While there, she meets the resident superhero, the Quiverwing Quack, and becomes a superhero alongside her, just in time to fight two supvervillains who strike a little too close to home. Power of Four AU {Masterpost I Chapter 1 I Chapter 2} - Beakley gets called away on a Shush mission and leaves Webby with Donald. She never comes back, leaving Donald to raise Webby. Ten years later, the quadruplets begin to discover the mystery of Webby’s missing grandmother and what they can do to get her back.

Lucky Puppet AU - Magica gets sick of Lena and uses the last of her power to latch onto Gladstone. After she has regained some of that power, she forces him to connect with his family as a way of getting her close to Scrooge and he starts to realize he can’t betray them, even if his life is at stake. Meanwhile Lena, lost and alone and starving, gets taken in by Beakley but is panicking because she’s in the house of her aunt’s worst enemy and no one knows who she is.

Duckberg Falls AU {Part 1 I Part 2} - (my very first au aaaaah!) Ducks in Gravity Falls!

Secret Agent AU - Scrooge stuck in the spy business, and raised Della and Donald to be secret agents as well! Donald takes the kids away, but after a particularly nasty brush with one of Fowl’s chief agents, Flintheart Glomgold, Shush executives force him to move into McDuck Manor (which just so happens to be one of their headquarters). The kids get immersed in the business. At least Shush still doesn’t know he’s secretly Paperinik, one of the only superhero in Duckberg/St. Canard not somehow affiliated with Shush.

Spyience/Spyro/GySpy AU - Two dramatic scenarios of Team Science getting involved with Shush and Fowl as secret agents! Separate from the Secret Agent AU.

Duckpunzel AU - (movie-based), Lena, the orphan adopted by the royal family/captain of the guards in Corona, their youngest princess (before Princess Della’s sons and Captain Beakley’s granddaughter were born) was kidnapped by her biological aunt, the witch Mother Magica. She spends 18 years locked up in Magica’s tower before her adventurous adoptive sister/girlfriend, Webby, bursts into her tower, on the run from her great-uncle because she stole the tiara meant for Lena (she only wanted to study it!)

Webby’s Tangled Adventure AU - (series based) After being rescued from Magica’s tower by the love of her life, Louie, the adventurous lost princess Webby must adjust to royal life. But it’s not long before her magic hair comes back and her new best friend Lena takes her to see a young alchemist, Huey, in Old Duckberg. Shenanigans ensure, and Webby sadly has to fight Huey, but soon she and her gaggle of friends are on another great adventure, following the black rocks past St. Canard and many other magical places.

Mamma Mia AU (a collab with ppl from the Delpad Discord) - HDLW live on a beautiful island with their mom and uncle, running a hotel. Dewey and Webby are about to get married, but when Dewey and his siblings are going through people to invite, he finds his mom’s old journal and three important names. Launchpad McQuack, Don Karnage, and Storkules. Of course he has to invite them!

// To Mun: Did you see the Let's Get Dangerous promo? What did you think of it? Are you looking forward to the episode or no? I know there's a fair share of fans of older Disney Duck media, like yourself, that are disappointed with decisions made in the reboot, and I think it's important for older fans to be allowed to share their opinions without being harassed. Critical thinking is important, and it's important to be able to share opinions, good and bad, especially if you're a long-time fan!

{{ Before I rant, I JUST HOPE I’M WRONG ABOUT THE UPCOMING EP. And if I am, I’ll admit it.

I have a lot to say, so for sanity’s sake a chunk is under the cut, and long story short folks? I am nervous af about the DWD episode. I think it looks pretty. That’s it. I am not looking forward to being upset by all the fanboy changes Frank will have undoubtedly made. He’s made it clear every day behind the scenes that he doesn’t give a fuck about what the seasoned team or original creators want, and he’s well known in the field to disrespect “his elders” as well as his new team naysayers, treating them like shits, and he rules with an iron fist. So I am excited to see the ART, but not the way it’s written.

The art is nice for what it is, not going to deny that I like how DT17 looks. ( I also love the original style too, because cell-art is superior to me ) I guess I differ from fellow “old school fans” in that I DO like how the show looks. 🤷‍♀️ It has polished animation that is much different from the inconsistent styles from 4 different studios hand painting the cells. ( Although I appreciate hand painted-cells!!! It’s fun to see diff styles too!! ) For the most part, the characters and backgrounds in DT17 are consistently styled, and there is a feel of modern western comic mixed with manga art brought to life.  Which is ironic, because the WRITING is  inconsistent, brick-a-bracked, disconnected, and has a multitude of continuity issues in lieu of whatever joke of the day fits the featured character. But, that’s what you get when each 24 minute episode is written by 6-12 people. And, there can be no consistency among those 5-12 writers/scripts between production gaps. One writer may do 1 episode one season, while only contribute a scant amount to 4 eps on another season, and then never write again until the finale, and only contribute ONE scene. Of course, many ideas have been thrown out that promote continuity and loyalty to story arcs and characters by, you guessed it, Frank. The best TV, animated or live, has 2-3 writers per episode at most, and a story editor that actually cares about consistency and the show as a whole. Not several vignettes that don’t connect and appear to look like a meta-gaming wet dream and bad fix-ups. It’s highly sophomoric.

There is obviously a clash of egos going on behind the scenes, and too many cooks ruin the soup.

BTW; I thank you for asking me, but to be perfectly honest, I am well aware of how the tumblr “DT17 only” fans think of us old-schoolers. They are not kind to us, and most of them think we’re overreacting, “problematic,” mean, and should “Just STFU and let them have the show” to themselves.  We never said you can’t enjoy the reboot for what it is, an AU. But we’re the ones told consistently that if we don’t bow down and accept the reboot as BIBLE truth, we’re to be ousted. I KNOW, I play 2 DT17 muses here, but I can bridge the differences just fine. But the flaws are so big for me, I have to cherry pick “DT17 canon” and ignore much of fandom to enjoy it.

What Frank & company are doing is disrespectful. Not just to the majority of Duck fans, but to the original creators, actors, and artists that worked so hard for 30-90 years to make these characters come to be. I know I won’t convince any of the new fans, so I’m going to be brutal. They are only on board with what Frank is doing because he loves to bait the young fandom into disagreements if it means their crack!ships are validated for 1 episode with forced subtext or vague tumblr/twAtter posts. If they actually saw the original content as a whole, they’d be pissed too. 

To those of us that actually grew up with both Ducktales and Darkwing Duck, owned Disney Adventures mags, Don Rosa comics, and respect Tad Stones for not only birthing DWD, but GARGOYLES, our stomachs drop before most episodes begin. We’re preparing ourselves to see a blasphemous take on characters and storylines that DO NOT NEED UPDATING. “Woke is the autotune of art and tv,” folks. It doesn’t make it better, it’s like putting a cup of salt on an already seasoned dish.

SO. Ehhhhhhhhhh I am more cautious than usual about the 1 hour DWD special. I am EXTREMELY nervous about Gosalyn.

She’s aged up “to a sassy teen” like Lena for some stupid reason, when she’s always been 9-10. There’s other issues facing Gos I am not comfortable talking about openly, but basically, I don’t like what Frank’s been doing to old characters to make them more woke and modern, there was NOTHING wrong with these characters. 

Some of his voice actor choices by the way? Not a good match. Don’t get me started on Jason taking over for Steelbeak. Stephanie B is funny/sexy irl, she’s made a career out of the edgelord-deadpan-roughneck routine, but she’s not a voice actress. Christine Cavanagh ( RIP ) had a youthful, spunky, cuteness that Stephanie lacks. So instead of finding an actress that has true Gos “flair” he picks someone that’s deep-voiced and cold, instead of cute and spunky. Frank seems hellbent on making every female dry, rude little edge-lords and it’s PLAYED OUT. I’m finding it very hard to like former female characters I adored growing up because almost all the women & girls in DT17 are bitchy she-beasts, and the men are either bumbling idiots or weak boys that need the women/girls to wipe their tushies for them after potty. It’s so demeaning to these characters. As a grown woman, I am not threatened by men, so I don’t need them to be dumbed down to make me feel big. I just KNOW Gosalyn, a now “Sassy Teen” is going to be a disrespectful ASSHOLE to Drake. Old school Gosalyn was TOUGH and a huge handful, but there was still an endearing charm and sweetness to her that made you forgive all her bullshit, and when she rebelled it was because she wanted to be with her dad, not “put him in his place” she has canonly stated in the 90′s DWD and comics over and over, that DWD and Drake = her hero.  }}

I’ll talk a bit about this story’s version of Drake here, since I gabbed about the gargoyles in my last post!

I tried to make this human Drake be a mix of the 1991 and the current DT17 version. He’s younger, around 30, but he was never an actor. I’m working with the idea that he might’ve been a beat cop, but became disillusioned with police force when he saw firsthand how corrupt the system was, especially in a place like St. Canard. But he still wants to help, still wants to make a difference, so he creates the persona of Darkwing Duck, inspired by the superhero cartoons he grew up watching/reading about (something similar to the Shadow or Green Hornet). 

Not long after he starts putting numerous big time criminals away, he’s approached by S.H.U.S.H. He grudgingly agrees to work with them because they can provide the things he needs to continue superhero work: a paycheck and resources. 

Through S.H.U.S.H., he gets introduced to other big name heroes like Gizmoduck, Hercules, Selene (and others), and gets roped into joining the Justice Guild, though he’s notoriously bad at showing up to meetings. In the last year alone he’s only attended four of them. 

He’s a lonely guy, but doesn’t really know any other way to be until Gosalyn shows up in his life. And later, Launchpad.

Jim Starling Headcanons!

Since the latest DT17 episode kinda remade Negaduck’s origin, I kinda have to take up Jim Starling and “Classic” Darkwing Duck to play the part too. This will have some tie-in references to the original show, so heads up if you don’t like spoilers of that kind. These are all things before he shifts into Negaduck or apply to some of the AUs that will be placed on that page when done. 

So, he’s probably always been the type of actor that liked doing things on his own to give him a reputation for taking a chance, being risky, or just getting too invested into the role that he plays so he can actually be the character he’s acting as.

His followers on Tweeter are like constantly diminishing with the uprising of things like him not having played as Darkwing Duck in recent years, lost of interest, and either people are going to a real hero like Gizmoduck and just downsize him to being a washed up actor.

In fact, he doesn’t seem to like Gizmoduck, but not to the same extent that the original Drake Mallard (1992 one) did, though that’s due to Jim being an actor and not a real superhero vigilante.

Possibly he could have tried out the superhero gig out for real and then backed out on it due to injuries on his right foot or his beak and neck. Maybe he didn’t have all of the real equipment like he did in the show, but he that doesn’t mean he didn’t go into it like it was Darkwing Duck: Year One.

In doing so, he might have gained a little more of a following because if he was recorded while fighting crime back then, they would have automatically thought it was him. It was really dangerous to try and be a superhero in real life, but Jim just wanted to get back that household name position that he used to have, and at this point, crime fighting was the only way how.

The equipment he had however while in his small lifespan as Darkwing Duck for real was nothing special or flashy, in fact, he just had hook ropes and slingshots to shoot whatever he could use as ammunition against criminals. What he truly relied on to win the day and to save people was his raw strength and his reflexes. They were more refined back then and he was more fit, but as he lost his ability and eventually resolve to be that crimefighter of the night, he lost some of that athletic talent he used to have.

Still, the does not mean that he isn’t strong or durable himself when it comes to taking damage. As probably opposed to Drake Mallard (2017), he is more stronger but slower, using the elbow charge and eyepoke as examples. Think of Jim like New Batman Adventures Batman, strong, but slow with his movements.

Now that he gets most of his money out of showing up to conventions, openings, and presentations, it’s safe to say that he might not be getting much work elsewhere because of his stubbornness and being so consumed in being the role/lead/actor of Darkwing Duck, that he might not know how to get out of that mindset.

Moreover onto his personal life, he really is a guy that kinda loves to hear the sound of his voice, well... he is egotistical, but he managed to keep that ego in check until being met with things that challenged his greatest beliefs at the time. Doesn’t mean that he can’t hold up a conversation though about other things, so he isn’t a complete self-loving guy.

Due to the show and it’s tendency to not have Darkwing Duck work with others  while in combat against villains or foes, he does not take well to being saved, getting help, or having someone else take control of the situation because that’s something he’s been so used to, it’s been etched into his mind that he is the only one to make things right.

His small home is nothing compared to the large house he used to have, so he is making due with what he can even though he has spoiled himself too much during the run of the show, thus making him a little bit of a “self-entitled manchild”. That does not mean that he hasn’t grown up at all, but just hasn’t completely matured in the places that might be necessary.

Starling sleeps a lot whenever he isn’t doing something as he just likes to be off in his dreams, away from the real world. There he can do the things that he would love to do without any real repercussions as it is only in his head, only a dream. You might find him doze out on you if he finds it the right time to ditch the conversation for something more appealing, unless he has to sit through it and actually contribute.

While he’d love to smell good and all, he has to limit what he spends or else he might get evicted from his small home, so that means he doesn’t have a lot of luxuries for himself anymore outside of television, internet, electricity, and water. Any special foods he has to save up for, any new wants take a good while to get the money for and might be gone when he does have the money, and sleeping conditions, well, he needs a new cover and sheets. Maybe some pillow cases too.

Actors au

The au is where the ducktales cast are actors for the ducktales show itself in their universe which their acting for.

Donald, fethry and Gladstone are the original actors of the triplets for the dt87 show and they return to take over the cousin roles.

The dt17 scrooge is a different scrooge from the dt87 as the original had passed. The dt17 scrooge had played as the doctor quack before becoming scrooge.

The dt87 webby is now playing as della duck in the dt17 show.

The new launchpad in the show is the actor that played bubba duck in the dt87.

The new triplets huey, dewey and Louie are young actors that are triplets themselves which are have done minor roles before the show. The other's are helping teach the triplets with mainly Donald as he's become a father figure to the triplets.

I’m probably the only one who’s annoyed that the answer to the Bushroot questions that I’ve been asking for the past two weeks was just...

Portal. A portal that summons the Fearsome Four for some reason. Yippee.

I don’t know what I expected, after all the show has its priorities. Makes me wish for a DWD reboot that comes up with more interesting origins for the Four. 

Guess that’s what the AU Green Thumb is set in is for.

But, whatever, I still like the new Drake and I’ll enjoy him and Gosalyn meeting and becoming family. And whatever Taurus Bulba’s up to. And the chaos the Four cause in St. Canard, and at least Bushroot has a DT17 design (still wondering why he has whiteout eyes), and I’m still wondering who his new voice actor is. I wonder if it’ll sound close to Tino Insana’s, or be something completely different. 

That hour’s going to be insane, that’s for sure.
