Happy New Year to anyone who follows me on Tumblr! I'm an Australian who lives in Sydney, and LOVES all things Michael Sheen. It's 1:30am 1/1/2024, and I'm not particularly keen on crowds and loud noises so that's why you'll find me typing up this blog instead of celebrating 2024 I confess that if you follow blogs like @ingravinoveritas or @problematicwelshman, I am the Aussie Anon who happened to see Michael Sheen everyday for an entire month at my work. I would share my observations on MS while he was in Sydney to rehearse and perform Amadeus. I also have a selfie to prove it:
Tumblr media
Yes I am under the emoji. I also saw Amadeus 3 times. My last time Anna Lundberg was sitting right behind me, where my friend was game enough to speak to her where I didn't. ANYWAY what brings me here, right now, in this instant on New Years is due to a pretty petty and possibly inane thing that Anna repeatedly did while she was in Sydney, and something she posted just now. She uses the New Zealand flag when referring to anything related to her, and her family's time in Australia. New Years last year:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also her current Insta Story!
Tumblr media
Look, I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of backlash for this, people saying who cares!? However Anna, as someone who is in a relationship with Michael Sheen who is a fierce and proud Welshman, and is the mother of 2 of his children. She should be delicate about using the CORRECT flag that represents a country. ESPECIALLY when in the same breath she mentions an Australian icon which is the Sydney Opera House. The SOH has been the home of Australian Art, Innovation and in a massive way Indigenous Representation (albeit the SOH was designed by a Dutch person) I don't see any excuse for using the wrong flag when referring to Australia. Especially in a world when we're learning more about expression of identity. I don't care if she has baby brain, or thought that New Zealand and Australia were one and the same because they're "Down Under". Or she thinks the flags look the same (they really don't) Or she has no time! It's no excuse to not Educate yourself! Ask questions! Yes we make mistakes but when you're representing yourself and your famous partner, you ought to take care! Yes you're human, and you have emotions, fallacies, but c'mon! You're letting yourself down!
I don't respect the Australian past of colonialism, and I wouldn't expect New Zealand to respect the same. But this flag represents us today as separate nations. Also in no way was Amadeus a duel nation production. I know the producer that's why I was able to see the show 3 times. I am losing so much respect for Anna Lundberg and I try sometimes to give her the benefit of the doubt, because let's be honest she ain't in a loving relationship save for her children, and I think Michael respects her as a friend, and mother, so it can't be easy. But it really begs me to question, how long can he tolerate the lack of self awareness? Lack of awareness in anything but beyond her bubble!? If any one responds to this please be diplomatic and tactful.

And with that, we're done.
youtube
Here we are, people, this is the big one. Arc and Punct present the Queer Reading of Mission Impossible 1. This one is JAMMED PACK and you should really watch the movie for yourself first before listening to this, as we basically give seven TED talks for the duration of the runtime with minimal pauses.
Topics include:
The power of the close perspective of MI (including the proper use of Dutch angles, DePalma's POV shots, and Ethan's hallucinations)
Ethan's long path to leadership, from MI1 to GP
Honeytrap vs honeytrap manipulation, Ethan vs Claire
The anatomy of a non-action hero and the female-coding of Ethan's homme fatale skillset
MI1 as a psychological thriller
Max and Ethan definitely fucked and other times Ethan employs his wiles
The extremely crunchy and uncomfortable dynamic of Ethan, Claire, and Phelps
okay but for real why did Gunther keep the fucking creepy mask all the way to Ghost Protocol?????
youtube
And at last, the victory lap. Our favorite movie, Rogue Nation, the final installment of our series.
Just so much stanning of Christopher McQuarrie, it's absurd
Yet another round of Ethan Hunt and Gender
Arc still hates Alec Baldwin unfortunately
Which is the best Hidden Gun of the Vienna Opera sequence? Vote now on your phones!
TC is correct about the symbolic power of shoes actually
Benji is literally 90% of Ethan's impulse control
Can you spot Ilsa's disappearing trick? Play along at home!
Punct drops the truly incredible wisdom: "Benji is the key to Ethan's lock. Ethan imprints on everyone, but Benji gets everyone to imprint on him."
The full playlist in the intended order is here. Enjoy.

Hetalia Human Names
NOTE: This is my personal interpretation and the names may diverge from canon and established fanon. Also I might update this every so often to make it more accurate, depending on the information I find.
Table of Contents
The Main Characters
Western Europe
Northern Europe
Eastern Europe
Southern Europe
Western Asia
South Asia
East Asia
Southeast Asia
Oceania
Micronations
Former nations
The Main Characters
Italy Veneziano: Feliciano Vergano
I chose the name Vergano instead as it keeps the essense of the original surname, but is actually Italian.
Italy Romano: Lovino Vergano
Germany: Ludwig Beilschmidt
Japan: Kiku Honda
Prussia: Gilbert Beilschmidt
America: Alfred Franklin Jones
I like the headcanon of his middle name being "Freedom", but Franklin is my personal favourite.
England: Arthur James Kirkland
I came across this in a fic a while back and never looked back. This man needs a middle name.
France: Francis Bonnefoy
Russia: Ivan Braginsky
China: Yao Wang
Canada: Matthew Williams
Western Europe
Austria: Roderich Edelstein
Belgium: Laura Janssens
Liechtenstein: Erika Vogel
Luxembourg: Henri Janssens
I've also used the name Gabriel before, but it doesn't seem to be used much in Luxembourg, so Henri would be more fitting.
Monaco: Louise Bonnefoy
The name Louise and it's masculine variant, Louis, appear a few times in the Monaguesque royal family.
Netherlands: Willem Janssens
Willem appears a few times in the Dutch royal family, and it sounds a bit older than other suggested names, which reflects his age and general vibes imo. I really like this name.
Switzerland: Sebastian Zwingli
Personally I see his name "Basch" as a nickname for Sebastian. It's also easy to adapt to his official languages: Sebastian/Sébastién/Sebastiano. The Romansh variant would be Bistgaun, but the archaic version seems to be Bastgaun, which is more similar to Basch. I headcanon that he goes by the name "Basch" in all languages to make it more cohesive.
Northern Europe
Denmark: Mathias Rasmussen
I'm from Scandinavia myself and I don't know if it's widespread, but I've heard people say "all Danish people are named Rasmus" more than once, so I like to incorporate that into his surname.
Estonia: Eduard Kaasik
Around 50% of Estonia is covered in forest, and one of the most common tree types is birch. Kaasik is a common surname and means "birch forest".
Finland: Timo Väinämöinen
Iceland: Eiríkur Steinsson
Steinsson means "son of Stein (given name meaning stone)",. Also Emil isn't traditionally Icelandic, but it's widely used. Personally though, I prefer the name Eiríkur.
Latvia: Raivis Bērziņš
The surname Galante corresponds with the modern Latvian opera singer Inese Galante, but I couldn't find anything to suggest it's commonly used or that it's Latvian at all. Bērziņš is one of the most used Latvian surnames and means "birch tree", like Estonia's surname. Personally, I don't see the Baltics as siblings, but I think this would be a cute reference.
Also, based on what I read, surnames became common in Latvia around the 19th century, with Bērziņš being one of them. Latvia could have picked up whatever the people around him (Estonia) was using and made it his own.
Lithuania: Tolys Laurinaitis
Norway: Sigurd Bondevik
Sweden: Berwald Oxenstierna
Eastern Europe
Belarus: Natalya Arlovskaya
Bulgaria: Mihail Petrov Isporov
Isporov is the family name and is derived from an alternative name of Asparukh, the first king of the First Bulgarian Empire.
Czech: Tereza Novakova
Hungary: Erzsébet Héderváry
Moldova: Marcel Popescu
Poland: Feliks Łukasiewicz
Romania: Vladislav Popescu
Slovakia: Jozef Novak
Ukraine: Iryna Chernenko
Southern Europe
Greece: Herakles Karpusi
Portugal: João Silva Ferreira
Spain: Antonio Fernandez Carriedo
Western Asia
Cyprus: Stasinos Karpusi
Stasinos was one of the first European poets who wrote the epic poem Cypria.
Turkey: Sadiq Adnan
TRNC: Tarkan Adnan
South Asia
India: Rajesh Thakur
East Asia
Hong Kong: Leon Wang / Wong Kulung
Macau: Chen Wang
South Korea: Im Yong-soo
Taiwan: Mei Lin
Southeast Asia
Thailand: Prasert Chakri
Vietnam: Lien Nguyen
Africa
Cameroon: Emmanuel Mawdo Ahidjo
Many of the most commonly used forenames in Cameroon are of French or English origins, such as Emmanuel.
Mawdo means ‘elder’ in Fulfulde.
Ahidjo refers to the first president of Cameroon.
Egypt: Gupta Muhammad Hassan
Seychelles: Michelle Mancham
Americas
Cuba: Carlos Machado Rodríguez
Oceania
Australia: Daniel Kirkland
New Zealand: Zachary Kirkland
Micronations
Hutt River: Christopher Kirkland
Kugelmugel: Leopold Edelstein
Ladonia: Erland Oxenstierna
Molossia: Jacob Jones
"JJ" :)
Sealand: Peter Kirkland
Seborga: Romeo Vergano
Okay listen. I have no explaination, I just really like this name. Also, if the names of the trio is Peter, Wendy, and Romeo, they're all named after characters from literature. I think that's fun.
Wy: Wendy Kirkland
Former Nations
Ancient Egypt: Neferure
References the only biological child of Hatshepsut.
Ancient Greece: Helene
Ancient Rome: Marcus Valerius Maximus
Marcus is the praenomina (given name) and refers to how Romulus and Remus were said to have been twins of Mars, the god.
Valerius is the nomen gentilicium (hereditary name) and means “to be strong”.
Maximus is the cognomen and means “the greatest”.
Germania: Alaric
Holy Roman Empire: Otto Beilschmidt
Personally I like the idea that HRE and Germany aren't the same person, but share the same body.

Te Deum from Puccini's TOSCA by Gevorg Hakobyan | Dutch National Opera, directed by Lorenzo Viotti (2022)
Personally not my favorite take on Scarpia's state of mind in this scene, but the production is so incredible that anything is acceptable tbh like. Look at THAT!! Okay!!

The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb
It has been called the first masterpiece of the Renaissance, the forefather of artistic realism, and the first major oil painting (though that last claim is dubious, since oil paints were in use in Asia as early as the 7th century). In the last five centuries, it has been involved in seven separate thefts and is possibly the most stolen work in art history (the bottom left panel has never been recovered, a reproduction now stands in its place). It’s Jan van Eyck’s Adoration of the Mystic Lamb A.K.A. The Ghent Altarpiece. Rather, it’s the comprehensive treatment of The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb printed and published in 1964 by Arti Grafiche Ricordi of Milan, under the auspices of the Belgian National Commission for UNESCO.
The text is by Valentin Denis, a Belgian professor of Archeology and Art History, and translated into English from the French by Michael Langley. Arti Grafiche Ricordi had also published the original French edition in 1963, as well as an Italian translation the same year. A Dutch-language edition was published in 1964 in Amsterdam by Bonaventura, an imprint of Elsevier (both names an homage to the lauded Dutch House of Elzevir). Despite the change in publisher, the Dutch edition maintains the same design that is consistent across all three of the Ricordi editions. The plates are printed in full-color letterpress halftone on wood veneer laminated to carboard. The first plate is a fold-out triptych, allowing readers to view the entire altarpiece, both open and closed. The following 24 plates focus on the panels, showing individual panels in their entirely and also honing in on details, such as the extreme close up of the background flora and architecture on the upper left corner of the central panel (eighth image above).
Arti Grafiche Ricordi was the graphic design arm of Casa Ricordi, founded in 1808 by the violinist Giovanni Ricordi and predominantly known as a publisher of classical music and opera. The publishing house came to prominence by developing privileged relationships with major 19th-century Italian composers like Rossini, Verdi, and later, Puccini. The firm maintained full family control, with four generations of Ricordi’s at the helm, for over a century, and remains a major name in classical music publishing (now as a subsidiary of Universal Music Group). But Arti Grafiche Ricordi has its own influential past in Italian graphic design. Giulio, the third Ricordi to lead the firm, first bolstered the Officine Grafiche, hiring as the creative director the German Adolfo Hohenstein in 1888. Hohenstein and Officine Grafiche would go on to train the bulk of the first generation of great Italian poster designers.

We got a super Thursday this year bigger than any of the super Saturdays lol. So much happened! I needed some time to gather my thoughts
First of all, I love that we have another nonbinary artist this year! Musically The Code reminds me of Jann in Emperor's New Clothes. I like how dynamic the song is, the opera merged with other genres (which I'm always a sucker for) and on top of that, the message!! The only thing is I always cringe at the line with ammonites... Can't have everything. This will be high in my ranking for sure. The question remains, will they be able to pull those notes live?
UK... I believed until the end, even after those snippets. The huge names (Olly and Danny) only raised the expectations. This is incredibly monotonous and lacks any climax. In a weaker year it could place like 10th in my ranking, not this time. A lot of wasted potential here :/ I still have hope for a redeeming staging since I've seen what Olly's capable of at the Brit Awards in 2021.
Not a crazy fan of We Will Rave. Everywhere around me I keep hearing oohs and aahs and because of that I just can't warm up to that song. Somehow I strongly feel about what staging would fit and which would break that song for me. Based on Kaleen's vibes I think she will go for the latter, sadly.
Cyprus scores surprisingly high this year in my ranking, considering what kind of song this is. Usually I stay indifferent towards upbeat girl pop. Idc what happened this time, I like the melodies and Silia's positive energy in the mv is just contagious.
And last but not least, my one of a kind funky Dutch man 🥹 I am absolutely in love with everything he does. While watching the premiere I immediately spotted that Europapa doesn't go as hard as his other songs, which I did expect. (Ok, the exception is that gabber(?) moment.) I get he might have done this to appeal to the wider audience but somehow it still feels very authentic to him as an artist and that is what counts in the end. The first part immediately brings to mind Samaa taviasta katsotaan, even Poland got mentioned. Maybe I shouldn't be comparing so much but I swear those are all compliments. I love both Emperor's New Clothes and Samaa...
The "Europe without borders" message speaks to me on a very personal level. It awakened the Europatriotic side of me, which I feel I might have unconsciously shut down some time ago due to the worsening political situation (both in Poland and throughout Europe) and people writing that view off as idealistic and naive. Idk whether I'm interpreting it right, but especially the picture of the burning cluster of buildings(?) as a symbol of the current political (but also environmental!!) situation on the continent hit me hard.
Generally, I find it insane how a Dutch rapper makes me feel more towards the place I live in than an entire lifetime that I spent learning about Polish history, martyrdom and a predefined meaning of what it means to be a "good patriotic Pole" being imposed on me by people whose national identity was shaped long before we entered the EU. I think that's a generational divide, but the worst thing is that those people are more and more power-hungry and not willing to give up that power when the time comes. Right now they are only reinforcing their positions and digging divides deeper than ever to control the nation
So yes, I am crying but not because of the dad situation (I sympathize wholeheartedly but can't relate) but rather my very personal relation to patriotism and the mill of thoughts Joost kickstarted in my head. This song awakes some deep deposits of feelings I was only partially aware I had, expect more thinking out loud in text on here.
Now, thanks for coming to my ted talk, if anyone even reached the end <3

A Guide to the Anastasia Productions
Hartford - The show’s month long pre-Broadway trial in Hartford, Connecticut from May 13 2016 to June 2016.
Broadway - The show ran on Broadway from March 23 2017 to March 31 2019. Previews ended and shows open to the public on April 24 2017. The show performed at the Broadhurst Theatre. The book, libretto, blocking, and design were all slightly adjusted after the show moved from Hartford to Broadway and all subsequent productions have used the Broadway changes.
Madrid, Spain - The Madrid production ran from October 10 2018 to March 7 2020, when performances were suspended due to covid. The announcement that the show would not reopen was made in September. The show was performed at the Coliseum Theatre in Spanish.
First National Tour - The first North American tour ran from October 12 2018 to March 12 2020, when performances were suspended due to covid. The first version of the tour never reopened.
Stuttgart, Germany - The Stuttgart production ran from November 15 2018 to October 13 2019. It performed at the Stage Palladium Theatre in German.
The Hague, Netherlands - The Dutch production ran from September 22 2019 to March 23 2020, when performances were suspended due to covid. The announcement that the show would not reopen was made in April. It performed at the AFAS Circustheatre and was managed by Stage Entertainment. Because it was located in the Scheveningen district of The Hague, it is sometimes referred to as the Scheveningen production. It was performed in Dutch.
Tokyo, Japan - The Japan production was meant to be a tour, with performances in both Tokyo and Osaka, however the Osaka performances were cancelled due to covid. The production ran in Tokyo from March 9 2020 to March 27 2020, with only 14 performances. The theatre was the Theatre Orb and it was performed in Japanese.
Takarazuka Japanese Tour - The Takarazuke production was a non-replica produced by Takarazuka Revue with an all female cast in Japanese. It performed shows in both Takarazuka and Tokyo. It ran at the Takarazuka Grand Theatre from November 7 2020 to December 14 2020, and at the Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre from January 8 2021 to February 21 2021.
Second National Tour - The second North American tour began when the first tour reopened on October 15 2021, however because this tour was non-equity with an entirely new cast it is considered an entirely different tour.
Malmö, Sweden - The Swedish production ran from September 2 2022 to November 12 2022 in Swedish. It was a non-replica performed at the Malmö Opera, and so is usually referred to as the Malmö Opera production.
Tampere, Finland: The Finnish production began on September 2 2022. It is a non-replica production that is performing at Tampere Theatre in Finnish.
Linz, Austria: The Austrian production began on September 10 2022. It is a non-replica production that is performing at the Landestheatre in German.
São Paulo, Brazil: The Brazil production began on November 9 2022. It is performed in Portuguese, at the Renault Theatre, and is produced by T4F and Caradiboi.
Mexico City, Mexico: A Mexican production is set to open in 2023 at the Teatro Telcel, produced by OCESA Teatro.
There have also been announced an Australian production and a Russian production, though those were both announced before the pandemic so plans may have changed.
