So I saw Darren Criss perform live last night in Hobart. It was such an amazing experience, especially since we got second row seats and we didn't have to travel to see him! He performed the songs from Masquerade, Foolish Thing, and I Still Think (which he seemed surprised that people had recordings of because he doesn't think he has any) of his original songs; Somewhere Only We Know, Cough Syrup, and Teenage Dream from Glee; Granger Danger and Goin' Back to Hogwarts with Joey and Lauren; a mashup of a song from How to Succeed and Midnight Radio from Hedwig; a couple of other covers, and finished with an encore of Beauty from Starship and The Day That The Dance Is Over.

I think the highlight for me (of a night of highlights) was The Day That The Dance Is Over. He mentioned that he wrote it with his brother, and it definitely felt like a tribute to him. The first half of the song he sang without microphones or speakers, just his voice and guitar, letting the natural acoustics of the theatre carry the music. At the line 'but I believe there is music in the silence', he motioned to the audience to stay quiet and there was a beautiful time of complete silence as he moved to the piano to finish the song. I'd be willing to bet that everyone was at least teary by the end of the song. I'm so glad that I had a chance to see him perform.

Darren Criss Announces Five-Stop Australian Tour

Darren Criss is set to bring a series of concerts to Australia in September. The performer will bring his own four-piece band to Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra and Sydney to perform the hits he’s become known for throughout his career, spanning everything from “Glee” to Broadway. “Glee” is where Criss first came to prominence, playing Blaine Anderson. From there, he’s been in hits ranging from “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” to the Broadway production “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, where he replaced Daniel Radcliffe. His expansive career has seen him win awards including at the Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. He’s also released music, with his debut EP “Human” debuting at the top of the Billboard Heatseeker chart. His follow-up EP, “Homework” reached No. 7 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. Of his return to Australia, Criss said: “My first show in Australia in 2018 was so much fun and I am looking forward to coming back with my friends and seeing more of the country. We are taking things up a notch for this tour and I can’t wait to see everyone.” Michael Cassel, who brought Criss to Australia in 2018 and is producing his national tour, said: “Darren is a consummate showman and his last concert here sold out in eight minutes resulting in many angry phone calls from his fans to the office. Well, good things come to those who wait and now we are bringing him back for a series of shows all over the country, so no one will have to miss out.” Darren Criss live hits the Adelaide Festival Centre on Sept. 3, Canberra Theatre Centre on Sept. 4, Hamer Hall in Melbourne on Sept. 5, Theatre Royal Hobart on Sept. 7, and wraps up in Sydney’s City Recital Hall on Sept. 11.

#when people tour in australia they go to queensland nsw and/or victoria so i’d need to buy a plane ticket #i would not be able to go on my own so i’d spend the whole time feeling guilty that someone else had to go to see a show they don’t want to #on another note #i’d want to take photos and videos 90% of the time and i have zero phone storage #when i saw darren criss lauren lopez and joey richter i ran out of storage and battery about 2/3 into the show

Slides 6 & 7: A beautiful afternoon cruise through Sydney Harbor with the Michael Cassel team 🛥️ and Sam (@biomassage_official), a marvelous masseuse and beautiful soul! 💫 We we’re treated to a luxury massage w/ Sam and dare I say… it was the beat/most restorative massage if my life? He’s magic 💆🏻‍♂️

After Australia, we had no idea we’d be heading to London a month later and @itsjamielambert & his team carried the torch of this tour to the finish line with magnificent panache! 🔥💥There was stunning pyro 🎇 multiple guests 💃🏻 meet & greets 📸 and we did it TWICE in one day! Tho we had so much less time with them (36 hours!) but I marveled at what they achieved and was honored to work with them 🙏🏼 slide 8 feat. Our fab producer @phoebenoble__ who rocked it all day with us and STILL slayed 👏
