dean's kinda right for calling sam a selfish bastard in 1x11 because like, in this instance sam insisting they do what HE wants very much WILL result in two people getting killed. like it's a certainty. if they turn around and head to california two innocent people WILL die.

while they're driving and discussing the case they figure out the window for these disappearances is consistent across the board: second week of april. then sam say this is the second week of april.

sam sums up the gist of it, john's sending them there to save this next couple before they vanish. this job isn't just about hunting some monster or spirit in the area that may attack, the attack is certain. the pattern has been consistent for years. it's very likely another couple will disappear / die. and it's already the second week, there's no wiggle room, no space to pause and come back to this case later.

still, sam insists on dropping the case and heading to california. the demon and getting revenge is more important to him right now than saving lives.

dean says, this is important. saving lives is important. and sam says he understands, but his next statement shows he really really doesn't. because he says "I'm talking one week here...to get revenge." ONE WEEK is exactly the amount of time you don't have. Letting this case sit for one week will ensure that another couple dies. Revenge can wait. John can wait. It's been over six months at this point without word from John. Now that they know generally where he is, it can wait. One week won't change much on that front.

so, i mean, dean IS kinda right. sam IS being selfish in this moment (and stubborn. he is thee Most taurus)

yes, dean is also a bit defensive and deflecting because sam won't stop insisting dean's a mindless little soldier and dean also feels some resentment at sam for just leaving him to deal with john on his own (1x06 shifter monologue) and some of those feelings are a bit unfair (but dean's allowed to feel them! just like sam's allowed to feel his anger and resentment toward dean! they can feel things even if their perceptions of the situation are not 100% true). and this scene is playing off as an echo to sam leaving for stanford, he's going to california whether dean likes it or not! and that's gotta be dredging up some bad feelings for dean. but dean's still right about sam acting selfishly here. sam says he understands that hunting is important and this job is important, yet he's willing to let these people die and be collateral in his quest for revenge.

(side note: it's also very interesting to me that when sam asks "that's what you really think?" dean owns up to it right away. which is a nice contrast to the last episode where sam under ghost-possession says a whole lot of shit to dean, fulled by his anger which the ghost is exacerbating, and it's very obvious to dean and the audience that sam does feel those things, even if the words came out harsher than they might have normally. but sam insists at the end of the episode he didn't mean it !! but from dean's reaction we can tell dean doesn't buy it. but here, dean doesn't beat around the bush. he's angry with sam, he's annoyed that sam is putting his own feelings and need for revenge over what dean believes is the more important part of their job, saving people. and so he says it! and maybe it's harsh and sure he'll feel bad about it later, but it's healthier to say how he really feels abt the situation then pretend everything is fine)

in summary: AITA for wanting to drop a case that NEEDS to be completed this very week or else two people WILL disappear and likely die, just so i can track down our dad who's been MIA for *checks notes* over six months, because he's closing in on the demon that killed my mom and girlfriend and i just want to get revenge already !! even though california's a big state and it'll take me at least a day or more to get there and there's no guarantee i'll even find our dad but we can work this case now and save lives now but i just, don't wanna :/

i got the best and worst booster box ever i pulled three blue eyes. but this was pokemon and it was the fucking duck. quaxlys evolution. i got a bunch of everything cause its a booster box but i pulled three quaquavals. i did it like an advent calendar with my friend. we opened maybe five packs the day we bought it and restrained ourselves for a month and had a pack a day it was so fun pulling these!

here's my proposal for how i would have made the sonic movies better: i would have based them on the bible

#the sonic the hedgehog bible that is #i would make it so that he was born in nebraska had eggman like a father figure to him and then. . then eggman gets corrupted #and he joins the military and leaves sonic. but sonic heard that his dad was going to do some kind of science expo in cali #or something #so he runs over there (with his sisters ? can i hope for this to be considered?) and then idk maybe the movie plays out like normal #he could have sally there too i just realized! i think that could be fun #okay so he runs to california but he ends up in a tiny town called green hills and it reminds him of where he was born so he stays around #just for a bit you know #but then he ends up finding tom and he asks tom to help find his dad so they do that #but they're being pursued by this weird guy who kinda looks like kintobor and he isn't telling them his name #and they call him eggman because. well idk they can't make him egg shaped maybe just like. they have him eat a lot of eggs or make egg puns #but then halfway through the movie his assistant (i know stone isn't in the bible i just think he should be there) calls eggman robotnik #and everyone's like. hey sonic. isn't this guys name your dad's name backwards. #and then sonic like does some sacrifice or something and gives himself up and then he asks robotnik who his dad is and robotnik #like tells him that the man his father used to be is gone because something something chaos emeralds or whatever maybe it was another thing #it could be like. radiation if you really want to introduce the chaos emeralds in the second one #and it changed him to become a different man. ivo robotnik. #and sonic goes super denial and is like. no this can't be it. and he freaks out and he runs away back to his family #(family being tom‚ maddie‚ his sisters‚ and sally (who i imagine is more like his bff and not a love interest)) #and then they comfort him but they also tell him he has to take robotnik down‚ that his father is basically gone #and then this cues sonic talking about his birth dad who died tragically #and his sisters tell sonic stories about their dad and they say something about letting go #and so sonic gears up and he takes down robotnik and it's bittersweet and it's perfect #and the movie ends with sonic and his family at peace after they've defeated robotnik and can finally have a normal life in green hills #and then i'll get to my plans for the second movie later but that has more of the just. general world building from earlier #that was a long ramble

specs and spot both working in galaxy's edge at hollywood studios. like i yelled about in the tags, spot works on rise of the resistance as one of the scary first order people. specs either works at oga's cantina bc he gets to interact with families and totally play into the star wars role (when i went there the guy who took our order was super nice and complimented my newsies shirt) OR also working on rise, maybe as the person who loads you out of the car thingy bc i just think he would enjoy getting to see everyone's reactions at the end

I’ve been reading the book Polysecure, which is a fairly recent publication about polyamory and attachment types.

And my initial impression was this was neither new information nor helpful. But it’s been getting under my skin, affecting how I see the world.

The author talks about the nested model of attachment — that there’s levels of attachment and disconnection, that these concepts aren’t only relevant in parent/child and life partner relationships, but also: between a person and themself, between other relationships in the broad sense like sibling and friend relationships, within a home (including the physical space), within a community, and within society and the planet as a whole.

Right now I’m having the Bisexual Feels again and because I’ve been reading Polysecure, I’m seeing it as a…don’t remember the term she uses, an attachment thing, on the community level and on the level of self. This is identity. And having this “well I guess technically you’re a member of the lgbtq community but not really” conditional acceptance not only affects my sense of belonging to a community, but also affects my sense of…whether I really understand myself. Because yeah I get that part of the construction of “queer” is how society treats you, I get that, but I don’t know what that means for my sense of self because people also define “bisexual” as attraction to more than one gender (or something along those lines) and that doesn’t actually say a single thing about how society treats you or whether you in a “straight” relationship so which is it? Is being queer that thing where people don’t think you’re straight, or is it the actual definitions that everyone uses, huh? When people say one thing but act like they mean something else it’s like the ground isn’t solid underneath me.

Heck, it messes with my epistemology. How do I know what’s true when people lie all the time?
