I think the thing I was looking forward to the most about Season 3 was just seeing Ed and Stede be a couple. Uninterrupted. No torture, no regretful nights, no running off to be a fisherman. I just wanted to see them be left alone. Even if it was just for a single episode! And we would have gotten that, I think. I wanted to see casual PDA and loving looks, things that we got in both seasons but they would be different because Stede and Ed are actually, really, officially together. They're boyfriends! I'll miss that just as much as seeing their proposal and wedding. Just feeling sad today.

I really hope we'll be able to see all this in the future. I'm willing to be patient for the right time 😊

“I’ve got good news and bad”

No, you have bad. Bad news. No need to sugarcoat it.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t feel like we were being given hope that renewal was imminent. Which is not to slam David or Samson or literally anyone else that even hinted at season 3; it’s very very possible this is just as blindsiding to them as it is us. I’m not blaming them at all. This is almost certainly the fault of some shitty executive(s).

I was never on the “season 2’s ending was good enough in case they don’t renew” train because that’s not the ending. Not only did I feel unsatisfied by it anyways, but I could never feel satisfied when I know there’s more story to be told. This isn’t a case of a show dragging on for way too long; this is a creator having a simple three season vision and being denied the ability to carry it out.

I can’t say I’m surprised, because this show has been treated like shit ever since Discovery took over, but they doesn’t make it feel any better.

Oh, and I don’t care what anyone says: I’m 100% chalking this up to homophobia.

Don't usually give that much thought to actors at these times, but I'm genuinely gutted for Rhys. He really seemed to love his role as Stede and waited so long to get a proper leading part like this, only to not even be allowed to finish the story. I hope someone offers him the job of his dreams next, whatever that may be.
