Big Bug Appreciation Post! (1/2)
For anyone who’s been on my blog, or has interacted with me, it’s no surprise I’m a bug enthusiast. But I don’t think I’ve ever made an official bug appreciation post, and there are a lot of bugs in my state that I think are super neat, so I wanted to briefly talk about them here. Not all of them will be insects though.
Unfortunately, I won’t be putting in any isopods or roaches because my state doesn’t have a whole lot of those guys that I would consider “particularly special.” But just note that I do appreciate isopods and roaches, and think that they have a great impact on their natural environments.
Anyway, onto the bugs!
Blue-Winged Wasp
Tumblr media
These babes usually hang out in the dog fennel near my yard, and I think they’re very pretty wasps. Their wings are an iridescent blue (hence the name), and their yellow spots are quite cute. They're also relatively chill, so you can stand pretty close to them and they wouldn’t care.
2. Common Paper Wasp
Tumblr media
They’re everywhere, but I’d be lying if I said they weren’t pretty either. I think that they have a really neat color palette and super cool pattern to them. I’ve had personal experience with them, and I’ve always made sure that when I went on my balcony, that I didn’t present as a threat to them. Overall, I enjoyed sitting with these pretty critters.
3. Giant Leopard Moth
Tumblr media
They look like snow leopards! Ironically enough, similar to how snow leopards are closely related to tigers, leopard moths are closely related to tiger moths (in fact, they’re in the same family). I raised one of these guys. His name was Napoleon, and he was the fanciest little guy 🩵.
4. Amber Snail
Tumblr media
It’s usually stated online that amber snails are a pretty rare species. So I think it was pretty neat how I once found five or six on my mom’s calla lilies. They’re very tiny and very adorable, ‘nuff said.
5. Golden Sill Orb Weaver
Tumblr media
A huge species of orb weaver that I think is absolutely gorgeous. These gals can get big, and I mean BIG. But no matter the size, it’s always a treat to see them during walks into the woods.
6. Agapostemon Sweat Bee
Tumblr media
Agapostemon is actually just a genus of sweat bee, and I’ve personally come across at least two species. All I really need to say about these guys is that they’re metallic green bees, and the ones that live near my house are surprisingly mega chill (I still wouldn’t hold one tho lol).
7. Bee Fly
Tumblr media
Maybe not as cute as their Japanese relatives, but they’re still whimsical little fairy creatures that I would absolutely pet in a heartbeat (if given the chance).
8. Flatback Millipede
Tumblr media
I just wanted to bring up how metal I think these guys are. 10/10, absolutely fire little guys 🔥🔥🔥.
9. Eastern Pondhawk
Tumblr media
They’re everywhere in the local pond and I love them. They’re one of my favorite examples of dimorphism because of how cool the females look (they’re the green ones). But sometimes it can be hard to distinguish a male and a female because younger males are more green. Still, they’re cool bugs.
10. Violet Dancer
Tumblr media
In my opinion, one of the prettiest species of damselflies. I’ve encountered one of these before (at a swamp). They’re just as vibrant as in the pictures 💜.
11. Ebony Jewelwing
Tumblr media
Another beautiful damselfly! This time, on a larger scale. These can also be found in swamps, and their metallic green color is super cool.
12. Swallowtails (Just in General)
Tumblr media
(Pipevine Swallowtail in the picture)
Swallowtails are my state’s official butterfly, and the reason for that is pretty simple: They’re literally everywhere. The most common is the Eastern Tiger, but there are other species, such as: The Black Swallowtail, Zebra Swallowtail, Pipevine Swallowtail, and probably even more. Another neat thing about them is that they’re in the same family as the world’s largest butterfly species: The Queen Alexandra’s Birdwing. So there’s some fun lil trivia for ya 👍.
13. Golden Northern Bumblebee
Tumblr media
They’re very friend-shaped, and also very big. In fact, some of them can get bigger than carpenter bees. They don’t visit very often, but I really like them.
14. Variegated Fritillary
Tumblr media
A very close relative of the gulf fritillary. In fact, I found caterpillars of both species eating passion vine together.
Tumblr media
You can usually tell them apart pretty easily since Variegated caterpillars are lined with white dots. Also, fun fact: Their spines are non-stinging and completely harmless in general.
15. Larger Elm Leaf Beetle
Tumblr media
Super friend-shaped, and extremely lightweight (you will barely feel them on your hand). They're pretty easy to handle since they’re very docile. But they’re considered pests to certain plants, so they’re not very liked by gardeners.
16. Golden Tortoise Beetle
Tumblr media
Also friend-shaped, but very tiny and super skittish. One really interesting thing about them is that their larvae use their own feces as a shield. So, yeah, that’s a thing that they do.
17. Imperial Moth
Tumblr media
A close relative of the Luna Moth (they’re in the same family). They might not be the most extravagant moths, but they have a rustic charm to them, and they remind me of bananas. Also, they’re fluffy, so they’re automatically cute.
18. Pink-Striped Oakworm Moth
Tumblr media
A much smaller relative of the Luna Moth (also in the same family). These babes are nocturnal and absolutely adorable.
19. Antlion
Tumblr media
Despite being shaped like a damselfly, these fellas are more closely related to lacewings and mantidflies. You may recognize their name, and that’s because the most notable thing about antlions is their larvae (also called “doodlebugs”).
Tumblr media
Y’know, these silly lil guys. The ones that make pit traps to eat their favorite food: Ants. They're funky. I love them.
20. Spring Fishfly
Tumblr media
I just think they’re cool. They come from water.
21. Woolly Apple Aphid
Tumblr media
Adorable, fluffy, whimsical fairy creatures. I had the pleasure of holding one once. You can’t even feel them on your finger.
22. Red Velvet Ant/ Cow Killer
Tumblr media
Despite her name, she’s not actually an ant. She’s a type of wasp in the family Mutilidae, where females are wingless. These wasps (specifically the males) are called “cow killers” because of a myth that said their stings were so powerful, they could kill a cow. This isn’t true tho.
23. Crane Fly
Tumblr media
They look like giant mosquitoes, but fear not! They won’t hurt you! In fact, one of their nicknames is “mosquito eater.” But they don’t actually eat mosquitoes. At least, the adults don’t. They don’t even have the proper mouthparts to do that. Instead, Crane Flies feed on nectar, which makes them minor pollinators. So while they can get everywhere once they spawn, they’re not actually that big of a problem. And they’re super frail, so please be gentle if you want to hold them🤎.
24. Two-Spotted Longhorn Bee
Tumblr media
Absolutely adorable! They don’t visit very often, but when they do, they like to visit the sage in the garden. I usually find them frequently the same plants as the Leafcutter bees.
25. Giant Water Bug
Tumblr media
One of the coolest dudes ever. You’ll always find them anywhere wet, but please know that they can get BIG. They won’t charge after you, but they will bite if they feel threatened, and it will hurt. I’ve encountered these funky guys before, and I just admire them from a good distance.
26. Promachus Robber Flies
Tumblr media
Promachus is also just a genus of robber fly (I don’t know how many species live in my state tho). I just think they look cool. And they’re good for pest control 👍.
27. Common Checkered Skipper
Tumblr media
Cute little babies that are slightly blue. I have one in my bug collection.
28. Long-Tailed Skipper
Tumblr media
Another cute little baby. And also blue! These things are pretty common in the garden, and I’m always happy to see them.
Reached the image count limit. I’ll post the second part in a bit.

This is more or less a WIP of Liliths Bio in HxH as i’m debating what other trivia stuff to add :v

Name: Lilith Alecto Necroshade
Aliases: The Shadow Weaver
Age: 35
Birthday: 31st October 1987
Gender: Female
Height: 8’8
Weight: 350 pounds
Appearance: Lilith commands attention with her imposing stature, standing tall at 8’8”. Her presence is both striking and enigmatic, reflecting her dark and powerful nature. Her long, dark scarlet red hair falls in waves, reminiscent of blood-stained silk, framing her face with a big side fringe. It's partially curly in certain parts and very curly and long at the back, reaching the midpoint of her back. Her eyes, a piercing crimson, gleam with mystique and power, accentuated by subtle black markings resembling veins under her eyes. Five blood moon red spider eyes adorn her forehead, adding an otherworldly allure. Her pale anti-flash white skin contrasts starkly with her dark features. Black markings decorate her face, adding to her mysterious aura, while charcoal black tints adorn her hands and feet, with her hands having a blood-moon red tint at the ends of her fingers. Ebony black sharp demon horns grace her head, exuding a regal and formidable presence. Mandibles with black pincers tipped in blood-moon color add to her menacing appearance. Her body is adorned with various tattoos symbolizing her connection to magic and darkness, visible on her back, arms, and front. Her ears are a unique combination of demon, Gerudo, and siren styles, with black webbing between the spikes. Her lips, painted in captivating black cherry, draw attention to her enigmatic smile. Adding to her allure, subtle siren scales appear all over her skin under moonlight, while Twili markings along her arms are visible only at night. Her body features a tail inspired by Striker and Charlie from Hellaverse, with a chocolate cosmos base, a platinum blade tip, and a blood moon red heart at the center, surrounded by chocolate kisses colored spikes. Her impressive spider-leg Wyvern wings, composed of eerie black bones and dark cherry red webbing, grant her a haunting and ethereal presence. She has a stitch along her mouth and across her neck to resemble her origins and where she came from. Additionally, she possesses a long dark sienna tongue that is extremely long, as well as fangs having a combination of varied species, adding to her formidable appearance.
Personality: To her enemies she can be cold and calculative with a slight hint of cunning and sultry but when it comes to people she genuinely cares about, she is kind and protective whilst also being caring and sometimes shy when it comes to her crush but that is super rare of her. |History|
Lilith's early life was marked by tragedy and persecution. Born into a small town in 1987, her mother, a talented witch, fell victim to a wave of hysteria reminiscent of the Salem Witch Trials that started in 2002. Accused of practicing dark magic and consorting with supernatural beings, she was unjustly sentenced to be burned at the stake. As a young child, Lilith had to bear witness to this horrific event, which left a lasting impact on her. But the torment didn't end there. Lilith's unique heritage and emerging powers made her a target of fear and prejudice among her peers. She was subjected to relentless bullying, enduring both physical and verbal abuse. Rocks were thrown at her, insults hurled, and she was ostracized from her community. The cruelty she experienced as a child was a catalyst for her decision to flee her hometown, seeking solace and a place where she could belong.
Driven by a strong determination to embrace her true self and find her purpose, Lilith embarked on a solitary journey. She roamed the world, exploring hidden realms and studying ancient arts. Along her path, she encountered mentors who recognized her potential and nurtured her abilities. Under their guidance, she honed her skills in dark magic and necromancy, becoming a formidable practitioner. The hardships she endured, from witnessing her mother's tragic fate to enduring the persecution of her peers, shaped Lilith into a complex individual. Her experiences have instilled within her a burning desire for justice and the strength to stand against oppression. Now, as a powerful necromancer, she seeks to uncover the truth behind her mother's persecution and to protect those who suffer from prejudice and discrimination in the supernatural realm.
Amidst her descent into darkness,Lilith's path intersected with that of the Phantom Troupe. Drawn to their enigmatic leader and their mission to defy societal norms, Lilith saw an opportunity to align herself with a group that shared her desire for justice and power. With her formidable skills and unwavering determination, she proved herself to be a valuable asset to the Troupe, earning her place among their ranks as a fearsome enforcer and powerful ally. Thus, Lilith became a member of the Phantom Troupe, embracing her role as a formidable villain.
|Trivia|
She learns others abilities and skills through observation as she is a very fast learner and can adapt to any situation.
She fears fires used in a more threaten way - this is because of her mothers passing/torture to death as she doesn’t want to die the same way she did.
She enjoys meditating in the dark and reading/listening to occult stories and learning more things about the darkness.
She is a liquor chic more than a wine chic
She does swear a lot - especially if things don't go her way.
Her language and species are unknown making her more unique to everyone else in a way.
Her birth sign is Scorpio
She is bisexual and polyamorus as she prefers her relationships to be that way however if she is drawn to only one individual - she’ll stick to them.
She can hiss like a snake and purr like a big cat - depending on which she feels like.
She has special vision that allows her to spot her target/prey which can detect heartbeats especially from fear.
She is super Voluptuous and slightly muscular - Both top and bottom heavy with thicc thighs that save lives 💅🏻
(Will draw her in her outfit soon so hope you enjoy!)

What would Leonelle's throne room decor be like?
Anon, I apologise. This question got yeeted to my Shadow Realm in December and even then I'm p. sure I've had this question sitting in my inbox before that. I'm properly embarassed lmao.
I imagine it's a mix of River Kingdoms' function and Cheliax form. She is a ruler of the River Kingdoms now, after all, and I imagine a lot of the core redesigns of the Stag Lord's old den have the architecture and interior design common in the River Kingdoms in mind rather than Chelish. I think part of her likes the rustic charm, but she also wants the creature comforts and stylistic choices of her homeland.
A lot of deep, Chelish red. Heavy fabrics that look Chelish but made by weavers and other artisans in the Stolen Lands. For all of Leonelle's...questionable ruling, she is a big supporter of the artisans and crafters in the Stolen Lands and encourages her court to do the same. For example, she personally sponsors Mim Wobblegander - the jeweller and Sharel, the tailor (and they work together on a lot of her gowns and jewels for formal appearances and such), while Jaethal and Octavia both sponsor Tirval, the leatherworker, and Regongar is often eager to try out Varrask's work.
So in short, any of the artisans working in the Stolen Lands, whether they're the named ones like the ones who can grant you masterworks or the average craftsman, have definitely put their time and care into her throne room. She wants it to be a celebration of both what she loves about Cheliax and her new domain, and to see her kingdom have an artistic renaissance - gaining Pitax and the academy remaining open under Annamede were huge wins for her.
The only thing that'd feel super extra is well. A throne inlaid with rubies and obsidian in ebony wood. Plenty of silk pillows for the royal behind to remain comfortable too.
(As an aside, Leonelle being a big sponsor of the arts means the only real times she doesn't necessarily let her advisors do what they want is in matter of culture, and I imagine if she had been an NPC / companion, she'd be a very good choice for the Curator position - certainly it'd be the one she'd be most interested in.)

CHARACTER HISTORY
It came as a surprise when Penelope started showing signs of possessing magic, but her parents welcomed it openly. They encouraged her to dive into that side as soon as possible and age 11 would be when she first stepped foot into the magical realm.
The brunette was eager to learn, soon developing a love for quidditch beyond academics though she wasn’t the best player. She was better as a fan, betting on the outcomes of each match. Most of her early years were spent in different corners of the library, her social life wouldn’t begin until she finally started schooling at Aurelius.
She often found her brain wandering during potions, diving deeper into certain spells to daydream about what the slightest changes in ingredients could alter in each recipe. The why didn’t seem important at first, but once it came time to choose a specialization everything clicked when alchemy called her name. Bending the rules at her will to test her intelligence and give herself the edge to stand out from the crowd was a perfect match and now in her 5th year she hasn’t looked back. In her spare time she likes to experiment with a different kind of creation, edible dishes she can share with her friends as well as snacks to keep her company in the quidditch stands.
Lately Penelope has been searching for more beyond the four walls surrounded by books, maybe what she’s looking for will appear when she least expects it — you never know in a world of magic.

Day 11: Once Bitten, Twice Shy
Cuteness beats caution.
“Rhalgr’s arse, this mythril sand isn’t cheap. Do I have to become a miner on top of everything else?”
Joceline knows the answer even as she asks the question. She became a weaver to earn extra gil, and then she became a botanist in order to track down the flax she needs for her linen. Now she’s an alchemist, too, because felt, which fetches a better price than wool, is made with natron. Rock salt is loads cheaper than natron, but whenever it’s time to craft another bottle of ink, she’s at the mercy of the marketboard again. Even so, her Scion job is her first priority. And she’s promised to help work on the Dezul Qualan, and to help the 789th Dig not die, and to help explore the Syrcus Trench…
Maybe if there were two or three of her, she could become a miner. But not now.
“Mew!”
There’s a gentle pressure on her leg. When Joceline looks down, she sees a coeurl kitten trying to get her attention. The frustrated pout instantly leaves her face.
“The markets are busy today, aren’t they? Did you lose your owner?” She crouches and-
Wait a tick. Hasn’t she been here before?
Well, she’s been in the Ebony Stalls loads of times, but the Highlander remembers visiting the Gold Saucer, saving a chocobo chick, and then heading for Minion Square, where she saw an adorable black coeurl kitten. When she started to pet it, it bit her.
But that was a different minion, part of her says. It’s the same part of her that thought it would be a good idea to try making anole steak with mushrooms (it wasn’t), and that because she’d become a dragoon, she’d be just fine jumping to the bottom of Camp Drybone (she wasn’t).
The kitten mews again. It’s started to play with a loose string on the apron Joceline wears when she’s crafting.
Rhalgr’s arse, she can’t help it!
“Aww, you’re so soft! You can stay with me as long as you like, and we can look for your owner together- Yeoooowch! Godsdammit!”

7 Days in Bali : Day 4
Aloha Bali Swing, Kintamani , Wood Cuffing and Luwak Coffee Plantation
Hey guys
After breakfast, we checked out of Maya and our guide took us to Aloha Bali Swing. They asked us to fill a sheet and write our name, weight, and who they should call in case of emergency. After filling the sheet, we went to the first swing, the libra swing. It had two beautiful swings, covered with artificial flowers, which made it look the most attractive of all. Also to mention, Aloha Bali swing was pretty safe, so you don't need to worry about falling down. The had railings and something similar to a seatbelt. The libra swing doesn't swing. It takes you to the spot with the nice background and the photographers take a picture. Next was the tandem swing, which two people sit in. Me and my dad took a picture over there and went to the next swing, the famous bali swing. I had a go first, and it was obviously the most thrilling. There was an Adrenaline swing, but we were scared of getting hurt, so we went to the next one, which wasn't a swing. It looked like the nest of a weaver bird. There was another nest similiar to that. Then we bought pictures and went to this room which was kinda like a fairy garden (with statues of fairies). We also took pictures with these two swans and left. Our next spot was the Luwak Coffee Plantation. They not only grew Luwak Coffee, but also grew Arabica coffee, teas like Mangosteen tea, Rosella tea, Lemongrass tea, Lemon tea, they grew other types of coffee like Avocado Coffee, Bali Coffee and Coconut Coffee, and they grew cocoa/hot chocolate, turmeric water, and Sweet potato chips. She explained about how Luwak Coffee was made, by giving coffee beans to Luwak, and taking the seeds from its poop (which, in my opinion, is disgusting) and crushing it to make Luwak Coffee powder. Since we are vegetarians, we couldn't taste Luwak Coffee, but tasted many other teas like Mangosteen tea, Rosella tea, and Lemongrass tea. We also tasted Avocado Coffee, Coconut Coffee, and Bali Coffee. When we were going to go home, we bought Avocado Coffee, Mangosteen tea, Rosella Tea, Lemongrass tea, and sweet potato chips. Then, we went to a hotel from which we could take a photo with mount batur at the background. After taking the photo, we ate food and bought a bicycle with made in bali written on it. It wasn't a real bicycle, just a very small one for showcase. That was the end of the Kintamani tour. At last, we went to wood cuffing, where he showed us many types of wood like Hibiscus wood, and ebony wood. Everything was quite expensive, so we didn't buy anything. At last, we checked into our hotel, Mara River Safari lodge, which was connected with bali safari park. We went on one of the animal safaris(which I will further explain in the next post). Although, the room was pretty uncomfortable at night as the bed made a creaking sound, and there were lizards on the walls. Although, this day was not so tiring as the others, as it was quite peaceful and the tour ended early.
On the next post, I will be talking about Bali Safari park.
Comment down what you think about my blog, and I am free to answer any queries you have about bali.

FILIPINO CRAFTSMANSHIP  - THE ART OF TRADITIONAL WEAVING
Tumblr media
Over the first few years, the traditional art of weaving has made it into the news. The Philippines, a country with a rich and long history in traditional silk weaving and production has grabbed the spotlight. Even today, the stilt houses of Philippine villages are remembered for their traditional wooden looms.
In general, the art of silk weaving is practised mainly by women and eventually this tradition is passed on to the daughter by her mother. Unfortunately, as we are moving towards modernisation and digitization, and the skill set of this traditional art is ruthlessly diminishing. Currently, silk weavers are abandoning their craft and moving toward city life in order to seek a livelihood.
At inabel shop, we have taken a positive and progressive step toward the preserving and reviving of skilled art. This is to uplift the spirit of traditional silk weavers and bring their mastery and technique to present before the world.
In this blog, we will help you understand the 'not so easy to master' - the art of silk weaving.
Silk Production Process –
The Philippine process of manufacturing silk-based products is available from the most affordable ones to the most luxury and premium ones. Some of the products are made from the rare Golden silk while the others are developed using regional silk sources. The lack of expansion and the neglect of mulberry plantation has been the major reason for a significant decline in the production of Philippine native Golden silk. The majority of silk used in the Philippines is imported from either China or other nearby countries.
The rainy season is the ideal duration for the production of Golden silk. As the name suggests, golden silk is known for its lustrous natural golden colour, durability and strength. The process of silk development begins with the rearing of silkworms that takes one month to grow. The spinning of the cocoon takes place for 3 days and once done, they are then placed in hot water, this kills the larvae and advances to the next stage of production.
The raw outer silk (uneven texture, used for the manufacturing of clothes, furnishings, and accessories) and the fine inner silk (fine texture) are the two layers of the cocoon. No dying will be entertained to bring out the natural golden yellow colour of the thread.
Dying –
The process of dying the threads is carried out through  a number of techniques and then these are set through various designs. Most of the time the dyes are derived from nature, plant extracts mainly bark and the leaves.
These days, the technique of resisting dyeing of the silk thread is determined through a predetermined pattern that is prior to weaving. In some of the other techniques of resist dyeing, the resist is applied to the woven cloth and for others, it is applied to the threads before they are woven into cloth.
There are specific places where the ties are applied and this way the dye will not colour that portion of the thread. When the correct time of dyeing will approach, the thread spools are placed in clay pots full of natural dye and water. Red, red over-dyed with indigo to give purple, indigo, maroon, yellow, and yellow over-dyed with indigo to give green and blue are a few of the traditional colours used by the silk weavers. In addition to these, the orange colour is created from annatto seeds, grey tones from ebony fruit, yellow from jackfruit, and red colour from the nest of the lac insect are used.
Once the process of dyeing is over, the thread bundles are then hung up to dry. In order to complete the pattern, the resist material is replaced by a new one and the same thread is used to carry out the second phase of dyeing in a different colour. To accomplish the desired pattern, the step is repeated a number of times to give a range of coloured products that the weaver will require to craft out.
Once the cycles of dyeing are finished, the resist bindings will then be removed and the threads will then advance to the process of cloth weaving.
Spinning –
Once the process of resist dyeing is completed, the bundle of dyed silk will then be advanced on a swift to form bobbins. In order to obtain a regular and twisted thread by hand, it is essential to add on a great level of concentration and thereby dexterity. The silk is collected slowly and then gathered into a thicker, larger thread. The bobbins will then be inserted into shuttles and will then be used to weave the final product.
Weaving –
Wooden looms are generally one metre in width and 3 meters in length. The process of weaving is carried out through the hand and after the cotton or silk threads are derived out on the loom. The set-up of the loom may require an entire day. The Philippine output is quite distinctive because of the thread visibility on the front side of the fabric.
The entire process of fabric and cloth preparation requires expertise and dexterity. The entire process takes place to take place between 1 and 3 months, and back to depending on the complexity of the design.
If you are interested in pure silk then we at inabel shop will help you get the most authentic, attractive, and affordable quality silk accessories and clothing.
