Just finished playing Symptoms of Deceit and when I saw Nalis' blank expression sprite it reminded me so much of Angel Cookie's deadpan look that I just had to draw Nalis with that expression lolololol plus I did get his ending so... :3

It's been mentioned by the creator that Nalis likes matching with you so he'd probably be happy to buy the toothbrushes for the two of you💛

He might die if you're the one who buys them. Give him time to catch up with how he feels about this and you'll have a very glad and very flustered Nalis.

When Nalis is brushing his teeth he might get flustered about the fact that he's thinking about you and that he can't stop doing it.

He might hope you're also thinking about him and get even more flustered about it so now he's blushing all alone in the bathroom sink before bed at 3 AM.

What would happen if Eris tried to turn someone who already had yandere tendencies into the perfect love?

I mean, although it isn’t shown too much in the game, PreMilo does have yandere tendencies, they are just fairly light.

I have been thinking about how Eris might interact with other yandere vn characters though.

I think for most lighter yanderes, like Mycheal or Ren from 14dwy, the result is similar to how they dealt with PreMilo. String them along and show them exactly what they want, and then drive them to the edge. I think any yandere that isn’t willing to hurt their mc will have a hard time with Eris because they simply do not care about any collateral around them, so having people die in front of them doesn’t illicit any bad reactions from them.

I was thinking about Thaumos from @symptomsofdeceit as well and Eris would probably force them to rip out their heart or any other limb only to berate him for not doing it right or well and then ignoring him. They’d probably use his desperation for attention against him, forcing him to continue doing worse and worse things. Eris might never get rid of him but he will never get rid of them either.

Things from more violent yanderes like murdersim yanderes has a more delicate balance for them. I imagine Eris would be thrilled to have limbs taken, but would still mock them for any insecurities they have. Not enough for them to fully kill Eris but enough to have it slowly grate on them, seeping into their mind. If they mess up, Eris will do unto him what he did to them tenfold. I guess if you want to do something right, you have to do it yourself.

House of Salt and Sorrows - Erin A. Craig

House of Salt and Sorrows concluded my spooky reads for Halloween Season 2019 and it is by far the one I am most excited about. The other books I read weren’t as spooky as I thought they would be, or they were spooky in other ways, but this book was some good ol’ fashioned ghosty hauntings, long dark hallways, creepy caverns, magical doorways, the whole nine yards.

In case anyone didn’t get the memo, House of Salt and Sorrows is a Twelve Dancing Princesses retelling. Annaleigh Thaumos lives at a cliffside manor with her seven sisters, shadowed by mourning and grief after four of their siblings died mysterious deaths. These deaths prompted rumors of a family curse. However, with a new baby on the way and their mourning finally at an end, the sisters are eager to go out dancing at magical balls every night—except Annaleigh. She is determined to find the truth about the deaths in her family, which leads to a lot of weird shit.

My heart was literally pounding while I was reading this book. It’s part ghost story and part murder mystery and between those two things I was absolutely spellbound. I don’t have a lot of experience with either genre so I’ll be the first to tell anyone reading this review to take it with a grain of salt (see what I did there?), but I thought the whole thing was so atmospheric and creepy even from the beginning. 

A major part of this atmosphere was the seaside setting. There’s just something about seaweed and drippy caverns that’s perfect for hauntings. Annaleigh is the only one of her sisters who seems to think anything is wrong, so even among the glittering ball gowns and fairy slippers and festivals, there’s this lingering feeling that Annaleigh might be crazy, or she might be right. Especially when she goes wandering around at night. The parts with the little sisters running through the hallways at night gave me the damn creeps.

So the setting was perfect. I thought the book was reasonably well-paced, although I was reading it at breakneck speed because I wanted to figure out what the hell is so sinister about midnight balls anyway. There were a couple places that I thought could have been done away with, particularly the romance parts. I’m not the biggest fan of romance, but I felt like it was ill-fitting in light of Annnaleigh’s feelings of guilt (she doesn’t want to draw anyone into her family’s curse, if indeed such a curse exists) and her determination to find her sisters’ murderer (every time she gets distracted she starts kicking herself but then she goes right back to mooning over Cassius because he’s just so dreamy). 

This book is very much plot driven so I wouldn’t say any of the characters stood out to me all that much, but Annaleigh was an interesting enough heroine. She served her purpose. As I stated earlier, could have done without Cassius and his random interjections in the story. He was really more of a plot device than a romantic interest. Whenever he showed up it was sort of like, “Hey, we need this thing to happen and we need someone to help Annaleigh. Why would someone help Annaleigh? Obviously he must love her!” Their relationship would have been so much better if Cassius had been a little shadier. The only character that I didn’t really care for were Lord Thaumos himself, because he did such a weird personality switch when he got drunk at the feast.

In conclusion, even though the characters were all about the same level of developed (and that level would be “under”), I had a great time reading House of Salt and Sorrows. I finished it in almost one sitting. If you’re not sure what to read in the last couple days we have before Halloween, I definitely recommend this book.

Thaumo would absolutely love being put in your backpack and taken on adventures! If you planned on dumping him at the dumpster he’d break down sobbing and begging you to let him stay with you. He’d try to negotiate by offering to just sit in a trash can in your home instead.

(I think Tumblr dined on my ask T^T) How would the sillies react to an MC heavily associated with blue-ring octopuses? I ask this because blue-ring octopus venom is in their saliva. So I just think about if MC were to kiss anyone/share food with anyone, they risk having that person paralyzed/DIE. I just enjoy the turmoil that could cause :> (kiss and risk death or kissing the object of your affection, a true plight) <3

Nalis is a really late bloomer with romantic things, so he probably wouldn’t even realize how badly he wants to kiss you. If he does realize it he’ll take advantage of working in a lab and collect tons of samples from you to try to figure out some solution that’ll let him kiss you. Every time you see him he’d blush and just say he’s working on it, even if that wasn’t why you went to see him. It would be on his mind nonstop.

I think Thaumo would eventually die from this lol 😭😭 To keep him alive you’d have to offer him a lot of cuddles and let him kiss other parts of you nonstop. If you ever drooled in your sleep or something he probably wouldn’t be able to stop himself from licking it and you’d wake up to a dead Thaumo on your bed.

Thaumo’s first approach for most things is to distract you. If there are any signs of you considering self destructive behavior he’ll suddenly need attention, he’ll need help with something, or he’ll be in desperate need of cuddles and won’t take no for an answer. If you tend to fall more into those behaviors at night he’ll be more pushy about sleeping in the same bed as you, and his additional arms will “accidentally” come out and wrap around you to trap you against him. He’ll use his clinginess to limit your ability to hurt yourself.

Nalis will do everything he can to be a good friend, support you, and encourage you to take care of yourself. How Nalis responds depends on exactly why you have those tendencies and what helps you avoid those habits, but he’ll be there for you!

Nalis would also break into your room more often (pretending to be Thaumo disguised as Nalis) to throw away anything that contributes to you feeling/acting that way. If you get mad at him throwing something important to you away he’ll just blame it on “Thaumo being a bad person”.

Thaumo isn’t aware that he’s in a game! He was referring to when you were kids. When you first met as children you connected very quickly and were happy to hang out with him. He knows you’re older and different now, but he’s still hurt that you’re cautious and unfriendly to him.

Everything reminds me of Thaumo 👍🏻❤️ haha since I played the game I started researching octopuses in general and especially imitator octopuses, and I found this gem of information ✨(⁠☆⁠▽⁠☆⁠)

Did you base the design of Thaumo on the characteristics of imitator octopuses🐙?

The act of sexual courtship is considered a specific animal behavior that aims to obtain a mate and encourage her to mate, and in octopuses it is a marvel.

Octopuses do not select the first female that passes in front of them, but rather the choice of partner, it is an extremely careful process with courtship and seduction, with the ability to "get jealous", as in humans, which forces them to fight with their rivals "for the love of a female", which can be fights of up to half an hour and almost always, which end in the death of the rival. 😳💀
