Living in God's Abundant Grace:
Embracing His Unfailing Love
Introduction: Let's go on an exploration of God's abundant grace and unconditional love as revealed in the Bible. Join us in discovering the transformative power of God's grace and the profound impact it has on our lives.
Scripture Passage: Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) Cross References: Romans 5:8, Titus 2:11-12, 2 Corinthians 12:9
Commentary: Ephesians 2:8-9 proclaims that by grace we are saved through faith, and that this salvation is not of ourselves, but is the gift of God. This passage highlights the foundational truth of God's grace as the basis for our redemption and relationship with Him.
Romans 5:8 reveals God's love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. This verse underscores the depth and sacrificial nature of God's love, which is manifested through His grace.
Titus 2:11-12 teaches us that the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world. God's grace not only saves us but also empowers us to live transformed lives.
2 Corinthians 12:9 reassures us that God's grace is sufficient for us, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. This verse encourages us to rely on God's grace in all circumstances, knowing that His love never fails.
Questions:
How has God's grace impacted your life and understanding of salvation?
In what ways can you demonstrate God's grace and love to those around you?
How does relying on God's grace empower you to live a life of righteousness and godliness?
What steps can you take to grow deeper in your experience of God's grace and share it with others?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for your abundant grace and unfailing love that are freely given to us through Christ Jesus. Help us to fully embrace the depth of your grace and allow it to transform us from the inside out. May we live each day in the light of your love, extending grace and compassion to others as we have received from you. Amen

Tonight, I have experienced how God would reassure you of His promise after He rebukes you. I had my quiet time and read Ephesians 2:1-10. Verse 2 caught my attention and rememebered I sinned last night. Okay, I would admit that from time to time I really sinned from the Lord.
Ephesians 2:2 in CEV says
"You followed the ways of this world and obeyed the devil. He rules the world, and his spirit has power over everyone who doesn't obey God."
I then realized that the moment I disobey the Lord, I am already under the power of the enemy. No wonder I easily sin and hurt God. But there's no way for me to stay in that guilt and sadness that I felt because after this realization, God comforted me with verse 4-5 when the Bible says God is so merciful. He made me alive again with Christ Jesus and this is the gift of undeserved grace of God.
I thank the Lord for His grace. His love and forgiveness is something I don't deserved for being a sinner. There's really nothing I can do for Him to love me less. Folks, this also true for you. Jesus loves you the way He love me.
See, God is like our parent. He scolds us but comforts us with His love afterward.

Read: Ephesians 2:1-10
Good News: v.4-5 CEV
"But God was merciful! We were dead because of our sins, but God loved us so much that he made us alive with Christ, and God's gift of undeserved grace is what saves you.
V.8
"You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God's gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own."

Another Day in Paradise
For most people July 30th 2016 was just another normal day in paradise.  For me, not so much.
Like so many times before, my daughter Mady woke me from a deep sleep when she snuck into our room to grab something from the bathroom.  It was 515am and I noticed her hair was wet.  She’d already showered.
Years earlier her visits to our bedroom had usually included the words, “Mommy and Daddy, I’m scared, may I snuggle with you for awhile?”  This time it was different.  She greeted me with that beautiful smile I know so well, and I could have started crying right then and there.  You see, this was the day I’d be walking her down to aisle to present her to Daniel, her husband-to-be.  This would be the last morning she would wake up in our house as Mady Dueck.  The bustle of activity added to the noise in my head.  Bridesmaids arrived, ready for their hair and makeup to be done.  Jodie began the process of making cinnamon buns – Mady’s favorite.  I was assigned a seemingly never-ending list of items to pick up and deliver prior to the start of the wedding.
I met Daniel and his groomsmen at Barberville at 730am.  The guys were in good spirits, and as the barbers worked their magic I couldn’t help but realize this young, handsome man would be taking on the role I’d fulfilled over the past 20 years of Mady’s life – care-giver, provider, protector, confidant, hero. I felt a lump in my throat.
At 1230pm Jodie called me up to our room to take my first look at our Mady.  She was stunning, always has been, always will be.  As memories flooded my mind I couldn’t contain my emotion.  How had the time gone so fast?  My little one was a woman now and she looked the part!
Weddings are celebrations! They are intended to be times of great joy as bride and groom are ushered into the adventure of marriage, all the while being enthusiastically encouraged by friends and family members. As an officiant with Young Hip & Married I have had the privilege of taking part in countless weddings, every one a unique ceremony customized around the personalities of the couple I’m marrying. I’ve often felt the twinges of emotion welling up in me as the bride and her father appear at the opposite end of the aisle.  From my vantage point, I get to hear the gasp of the groom when he lays eyes on his bride for the first time, and see the bride and her father make that emotional walk together.  This time, however, I was on the opposite side of the aisle!
By 1pm we were lined up and ready for the processional.  Everything was going well until Mady slipped her hand in my arm. We both started to cry again!  I shakily told her to remember a comedic incident from years earlier at Disneyland – it didn’t really help!  As “The Book of Love” began to play, the words struck both of us and we began the walk up the aisle towards her handsome Daniel. When he saw Mady, her beauty caused him to quickly turn away to compose himself.  This didn’t help either.  That walk will forever be burned in my memory - looking at Mady, seeing Daniel, noticing the expressions of our friends and family members as we made our way to the front will be forever etched in my mind.
On July 30, 2016, I had the privilege of officiating their wedding, it really was a complete blur to me – surreal.  Now just a few days later, as I’m reminiscing I can’t help but reflect on the beauty of love. Marriage is such a beautiful adventure. When you meet and fall in love with your soul-mate, the desire to experience the adventure together is overwhelming.  It is a natural progression in life, and it is futile to attempt to stop it!  Daniel and Mady are meant to be together!  They are crazy in love and perfectly suited to one another.  My emotion that day had nothing to do with ‘losing’ my daughter to her husband, my new son!  Rather, it was fueled by the gift of nostalgia.  Allowing myself to reflect on the meaningful experiences we’ve shared over the past 20 years caused the tears.  Daniel and Mady’s wedding has now been added to the ever growing list of memories.
If there’s anything I’ve learned in my 23 years of marriage, it can be summed up in the simple statement ‘Grow old with me, the best is yet to be!’
