships with people, like how they did for characters in the show. Not to mention, we don't exactly get Hal content, because that DCAU GL and FLASH over different media has kinda been John and Wally, unless we talk for movies but I also love that duo though, they're funny...

I would let the people in charge of GL:TAS write for Barry... Or PLEASE if he did, I would enjoy seeing them with The Brave and The Bold dynamic... (Would literally kick my legs and giggle). I could image that the series version of Hal and Barry would be a take on their friendship, specifically with how they act with one another. They would also personally portray Barry as a nerd, let's be honest... Or just the way (If anyone has ever seen Star Trek: The Original Series) (TOS) Spock (<- Star Trek reference, uhmm K/S is so Halbarry..)

frogs

You're walking in Caledon Forest one day when you see two specific sylvari on a walk together. One of them, perfectly serene, is happily pausing to wait every few steps while the other goes delightedly ricocheting off, regularly disappearing from view in one area only to suddenly reappear in a completely different area moments later.  Her returns to her companion are, to a one, sprinting full tilt at xyr before coming to an abrupt stop mere inches away so as to excitedly present xe whatever it is she's found. 

For xem part, you don't see xe flinch a single time; each return is met with the same affectionately solemn acceptance of whatever is being handed to xyr. 

As your own path brings you closer to them, the serene sylvari notices you watching them curiously; you suddenly have a sense of an idea of going closer, overlaid with inquisitiveness and… general amusement maybe? You're not entirely sure; it's decidedly not your thought. 

You come closer, and the inquisitiveness changes into a sense of greeting, like two people saying hello. You're not quite sure what's happening, but you do have manners, so you wave your own greeting at xe; the other sylvari has disappeared off again. 

Now xer sends you a sense of calm delight and amused mystery, and shows you xem clasped hands. "Oh?" you ask, and xe open xem hands to reveal–

Frogs. Multiple tiny frogs. Who, despite being frogs, and therefore working with significantly less in the expressions department, are still managing to look distinctly confused as to how they ended up in the hands of this random, perfectly calm and sedate sylvari. 

The riddle is solved, for you at least, when the other sylvari suddenly appears directly to your left, making you jump. She visibly vibrates with excitement as she presents her companion with, somehow, yet another frog. 

It looks just as confused as the others. 

The moment the frog is accepted into her companion's hands, still with the easy solemnity of each previously accepted offering, the sylvari is haring off again. You watch as her companion carefully maneuvers all but one frog onto a single hand, and then delicately holds the one on their other palm out towards you. In your mind's eye you see an image of the same frog, and with it comes that sense of inquisitiveness again, and an idea of taking it. 

You take the frog. "Thank you?" you say. 

Xyr smile brightly, eyes squinting nearly shut in satisfaction. Then, with a final nod to you and a sense of farewell, xyr turns away to continue xe walk. 

You look at the frog you are now holding. It looks about as confused as you feel.

I'm pretty disheartened in general, because I'm going through one of those points where everything I do feels inferior and I just can't physically push myself hard enough to make a lot of progress anywhere with any sort of speed

This is fishing, but like... To feel any better, have you downloaded any of my fics so you don't lose them?? I've been doing it to ones I can't lose because of the general direction of the Internet, and I... I don't know. Maybe it'll backfire and the answer is "no," although I'm assuming people have done that to Tumbling Down just like. Statistically looking at the numbers on it.
