1. What made you pick up this character?

TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST- I used to be completely indifferent to Heshi; I also didn’t know anything about his story either, like I saw him and didn’t really think much about him??; he was just another sword from the game and that was pretty much it, that was until I started seeing him more and more on my pinterest dash, like;; really cool fanart of him (and also fanart that drew him very handsome) and you know how pinterest works- once you save one (1) pic of something, it starts recommending you more and more content about said thing you liked, so that happened with Heshi, and I kept saving fanart that appeared of him on my touken ranbu folder until it was stacked with Heshi and that was when it hit me- ‘oh boi! I HAVE to know about this sword!’- and so I read his character info on the wiki, his dialogue lines, the way touken interpreted him + his actual story and I just fell deep man- NOW ITS HESHIKIRI HASEBE LOVE HOURS ALWAYS FR FR- 😭😭✊ 

talking a lil more seriously (?) and putting to the side my simpage, I think the way in which the game decided to interpret his character based on the actual sword’s story is pretty dang cool!! One of the many things I love about heshi is how complex his inner emotions are; a direct example of this is shown through the way in which he views his previous master; because sure, in the anime and in the game he shows us only one version of his feelings when in reality, his feelings in regards to Oda go much deeper than just ‘hating’ him bc of the way Oda was; and this is shown really well in the anime; how the fact he remembers Oda in such a bitter manner has nothing to do with Oda’s character itself  ( in the sense that this bitterness does not revolve around Oda’s morals and the way he carried himself when he was his master as heshi mentions to us in game that he is willing to do anything for us ‘ What shall I do for you? Retainer killing? Temple burning? By all means, take your pick.’ <-- Which shows us that Heshikiri is very duty bound and leans more on the side of having rather ambiguous morals so long they fit his master's wishes which again, proves that his bitterness does not come from the way Oda’s character was )  but rather; what Oda did with him; how this loyalty and dedication he had for his master suddenly seems to get thrown straight out of the window the moment Oda gave him away to the Kuroda family. This event really hits him, so much that even thought the Kuroda clan took great care of him, ( as his current manifestation ), he is still left with big abandonment issues and resentment towards his old master; 

the truth to all of this is that Heshikiri truly wanted to remain by his master’s side despite all, and from his perspective (at least pre-kiwame) he never once considers the fact that Oda gave him away as a gift rather than having just discarded him as if he was nothing. Another interesting thing is how once you send him to his kiwame training, he undergoes through his own character development where he comes to terms with this truth and is able to put a sort of closure to his past that was weighting on him

“As I ended up specifically being sent to Azuchi, confronting that man is a situation that I cannot avoid. Or rather, is it possible that I can only find my true strength by overcoming that man?”

Now that I've confronted that man, I feel... somewhat let down. The reason I was gifted to the Kuroda family. Even though I have always thought about it. ....That man, he was cautious of Josui-sama's quick wit. I was given as an offering of good will. Of course, if that is so, I was definitely a rather important necessity.

I briefly mentioned it up there but I also find it interesting how despite how proper and meticulous he is, which are traits that oftentimes get associated with ‘rightfulness’ when it comes to characters; his character is pretty morally gray- in the sense that whether his master is right of wrong seems to be of little importance to him as no matter the order his master gives him, chances are that he will follow them with precision- in a way he’s kind of like a ‘i’ll walk through fire for you’ kind of character, which I think is interesting when you take in consideration that his character seems to have been influenced by servants or the concept of servitude as his dialogue lines tend to imply such, this is perhaps a reference to the story that gave him the name ‘Heshikiri’ ( which can be translated to "pressure slash" ) which involved a servant making a mistake which ended up consting him his life- or well that’s the idea that crossed my mind when i thought aobut it.

12. What would you say is the most unique trait about your character?

I think one of Heshi’s key traits is his undying loyalty, tho sometimes it tends to go to such extremes that a lot of times it ends up being rather unhealthy on his end, simply because he truly puts himself on the last place and puts important people to him reaaally high up. You can see this clealy on the dialogue line he says when his sword breaks;

‘ Is this the end... I wonder, even if I'm no longer here... will the Master's order be fulfilled... ‘

It just shows you how little he cares about himself, and how much importance he puts on his duty and the person he cares about that he doesn’t even stops to think about thefact that well-- his sword broke and he’s dying-

Other traits that I can mention that are unique to him or well, that make Heshi be Heshi are his dedication, his strong sense of duty, his sense of gratitude, his pride, his sense of companionship, how reliable and trustworthy he is, and deep down; his tenderness as well

i struggled soooo much with this request i have no idea why when i literally thought of something similar to this a few days ago >.<. i hope you enjoy it though, struggled the most with the ending ^_^

“it’s reallll hot ray,” you comment rather obviously as rafe leads you down the street, making sure you stay on the side where cars don’t pass by placing his large hand at the small of your back, directing you. 

“know that baby, we’ll get you some water in a bit, alright?” he promises, making you nod compliantly, about to take another step before you hear a soft meow— your heart practically skipping a beat when you look down to find a small kitten besides your new baby pink heels. 

“oh my god!” you squeal, quickly reaching for the lovely animal, lips tugged into a bright big smile. 

before you can pick the kitty up, rafe grabs your wrist, pulling it back quickly. “could have rabies and shit, should know we don’t touch strays. it’s not hygienic, baby.”

you can only thrash your hands against him, melting as the kitten starts rubbing their head against your ankle, purring lightly. “ohhh, look how cute!!” you chirp, quickly grabbing the undomesticated kitten into your arms as soon as you escape rafe’s tight hold. 

“can’t just leave—” you pause, lifting the kitten up to examine the gender. “—her here! she’ll never survive the poor thing..” you sympathize, petting her soft fluffy fur.

rafe could only roll his eyes, shaking his head. 

“thought i told you not to touch it- her. probably has fleas and ticks crawling up all over her body.” he scolds, rubbing the side of his forehead in frustration. 

you don’t even pay much attention to him now, too distracted at the way the small kitten purrs and meows. “oh you’re just the cutest girl ever, aren’t you? what should we name you, hmm?” you ask the kitten as if she could speak back to you. 

“hey! ‘m talking to you, you hear me? d-don’t know why you’re talking ‘bout naming her. we’ll drop her off at a clinic but you should know we’re not bringing her home with us.” 

“w-what? but rafe! look at her.. she’s perfect. it has to be fate! she even came up to us! we can’t abandon her to random strangers,” you beg, hugging her close to your chest. 

“promise i’ll take care of feeding her and cleaning up after her, please let’s take her back home!” you continue, staring up at him with those wide and glossy doe eyes. 

he stays silent for awhile, chewing at the side of his cheek. “.. gotta promise me—,” 

“oh thank you!” you squeal, your eyes burning with what could only be happy tears. “i love you so muchhh!” you rant, kissing all over rafe’s cheek. 

you return back home with your new kitty, who you sweetly named, ‘luna’, as it so read in her shiny pink collar you and rafe picked out while she was receiving a proper de-flea treatment as well as a few necessary shots, rafe squeezing that time to remind you of all the things he wanted you to take care of with your new responsibility. 

and as as the night settled in and luna laid sound asleep in her soft bed, you dolled yourself up in the restroom—changing to a soft white lingerie set, approaching rafe with a cheeky smile.

But on a serious note, Lucifer was kinda scared when you fell with him as he puts his hand through his hair watching you sleep. He couldn’t believe he brought his baby sister with him on his down fall. He knew he influenced you as you looked up to him more than the other angels. It was like if you were his child, his baby.

But he tucks you in bed as you were sprawled out in your bed snoring loudly. He chuckles kissing your head and leaving your room as he closes your door with a slight sad look.

Back to the funny sibling things, you are definitely the one who sneaks in the kitchen to take his leftovers for payback. After Lucifer walks out of his workshop tired and hungry.

You basically told him to take care of himself more. He walked in the kitchen to find his leftovers gone. So you could tell what happened next.

“Y/NNNNN!” You heard a fierce yell as you had shoved the food down your mouth and ran as you heard a loud flapping of wings behind you. “WHEN I CATCH YOU, YOU BETTER PRAY!”

It’s was so cartoony at how Lucifer chases you while you ran for you life. You have wings but he flys better than you so it’s no use.

He caught you, making you cook dinner for a month as you groan while he smirks patting a duck like a mafia man. “And you better wash the dishes too-” “NOW YOU ASKIN' TOOO MUCHHH!”

But soon the sinners came and made the freedom Lucifer gave them, turn into pure hell as you watch worried at the stress your older brother had. Lucifer tries to smile to show you it’s not affecting him, but it is.

He soon makes you stay all time in the palace, scared for your safety as you stay in your room worried at how isolated he soon becomes. Charlie would walk around babbling about you as she kept your company. You smile at your cute niece giving her boops to her nose.

I also headcannon you and Lucifer are like secret twins as you both hyper fixate about a lot of things like [favorite thing] as he hyper fixates on ducks and gives you his ducks to show off how cool he is as your older brother.
