Updated Fanwalker List! More will be added after the Phyrexian Arc concludes.
Tessa (She/Her)
W/U/B Human - 35
Tessa is from Innistrad where she started life as a mono-white student cathar. In a duel with a fellow student, she got very close to death where her spark ignited and she planeswalked to Cordifá my fanplane. Stuck there without resources to learn to planeswalk, she slowly learned that not every place saw spirits as restless undead, and learned the art of Spirit Summoning, which allowed her access to blue and black. Eventually learning how to planeswalk, she left Cordifá and returned home, finding it in shambles after the events of Eldritch Moon, and left to explore the multiverse.
During the events of War of the Spark, she found herself drawn to Ravnica through the use of the Interplanar Beacon and was trapped there due to Bolas's use of the Immortal Sun. She found her blue magic drew the attention of the Eternals, and so avoided it, using her Cathar blade and spirit magic to protect her fellow walkers.
In between then and the events of Kaldheim around the time of Ikoria, Cesare Siaci stole an artifact Tessa was meant to get known as the Time Vial and used it to wreak havoc on the planes of Innistrad, Dominaria, and Eldraine. Tessa and her group of friends summoned the Gatewatch to help them capture Cesare while he attempted a coup in Fiora and imprison him.
During the events of Midnight Hunt, Tessa returned to her homeplane to discover the days shortening and Tovolar's wolves threatening the general population. She allied with the Dawnheart Coven and the members of the Gatewatch to defend the Celestus from the wolves, protecting the back flank. Ultimately this would fail as Olivia Voldaren undermined the ritual.
Crimson Vow saw Tessa invited as a plus one to a Stromkirk Nephalian vampire who disagreed with the union of the big houses. When the party was crashed by the other walkers, Tessa used her spirit magic to command the souls of Olivia's cape once freed and used them to her advantage in the duel with the vampires of the Markov and Voldaren families. Rebuffed by Katilda as nothing more than a Geist controller, Tessa left after the day was won, but before the moonsilver key could be used to bring the sunrise.
Seth (He/Him)
B Human - 22
A former Amonkhet initiate, before the events of Amonkhet, Seth was going to be the next victorious initiate in the trials, until Bontu asked him to murder his best and closest friend. When Seth refused, demanding to know what kind of God-Pharoh would demand this, he was exiled to the desert outside the Hekma. Attacked by zombies, he lost his eye and nearly died, but instead planeswalked away to Eldraine. Rescued and mistaken for a knight of Locthwain, he then became a witch hunter, until actually knighted by Ayara.
Whenever the Interplanar Beacon he was drawn to Ravnica and trapped there by Bolas's use of the Immortal Sun. He had a crisis seeing his gods as Eternal warriors, and almost died to an Eternal himself, until rescued by Tessa.
In between then and the events of Kaldheim, Seth was involved with the events of Cesare with the Time Vial.
During the events of Midnight Hunt, Seth traveled to Cordifá which he was told about by Tessa. Arriving in Tela, he was struck by the corruption of the wealthy casino owners, and started a revolution among the lowlier vampires.
Cesare (He/Him)
G/U/B Elf - Pre-Mending
An oldwalker Elf from Paliano, Cesare sparked when poisoned by the King of Paliano in a scheme.
At some point after the Mending, he made a deal with the Simic to grant him shapeshifting powers and access to blue.
Sometime after Battle for Zendikar but before Zendikar Rising he found his sword, Darling in some ruins which lets him steal magic from people.
During the events of War of the Spark, he was summoned to Ravnica through the use of the Interplanar Beacon and trapped there through Bolas's use of the Immortal Sun. Bolas offered him a place at his side. Seeing through his schemes, and knowing he wouldn't share power, he sided with the Simic and led their slime forces into battle with the Eternals.
Prior to the events of Kaldheim, he stole the Time Vial from Tessa, and used it to wreak havoc on the homeplanes of Tessa, Edgrigos and Seth. Whenever he tried to overthrow Queen Marchesa with it on Fiora, he was arrested by the Gatewatch and thrown into the dungeons of Marchesa's palace.
Edgrigos (He/They)
R/W Savai Thundermane - 18
During the events of Ikoria, Edgrigos gained sentience due to the powers of the Ozolith. He ignited while being hunted by poachers. Traveling to Dominaria he managed to fall in with Dominarian Cat-Folk, and lived with them, adopting their ways. They now own a library which they use to store history from across the multiverse.
Before the events of Kaldheim, Edgrigos was involved in the arrest of Cesare when he had the Time Vial.
Savah (They/Them)
B/R Myr - 50
Before the compleation of Mirrodin but after the Mending, Savah was taken over from Memnarch by an oldwalker and separated from their bretheren. They traveled the multiverse with the oldwalker. Dying of old age, the walker attempted to transfer his spark to Savah, which resulted in immediate death and Savah's ascension.
Savah traveled back to Mirrodin to find the plane taken over by the Phyrexians. Taking uncompleated Myr with them to Dominaria, they set up base there and frequently clash with Edgrigos.
Rebada (They/Them)
B/R/G Horror - 25
During the events of Midnight Hunt, Redaba was stuck in political prison on Cordifá in the region of Berbe. Eventually, Seth's actions in Tela gave a sympathy in Berbe for political prisoners, and they were released. The joy of being released caused them to planeswalk to Theros where they currently live.

You should be playing #12 - Peer Pressure
So let me tell you about a game I got in this weekend.
I'm playing Derevi "Creature Types Matter" against mono red beats and Licia Vampire Tribal.
My board is full of useless dorks. A Spirit Mirror. A token from Irregular Cohort. Timin Youthful Geist and his buddy Rhoda. And a Vesuvan Doppleganger who'd been copying an Elenda the Dusk Rose for a handful of turns.
Licia had been attacking and growing since around turn four. Luckily I had a Spirit Mirror reflection to keep blocking with, but between all the attacks and blocks, Licia and Elenda were getting pretty scary.
I wasn't in a position to win the game, but until that point I at least had enough of a board presence to keep everything pretty even.
Then the mono red player suited up his commander with a Commander's Plate. And the vamp player dropped a Vona Butcher of Magan.
All of the sudden, I found myself in a position where I couldn't just sit back and grow. Vona could kill off any of my prison pieces, and Commander's Plate meant I could neither block nor tapdown 6+ points of commander damage each turn.
When the Licia player decided to kill off my Vesuvan Doppleganger/Elendra before it got too big, I took my shot and played Peer Pressure.
The 8 vampire tokens I got from my newly deceased Doppelganger trumped his 7 real (scary) vampires in play. It was better than a one sided board wipe. It was absolute devastation.
I passed the turn. Vamps did nothing relevant as he was low on cards in hand. Red attacked for minimal damage. And my turn I attacked with a dominant board state against nothing to win the game.
Folks. Play more Peer Pressure.
Pairs nicely with:
Unnatural Selection
Maskwood Nexus
Unnatural Selection
Imagecrafter
Irregular Cohort
Progenitor Mimic
Birthing Boughs
Mirror Entity
Shields of Velis Vel

[Album + Video] IDLES kündigen neues Album “CRAWLER“ an!
Tumblr media
“There's so many bands that go through the small rooms and dream of making it into the big rooms”, erzählen die Fünf. “Being able to write a soul tune like this made me go, fuck -- we’re at a place where we're actually allowed to go to these big rooms and be creative and not just go through the motions and really appreciate what we’ve got. The song is sort of an allegory of feeling lost and getting through it.”

Legendary Commentary: Innistrad
The original Innistrad block is remembered fondly by many players. Its also remembered as one of the last pushed sets before the power level of most sets took a general decline until about Kaladesh, and more recently Theros Beyond Death.
I love the original Innistrad block and everything about it. Lets take a look at some of the legendaries from that block and how they size up starting with the first set of the block: Innistrad
Tumblr media
Geist of St Traft’s art really stands out to me, its haunting and dark for an azorius aligned creature. As a 3 drop hexproof attacks for 6 its really good. White leads to a lot of lifegain on etb and attack choices that work really well, and blue allows a lot of unhindered combat. I could see Cunning Evasion doing wonders with this in a spirit deck, peeling spirits back on block to drop again for value. Run that with Kindred Discovery for an excellent engine that wins value no matter what choice your opponents make.
Tumblr media
Holy FUCK I love Grimgrin. Giant mound of corpses. Can’t even untap unless he munches on one of your dudes and swings as a 7/7 for 5. The death on attack is so flavorful and powerful, grimgrin is an excellent, EXCELLENT zombie commander.
Tumblr media
Representing the light again we have Mikaeus Lunarch. I love commanders with X mana costs and I hope to see more of them, Gyrus was a perfect way of executing it. Mikaeus leans into a white counters theme that has seen a lot more support lately and is definitely worth the exploration. There’s also enough tech to tap and untap Mikaeus to keep landing counters on your creatures to bulk them up. The flavor of evangelizing hope is so strong, if you haven’t tinkered with him don’t let the mono white aspect spook you away.
Tumblr media
Zendikar saw rise to a more powerful tribe for vampires, Innistrad sealed the deal introducing rakdos vampires under Olivia. Where some commanders bolster your own value Olivia takes opponents’ value and makes it your own letting all your vampire support apply to stuff like Rafiq of the Many, Ramos Dragon Engine, and Atraxa. Its potent but the mana cost and requirement to keep her out are usually fair.
That’s the first set, Innistrad. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these or experiences with them, feel free to inbox me. See you tomorrow for Dark Ascension.

Modern Deck Tech: Green Stompy
[you can see every deck tech here]
Hello & welcome to this weekly deck tech! This week it’s time to talk about modern with a deck that has been present for a while now: Green Stompy. The deck is very budget for the format, especially since it’s mono-coloured so you don’t need to shell out some cash for fetches & shocklands; plus the deck plays very fringe cards that are usually pretty cheap. Like, the deck costs...80$? Which is INCREDIBLY cheap. Granted, this deck is not top tier and you’re not likely to win GPs with it, but for local FNMs & such it’s very fun and somewhat solid, so if you want to get into modern on a budget this is an option. Anyways, lets get right into the beef of the deck.
Little One
Tumblr media
Lets start off small; Experiment One is a pretty solid card for 1cmc, it will get bigger over the game as you play bigger & bigger creatures, being able to scale off like that is really good and will often attract a removal spell, which is fine since it only costs 1.
Little Tree
Tumblr media
Our other one-drop is Dryad Militant; she might not pack as much punch as the other one but her ability is actually really solid in modern, it can turn off any graveyard based deck, which are rampant right now, so your opponent will have to deal with her before doing anything, which gives you time to play massive creatures so yeah that’s pretty good.
Ghost Boy
Tumblr media
A 2/1 haste for 2cmc isn’t all that great, but with the addition on Undying it becomes quite good. Getting a 3/2 when it dies will help apply pressure early on and keep it strong. That’s the goal on the deck, tempo out your opponent with efficient creatures, and Strangleroot Geist does it well.
Counter Boy
Tumblr media
This card goes very well with the previous ones we’ve seen. By itself Avatar of the Resolute is not too bad, a 3/2 Reach Trample for 2cmc is nothing to ignore, but possibly being a 4/3 or 5/4 for 2cmc? That’s insane! It’s a really underestimated card in my opinion.
Vanilla Beast
Tumblr media
Not much to say here, Kalonian Tusker is just a 3/3 for 2cmc, which is...actually not bad at all. Funny enough, a 3/3 in modern does a lot of work, especially at 2cmc; you’ll get to apply some nice pressure or fend off some attacks with this.
Getting Bigger
Tumblr media
Now we’re getting to our big guys; Leatherback Baloth might seem like a decent draft card (which it is) but having a 4/5 for 3cmc, with no abilities, is actually good here. Being a 4/5 lets you block pretty much any creature in modern besides Gurmag Angler & Primeval Titan so I’d call that efficient.
Getting Even Bigger
Tumblr media
While it might not block creatures as efficiently, Steel Leaf Champion has quite a punch to it; a 5/4 that can’t be chumped is really good, it gets around tokens and aggro decks very well. This card will need to be dealt with or it’s going to win you the game very fast.
Can’t Get Bigger Than This
Tumblr media
Big Mama is joining modern! Ghalta Primal Hunger is massive in this deck and you will only get to cast it for 2cmc, trust me. I’d recommend only playing 2 of these though since it’s legendary and you only need to resolve 1 to win usually.
Surprise Beats
Tumblr media
Before Ghalta came along this card was a 4-of, but now people tend to only play 2 of them. Groundbreaker is used for a surprise win usually, getting an extra 6 points of damage out of nowhere can be enough to close off the game, people never see it coming.
Enhancements
Tumblr media
A good way to make your early creatures more relevant in the late game is to attach a good ol’ Rancor on them and smash in for some good damage. Giving stuff trample and bringing back Rancor when it dies does a hell of a job!
Tying it All Together
Tumblr media
What makes the deck stand its ground is actually Aspect of Hydra; the deck otherwise has some solid creatures and can compete with some decks but is missing a little something, that something is this card. Since all your cards have multiple green in their cost, you can easily get an extra 6 damage for 1cmc (that’s being conservative, I’ve seen people get an extra 12 damage and more in some games) this can steal a game out of the blue, and pretty early at that. Oh also I’ve seen some people play Nylea’s Disciple in the sideboard for some nice lifegain
Lands
Tumblr media
The deck just plays a playset of Treetop Village for some extra creatures (a land that is very underrated imo) and the rest is just Forests, though I’ve seen a few decks run a couple of Nykthos Shrine to Nyx.
Wrap-Up
That’s it for this week! I hope you enjoyed this deck tech as much as I did! The deck is super cheap to build, and it really fun to play. If you want to attend some local modern events but don’t want to spend a fortune on a deck I’d recommend giving this a try; you might not win tournaments (though it’s possible) but you will have a good time and should get a decent result with it. If I missed anything please let me know. I’ll see you all next week for a legacy deck tech!

Sept2019 TourneyRpt from Henry
Hi, this is Henry. For the Pauper Modern Tournament on 9/21/2019, I played Mono-Black Corrupt Control (again) and managed to take it to a 3-0 victory. I had actually planned on bringing another deck, but I did not have all of my cards so I took my black deck instead.
There has been no changes to the decklist at all.
Here is the overview of the matches I played.
Match 1 - Free. The tournament had 9 players, and I was the leftover player who wasn't matched with anyone. I received a free win and sat around for an hour. From the couch I witnessed a raging battle between an army of rats and the land-destroying [[Ulamog's Crusher]]. The Crushers won in the end.
Match 2 - 2-1 VS Jared's Mono Blue Ninjas
- Game 1 (WIN): Fairly typical game of control vs aggro. He played creatures like [[Slither Blade]], [[Faerie Miscreant]], [[Mistblade Shinobi]], and [[Ninja of the Deep Hours]], all of which met swift removal. A mainboard [[Stormbound Geist]] surprised me but as usual [[Crypt Rats]] took care of it. He had to hardcast the ninjas at one point because there was no way a Ninjutsu activation was going to happen.
- Game 2 (LOSS): I didn't see much of my removal, and many of my bombs were hit by counterspells like [[Deprive]], [[Mana Leak]], and [[Spell Pierce]]. My creatures had a hard time sticking due to bounce spells as well. I had sided in [[Duress]] hoping to hit a counterspell, which I did, but the rest of his hand were all bounce that could be used to basically counter my removal by bouncing his own stuff. [[Pristine Talisman]] and [[Tendrils of Corruption]] helped me stay in the game for just a bit longer but it was not enough.
- Game 3 (WIN): We started this game with 4 minutes left on the clock. The game went into time, so I had to win within 5 turns. I was able to play [[Gurmag Angler]], managing to swing and connect twice. On the 4th turn to time, he played [[Stormbound Geist]] with 7 life remaining. On the final turn of the game, I drew my 6th [[Swamp]], cast [[Corrupt]] for 6 damage, bringing him down to 1 life, and attacked with [[Gurmag Angler]]. We realized [[Stormbound Geist]] cannot block non-flying creatures, and this closed out the game just in time.
Match 3 - 2-0 VS Todd's Izzet Blitz
- Game 1 (WIN): We both kept pretty questionable hands, leading to both us being mana-screwed in the early game. I was able to use my draw spells [[Sign in Blood]] and [[Read the Bones]] to filter and draw into [[Swamp]]. Edicts kept [[Kiln Fiend]] and [[Nivix Cyclops]] down and out, which severely hurt his gameplan.
- Game 2 (WIN): I played it safe and held up mana since Izzet Blitz has really good OTK potential. [[Stormbound Geist]] came in as expected, but I had a hand full of edicts, [[Defile]], and plenty of mana ready. Later in the game he used [[Manamorphose]], [[Opt]], and [[Augur of Bolas]] to draw cards and potentially find answers. He used [[Lightning Bolt]] and [[Flame Slash]] to deal damage to me and to kill my [[Crypt Rats]], but I closed out the game by its ability in response.
For more details on my deck, check out the tappedout page. I cover a bit of strategy and sideboarding cards. If anyone has suggestions for any of my decks, please post some comments to let me know!

Gurl! Your Vexvine list gives me LIFE!! Do you play any other modern decks?! (Signed -a faerie player)
Thanks! :D
I also play U/B mill and Bant Spirits, though I imagine Bant Spirits won’t be seeing much play over the next while.
I tried the Blue Steel deck (mono-U artifact aggro), but it wasn’t for me. I couldn’t figure out the play patterns despite the sweet combo potential.
My one true love in Modern was my Geist Tempo Twin deck, but obviously that card was murdered by the Splinter Twin ban. :(

Tuesday Brewsday 21: Fathomable Faeries
I’ve often wondered what the big deal was about Delver of Secrets in mono blue decks when it comes to Pauper. Now, I know I’m going against the grain with this article, and most of you will say what I’m about to is unfathomable, but I have to at least argue my point. So, why do I dislike Delver? Well for one, I never seem to have any luck with the crazy wizard flipping blindly. It always takes a set up turn or two to guarantee a flip. By then my opponent has already done better things with their turns, or outright destroyed my Delver. Second, Most “Delver” decks you see in Legacy only run about 14 creatures, while mono blue Delver in Pauper has been running 20 creatures lately. Personally, I don’t like those odds. Which brings me to my third point, Wouldn’t it be nice to up our creature count a bit and take advantage of Spellstutter Sprite & Ninja of the Deep Hours? Besides, players have always been on the fence about which turn 1 Faerie is better anyways... so why not run both!
4 Faerie Seer
4 Faerie Miscreant
4 Spellstutter Sprite
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
4 Spire Golem
2 Fathom Seer
2 Ponder
4 Preordain
4 Accumulated Knowledge
3 Snap
4 Counterspell
1 Deprive
2 Sunken City
3 Mystic Sanctuary
15 Snow-Covered Island
I’ve been one of the few that have like Faerie Seer better than Faerie Miscreant. Although the Seer doesn’t have as high a ceiling as the Miscreant, it always does something when it enters the battlefield. Being able to scry 2 is no joke. It can turn a sketchy one lander on the draw into an absolute snap keep, knowing you get four chances to find that second land drop for turn two. Running both Faeries increases your chances for a turn two ninjitsu Ninja of the Deep hours, and makes Spellstutter Sprite even better. Sure, you’re taking away you’re explosiveness, but I like to think you’re sacrificing that for more consistent game play.
Fathom Seer is Jherjamesb’s pet creature they’ve been playing with since Mystic Sanctuary plagued graced our format. It’s almost reminiscent of the good ol’ Gush days. Morphing this and returning two islands to your hand, one of which better be Mystic Sanctuary, to draw two cards is a strong play. Especially if you’re replying Sanctuary to place an important spell on top of your library. Adding Fathom Seer alongside a playset of Spire Golem is something that probably wouldn’t be done if you were playing Delver of Secrets, which is fine by me.
Since I’m running a playset if Faerie Seer, I’m able to cut down on Ponders, since I’m still manipulating my library with scry effects. In return I can also run Accumulated Knowledge, something most mono blue decks don’t do since they’re too busy running eight sorcery speed cantrips. The only mono blue deck that does is the control variant. I like to view my version as a more tempo oriented deck, and prefer the instant speed options that come with running AK. Besides, who doesn’t love casting a bunch of cards for two mana, especially if you can buy one back with Mystic Sanctuary.
The other surprise in this deck’s mainboard I need to touch on, is the appearance of Sunken City. Since I’m running an abundance of 1/1s I needed to find a solution to Electrickery and be able to close out games quickly. Sunken City does exactly that and all it costs is two mana every turn. Giving our blue creatures +1/+1 can turn the tide on a close matchup and again is something you wouldn’t typically see in a Delver deck.
2 Winter's Rest
4 Blue Elemental Blast
2 Echoing Truth
2 Coral Net
1 Relic of Progenitus
1 Stormbound Geist
1 Aura Flux
1 Sunken City
1 Viridian Longbow
This is pretty much your typical sideboard you would see in a Delver deck. The one exception being another copy of Sunken City. I really don’t like Electrickery or Shrivel and this gives me a way to avoid it without trying to play around it.
Winter’s Rest is cool tech since Guardian of the Guildpact isn’t seen much nowadays. Being able to permanently tap down an opponent’s creature when it enchants it is amazing. It can allow your Ninja to attack in the turn it’s played if that was your opponent’s only defender. Just a solid card that deals with big threats that were able to sneak by your counter magic.
Running mono blue without Delver of Secrets really isn’t unfathomable now is it? I truly believe a build like this has a home in our meta. Imagine, maybe someday we will get an aggressive flying 2/1 Faerie for one mana that works like War Falcon does, but with Faeries. I don’t know, maybe I’m crazy for dropping Delver, but I hope I’ve at least stirred the pot for conversation.
The Walrus – hier gibt es tolle Cocktails.
