What is Draxum's relationships with each of his kids?

I'd assume he's closest to Mikey due to their shared interest in the mystic arts, as well as Mikey's emotional attachment to anyone he considers family 🥰

I find it funny how similar Donnie and Draxum are in cannon and I wonder how that will play out in this AU

The same thing with Leo and Splinter were very similar to each other despite being on opposing sides.

Yeah, I'd say Draxum and Mikey are the closest with each other. Draxum loves all his sons, but he really has a soft spot for Mikey. Mikey in turn is very devoted to Draxum, I've mentioned it before but Mikey's strong desire to do the right thing paired up with a lifetime of his father convincing him that destroying humanity is the right thing has led to Mikey being very determined to fulfill Draxum's plan. Also him being a prodigy with mystic powers leads to him spending a lot of time training his abilites with Draxum.

Raph is basically Draxum's second in command, as the oldest of his brothers he of course is the leader of the team when Draxum isn't the one issuing out orders. Draxum puts a lot of responsibility on Raph, responsibility that Raph very much takes seriously so Draxum as a result also has a lot of trust in him.

Poor Leo is still very much dealing with some intense Middle Child Syndrome here lol. To be clear, Draxum still loves Leo, and vice versa, but Draxum's role as a parent has a tendency to clash with his role as a... what, a military commander? Something along those lines. Listen, he's preparing to lead the yokai into war against the humans, and with his sons on the frontlines he needs to quickly figure out their individual strengths so that can help them evolve their specific skillsets. Mikey has his mystic abilities, Raph has his physical power and Leo.... Well, we know that Leo's expertise lies in his strategic thinking, except neither he nor Draxum has figured that out yet lol. Draxum is the leader, he comes up with the plans, and Raph's in charge otherwise. He doesn't notice Leo's leadership capabilities because he doesn't even think to look for them.

Leo's situation is kinda similar in this AU to what is in canon, where his self-esteem issues caused by him not feeling like he's bringing enough to the team paired up with him being a total Daddy's Boy and craving parental validation that he doesn't feel like he's getting because Draxum is more focused on Leo's brothers so he acts out to get attention and again Draxum's parental duties clashes with his WAR LORD duties or whatever because dammit son I love you but you need to quit goofing off you're a soldier and uh.... yeah...... Leo feeling a bit like the black sheep of his family (hah, sheep, cuz Draxum's a... hah) is another contributing factor to him being the first to turn sides.

And yeah, you make a good point, Donnie being so similar to Draxum vs Leo being so similar to Splinter is.... ooooooo, that's fun, there's so much potential there. Draxum's definitely dissapointed that Donnie's so gifted when it comes to the sciences only for him to be all like "Alchemy??🤨🤨🤨 Mystic science??🤨🤨🤨 That's not scientifically accurate!🤨🤨🤨" and just rejecting almost anything yokai-related.

Actually, Leo reminding Draxum of Splinter has a lot of fun possibilites too. Draxum being all like "Ah, he's just like Lou Jitsu!🤩" while simultaniously being all like "Ugh, he's just like Lou Jitsu...😒"

Love love love your human au of the turtles!! I've had a burning question for a while though:

What do the boys assume about their relation to Splinter? I doubt they wouldn't notice the fairly obvious fact that there does need to be two biological parents for reproduction, and that they don't really look like their dad, despite having no memories before him to suggest adoption. There's no way they didn't know he was kidnapped and held captive for seven years because when you're a celebrity that sort of thing isn't hard to find. Combining these facts, I know what conclusions I would've come to. Granted, I'm not exactly the golden representation of your average child, but at the very least Donnie would've definitely wondered.

So... What's their conclusion about the situation??

Ah, thank you! And this is actually a topic I explain way more in the I'm Sorry, Teenage Mutant What Now? fic! But basically, the boys, for a majority of their lives, believe that their dad is their biological father and that their biological mother, who they do not know the identity of, was abusive in some way (leading to both their father's disappearance from the public and to eventually taking sole custody of them and them moving to New York,) and/or abandoned them-- but they've never really discussed it. Here's an excerpt from the fic on the topic, conveniently from Donnie's perspective:

"Donnie frowned a bit, shrugging. He was loath to admit it, but Leo did have a point. Their Dad hated to talk about himself or his past outside of trivia about his acting career. Donnie had tried to ask him about their extended family once, and he totally shut down. He wouldn't even tell them what his parents' names were. And the four of them had always tried to respect that. I mean... they knew it was all really complicated. I mean, jesus, he had basically been kidnapped and presumed dead for, like, twelve years. That had to be traumatic, right?

Most of what Donnie knew, factually, about their move to New York, he had gotten from old magazine articles and talk show segments that he found online later in life. He knew what all the reports and stuff said, sure, about the abusive ex, (their mom, he thought dimly in the back of his mind, whose face he couldn't even remember,) the going into hiding, the forced isolation. But none of them had ever talked about it. He had been really little back then, so he couldn't really remember very much. His memories were more general feelings or ideas rather than actual events. He remembered playing pretend games with his brothers more than anything. He used to think that that was odd, because he had never been much of a 'pretend' kid growing up, but his therapist noted that it was common for small children to use fantasy or make-believe to 'escape' from bad situations or explain away trauma. So he supposed maybe that was it.

He remembered it being dark most of the time. And he remembered his feet being cold a lot. There was this sound that he heard in his head a lot when he thought of it, but he had no idea what it was. Shhhh shhhhh.

... But that was about it. He and his brothers, in turn, didn't really talk about it amongst each other either, or with other people. It just felt... weird. Or wrong, somehow, he supposed? Whatever."

(... And, just for fun, another small excerpt from a one-shot sidefic I did from April's mom's perspective, back when the boys were still itty bitty...)

"She had, at one point, tried to convince the boys that they could just call her “Carol,” but when she had pitched it to the group, April had gasped loudly in offense and said that that was too weird, and if anything, they should just call her ‘mom.’ And then Mikey had declared that they didn’t have a mom. And then Raph had argued that they did have a mom, she was just dead. And then Leo had refuted that they did have a mom, and she wasn’t dead, she just didn’t love any of them. And then Donnie had signed something in ASL, too quick for her to quite catch, and Leo had nodded and quickly corrected himself, clarifying that their mom was probably alive and also existed, but she didn’t love any of them and also wanted their father to die."

I actually had to do a bit of research for this one to properly understand chronic pain conditions, so I hope everything in here sounds somewhat correct

(I also didn't format it in the typical dashed line list of sentences, I just wrote it in paragraphs because honestly I like that way better)

Leo:

Leo has no clue what it's like dealing with that, and it kinda stresses him out. He's constantly asking you what you need, how you're feeling, and if he can do anything. He doesn't really know exactly how to help, so he tries his very best. He doesn't want to make anything worse, so he is very gentle with you. One time, he made a joke while you were in pain, and you snapped back at him out of anger from the pain. He thought he had done something wrong, and immediately was apologizing. He definitely babies you a little, but he's not mean about it. He just knows you need a little extra help sometimes.

Raph:

Raph somewhat understands what your condition feels like. What with him working out a lot, muscle pain is pretty common for him. It's not a chronic condition like yours, but he definitely can relate sometimes. He tries to help by giving you massages. Whenever he's feeling sore, Mikey always gives him a good massage to help him feel better, so he asked Mikey to teach him so he could help you. He will also carry you anywhere you want or need, if you're in too much pain to walk anywhere yourself. He has also learned that it can be tiring, constantly being in pain, so he is open to talk if you ever need it.

Mikey:

Mikey is waiting on you hand and foot. Need some painkillers? He'll be back in just a second. Need something to take your mind off the pain? He's got everything imaginable. He'll make your favorite food, he'll get you a little fidget toy to mess with to take your mind off the pain, he'll give you all the rubs you need. He also knows that it can take quite a toll on your mood, so he is completely expectant of mood swings, drowsiness, all of it. He is here for all of it. He is your butler, 24/7, no matter what it is you need.

Donnie:

Of course, when Donnie learns about your condition, he immediately designates himself the title of your personal doctor. He is going to spend the next week learning EVERYTHING he can to help you. Not only will he know everything about your condition, he will learn the best ways to cope with it. He'll even study you to see if anything else works, excluding anything he found online or in a book. He's aware that everyone has their own experience, and strictly using general methods won't produce the best results. He's also constantly working to make you things to help. He'll make you pillows to help you sleep comfortably, he'll make you special patches that help relieve some of the pain. Heck, he'll straight up invent a new, more effective painkiller to help you. When it comes to helping you, his knowledge knows no bounds. But of course, he knows that intellectual knowledge is not all he needs to help. He's learned that even if it's not the best way to relieve the pain, you really enjoy it when he lays down and holds you in his arms. It may not be physically comforting, but he knows you love it more than anything in the world.

Luci Interacts Pt 2

technically it's the next day so technically I'm allowed to draw so- yeah I'll stop making excuses, I was so sooo bored

So! This is how Luci interacts with the Mad Dogz (there's a lot of reading, so just a heads up)

Luci: sigh "I hate how much you get me." Raph: "Ha ha! Really? Glad we can relate to each other."

When Luci first saw Raph, she thought he was so badass and be cool and spunky. Needless to say that she was immediately disappointed when she learned that he was a more of a softie, and she kind of dismissed any interactions with him. That is until she goes to their lair for the first time and sees his room and her eyes go to his stuffed toy collection. Raph would ramble on and on about them, and Luci would get invested. Luci doesn't fully understand the appeal, but when he gifts her a plush, she finds it oddly comforting and is always somewhere within her reach when she goes to bed. Their relationship expanded from there with Raph's room becoming another one of her safe spaces. Luci and Raph would relate with each other's anger issues (someone clearly having it much worse) and he would be one of the only people she'd talk about some of her issues with. Raph even shows her methods to deal with her short temper, which doesn't really work but the effort is what counts. Their bond is close but they don't do much aside from these small therapeutic talks in Raph's room. They have small talk, but don't have that much in common.

"I find Raph to be kind, and not in the suspicious way like that Beaver, and compassionate. He's a good friend to have and his fiery spirit to fighting makes him even cooler! I gotta have him teach me some moves. Maybe I can kick that trash eater's *** if I do. Speaking of him, the big guy loses some points for being all buddy buddy with the trash eater. Though knowing him.. it can't be helped so.. I don't hold it against him harshly."

Luci: "We're definitely killing this guy, right?" Donnie: "Oh we are going to ANNIHILATE them, my friend."

Luci is the closets with Donnie! She finds his sarcasm very charming and his sass being on the same level as hers. These two would verbally destroy ANYONE if they stood in the way (they're the mean girls). When they first met, Luci wasn't interested in him at all since he kept to himself. It was only when she meets S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N for the first time that she gets interested in what Donnie actually does. Luci is very interested in Donnie's tech, in contrast to Pico, mainly because of the lights. She also finds the sounds that they make to be quite pleasant. Luci zones out at everything Donnie says until she tells him to shut up; but if it's any kind of math, she's immediately invested and will assist in any equations Donnie is working on for projects. Her working in the junkyard, when it came to repossessing cars, she's actually a bit handy with tools. She's no expert but she can get things running, even if only barely, so she helps with what she can with building Donnie's inventions. Aside from them bonding over tinkering, they also watch tv shows together, mostly sci-fi related or specific dramas. Luci likes how Donnie is also straight forward like Repo and appreciates people like this because their simpler to understand. Adding the fact that Donnie is a terrible liar, she can read his ques even easier because she's still trying to understand them since being mutated. He's also the most helpful to her when overwhelmed from the blaring lights and constant noise of New York.

"Dee is pretty cool, ignoring his terrible music tastes. He's a bit talkative on things I don't understand, but his passion has my respect. His lab is the most interesting thing with all those robo things. I like tinkering with things in there, mainly big shelves he neglects to bolt correctly, so I tighten or loosen them so they're actually stable. Who knew a genius like him could forget the damn basics with simple things. I try to stay away from any of his bigger projects though.. the engines can be very loud.. And I hate to say it, but I understand the trash eater's point with robots. They don't gotta be everywhere doin' everythin' but they are handy. I like assembling them more then the end results and functions of 'em."

Leo: "Okay okay, you're gonna love this next joke" Luci: "Pff- please no more! They're so bad!" Luci: "LEOOOOOO YOU MOTHERF-"

Luci and Leo have a weird dynamic. One moment, they could be chill and cool and the next, Luci will want to rip Leo's head off. Luci likes Leo's sass and sharp wits and actually finds some of his jokes funny, though she doesn't do more than snort at them. Luci instantly liked Leo with his charisma, but finds him to be annoying. For a long time they would only be sassy with one another and their relationship wouldn't grow until Leo catches Luci watching tv, specifically a dramatic romance (for a reason I'll elaborate on another time). Leo would instantly be invested and the two of them would watch romances, dramas, and reality tv shows together. This grows them closer, but Leo's mischievous side screws with Luci a bit. Luci doesn't understand the concept of pranks as a way of messing with someone in a lighthearted way and instead sees it as an insult. Everytime Leo pranks her, she will literally hunt him down and attack him. She forgives him at the end of the day, but her lack of understanding and Leo's inability to not mess with someone, leaves their relationship stuck in this wishy-washy state of being good friends to awkward acquaintances.

"I like Leo, I really do but.. I just don't get 'im sometimes. He's the most fun to hang out with, but then he does things that make me angry and it's supposed to be treated as not a big deal. I've seen his brothers act the same way as I do at his antics, but we always seem distant by the end of it.. it's so confusing, honestly. Why are people so confusing? It makes me wonder why I should have friends at all sometimes. But then again, I know they have my back so.. clearly it's not all confusing, right?"

Mikey: "Hey Luci! How've you been? Still trying to fully tame Mrs. Nubbins and stuff..?" Luci: "Hm? Oh, yeah I guess."

Luci is indifferent towards Mikey. At first, Luci was untrusting towards Mikey as his brightness reminded her of Todd's kindness. She avoided him the most out of all the brothers, and their relationship took the longest to develop. But she'd notice all the drawings on the wall or the fridge and get sucked in by the splashes of colors. She finds out it's Mikey by catching him draw at one point. She'd observe from a distance before it became their little activity for Mikey to draw and Luci to just watch. It was a comfortable silence for them, and Mikey would be cheerful that they'd be growing closer. That is until the "Nothing But Truffle" episode when Mikey ditches Todd for Meat Sweats. Luci is aware that Mikey is a major fan of Meat Sweats and understood his desire to be friends with him; she even understood him leaving Todd to hang out with him. The problem was that, despite not liking Todd, she didn't like Mikey's actions. She didn't understand how he could easily cast away someone he considered a friend for a person they didn't even really know, instead idolized. This kind of broke their relationship as Luci started getting confused again. She wondered if Mikey would do the same thing to her, thinking a bit selfishly but its justified in this case. She gains a bit of sympathy for Pico when she sees his clear distaste towards Mikey's actions. As it stands now, they don't hang out unless someone else is present, and even then Luci won't initiate conversations. Luci is stuck on whether she can trust Mikey and wanting to at the same time. The situation is very confusing to her, so she acts like how she did when they first met, dismissive. (Mikey just cannot win, can he?)

"My thoughts on Mikey..? He's.. he's artistic, very talented in that. He's spunky and bright, I guess. And he's... I don't want to answer this anymore."

Hello! I like your writing and I was wondering if you were willing to do a headcanons request. It would be the rottmnt boys (separate) x reader (gn).

The prompt is that the reader is someone who makes their own music. The reader has made friends with them, often hanging out with the boys. The reader doesn't play that many romance-related songs, but recently they have been playing more of them. These songs turn out to be about them! But the reader made the lyrics vague enough to where they could have plausible deniability that it isn't (they are nervous that their crush doesn't the same way about them). Then one day, they sorta figure it out.

Apologies if the prompt is badly explained😅 I'm not used to making these sorts of requests.

You've been friends with the turtles for quite some time now! Meeting one of them by coincidence, then having April introducing you to each of them. They've been fans of your music before knowing that you were the one who created those beloved songs. Frankly, you were glad you had a safe-space for your music. But it was just so tiresome having the motivation to come up with one song.

That was until you hung out with one of the brothers. Of course you treated them all equally, it was just this particular brother made you feel a certain way. In a way that you just didn't know how to respond to. You talked to your bandmates about him and they've teased you immensely. But they sympathized with you realizing how this was eating you up. One of your them then suggested you write love-songs aimed towards your crush.

It took a lot of consideration if you wanted to perform such songs. You weren't really familiar with romance, but you knew songs helped you cope through hard times. Which now paints the scene of this story. On how you created a whole track devoted to one special turtle.

He actually was quite a big fan of your music before you were introduced in person! I personally see him more of an "electric-rock" and "Pop" sort of music enjoyer.

It's to achieve his full "Nardo" personality! Ask his brothers, they could tell you how dramatic he is. He's just the type of turtle to be open about lip-syncing to Lady Gaga.

So when he found out you were the one releasing all of his favorite hits? He immediately idolized you.

Obviously he wanted to become friends with you for your personality, but he just couldn't resist knowing what else you were going to release!

Leo also idolized you for another reason.. he had a crush on you. You just were so cool! You had eyes and hair that he couldn't look away from. And your humor.. wow your humor was good. Stupid as it was, he always was on the edge of his seat whenever he awaited your band's album update.

Was it going to be flamboyant? Cool? Tubular? Is that even a word?

That was until you dropped out your new album, "Love-struck."

At first he was confused, since you were one to not upload heartwarming songs. It wasn't until he gave it a listen.

The way you sounded.. genuine, made his heart ache. He wanted to know who on earth this was for.

Or was he overthinking all of this, and this was just for you to earn some cash?

He didn't catch the hint for a while until he noticed one particular song called "Da Vinci." If you're not aware of the origin of the brothers' names, they all come from the renaissance era. Consisting of popular artists. This turtle's origin name came from, Leonardo Da Vinci.

His cheeks became the same color as the red markings on his face the moment he began listening. While there were very vague hints in the first few songs... there was one specific line of lyrics that alerted him.

"Won't you come to me, and paint me with your blue bandana"

He then confronted you after a couple days of the release, telling you how each song was cool to listen to. Pointing out the the "Da Vinci" song.

When you were first introduced, he found you quite strange, but nice! You were friendly, kind, and very creative.

Like a Mikey-level creative.

Raph isn't really the turtle to listen to hardcore-rock or loud pop. But in his words, "Songs of hope." Donnie translates that into songs that aren't so loud to hurt his ears, but aren't so soft for him not to be able to jam out too.

But most of the time he doesn't listen to music. Until April recommended some of yours. And wow. You knew how to touch his heart.

Your voice was smooth which just made him feel homey! It was a nice feeling for him. So he chose to listen to more of your music.

While he as well began hanging out with you even more. You both just clicked! You just seemed to be so patient with him.

You were respectful of his wishes, and respected his space.

Soon enough, he developed feelings for you. But how could he out of the brothers tell you? His brothers teased him when they found out about his silly crush on you.

It wasn't until one day, Leo came rushing in with his phone. Calling out to Raph that you have released a new song.

The brothers circled around the phone as Leo pressed on the notification.

"Heart."

The lyrics to him were quite normal, a love song. Probably not meant for him... until Donnie commented.

Donnie mentioned how there was a huge theme between the color red, alligators, and the phrase "Heart's bigger than your body."

A couple of Ooo's and laughs filled the room as Raph fled out.

It was quite unexpected when Raph arrived. Almost breaking the door and all.

You both shared your feelings and shared a kiss in your studio.

Mikey is a fan of many genres of music! With artistic hands and ears of his, there's no song he won't give a listen to.

But even with his artistic creative spirit, even he hasn't listened to everything.

April introduced you and the two of you immediately got along just fine. It was no surprise to his brothers to how close you both became.

You just had a "groove" / vibe that he could vibe too. Is that weird? I don't think so.

Mikey had no clue you even had a band. Until Leo played some of your music on the boombox.

And alas you became his bias, his favorite artist.

He couldn't help but dance to all of your music! Whether if it was pop or rock. He painted how he saw each chorus, the song titles, everything.

And of course he showed you these paintings! He was quite surprised when you asked him to create your next album cover. But he agreed, because it was you!

It wasn't until when your album was released, with his pieces of art as the song covers. He was touched; honored.

If that wasn't obvious enough, there were some lyrics that he suggested in some of these songs. He found out when he read through the lyrics.

It wasn't until he was painting to your music, finding himself constantly paint hearts. Was this a secret message? He continued to paint. Finding out you were in love.. but with who?

Wait. Him?

OH! HIM.

You both of you confessed your feelings over text the next day. As he kicked his feet reading each of your texts to this day.

💜 Donnie

Genuinely honest, he only listens is "techno." Nobody really expected for him to enjoy any other genre of music... until you came around.

At first he was a bit wary of you as a person. You just seemed so odd, not in a negative way! He just didn't know you very well and saw no reason to start a friendship with you.

But April reassured him you were a good person. A good friend! So he took her word, and wow. You were something far from what he's seen from humans.

You seemed to be able to express your feelings through words concerningly well. Which helped him out! He knew and understood what on earth you were trying to say to him.

Most of the time, he needs people to repeat what they said. Because either he couldn't hear, or genuinely didn't know what they were trying to say.

One day, you introduced him to your albums. He was a little hesitant at first, because he wasn't used to any other type of music. But when he placed on those headphones he saw everything in a different light.

Your music moved him as a turtle. Hence he began to heavily analyze your music. Donnie was surprised to the deeper meaning of each of them. How they all had a story and lesson. It helped whenever you needed to answer questions to what you were trying to say. He read between the lies of your music to know you better.

It showed him what you found most important in this small world, how you wished for humanity to flourish and evolve. It was fascinating...

Fascinating for him to catch feelings for you.

The day you released your new album, he got to work to analyze the album. Finding himself extremely shocked to how there were many references to him.

He quickly messaged you about the album, asking if you had feelings for him. It was a random question, but he desperately wanted to know. Having a whole album based around him? Wow.

When you mumbled out the words 'yes.' He didn't know how to react. But he was ready to take each step with you at a pace you both were comfortable with.

So, I noticed that Tinker-the-dragon showed you storyboards of their own animatic (which looks great btw, can't wait to see it), and since you said you enjoyed seeing the process, I figured I'd do the same! After all, having people acknowledge and get excited for my WIPs gives me a sense of accountability to finish it, which makes it much more likely to actually get done.

So, behold my chaotic, colorful rough sketches!

The process is slow-going, since I am simultaneously working on a couple other creative projects, some are tangentially related to this one (like how I'm finalizing my headcanon designs for all the turtles beyond just Donnie), and some aren't (like drawing long overdue art of my D&D party's characters).

I'm also making some guesses/taking some liberties when it comes to the timeline. Like, I'm assuming that this AU takes place post S2 finale, and thus will take place in the new lair, but I don't actually know. (If this has been addressed in asks before, I'm probably too new of a fan of SnapDonnie to have paid attention to those asks, and don't have the attention span to scroll through a ton of asks just to obtain a specific bit of information)

Similarly, I don't know exactly at what point Donnie starts attracting flies. It might not be as early as I'm depicting here. I can certainly move that part to a later section, but I don't know what I'd replace it with.

In general, if you have suggestions for things to be changed/switched around to better fit with the 'canon' of SnapDonnie, I'd love to hear it. It's better to make changes now while things are still very rough and flexible, than once I'm more committed and frames have taken quite a bit more effort to make.

Also to answer your questions- SnapDonnie takes please after the movie, So Raph has a blind eye and hole in his shell/plastron, Mikey has his scars (though u cant drawing them in bandages to aviod drawing them if i want -i always forget to draw them lol) and Leo has a leg brace.

And as for the flies, Donnie starts to attract them basically immediately once the physical changes start, though he basically douses himself with insect repellent at first (while he still wants to repel them) So frames 24 and 25 would go after he really starts to change instead of before.

Raph is glaring at his brother’s shell. The effect is lost on the fact that Leo hasn’t turned around since he slinked up next to the alternate version of Donnie, but if none of his brothers are going to do it, someone certainly has to.

It figures that their two dimensions would have to intercept again some time. After all, with the Leonardo’s situation, at some point they would have tried to at the very least get in proper contact, because for some reason the Leonardos are insistent that they don’t just shut the whole switching thing down outright.

But it’s different this time, because this isn’t their universe, and the guy in Leo’s body isn’t their Leo. He’s the impostor, the turtle local to this dimension, and Raph is choosing to ignore the way he’s shuffling nervously beside him, because seriously, he could tell the truth to the alternate versions of them at any point. They’re doing this entirely to themselves.

Leo taps something on Other Donnie’s phone, and the purple-clad turtle swipes his phone away abruptly, glaring. Leo raises both brow muscles and quirks the corners of his lips up. Other Mikey turns around and rolls his eyes as though this is an every day sort of thing, and Raph tries and fails to relate this to the dynamic between Donnie and Leo.

“Raph,” Leo actually whines, completely throwing Raph off. It’s so childish and unlike the way Leo tends to present himself. Other Raph spins around, face crafted into something neutral as he walks backward. Other Mikey is not subtly leaning against him to keep him from tripping. “Donnie’s being territorial with his phone again.”

Other Raph sighs, spinning back around, and creating distance between he and Other Mikey with the use of his absurdly large tail. Like, seriously, he might be a bit smaller than Leatherhead, but he still has the guy’s proportions, and it's weird. Other Raph scolds, “Leo, stop trying to steal things from your twin.”

Leo huffs, and Other Donnie shoots a victorious smile over at Leo before going back to tapping at his phone. Leo waits a few beats for him to offer the phone back out, and then sighs and retreats to the back of the group, where Raph and his brothers are sticking together.

“So,” he says, and the shit has the gaul to smile right now. “It’s been a few months since we’ve seen you guys, hasn’t it? Has anything interesting happened since the last time we spoke?”

“Is this seriously necessary?” Donnie asks, sounding similarly confused and peeved with Leo’s current behaviour.

Leo elbows him. “C’mon, Other Dee, throw me a bone here. Dontron is obsessed with all this parallel universe crap, I need something to hang over his head for a little.”

“Mondo got the rest of his stuff out of his parents apartment,” Leon pipes up, not seeming even a little phased by Leo’s intentional rudeness. Then again, Leo seems to be pretending to be Leon, so that sort of checks out. “Other than that, it’s been a pretty calm week.”

“Gee, thank god someone was picking up what I was putting down,” Leo sighs, and while it starts off with that same cocky attitude, it trails off quickly into what seems to be genuine anger. “So, anyways, I didn’t finish clearing out April’s spare room for the week, so I could set you guys up in there. But after that I’m gonna turn in early, I haven’t gotten a good full sleep in a while.”

“You are terrible at subtlety,” Leon hisses angrily.

The attitude drops, and Raph is thrown off by how unreadable the tone is when Leo says, “I’ve been the top player in charades for years, haven’t I?”

“Maybe it’s time to stop playing,” Donnie says seriously.

Raph’s brain isn’t going fast enough for all of these metaphors, but unfortunately he’s not quite rude enough to call the Leonardos out on it. Their decisions, at the end of the day, are their stupid decisions.

“We’ll think about it,” Leo says. “But, y’know. Maybe I’ll wait ‘till it stops pissing my twin off so much when I stop. I’ve asked him if we could stop before, but he got all angry and uptight about it, because he wasn’t ready for things to change.”

And then he winks right at Raph.

Raph purposefully increases the energy behind his glare, but Leo only sighs before dashing forward towards their counterparts from what seems like a random burst of energy.

“Whoever wakes up first tomorrow,” Leon says quietly, with a similar unreadable tone to the one that Leo had just used. “We’ll deal with it, okay? And just like last time, it’ll probably be for a few days, so there’s plenty of chances for things to get a bit more normal.”

“Stop speaking in riddles,” Mikey requests. “This is making my brain hurt.”

“Okay,” Leon says, and then he loudly asks, “What time is it here, by the way?”

“Past dinner,” comes the near synchronous reply. Other Mikey spins around, skipping backwards while holding eye contact with Leon. He asks, “Have you guys eaten yet? I can probably whip up something if you haven’t already.”

“No, we’re fine,” Leon responds, suddenly all politeness, posture and cadence nearly a perfect match to Leo’s.

Raph can’t help but be even more bothered.

When they’re lead into the spare room they’ll be sharing for the next few days, Leon almost immediately flops onto the singular mattress in the room as though he belongs there, even though Raph tries and fails to make that a fact in his head.

It’s not Leo, yeah. But it’s still his body, and sometimes that distinction escapes him. Part of why the whole thing irritates him so much.

“Laying it on a little thick there, weren’t you?” Leon asks, and there’s the usual impostor in Leo’s body. The snark machine with little to no filter.

Leo shrugs, and with just the dropping of his smirk, suddenly he looks so much more tired. It doesn’t suit the body quite right, and Raph wishes that he could say the same about his brother in general. “Yeah, well, I needed to make a point, didn’t I? And Raph, I know you’re mad at me, you can stop glaring now.”

Raph does not stop.

Leo sighs, and sits down on one of the actual seats in the repurposed subway car. He doesn’t meet any of their eyes, instead picking at the wrappings on his leg, which Raph doesn’t think he’s seen his brother do ever while in his own body. “Can we try not to have any close calls this time around? I don’t want these guys to be mad at us, too.”

“We’re not mad at you,” Mikey says.

Raph opens his mouth to agree, then hesitates. He’s not mad, but he’s not sure what he actually feels about the whole thing, either. It’s hard to find the right word for it, even though it’s on the tip of his tongue.

“We should all head to bed,” Leon suggests. “I can help you go get the spare mattresses to speed things up. The longer we’re both asleep, the longer we’ll have for a switch to happen.”

“Oh, like that’s so easy,” Leo says, sarcasm dripping back into his tone, though it’s not followed by the usual smile of Leon’s. “But I’ll try.”

“Heck does that mean?” Raph asks.

He doesn’t get a response from either Leo. They both sit up, and take off out the door and into the same direction.

“I feel like they were trying to talk without us there, dudes,” Mikey states.

Raph crosses his arms. “I don’t care.”

Who’s your favorite turtle and least favorite

I'd have to say my least favourite turtle is 1987 Leo, I love him, but good gods he needs to get a personality X3 I can thoroughly appreciate and respect his ability to be a leader that his brothers feel confident enough to follow with little to no question or push-back (I only remember 1 episode where his brothers said they didn't need Leo as a leader and thoroughly found the fuck out, lol) and he has episodes of growth and over-coming obstacles and fears, but at the end of the day, I swear that boy has the personality of a saltine. (With maybe some silly cheese on top cause he likes to make silly ass puns and jokes, lol)

I honestly don't feel like I can pick a favourite simply because I feel like every turtle has their very unique and individual qualities about them that I absolutely adore and appreciate, honestly I was struggling to figure out a least favourite turtle, too, hahahah, so I'm just gonna pick my favourites from each series (and it's gonna get a bit repetitive cause I'm a simple bitch with simple pleasures🥰)

1987: Michaelangelo: He was my favourite from the get-go, I've always admired his skills with his nun-chucks, his general demeanor and just how caring he is. I think my favourite parts are when someone genuinely pisses him off and shows that he knows his ninjistu and his weapon all too well and you really don't wanna fuck around and find out with him because of that. He's a sweet soul and while I think he's terrible with kids in the series is till think he's a got a very genuine and kind soul as he constantly tries to bring in animal companions and pets (and in one of the comic series during this time, it shows just how sensitive he is and all he wants is community, love, and understanding). I can relate to him on the level of indulgence in medias such as TV, music, etc. (As it is with all Mikey's of course) But I don't think I could ever match his love for pizza (I think only 2012 Mikey could genuinely compete 👀).

2003: Mikey: Now Mikey in this iteration really hits home for me simply because I was probably one of the most, if not, THE most annoying kid you could've come across and encountered in your entire life. I belive it's because of that I was not well-liked and was heavily bullied and, because of this, I felt an immediate kin-ship with Mikey and you can pull it from my cold, dead hands. I've later come to understand that the way his brothers (namely Raph) interacts with him is simply how they, as brothers, show their brotherhood/brotherly love..or something like that (I still don't quite get it, honestly) and because of that my ADHD and RSD go into overdrive everytime I see someone interacting (seemingly) negatively with him, it's almost like a punch in the gut, y'know? I think it's because of this, my love for him is pretty much solidified.

2012: Leonardo: Now this one was actually a bit of a surprise to me, I kept trying to think which one I genuinely liked between the four of them in the '12 vers. and I thought Mikey, but I just like his psychy, then I thought Raph, and yeah, he comes in at a close 2nd, but I think I more-so really like what his relationship with Mona brings out of him. But with Leonardo, his autistic ass has some of, if not, THE most personal growth and development among just about anyone in the '12 series to the point I was practically at the edge of my seat to see how he grew and developed as the show progressed. I never really thought I'd be this invested with any Leonardo, but even through a screen his leadership qualities permeate and make the viewer feel like they can do just about anything they set their mind, heart, and soul to because you get to see Leo struggle time and time again and still come out on top, he's not perfect by any means or lengths, but by the gods grace he's fuckin trying and I genuinely think that's why he's one of my favourite turtles.

(although I REALLY like future Raph in this series 👀✨️)

2018: Donatello: I honestly haven't finished rottmnt yet, I'm almost done with the first season and while I love them all and find leo in this vers. annoying as hell, I can still see his leadership qualities popping through even if he's not seated directly in the leadership position. Donatello, though, has little to no interest in being a leader and more so just looks to improve himself technologically-speaking, he's genuine in his self-expression, (and I swear to the gods I just love all the autistic/adhd bitches around here alright).

Thank you so much for asking, this was really fun to think about and try to put into words, my brain kinda goes a million miles a second sometimes and can be hard to keep up with and put onto paper(let alone verbal words, lol) but this was really enjoyable, thank you ^-^💖✨️

Separating TMNT Verses and Characters

This is just a quick one, because I've been seeing this happen a lot recently and need to vent, but I really just want to say that it is so annoying when fans won't stop mentioning a TMNT series or character when a post, video, fic, pictures, etc, has absolutely nothing to do with them (this is annoying in other fandoms as well tbh).

If someone makes a post about, say, the relationship between Donnie and Raph in the 03 series, why do people immediately feel the need to start comparing it to other series, or start dragging other characters in? Or, as another example, if someone makes a post about how physically strong the Bayverse boys are, why is there always at least one person who has to jump in and be like, 'well, actually, thanks to his mystic powers, Rise Mikey is actually the strongest turtle in the TMNT franchise, and he can solo anyone'. Like, who asked? If the post is clearly discussing physical strength, and doesn't even mention other iterations, why do you think they'd care about you trying to prove that Mikey is the strongest due to his mystic abilities?

Or if you're reading a post/fanfic, or watching a video that is clearly about one character, and half of the comments are going on about someone else, or just annoying copy pasted phrases (this is worse on TikTok than tumblr though honestly, why does every TMNT post, even ones that aren't about certain characters, need several iterations of comments like 'transfem Leo solos', 'Mikey solos 'I am Rise Leos girlfriend' etc)? I probably am coming across as a bit of an ass here, or I am misunderstanding something, but I just can't see what value these comments bring to a video. Sure, people are free to say whatever they want, but if you are commenting on a video about one character, and the comment is solely a phrase like the ones mentioned above which have no relation to the topic of the video, I just don't understand the point.

When you're in a fandom with many different iterations of the source material, you need to learn that not all of the content is going to be geared towards your particular favourite, or your particular favourite character, and trying to interject them into everything is just going to engender bitterness towards parts of the franchise, certain characters, and even amongst the fandom. I think we've all seen posts that are annoyed at Rise fans constantly trying to take over posts, fics, polls, etc that have nothing to do with Rise, or trying to tell people that their characterisation is off because they are writing/talking about a different version, and some Rise fans don't always seem to realise that the dynamics are very different in other versions. Though I do tend to see this happening more with people who are primarily Rise fans, other parts of the fandom do the same thing, which can get pretty tiring.

I honestly think the fandom would all get along a lot better if everyone could take a step back and remember that not everyone is coming into the fandom for the same things. My favourite character across every iteration I've checked out, (and I have watched/read and enjoyed quite a few iterations at this point so I have experiences across most of the fandom), is Donatello, which is probably obvious from my previous posts, and if I was paid every time I've seen someone jump in on a post about, say 12 Donnie with a comment like 'Rise Donnie would be laughing right now, Rise Donnie would be cringing, Rise Donnie would never', I'd be rich enough to buy the rights of the TMNT myself. Obviously all of the Donnies wouldn't do the exact same things or react in the same ways to everything. They all have the same core, but they are also different characters in different universes with different experiences. Of my post is specifically about one version of Donnie, I don't want a bunch of people comparing him to other iterations or characters, or just generally shitting all over him.

Or a post about something traumatic that Donnie went through, and then someone leaps in with a 'yeah but the Leos obviously have it worse, they've gone through this, and this, and this.' Alright, but this is about Donnie so again, why should I care? If I wanted to discuss Leo's trauma, I'd have mentioned this in the post, or made another post about it.

I think that one of the most egregious repeating examples of this that I have seen is usually attached to the phrase, 'what about x character'. If someone creates something about one character, and you immediately hop in with a 'what about x' it kinda makes me want to scream. Say I made a post talking about how 12 Donnie actually makes a pretty good leader in some episodes, someone jumping in to say'well what about Raph or Mikey in these particular eps' would infuruate me. Or if I say, '03 Donnie really suffered in SAINW, someone jumping in to say, 'well what about Mikey, he suffered too' is more annoying than anything.

We all have to curate our own online fandom experiences, but part of this should also involve the realisation that other people are also trying to curate their experience, one that might be fundamentally differeny from what you want, and that, by trying to interject things about other characters and iterations where they arent wanted, you are probabky just going to make people annoyed.

Some people (maybe not all, but definitely some) will not want you to hop on their post and make it all about a character or series that isn't relevant to what they are talking about, and if you do so, you may face some kind of backlash. I have seen countless people grow bitter towards certain parts of the franchise/fandom and characters because of things like this (I know that I can grow irritable when half of the content that I consume ends up being buried in comments about things that are completely irrelevant). And this isn't just fans of one particular iteration or series, even though some fans have more of a reputation for doing this than others.

I guess my main point is to just have some consideration for others, and reflect on whether or not you'd be annoyed if someone commented on something that you'd worked on talking about a character you don't particularly like, and making everything about them. It can really suck, and I've seen people become discouraged when an excellent fic, character study, post, vid, etc of their favourite character gets flooded by comments of, 'this is more like x character, imagine x character in this scenario, but what about x'. Obviously this isn't the same for everyone, and some people actually do invite people to discuss other versions and characters on their posts, but I still think people need to consider whether or not the comment that they are posting is just going to end in an argument where no one comes away happy.

Dealing with Family Revelations

After everything that just happened, April and Donnie found themselves in their shared room. “Alright, alright,” Donnie went to his whiteboard, and wiped down all of his notes on possible improvements to Sheldon. Ooh, he’s gonna regret that later, April thought.

“So, up until now we’ve just kinda assumed that I was just a turtle that just happened to gain sentience and become humanoid. Now, I was never super satisfied with that but none of my research or blood and DNA testing ever came to any fruition.”

“What? DNA testing? How did you manage that?”

“I may have broken into a government property or two to find some forensic equipment.”

“Donnie!”

“That’s not important. What’s important is that we now have two new hypotheses to work under! We have the red one’s theory and the orange one’s!”

“What about that blue turtle?”

“First point, he was an asshole, so I don’t know how much I can trust what he has to say. Second point, you hit him hard enough with the pipe that he was knocked out so a concussion is entirely in the picture. Last point, he’s an idiot.”

April snorted.

“Do you remember their names at all? I can’t remember what they said.”

“You don’t remember their names? Dude, they dropped the biggest bombs on you and you barely remember them?”

“Scoff. I remember them plenty. There was the really big one who just kinda looked confused, the energetic loud one who kept doing flips and handstands, and the one who tried to kill me. I just had other ”

April rolled her eyes. “Big guy, Raphael, Loud guy, Michelangelo, Snarky guy, Leonardo.”

“Huh. Those aren’t the names I expected. Nevermind that!” He turned around to the whiteboard, and divided that. “Ignoring the theory of being biologically to a guy who resembles a human skeleton, we have two possible theories.”

“Are human skeletons really that different from turtles?”

Donnie shuttered, “Yes. I don’t want to talk about that. Anyhow! There is Raphael’s Yokai theory and Michelangelo’s Mutant theory. Yokai are not actually a new concept, but a type of creature in Japanese folklore. It is a bit hard to figure out which aspects of Yokai are real and are just legend, but we can assume that they come in a vast variety of types. That would put more doubt, but the turtle form of Yokai was actually quite prevalent. However! It seems unlikely to me that we would be so many different kinds of turtles. It would make sense for there to be more similarities if we were biologically related.

On the other hand, there is Michaelangelo’s theory of mutants. Recently, there have been a string of mutants forming with a combination from another species of animal. If we just happened to be separate types of turtles connected to the same human DNA, then that would explain the differences. But the instances can only be traced back to about a month ago, and obviously the mutation would have had to happen over a decade ago.”

Donnie went on like this for a while before April interrupted him, “Woah, woah, woah. How are you not freaking out more about this? I’m freaking out about this!”

He looked up at his frantic writing on his whiteboard. “What part of this looks like the work of a sane person?”

“No not that Dee! You have brothers now! You have a whole family that we’ve never met before!”

“Why would that matter?”

“Because, you have a family now! People who can actually understand and help you! Why aren’t you focusing on that?”

“Oh. Should I be?”

“Yes, you should be! You just don’t get it,” She turned away from him and curled up into a ball.

Donnie sighed and dragged his hand down his face. Emotions, he could never understand them. He sat down next to her. “You know I’m terrible with processing how I’m supposed to be feeling April, but I just met these people. You must give me some time.”

“...”

“Or you could just tell me why you're so upset over this whole thing, and we can stop wasting time.”

She peered up at him, “Don, you’re literally my only friend. Now that you met your actual family, I’m going to be left in the dirt again. How many times have I gotten left in the dirt because I wasn’t someone’s best friend. Always the baggage someone didn’t want to deal with. Now that you have actual brothers, you’re just going to leave me just like everyone else. Why are you pretending like that’s not going to happen?”

Donnie laid a comforting hand on April, “I think that might actually be the stupidest thing that I have ever heard.”

She knocked his hand off. “Not helping.”

“Do you think I’m going to care about those idiots I just met more than you? You’re the one that found me and brought me home. You’re the one that accepted me as a brother. You’re the one that encouraged me to build Sheldon. You’re the person who accepts me even when everyone gets annoyed when I don’t understand others' emotions.”

“I mean, yeah but I’m sure they can understand you better than I can.”

“Who cares? You are April O'Neil, and my sister. I could never care about anyone more than I care about you.”

“Aww,” April leaned against him. “You’re just a big old softie.”

“Just don’t let anyone know. Got to keep up my bad boy reputation.”

“Sure Donnie. Whatever makes you happy.” ______________________________________________________________

“Dad, Dad!” Leo bursts through the secret wall of their restaurant. “Why did you never tell me that I was adopted?”

Hueso, who was in the middle of trying to seat a customer, looked deadpan at his son. “I am busy right now Leo. Why don’t you go upstairs and bother someone else, hm?”

“No, I’m serious, Dad! I just met my brothers, which apparently I have brothers! You should have told me!”

Hueso excused himself from the customer, and gave Leo his full attention. “Why don’t we bring this upstairs, hm?”

“Fine,” Leo mumbled. They headed upstairs to where their private living space was. “So?”

“I kind of thought it was obvious. I mean,” he vaguely gestured to both of them.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Pepino. I am a skeleton. You are a turtle.”

“What’s your point?”

“Oy vey. Why did you think I called it adoption day instead of birthday?”

“I don’t know, I just thought you were weird.”

“Yes, I’m clearly the weird one. Why don’t you tell me what happened?”

Leo flopped onto the couch, “Ok so I was looking around, just minding my own business, when I spotted this guy being like super shaddy, so I decided it would be best to apprehend him.”

“Uh-huh.”

“Look in my defense, he was covered head to toe in dark clothing and was clearly looking for something. You can’t blame me for swooping in.”

“...Is this that vigilante thing?”

“How did you know that I’m the Blue Blur?!”

“...Was it not obvious?”

“Anywho, I valiantly fought the intruder-”

“You were also intruding.”

“Do you want to hear the story or not?” Hueso motioned for him to continue, “So then his partner knocked me out. Once I woke up, all three were there! I’ve never met anyone who looked like me before, and now there were three of them!”

“Three what?”

“Turtles! We looked a little different, and none of them had my rugged good looks, but we did look similar. And Mikey started saying things about how this made sense because our Mystic Energy was similar or something. And then they were saying that you weren't my real dad, but Lou freaking Jitsu.”

“That action star you like?”

“Yeah, I guess. I don’t know how that even makes any sense. Why would someone put movie star DNA in turtles?” 

Hueso looked over at Leo, who had pulled his legs up in a little hug. He was constantly putting on a face of confidence, and he was good at it. No one usually would be able to really tell when he’s acting or not. But Hueso hasn’t seen him look so vulnerable since he was a hatchling. “What is wrong, mijo? I thought that you would have been actually, I don’t know, excited to have Lou Jitsu be your father?”

Leo sighed, “He’s not you. I’d rather have you.”

Hueso smiled and put an arm around him, “I’m still your Dad, Leo. No matter where you came from, I still picked you that day and decided to raise you. Nothing is going to erase all of the tantrums you threw as a tike or the headaches you gave me. Even if these brothers are going to be in your life now, I’ll still be here.”

Leo surged forward and wrapped his arms around him. “Thanks,” he mumbled into his shirt.

“Now, why don’t I get some pizza from downstairs, and we watch some of those space movies you like so much?”

“But I thought you didn’t like them?”

He kissed Leo on the forehead, “Anything for you tonight, pepito. I’ll be right back.”

“Love you Pops.”

“I love you too, Leo.”

Casey was minding her own business, organizing and cleaning the various Foot Clan weapons, when she was assaulted by an orange blur. “Mikey! Get off!”

“Cass! I missed you! You’re never going to guess what just happened?”

“You decided to get some brownies as a thanks to your sister for not impaling you for attacking a trained warrior?”

“Pfft, no. Don’t be silly. I found out I have brothers!”

“Did you find any small children? We could successfully raise some children to be glorious warriors for the clan! Or sacrifices I suppose.”

He jumped off of her, “No, they're like other turtle mutants. Hold on, I took pictures.” He pulled out his phone and started scrolling through his pictures. None of the other turtles seemed particularly happy that their pictures were getting taken, all seemingly looking confused and surprised. As much as she wanted to deny it, she couldn’t deny the resemblance there.

“Are you sure that they’re your brothers? For all you know it could be a trick.”

“Yeah, even if they were in costumes or something, their mystic energy is too similar to mine to be a mistake.”

“Well you should be careful, little brother. Even now they could be working to overturn our plans.”

Mikey rolled his eyes, “What plans? It’s not like Uncle Rob and Maurice tell us anything.”

“They know what’s best for us! I’m sure that its all part of their grand plan.”

“Fine, but I seriously doubt that they could be doing anything like that. I mean, they didn’t even know what a mutant was.”

“Ha, idiots of the lowest caliber! Clearly unworthy of your attention! As your sister, I advise that you put them out of your mind and never see them again.”

The smile dropped off of Mikey’s face. “What’s with you? I’d thought you’d be happy for me.”

Casey gripped the glave that she was cleaning and with a scream, lunged at Mikey.

“Woah!” Mikey quickly dodged. “Casey what the heck!” Mikey grabbed a sickle and started swinging back. They spared for a little while, until Mikey was able to hook his sickle around the glave and pull it out of Casey’s hands. “What was that about?”

“I’m protecting my family! I’m not going to let some weird turtles take my family from me.”

“By trying to kill me?!”

“The plan may not have been thought out.”

“...Wait? Are you jealous?”

“What? Me, jealous. As if. I don’t need a soap opera family reveal in my life.” 

“Suuuuure.”

She punched him in the arm. “Shut up.”

“I guess it was a bit of a big thing to drop on you. Come on, I’ll make it up to you, let's play a game of death hockey.”

“And you're going to get me some brownies.”

“Fine, I’ll make you some brownies. Race ya!”

“Be ready to taste my wrath!”

Raphael threw himself into the rhythm of hitting the punching bag. He was lucky that he had enough training to be doing so good in the Battle Nexus. That allowed for him to be able to get his own room, a luxury that few gladiators in the Battle Nexus get. He has his one space, and even gets to leave occasionally.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

So why wasn’t he feeling very grateful? He trusted Big Mama, she always knows what’s best for him. She always knows everything. She knew that Lou Jitsu was his human DNA? So how didn’t she know that he has brothers?

Thump. Thump. Thump.

He’s not stupid, he knows that Big Mama made a good amount of money lying and deceiving people, as much as he wishes that it was different. But thought he was different, that she wouldn’t lie to him. Right?

Bam!

He knocked the punching bag off of the rig. He sighed and laid down on his bed. He was excited to have brothers, he’s never had any before! But what does all of this mean? And will they even like him? Hopefully they won’t hate him when they find out that he’s a gladiator. 

He got up and started to get ready to go to sleep. He could already tell it was going to be a long night.

Some more concept art for my "Future Raph goes decades back in time" AU. (man I need a name for this thing.) Future outfit is on the left and past is on the right.

Lore (still largely in the planning stage, so subject to change) under the cut:

Future Raph has a lot of scars from over the years. Some of the important ones:

Acid/burn scar on the left side of his face, extending down his neck and shoulder: came from a Kraang-related incident. Somewhat limits the motion of that side of his face because of the scar tissue, so his larger expressions tend to look a bit lopsided. The scarring also extends partially over his shell as pockmarking.

Right hand: lost in a Kraang-related incident. Possibly the same one as his facial scar, I haven't quite decided yet. It was a very hasty amputation, so it took quite a while to heal, and he still has a good deal of phantom pain from it.

Cross-shaped crack on right side of plastron: this one actually happened in his childhood, and was usually covered by a bandage. At some point after the invasion he stopped covering it.

Cut over left side of mouth: came from trying to bite open a can of green beans. Was not worth it.

He also has a lot of tattoos, (subject to change because I'm still figuring out what I want to put there and because I'm not very good at designing tattoos) mainly in a sleeve on his right arm. This includes:

A hissing snake winding its way around his arm, roughly from shoulder to wrist

Ghostbear's luchador mask

A spiderweb

A stylized marigold-like flower with a few loose petals around it

A butterfly with a skull for a head

The constellation Ursa Major

A simplified version of the flame spirit that was part of Mikey's kusari-fundo

A portrait/bust of Jupiter Jim wearing his helmet

And the date of the invasion.

There are a few others, but I might change or get rid of those.

After going back in time and becoming a fighter at the Battle Nexus, he starts getting a small triangle tattooed on his right arm for every fight he wins. He's only got a few of them in the picture, but he ends up with more. A lot more.

Also, he starts to wear skirts and eyeliner when he goes back in time.(If I'm going to tear this man away from everyone he's ever known, he gets to wear skirts as compensation. It's not fair compensation, but its compensation lol.)

15. Is the Hamato clan history relevant? How did the clan originate?

It‘s relevant in the fact that it ties into whatever hot mess Splinter, Shredder and Shen have going on. The Hamato and footclan merged together under the shared leadership of Splinter and Shredder. It didn‘t take very long until Splinter was like „fuck you fuck this we‘re splitting off again“, but part of the Hamato clan stayed with the footclan. Shen was initially on his side, but later felt like she‘d been wronged by both of them and proceeded to tear the Hamato clan up from the inside and use its remaining power to put pressure on Saki.

Seeing his whole life, the clan that he‘d been tasked with leading by his parents, destroyed, Splinter did the first rational thing any of them have ever done and quit. He‘s still carrying the, like, values and history of his clan with him, but the actual clan has been eaten up in their power struggle.

The Hamato and footclan were founded a loooong time ago, both with the goal of stopping the krang from taking over earth. While the Hamato clan just wanted them gone again, the footclan wanted to make the krang their own. The Hamato clan eventually managed to get the krang to leave and both clans kept the stories of that era alive, though most people stopped really believing them a while ago.

19. Do any characters get disabled during the story?

Oh boy. Mikey loses their left arm and Donnie gets its carapace shattered partially. Sorry :(

57. Are any characters disabled?

All of them!!! Splinter broke his right knee when he was a human and it never really healed. Leo got a permanent injury on her right knee too (and yes, it‘s a running joke that she inherited it from Splinter like everything else - even though they‘re not blood related). Mikey like I said is an amputee and sometimes still gets phantom pain, and Donnie has his shell injury, but also carpal tunnel and nerve damage (caused by the mutation). Raph has osteoarthritis, April has chronic migraines and Casey has epilepsy and had to get cervical disk replacement surgery. Karai/Miwa have chronic pain from getting injured a lot and Mona has chronic fatigue and chronic dizziness (very bad for flying spaceships, but that doesn‘t discourage her).

58. Are any characters neurodivergent?

Splinter is the token neurotypical😔 Leo has depression and anxiety, Donnie is autistic and has unspecified bipolar, Raph has psychosis and OCD, Mikey has ADHD. April got that psychotic swag as well (as a symptom depression in her case) and Casey has ADHD and depression. Mona has pretty bad social anxiety and also severe PTSD. Actually, all the turtles get PTSD during the story too. Sorry

Okay, I lied, Splinter also has PTSD after getting mutated and then during the story getting kidnapped. That‘s gonna stick with him for a while

63. Is Splinter the turtles’ dad, sensei or both?

He‘s both, but he‘s a little shit at it. He‘s trying, but it‘s like a situation where the parent messes the children up because of their own baggage. As a sensei, it takes him a while to find a balance between training them and giving them time to goof off, but he‘s managing that pretty well around the time he gets kidnapped.

65. Is April considered a sibling?

Not really! She‘s a very close friend of the turtles and does act a little bit like an older sister to them, but that‘s really all there is to it. Those are her weird sewer-dwelling friends, not her weird sewer-dwelling siblings.

66. Does April consider Splinter a parent?

She very much doesn‘t. She only gets to know Splinter at the end of act III, when the turtles get him out of kidnapping hell, so up to that point all she knew about him was what the turtles told her. And that made him sound like a pretty pathetic, sad man.

75. Tell us a fun fact about Donnie’s species!

Golden coin turtles are used in folk medicine! Sorry Donnie, you‘re getting turned into healing jelly. Golden coin turtles are also really expensive, apparently they‘re sold for up to $25k

Mote pokemon au concept:

The Hamato Clan aren't gym trainers, they aren't even related to the gym challenge. They're more like... reverse evil teams? The player character? Basically ally their goal is to travel the land and help people but they don't do it for money, glory, or gym badges

yeah! I could see that being the case! It's actually similar to how i've been imagining it, which is them being weird NPCs the player runs into during the game.

Like the twins? Well gen 5 has (if i remember correctly) an abnormal number of twin trainers waiting to double battle the player. So like, the Disaster twins would be one of those, just a little different. Like instead of immediately battling the player, they are too busy bickering amongst themselves to notice them arrive. The player probably has to interact with them three times before they finally notice their presences and ask what they're doing there and if they want to battle? If the player says yes, they start a doubles battle with the Disaster Twins that is quite a bit harder than the battles normally found in whatever area they're in (like ridiculously so. like 'why the hell are these two level 55 trainers in a level 40 town?!'). Basically they're an optional battle.

Mikey and Raph i'll talk about when i post their art, b/c i don't really want to spoil too much. (i'm so excited about Raph's in particular! His is such a silly little thing, i love it so much!)

Basically i've been seeing them all as weird little encounters around the map that make the player stop for a second lol.

TMNT 2012 characters in Halloween costumes

Happy Halloween everyone! To celebrate, I decided to share my vision of what costumes some of the TMNT 2012 characters would wear for Halloween. This would also be set after Trick or Treat Tussle, the Halloween themed video game that had Leo as Captain Ryan, Donnie as what I believe is a troubadour (Mickey Mouse Three Musketeers reference anyone), Mikey as SpongeBob, April as a ninja turtle, and Raph as the famous fairy princess.

So, this is what I got!

Leonardo as a masked warrior/swordsman (inspired by our lovely blue dragon warrior here)

This was one costume idea I struggled with the most, but I ultimately decided on this remembering Shin-Ah from Yona of the Dawn. I just think it'd be cool to see Leo dress up in something related to his combat skills while still looking like a badass/dork. Complete with a bathrobe, some of his usual gear, and a paper mache mask, Leo is ready for Halloween.

Donatello as a scientist

This was one of the first ideas I had for Donnie, and I feel as though it's perfect. The overall inspiration is from Donnie's design in tigerfog's 2003 fan comic, NMT Gaiden. I just really liked the eyepiece Don wore, complete with a lab coat. Add in some protect gloves and liquid filled bombs (filled with dyed water and soda!) to the equation, and you get Donnie's costume.

Raphael as a body builder (inspired by Doug from 50 First Dates)

What's funnier than Raph deciding to dress as a strongman? Raph dressing up like Sean Astin from 50 First Dates. The outfit itself is RIDICULOUS, but I do see Raph wearing that mesh shirt. 🤣 Add shorts, gloves, the red baseball cap, and yes, even sunglasses, and you get Raph as Doug Whitmore. Oh, and make sure he gets some Reese's in his treat or treat bag.

Michaelangelo as Ice Cream Kitty

For quite a while, I've been stuck on what costume Mikey would wear. Like... there are SO MANY GOOD IDEAS. I turned to Instagram and asked peeps for suggestions. I chose his favorite ice cream cat, because he'd go all out with face/body paint, the classic cat ears, and even make a bowl to wear. I just think that's overall, a very Mikey costume that isn't a character from another existing franchise.

April as a simulacrum news reporter

The overall inspiration comes from BOTH a judge's costume I saw in Halloween Baking Championship (a ghostly news reporter) and that April in the 1987 series is a news reporter! I didn't want to go with the jumpsuit, so April would be wearing something a bit dressier like what female news reporters typically wear. I then thought she'd be a different creature as opposed to being a human news reporter. I settled with a simulacrum, or "frankenmonster", because the thought of April having the same mint green skin with scars like Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas is a good Halloween look (especially with her naturally gorgeous red hair),

Casey as a serial killer

Like in the Halloween arc, this is just an excuse for Casey to dress up in his usual vigilante gear. However, it's Halloween, so he has to be a bit more creative. So, Jones would whip out some older, dirtier, and wrecked gear like a broken mask, a baseball bat (taking a bit of inspo from Negan from Walking Dead), and red paint. Lots and LOTS of red paint.

Karai as a masked vampiress

I remembered a long time ago, someone compared Karai with her snake eyes/fangs to a vampire when her mutation first happened, and honestly, I can see it! That brought me to come up with this idea for Karai's costume. Imagine it being an old European/gothic look on her with a black dress with frills, a beautifully decorated black mask, and gloves. Safe to say that Shini has likely helped Karai pick out the right clothes for the look, and even do her hair and makeup.

Shinigami as a cat witch (inspired by Blair from Soul Eater)

This is one I just thought of as a fun idea. In Soul Eater, Blair is a recurring character who appears to be a witch girl with cat ears, but she's actually a real cat! Because Shini is a witch and cats are basically her spirit animal, it just makes sense for our underrated Foot Clan witch to go that costume route. Shini might as well be capable of casting a spell to give herself cat ears underneath a witch hat.

Slash as Raphael

This was just a cute idea that came to me. Slash wouldn't do much, but since he was Raph's owner before his mutation, I just thought it'd be sweet if Slash went as him for Halloween. All he really needs is a red mask and a giant pair of Sai.

Leatherhead as Frankenstein's monster

This one was from a suggestion by @fabuloustrash05 (out of a few options), but I think this one was the best fit for Leatherhead, because of the similarities between the two. He probably wouldn't be able to dress in costume, but that's why doing makeup is an option. I can see Mikey giving his gator friend some fake stitches/scars and neck bolts to make him the coolest franken-gator ever!

Mondo Gecko as an 80s rock star

The amount of times our skater gecko has this rocker guy personality, from using his skateboard as an air guitar and even his speech pattern, I just think this would be a fun costume idea for Mondo. Also would mentioning that his voice actor Robbie Rist is a musician.

Mona Lisa as Morticia Addams

This is something I borrowed from FabTrash, but for those who don't know, Sean Astin's father was Gomez in the live action Addams Family show from the mid 1960s. Since I didn't think to have Raph dress as Gomez, I'm making up for it by having his girlfriend Mona dress as the beautiful hag Morticia! Well, with just the iconic black dress and a bit of dark makeup. But just because Raph isn't Gomez in this list of characters in Halloween costumes doesn't mean he won't wear a Gomez costume for Mona.

Renet Tilley as Michelangelo

I always saw Renet as a big Ninja Turtles fanatic, and because her close bond with Mikey, it's beyond safe to say she likes him the most. I just think it's cute that Renet would wear a ninja turtle costume like April did in the Trick or Treat Tussle game, and she'd choose Mikey of course.

BONUS: Alex as a Dragon

I didn't want to leave out my Ally-boy on this. The idea was suggested by @xartisticmdx, so a dragon is the best one for Alex. He'd wear one of those pull-over masks with the mouth open that looks like a dragon's head and a tail to match. I would also think Mikey uses darker green body paint to give Alex scales, and even tape the wings and spine spikes onto his shell.
