you are the feeling off the drinking fizzy drink when it's hot outside, the feeling between kool-aid fueled drunk laughter, the feeling of day spent doing whatever, the middle of a holiday, where responsibilities are a foreign concept, the feeling of not knowing who or even what you are, but taking every leap to find out, the feeling of running through a maze of flowers, the feeling fully understanding that everyone can go fuck themselves because it's right here, right now. you are the feeling of listening to your favourite song for the first time, the dizziness after spinning around, you are a feeling that you know won't last, so you might as well cherish every second of it.

Tea Leaves and Anxieties

What do Tea Leaves, Crystal Balls, Tarot Cards, Psychic reading, Parrot Cards, and a whole slew of others have in common? It is fortune telling, or the perceived ability to read and predict one's future. What is the fascination with knowing the future when we only have control over the present? Veda Vyasa tells Yudhistra about the impending calamity and the destruction of the kshatriya race as a result of his actions. Vyasa further advices Yudhistra not to worry about the future, but to be steadfast and firm in righteousness or be true to his nature. However, Yudhistra agonizes over this impending gloom and ignores Vyasa advice. He tries to mollify, and change his behavior to not cause any inadvertent issue. This results in the dice game and the humiliation in the hands of the treacherous kauravas. If the future is rosy, we will ruin the present with sheer inertia and indulgence and if on the other hand, the future is depressing, we will make our present a living misery. Don't sweat over the future. You chart your destiny via your actions you perform in the present. Jealousy Comparison is the thief of Joy - Theodore Rosevelt Jealousy and comparisons are signs of insecurity and weakness. While they can be channeled to make a person work harder to achieve the desired results, it most often vitiates the mind. Jealousy is not restricted to the era of the Mahabharatha, but very much alive and well today. There are many Duryodhanas and Sakhunis scheming and plotting the annihilation of many. In Steven Covey's "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", he talks about the 'scarcity' and 'abundance' mentality. Those who display a scarcity mentality believe in a world of limited or finite resources and potential and therefore worried about the constant dwindling of supply. Similar to a Pizza pie, if one has consumed a couple of slices, in the world of scarcity mentality, there is two slice less for others. People with a Scarcity Mentality have a very difficult time sharing recognition and credit, power or profit. It’s almost as if something is being taken from them when someone else receives special recognition or gain or has success or achievement. Their sense of worth comes from being compared, and someone else’s success, to some degree, means their failure. The Abundance Mentality, on the other hand, flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. In this paradigm, the world is a place of infinite resources and potential and enough to share for everybody. It results in sharing of prestige, of recognition, of profits, of decision making. It opens possibilities, options, alternatives, and creativity. We all win if we embrace the notion of abundance mentality. However, one can also use the vedantic method to overcome jealousy. Swami Sivananda states that a true vedantin knows "I am the All," "I am in all," "All is Self." "There is nothing but my own Self in this whole universe. I see my own Self everywhere. Who is to be jealous of whom?" Jealousy disappears by this Vedantic Sadhana. The best way to deal with jealousy is to do our duty in a true karma yogi spirit viz. What ever we do, we do it as an offering To God "Ishwara Arpana Buddhi" and Accept whatever outcome as a result of our actions as an offering From God "Ishwara prasada buddhi". God is Everywhere Every week in Chinmaya Mission we hear Swamiji say, "Lord Shiva is consciousness. It is the same life that enlivens us and everyone around us". That is the vedantic way to understand Brahman. God is in us and in all beings around us. However, we see in the Mahabharatha, even when the Lord is in front of many, they fail to see or realize. Although Krishna is in their midst, none except Bhishma, the Pandavas and vidhura realize his greatness and his true nature. When Bhishma advises Yudhistra to confer the first honor to Krishna, Sisupala overcome with rage, hurls a profusion of insults. Why is this so? It takes goodness to realize goodness and its that simple. It is said, when once Duryodhana was asked to find a good person, he searches and returns stating he could not find any good person since there were none. When Yudhistra is asked to find a bad person, he comes back saying he could not find a bad person because there were none! We should learn from Prahlada whose undying devotion to Lord Narayana was his salvation. He realized God is everywhere and when his father Hiranya Kashipu asks Prahlad, whether his God was in the pillar in front of them, Prahlad's simple reply is "God is omnipresent, he's in a speck of dust, as well as in this mighty pillar". After destroying Hiranya Kashipu, when the lord Narayana asks Prahlad what he needs, he replies "Lord, I have seen Thee. What else can I want? Do not tempt me with earthly or heavenly boons. Let my undying love for you never fade" Think positive, change your outlook and attitude, see the good in everything, do good deeds, and you will definitely realize God!

📖 - something that happened to me

Loki the god of mischief ruins and helps me win the school project.

Once upon a time, I had to do a school project for school and the topic was Norse mythology. (Also Roman mythology went to the class full of Jason grace stans so no regrets.)

I was so goddamn excited because I had just read the Magnus Chase series!! So I was like!! I know everything!!! Yes????

And I was in charge of a group which had to make the tree. This tree connected all the nine realms together and came with an annoying squirrel and some other beasties.

The way we were gonna build it was out of chairs. Yes, me and my friends thought it would be, just the best idea, to make a tree by taping nine wooden chairs together.

Not even duck tape just plain ol' sellotape (side note, did anyone else use think that sellotape was spelt with a C????) We stacked the chairs on top of each other, and taped them, (and on another side note we didn't have a scissor to cut the tape so we used our teeth.) And for context, the bottom most chair is chair 1# and the top chair is 9#

To understand how much this tree became a part of our class for a whole month, consider: we poured our heart and soul into this abomination of a tree. We needed to win, we were betting our whole pride and life on this bitch, winning it for class supremecey. Our grade was just. Like that. Like sunny silly little competitions mattered. Maybe they don't, but to us in that moment, it really did.

Do when it started lensing dangerously to the left, we were worried. Anxious. We taped it and it swayed and we were worried it was gonna fall. But it stood up. We hung our heavy decor on it. It teetered. We hesitated, but brushed it off. We spray painted it and it taunted us with falling over, with the idea of loss, with the idea of facing the other class knowing well that they wouldn't let us live it down, well we weren't going to let them live it down.

Now came the day that the project would be judged. Our procastinating asses only finished painting it on the day itself, just two hours before being judged. So now I'm watching the judges, their examining the project, they are smiling and I'm sure we're going to win.

But then when I'm happy, god says no❤️

A child trips and falls and the already teetering tree and collapses it. And I like a poor bystander watching a dam break, watch the sellotape holding the chairs together, snap.

I watch, as chair #3 knocks on the judge, and I then, remember, the wet paint. The judge is covered in green paint. She's in shock. The #2 chair falls on someone's foot and their yelling. #6 and #7 have knocked over a can of paint and effectively covered the floor in paint. Also I want you to realize that we are all wearing, extremely expensive, white, uniforms, with strict parents, so we all back the fuck up.

Except for 3 people, one who has fallen over and is currently slipping like a baby dear on ice on the paint, ne of them has doubled over in laughter, and one of them is looking in absolute horror, wondering maybe community college wouldn't be so bad.

One of these three people, is a judge, can you guess which one? I'll give you till the end of this sentence to make a guess.

The judge is the one literally d y i n g of laughter. She's crying now. I am so confused.

But you know what detail I had left out? This wasnt just a project. We were all doing dress up. And the child who tripped? didn't trip, she was pushed, by my friend, who was in a Loki costume, looking rather smug herself.

The judge thought it was rehearsed!! A planned thing!! And guess what

We ended up with a two-day mess to clean. There was paint everywhere!!! On the walls! The floor!!! On clothes!!! it was a mess smh. Oh, yeah and we won.
