The bun comprises braised pork belly, pickled mustard greens, coriander leaves (cilantro), and peanut powder. 

I make the bun from scratch, but you can also use store-bought buns to save time and focus on preparing only the filling.

Furthermore, when management of disobedience and obedience are incomparable, a general will not fight but overwhelm himself.

Suppose we summon and assemble the righteous and brave, cut off his path home, and annihilate and cut off the ears of the nefarious followers. To make not a single wheel turn around would not only wipe away the imperial court's shame, but also be a legacy for strong gentlemen and ennobled princes.

Xiang deeply agreed with him. I don’t have an entirely clear overview of the time period either. I think part of the reason is that central authority in Eastern Jin was always quite weak, and provincial commanders always fairly autonomous. How much control did Jiankang really have over Tao Kan for example. The Huan clan remained very powerful also after Huan Wen’s death, for a period the Jingzhou governorship became practically a hereditary office for the leader of the Huan clan.

After the death of Emperor Xiaowu, the Jiankang court came to be led by Sima Daozi, the King of Kuaiji. But his government was not very popular, and he quickly came into open conflict with Wang Gong, the Inspector of Yan province. Wang Gong won the first round, and forced the execution of one of Daozi’s chief supporters, Wang Guobao. Daozi won the second round, as he managed to convince Gong’s general Liu Laozhi to defect, and Gong was killed. But this I think was a rather empty victory, as the governors who had allied with Gong remained in place. So Daozi’s government probably came out of the conflict with whatever control it had had over the provinces significantly weakened.

the best on the go vegetarian breakfast available at beida

and imo just sort of my favorite meal generally, though i think if i was making a sitdown affair of it i might add a bowl of congee (topped liberally with salt)

this is totally irrelevant to any of my followers but i feel like conceiving of, planning, and executing this meal was imo pretty fucking impressive so i’m posting it anyway

first, grab your fruit knife (a necessity, but don’t buy it from wumei, they overcharge), and some fruit from your fruit stockpile (also a necessity, but never buy from guobao orchard, they overcharge as much as wumei does). my fruit stockpile is pretty much always minimangoes. each minimango is approx. ¥1.50 so two is ¥3.

total: ¥3

then hit the xiaobaifang. order a five fragrance tofu skin pocket from the stuffed pocket counter, and ask for a plastic bag. make sure to specify five fragrance, otherwise they won’t give you the sauce. that’s ¥3, and the bag is ¥0.10. then go to the fried rice counter and order two tea eggs, and put them in your bag. that’s ¥3. while you’re over there, if the ramen counter is already open, grab some garlic sauce and put it on the exposed tofu skin. if you’re buying a drink and not just drinking your own water, take a moment to think and ask yourself if you want something cold from our next stop or a cup of doujiang. if you want the doujiang, that’s ¥3.

total: ¥9.1 (¥12.1)
